Celts will ship out Naylor – Portsmouth £ 750,000
McManus – Newcastle – £ 3m
They will then land not the Indian forward rumoured in the press but will complete a £5m move for Ross McCormack. This will also complete signings but other squad players will be allowed to leave for acceptable offers
My uncle is friends with lee cattelmole he told him liverpool are desperete to sign him but wigan want double the cash offered.
Will Celtic sign anyone new before the Arsenal game? We will need to sell before we can buy i would assume but any rumors on who we will bring in if anyone thenks.
I have never heard any transfer rumours before but i have received information from what i consider to be a very reliable source that man.city will be making an offer for vidic. yes vidic the rock of the man.utd defence. no idea what fee will be involved, but if its city expect the offer to be off the scale.
Chelsea will sign one more player even though Ancelotti said wuold not sign anymore players. That stricker will be Ageuro. He will sign for £45millon. We will then sign another player in January. Most likely a world class midfeilder. Robben, Silva and even a surprise move for Deigo. They would cost 20million, 23million and 27million.
Right First Of AlL Am A Rangers Man Thru And Thru But Facts Are Facts Rangers Dnt Have Any Money The Sales Of Adam,Ferguson And Gow Has Done Nothin But Freed Up A Tiny Bit Of Cash For Wages So Again The Great Sir David Murray Will Dip Into His Own Pockets To Bring Tonel From Sporting Lisbon For £1.3 Million And Then The Great Walter Smith Will Make A Great Signing By Bringing Back Michael Ball On A Free Transfer Which Confirms Big Boogie Is On His Way Out Of Ibrox So Papac Will Move Into The Center Of Defense With Tonel And Ball Will Move Onto The Left Back Position And Weir Is Obv Going Onto A Coachin Roll In January Wen Big Boogie Will Be Sold To Arsenal. . . . But We Will Still Win The Treble This Year :D. . .
To the Toon guy who said:

Toon takeover will not happen! Ashley will stay on this season and appoint a mickey mouse manager O'Bleary or someone or that ilk. Very much doubt he'll provide much for the way of transfers either, preferring instead to line his own pockets with any money gained through sales.

Sad times for us Newcastle United fans. How that joke of an owner became a billionaire I'll never know. In comparison he makes Bob Murray look like one of the best in the business, and all us toon fans know what a clown that bloke was (Had me in stitches with the job he did for the great unwashed)

I agree with what you say however can I add that Stephen Taylor is in preliminary talks with Everton (once Lescott leaves) to desert the sinking joke ship HMS Ashley.

PS Re the unwashed comment– I never knew there were so many SAFC fans living in Gateshead!!!
CELTIC FC. .following the departure of Shunsuke Nakamura and the "non–emergence" of Koko Mizuno Celtic will look to fill the marketing void by switching from Japan to India. Expect a bid of around £1m for Indian striker Sunil Chhetri of Dempo Sport Club. Celtic have realised the earning potential of Asian players (even including Du Weh of China) and see £1m as a sure fire 5/1 bet. The probability is that Chhetri is actually a decent player too. Also on the radar and rumours abound in Glasgow is Zander Diamond of Aberdeen will be a Celtic player soon for a fee + player deal (possibly Sherdian, McCourt, McGinn – even all 3 and no fee). Still looking like big Mick McManus has kicked his last ball for Celtic, several lower tier EPL teams and a cpl of Championship teams reportedly interested. After the play–off draw seeing CFC against arsenal, TM realises that the group stage is now a distinct possibility and will ensure a team is in place for this game and the rest of the season. Hail hail the timaloys
Hello My Collegue Is an Agent working on behalf of Rafael Benitez speaking to Valencia about the possible transfer of Attacking Midfielder David Silva to Liverpool. As yet No price has been Agreed, but Liverpool do have the green light from the Liverpool board to Negotiate for Silva, A price of around 19Million With add ons,Is Benitez´s first offer, Including Friendly matches for two seasons, in which Valencia will collect the full Gate. Benitez has already tried to arrange a further deal with the spanish club, for a ´´first option´´ of 31million for Striker David Villa next season. However I understand that Defender Andrea Dossena Or Midfielder Leiva Lucas will be pushed out to pay the second installment.

To 'John(Arsene)Still we trust', correct me if im wrong, but wasnt arsenal the first club to field an entire team, including subs, of foreigners?! (i know chelsea were the first team to field a foreign starting XI, but they had four english subs before anyone comments) i see the arsenal youth system is working wonders! as long as buying players when there fifteen an developing them for two years counts. .
who are the english arsenal players to come through the youth system, who can 'relate' to arsenal, in the last 10 years?
ashley cole. .
kieran gibbs??
and now jack wilshere!
please tell me your secret arsene, because its obviously very productive.
Your sarcasm is top notch, but your point is terrible at best.

  Man City News. . . .

Lescotts move to CITY is dead Kenwright and Moyes have been saying No for the last 6 weeks, The deal is about keeping a team together.

Further developments at CITY indicate that a substantial Bid for Terry may follow soon and another Top centre back
I have some more exclusive news regarding Liverpool:

People seem to forget that Rafa sold Keane in January for around £12M, he didn't sign anyone in January so I assume that this money is still in his back pocket. He was also given £20M from the Americans, got Johnson for £12M (Crouch money) sold Arbeloa for £3M and Alonso for £34M. With the signing of Aquilani this means that Benitez has around £36M still to spend, but who will he buy?
Well all I can say is expect a player to come in on the transfer deadline (you might be surprised) also expect Benitez to loan a central midfielder as Aquilani is injured. Turner should sign for around £8M, Rafa's first bid of £6M was rejected by Hull.

Thats all for now

Had to laugh at Roy Hodgson's description that Wenger is like a stalker. Combined with him being a voyeur (Mourinho quote) this doesn't sound like a good combination of character traits. When you add in that he's become tighter than a Scotsman and does his shopping in Aldi not Harrods, a picture emerges.

And what about us lot? Gossips; liars; spreaders of disinformation. .Perhaps we're all frustrated journalists? Anyway, word is Spurs have tabled two take it or leave it (time running out in the window) bids to get a left sided midfielder: £22 million for Young and £14 million for Joe Cole. I think the Obina rumour has some merit because he probably could get a work permit now. There's this synergy about getting in players allowing movement: There's no way Spurs need another striker unless one can be sold: Still think Keane to Villa is possible.

In Harry we hope
After he completed the signing of aquilani benitez will bid 3mil for distin and 14mil for luis suarez of ajax because he is seen as a cheaper alternative to silva also expect a bid for one of villa or aguero
  Bristol city news
There is lots of unhappy players at Ashton gate feeling uncomfatable with the style of Gary Johnson his tea cup throwing and hand grenade dropping is starting to have a negative affect on morale and several senior players are said to be looking to move on and follow Mcindoe these are Marvin Elliot ,

Information coming out of Lennoxtown is that Celtic will make two further signings this transfer window. One will be Danny Shittu CB and the other will be Garry O'connor, although his previous injuries are a concern. Should Birmingham continue their persuit of Naylor and Wolves confirm their interest with a bid for McManus then Celtic will move for Diamond at Aberdeen and Dixon the Dundee Unt left back.
Don't believe me for this, it came from Granty himself. A walk in the park this season for Celtic. Arsenal baware !!!!!!
To the guy who claims Atletico eye Gago and Higuain>>>

you are absolutely spot on. .do you know who could sign Aguero if he left this season? Thanks. .
'First off jermaine beckford will be signing for charlton for 1 mill'
I don't usually whinge, but this is ridiculous, right? The only reason, Ill repeat that, the ONLY reason Jermaine Beckford is leaving Leeds is because he is nearly into his prime and needs a challenge outside of League 1. The very idea that he would move to a smaller side in the same division, for such an small fee, is stupid. People like this, with no respect for the truth, who don't know enough about these things to comment on them, should keep their views to themselves. Am I right or am i right?
The most accurate rumour on this front is now, in my opinion, that Beckford's move has been put off until January, where his future will be ultimately decided by Leeds' league position. If we are we were last season, and God forbid it looks likely, he will likely request a transfer. But live in hope Whites fans. If Leeds are running away with the League 1 title, who knows? Im sure Bates will stump up his contract offer, and we could unleash him in the Championship next season.
Of course, Im just spit–balling here, as the Americans would say. Speaking of which, expect young striker Mike Grella to get a contract extension at Elland Road. This Yankee kids better than we thought. McCallister might have been useless, but he scouted some intense players.
Seeing as this post only encompasses one team, I doubt it will be posted, but we must live and hope.
Malcolm Shaffer
Don't be suprised to see arsenal bid for none other than flamengo striker Adriano for £5.000,000. For CDM expect Vieira to fufill a coaching role after his season and one of Toulalan and Miguel Veloso (who i would prefere). For CB doubt it will be lescott as moes has said no–one is leaving so either Richards for £10,000,000 or Naldo for £8,000,000.
Expect this all to happen after the second match against Celtic.
DFG
No serious transfers will happen with regards to Arsenal until their Champions League games have been played against Celtic. Expect Cesc to leave if Arsenal fail to go through the Celtic tie. It is the harsh truth during a season leading upto the World Cup. Come on Arsenal!!
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has tied up a deal with Goran Pandev on a free for 2010. He will sign a pre–contract in January worth €95,000 per week on a 5 year deal
Arda Turan could be set for the Premier League with Arsenal poised to offer £11.5 million for the Turkish winger. New Galatasseray boss Frank Rijkaard is reluctant to sell the 22 year old club captain but will consider a deal if Abou Diaby is involved in a swap. Liverpool have also been keeping tabs on Turkish winger Turan and may also consider a move.
=v1=
I have a reliable source (I can't name who obviously as it could jepordize his position) on the following big 4 transfers, but first a bit of financial talk. A lot of people babble on that pretty much every prem team is in debt, but the truth is only West Ham, Liverpool, Man Utd are in real debt. If Liverpool or Man Utd don't qualify for CL ONCE then they will be in administration. The Glazers don't plan on selling "in the next 20 years" but Hicks and Gillett will sell in either November or next summer. Anyway, to transfers:

ARSENAL

Wenger wants 3 positions filled (yes haha), centre–back, a holding midfielder and a top quality striker. The centre–backs are between 3 people, Hangeland, Shawcross and Fernandez. Hangeland is Wenger's no. 1 option but is unwilling to step up his £6m offer to the £10m asking price, so Leandro Fernandez is his next option at £5m. Should that fall through then Ryan Shawcross is a sure bet at £5m. The holding midfielders are between 4 people; Hitzlsperger, Matuidi, Cattermole and Vieira. Cattermole is his no. 1 option with him being young, good and english, but the £12m asking price is far too steep. Matuidi is option no. 2 for £6m. I can't see this one falling through as both parties want the transfer to go through but the only thing standing in its way is Vieira. The fans want a strong, reliable CM and about 25% of Arsenal fans have lost confidence in Wenger and want someone familiar. Wenger sees this transfer as the perfect way to win back wayward fans. Hitzlsperger is just an if–all–else–fails option. Finally the quality striker is 4 players again. Chamakh, Gignac, Van Nistelrooy and Niang. It's no secret Chamakh is his 1st choice now he's missed out on Huntelaarm, but the fee is a bit of a stumbling block, despite the fact they have the money to but him about 4 times. If Arsene won't pay the £15m he'll look elsewhere, being Gignac or Niang. Wenger is known to be a huge fan of Niang and would hope £12m would sign him, but Gignac was more prolific than Benzema last season but he's unsure on whether it was a one–off. He's willing to pay £10m for him. Nistelrooy is a last choice player and would join on loan.
Leaving is Senderos, Djourou, Rosicky and Denilson. Senderos is joining Everton on a season–long loan with a view–to–buy, while Djourou is making the move to France, with St. Etienne in high contention. Rosicky will leave in January with Bundesliga the likely destination. Denilson meanwhile will make a shock transfer to Premiership rivals Man Utd for £5m.

CHELSEA

Despite Ancelotti's comments about 'no more transfers' expect 1 before the window closes. Pato is far too expensive and AC Milan won't allow the move, but Pirlo is getting on a bit and Ancelotti will do anything to sign him, including spend £15m on him. Pointless and stupid, yes but non–the–less he'll get his man. Outs are Hilario making the move home to join Belensenses for £2m, Mancienne will make the loan move to Wolves, Deco will finally join Inter for £5m and Shevchenko will leave the prem known as the biggest waste of money ever, said to be joining Genoa for £5m.

LIVERPOOL

Liverpool haven't quite done the business the fans were hoping for. Sure, Johnson's a quality player and Aquilani's like a younger Gerrard, but not yet are they finished. The Alonso transfer has seen £25m paid straight towards them, with an extra £10m paid in add–ons, while the Aquilani deal is actuallt £17m, leaving Liverpool with a rather healthy £25m left to spend. The money will go on 2 players, and one of which is a definite striker. The main 2 Rafa is looking at are Villa and Aguero. Villa looks very unlikely with a £45m price tag but Aguero is a known Liverpool fan and will join next summer for £25m + Benayoun and Dossena and N'Gog going on loan when Liverpool have the money. The other player is said to be David Silva. This is a background transfer and the club and player have confirmed the contract while the two clubs are yet to agree a fee. Expect this transfer to happen in the last week of the window. Rafa wants 2 more players after these 2 sign. The 2 are Michael Turner for £4m and Steven Defour for £7m. The Turner deal is definite but the Defour deal sees Liverpool a little strapped for cash. Outs are Itandje for £1m with Montpellier the likely destination and Lucas leaving for Brazil for £6m. A 4–4–2 tactic will be deployed with Mascherano and Gerrard in the centre and Aquilani on the right with Kuyt as backup. Voronin and Torres the strikers for the season.

MAN UTD

The final team. United manager Alex Ferguson seems to be getting a little senile in his old age, selling his best player and forcing their best goalscorer out of the club. Expect a big name centre–back to join, with Diego Godin the likely candidate. he'll join for £15m and will join with Denilson. The signing of Godin will se Vidic sold. Ferguson is fed up of players not wanting to play for the club and has already sold Ronaldo and Vidic will leave for £40m, with Barcelona in contention. Leaving Old Trafford will be Park leaving for either a Japanese club or a prem team, with Hull the first to signal an interest, but naturally he'll snub that offer. Owen Hargreaves will also leave for £7m as he's too injury prone and Nani is off, with Everton ready to launch an £8m bid.

A colleague at work (in The Netherlands)), whom is a very good friend with an unnamed person with the KNVB (Dutch FA) whom is very, very good friends with both Ryan Babel & Arjen Robben, has informed me that Babel will move to Arsenal for an undisclosed fee. Meanwhile, Robben is considering moving to Man Utd on loan for a season!

what is your source of this information? i know for a fact that the figures quoted here for evertons net spend are incorrect. granted they aren't hugely wrong but i'm assuming that the whole quote is bull considering the vast majority of transfers from non–plc clubs are undisclosed there is practically no way you could have this information.
"Veloso is still on the radar of Arsenal,Man City,Bolton and Aston Villa."

Bolton manager Gary Megson has already conceded that Veloso is out of Bolton's league and price ranged with the Sporting Lisbon ace being valued at around £9m–£14m. So, don't expect the trotters to be monitoring Veloso for much longer with Sporting Lisbon adament they have valuated Veloso accordingly. Shame. But Bolton are looking to sign Valencia striker Angulo on a free transfer and have shown interest in Portsmouth target Modeste M'bami, currently at Marseille.

  Man City News. . . .

I'm convinced another bid for John Terry is due this may go to the wire. . Betting odds tumbled today. . . . . .

Every single club in the UK would be glad of any cash injection or sale of an asset expect a few surprises
With Bassong deal secured, Spurs will now allow Pascal Chimbonda to move on with Hull leading the chase as by now Beye has turned them down and is on the verge of joining Aston Villa. Chimbonda himself is holding out for a move to a Southern based club with both Portsmouth and West Ham in the frame, but nothing firm in the way of offers.

Spurs are also braced for bids before the window shuts for Jenas, Keane, O'Hara, Bentley, Pavlyuchenko, Bale and Huddlestone. Expect the most likely departures to come from the midfield department as there is an excess of quality and potential at the club with Redknapp seeing squad depth coming from the emerging talents of Bostock, Rose & Livermore(all of these may go out on short term loans early in the season). There is no need to sell, but there is a slight restriction on salaries offered to players coming in due to the size of the professional squad(especially with the scrapping of the reserve side), so don't expect any marquee signings unless you see first team players leaving first and Redknapp only wants to add quality equal or better then the players leaving.

P.L.O.
I have it on good authority that a deal is in place with regards to jose mourinho succeeding SAF with strongs views from my source that the reason no big signings and a young squad is assembling is because SAF wants his dynasty to live on for years to come even when the great man has gone, leaving the money from the sale of ronaldo to the new manager for his input to the team!

Red Devil Dan
There's an awful lot of BS about finances on this site: I've posted before about HOW TO READ THE NUMBERS PROPERLY. Hope this passes the yawn stage and gets published.

Friday's posts included stuff about Man Utd on the verge of administration, and some numbers about clubs spending over 5 years, 2004 – 2009. Ok, the amounts spent are an indication, but in the business of football we all need to understand that a cp transfer doesn't mean it's money totally wasted/gone, it means it's a cp transfer, because the TRUE COST to the club is exactly the same as when you buy a car/van/yacht or whatever you drive.

You either made a good decision or your unhappy. You needed a car, so you got one. If it holds/accrues in value like some classics do, you've done well.

To extend the comparison:

Price to pay for car: Say £21K

Funded by: Selling old car: Say £5K at depreciated/amortised value. (it was worth more before you used it as a mobile waste tip)

You need to find £16K

Did you pay cash? Yes, must have been doing well! No? Then it's financed by a loan or overdraft/second mortgage/loan shark etc and you will pay interest!

So you've now got an asset worth £21K in year one. Using a straight line depreciation over the life of the car (three years?) you have to amortise its value at £7k per annum AND add the cost of the finance/interest if you didn't have the readies because you decided to have the car and a new conservatory. (Read Stadium).

So, after three years, you've funded the car, paid the PRICE + Finance charges and owe nothing to anyone. Assuming it's still got four wheels and moves, it's worth something and you flog it!

BTW Petrol/Deisel/Servicing running costs = player wages/bonuses and insurance is insurance!!

Getting back to footballers: Say you bought Kyle Naughton for £3 million. You think and account for him in exactly the same as with the imaginary car. BUT, it's probable he will eventually have a BIGGER VALUE than Spurs paid, if things work out etc.

Crouch on the other hand will be worth less because of his age: Guess Bent is somewhere in the middle, but remember half of his four year book value of £16.5 million will have been accounted for. If Spurs got £10 to £12 they made a paper 'profit'

BUT, here's the kicker. Spurs Balance sheet (as with all clubs) shows a straight amortised number. This total is mix of all players on the books. Good or bad, new or not. Some of them will be UNDERSTATED, but NONE OF THEM will be worth, or sold for less than their book value. Unless of course Boycie (Levy) gets stuffed:

Like the car analogy, you get a useful life, you pay/write it's value down then flog it for hopefully more than is shown on the books.

You pay for everything by spreading things out and relying on income to exceed outgoings. Sound familiar? Clubs get into bother when outgoings exceed reality and as the result of performance, income and value decreases. Peter Ridsdale was a genius comparable only to Mike Ashley!

As at December 2008, Spurs balance sheet showed the squad was worth £106,825,000: OBVIOUSLY the numbers change EVERY DAY. It's just a snapshot but I can tell you the numbers look very healthy. Why? Because Spurs have the lowest cost of debt (Loans/Finance charges) of any EPL Club except Chelsea (Man City?) whose rich uncles like to buy new cars at regular intervals and never ask for the readies back!

£80 million for Ronaldo, and it was all PROFIT since his original transfer cost would be on the books at the original value and have been written down 100% at least a tear ago: (Gonna leave the typo!)

MikeG (aka:In Harry We Hope)
Little Luis Garcia is coming home to Anfield, after being released by Atletico, he is in line for a shock move consisting of a one year deal with a further option, similar to when God returned. no more major signings except a defender and perhaps a move for Suarez who Rafa has been keen on for 18 months.
Why would 60 million of the Ronaldo fee go to service a debt then interest playments on which total 43.3 million annually? Even then, why would Fergie be forced into selling Vidic for a further 55 million? With 115 million, that would be about 1/5th of the debt paid off: I'm not sure how much our insider knows about the world of finance, but no bank would want (much less demand on pain of defaulting!) that much debt paid off at once. Why not? Because they make their money through interest payments, and the more capital is paid off, the lower the interest due. Simple.

I think you should wake up and see that debt or no debt, United is very well run club. If you don't agree, why not count the 3 Premier League titles, Champions League and two Carling Cups won since the take–over. How about the 68 million profit for Ronaldo? Or the 56 million AIG deal?

I think instead of making up scare stories, you should listen carefully to what Fergie and Gill are saying: money is available if needed. Fergie doesn't want to waste money, and prices in this transfer window have been inflated. Ronaldo will be missed, but Fergie thinks that he knows how to compensate (more traditional wing–play and a more orthodox two up–front, in case you didn't see the Asia tour or Valencia game)– only time will tell, but it's not often he gets something like this wrong. All of this is readily available on SkySports, a more reliable source than yours no doubt. Fergie and Gill know much better than you do how to run a successful football club, so leave it to the big boys, and get back to the Champ manager, yeah?

Sir Alex
First off jermaine beckford will be signing for charlton for 1 mill, arsenal will sign patrick viera, veloso, darijo srna, vagner love all for about 30 million, spurs will be signing guti for 4million and the swap deal involving jenas and muntari is imanent. Also expect adam johnson from middlesborough to go to aston villa after martin oneil was spotted at the riverside stadium this evening.
This is for the unnamed fiance of Scott Sinclair's couisin:

Sharkey replied, based on a working knowledge of both clubs:

>>There is no offer from Madrid, concrete

The unnamed fiance then provided the following reply to my response (all typing and grammatical errors are his):

>>>Uhhh, your inside information is a load

So, you are saying that this £30M "offer" has been kept quiet – in fact so quite that whilst neither club are aware of it, you and Scott Sinclair are. It beggers belief I am afraid.
Just try and accept there is no concrete £30M offer for Didier Drogba from Real Madrid being considered by the Chelsea hierarchy. I can only assume that Scott Sinclair has been pulling your leg just a little.

Roberto Martinez could be looking to cash in on Hull's dilly–dallying over Ross McCormack, and will have representatives at Cardiff tomorrow to consider a deal for the striker for £3.75M with add ons. Ross' agent allededly unhappy at last minute involvement by the Latics as the Hull deal was apparantly all but sealed. Koumas is NOT part of the bargain, but Martinez had previously mooted the idea to sell Koumas to Cardiff as bait for Joe Ledley. Cardiff priced Wigan out of the Ledley move but if McCormack deal is tied up giving Cardiff cash to spend, expect Ridsdale to signal a new move for Koumas.
Ever Banega from Valencia to Arsenal , announcement will be next week

"Can the scousers stop posting ridiculous rumours. don't mean to offend but you will not sign villa, silva or aguero. you simply don't have the money. the alonso money is coming in bits and peices from madrid and you just spent the majority of your budget on aquilani (great player). you just don't have the cash to buy villa, silva, aguero. they will cost about 40million (villa, aguero) and 25million (silva).

Yes you have re–financed but that doesn't mean you are in any less debt and you don't have the capital.

If villa, silva aguero will move anywhere it will be chelsea or man u they have the capital!!!!

Liverpool – cattermole, turner, jimenez. . . . . . . . . . . . "

To all the ABU'S out there. Mostly begrudging liverpool fans. There is nothing wrong with man united's financial situation. Fergie simply won't be ripped off. He has said several times they made a age in excess of 30mil for benzema. This was backed up by lyon who said that they accepted madrid's bid because it was higher. BAYERN ALSO said that fergie made inquiries about ribery. These two examples prove there is money to spend. I think all the speculation about man united in trouble is wishful thinkin on the part of some bitter scousers. –PRECOG–
Rafa Benitez is in for a new centre back to provide cover especially within the mini crisis Liverpool have at the back at the moment. This centre back will be cheap as Liverpool now have extremely tight funds left. Sylvain Distin is the biggest possibility, available at around £3–4million, due to the fact that he only has this season left to run on his contract and Pompey are in a dire financial situation at the moment during their takeover period and cannot afford to lose him on a free next Summer. Michael Turner was a possibility until Hull slapped a £10million price tag on his head so this is now a no–go. Rafa did want Micah Richards, but he will be unwilling to sit on the bench especially with the World Cup just around the corner. Michel Slagado is about to have the final year of his Real Madrid contract terminated and will be available on a free as Rafa is aware, and the other may shock you, but Sol Campbell's situation is being monitored, Liverpool may offer a trial at some stage. More than likely though, it will be Distin, before the big kick off against Spurs.
  To the guy who said:
Don’t get me wrong Liverpool fans, we probably do have the cash to sign Silva or at a push maybe Villa but it would be a massive gamble (due to the gaps in quality cover) and as you know from his style of football, Rafa does not take huge risks.

You say Rafa doesn't take huge risks? Well he's bought a Alonso replacement for around 20m who is Injury prone and will have to adapt to the premiership.
Anyway i do agree with most what you said, Also Liverpool have been linked with Ajax striker Luis Suarez.

A lot of people on here comment a lot on Liverpool not in the financial position to make major signings, but I can assure you now we already had £20m BEFORE the Alonso deal went through, so now Aquilani is a Liverpool player (I advise anyone to take a look at this guy on youtube, he looks like another Gerrard) we have £30m. No–one knows who Rafa wants. It's not like he's very good in the world of money nor is he known to sign replacements. I know he is interested in the following; Aguero, Villa, Silva, Negredo, Van Der Vaart, Mata, Turner, Cattermole, Sneijder, Robben and a lot more. I can see Turner joining, and I believe he is doing his upmost to sign Cattermole, but the £12m Wigan want is far too steep. Silva is his no. 1 priority and is unwilling to add an extra £3m on his £19m bid, so it is likely Lucas could be added to the deal. He also wants Aguero and has made a bid of £25m plus Benayoun and Dossena.
