A swap deal with Tyrone Barnet AFC Wimbledon for Barry Corr from Cambridge going the other way is on the cards apparently! His contract expires 30th June so watch this space.

26 Jun 2017 09:50:31
Why would the clubs being doing a swap deal for a player who is out of contract? Makes absolutely no sense.

02 May 2017 16:46:11
Bit of a cull at AFCW - Shea, Dannie Bulman, Robertson, 4 youngsters (Oakley, Beere, FitzPatrick and Gallagher) plus apparently others told they're not needed and can find themselves other things. Last bit suggests they are ones with a year left to run who will be allowed to go if someone comes in but won't be paid off - rumour seems to be Chris Whelpdale and Tyrone Barnett in that group.

Club interested in George Francomb. He has 1 year left on his contract so Wimbledon will require a fee.

14 Jun 2016 17:54:11
AFC Wimbledon will imminently confirm the signing of Billy Knott on a free transfer. Knott was recently released by Bradford City. The former Chelsea and West Ham youth player joined the Dons on loan from Sunderland in 2012, and was the Dons' Young Player of the Year for the 2011/ 12 season, despite only joining them in January of that year. The Dons will bring him in to provide competition at left midfield and for the central midfield positions.

Wimbledon are also considering making a move for former academy player Luke Gambin, who starred for Barnet at left midfield last season. Sutton-born Gambin recently broke into the Malta national team, and will hope to cement a place in the team as Malta head into a World Cup Qualifying group that includes Scotland and England. Gambin would be brought in to replace Sean Rigg who is on his way back to the South West of England, with Cheltenham and Yeovil both interested in signing the Gloucester-born wide midfielder. However Rigg may drop to the non-league to sign for Forest Green Rovers, where he spent some time as a youth player.

Wimbledon striker Adebayo Azeez will sign a 6 month loan deal with Dagenham and Redbridge in the coming months. Azeez went on loan to the Daggers in 2014, scoring 3 times in 15 appearances. The recently-relegated Daggers host the Dons in a pre-season friendly in late July, and it is likely Azeez will join them soon after that friendly game.
The Dons will hope that some consistent game time will sharpen up the pacy striker who struggled to finish his chances at the back end of the 2015/ 16 season.
AFC Wimbledon will give trial to powerful striker Uche Ikpeazu over pre-season period, as they look to complete their young strike force for next season. The former Watford player gained plenty of experience in League One over the last two seasons with Crewe, Doncaster, Port Vale and Blackpool. Although he is very strong, he admittedly possesses only a slight amount of the strength of departing Adebayo Akinfenwa, but Ikpeazu can provide a lot more speed in attack.

Stoke City have agreed a deal to sign young AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper Will Mannion. The tall 17-year-old shot stopper featured in goal during The Dons' FA Youth Cup run, which saw them knock out Watford and Newcastle both at their respective Premier League stadiums. He was also invited by England to a goalkeeper training camp at St. George's Park in Burton, which is where he first came to the attention of scouts from many Premier League clubs. Mannion will join The Potters' under-21 squad next season. The Dons had offered Mannion a pro contract but the youngster turned it down.

Karleigh Osborne will train with AFC Wimbledon over the pre-season period after his release by Bristol City. Osborne joined on loan from The Robins until the end of the season, but a long-term injury prevented him from playing any part in recent months. Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley has kept Osborne with The Dons despite his injury ruling him out for the season, and has the centre back in his plans for next season.

14 Mar 2016 22:15:25
AFC Wimbledon hope to get a deal done with Burton Albion before the weekend, to sign utility player Darius Charles. It is expected that they would use Charles as a centre back, having had young centre half Ryan Sweeney red carded on Saturday, and long term injuries to all their other central defensive players limiting their options in that position. Charles signed for Burton Albion in the summer, but a succession of injuries have prevented him making his league debut for the Brewers. Burton boss Nigel Clough recently said that he expected Charles to play a role in Burton's run to wrap up the League One title, but that a loan move may be in the offing to help get the utility player used to first-team football again. It now appears that he is still going to be on the fringes at Burton, and he will now join Wimbledon on loan until the end of this season.

Wimbledon are also hoping to secure Sam Saunders on loan as they continue their push for the playoffs. The experienced Bees midfielder has only been used from the bench in recent months, a situation he found himself in last season as well. Saunders asked to be loaned out, and joined Wycombe at a similar point in the season last campaign. He had a successful time at Adams Park and helped Wycombe reach the playoff final. Although he will not remember that game fondly, as he was taken off early in the match and Wycombe went on to lose on penalties to Southend United. Saunders, a Brentford favourite, will hope to get a good run of games whilst out on loan, and maybe even another run to the League Two playoff final. Linked with a move to the MLS a few months ago, he said that he hoped to be able to stay at Brentford and would do anything to get back into contention for a starting spot for the Bees.
