Birmingham have made an enquiry about Eidur Gudjohnsen and the wages that he would be seeking. Eidur is available at what I understand is a reasonable fee and it is clear that he has no future with Monaco.

Sharkey.

I've also heard about this, Fulham are after him aren't they? Really hope he signs for us, would be great with Zigic! Have you got any news on the Clyne and Dembele situations? I'm eager to know whether we're close to signing them! Would be great for blues!(5)(10)

Only one more player will be signed by Arsene Wenger this summer, likely to be either Mertesacker, Tasci or Diakhate. Mertesacker is currently the favourite. No midfield players will be signed, none are needed with Wilshere and Lansbury able to fill in whenever needed. I personally am in favour of Wilshere taking Walcotts place in the first XI, any other views?

Please post

Can anyone tell me who the trialist at the rangers u19's friendly with Cambuslang Rangers juniors.

Some of the gers fans were signing 'there only one cristiano'

he played upfront and hugged the right touchline good touch, very direct and had a scorching left foot. He looks around 6ft and built like a brick st house. May be of Afro–carribean decent

probably nothing other than a trialist but the 2000 or so fans took to him and cheered every touch.

Brentford have made a bid for Millwall's gary alexander , gary was left out of neil harris's testimonial game today as kenny jacket has told him to think over the offer over the weekend.
Sad to see him leave if he does but tbh he is a league one player at best , hopefully Millwall will replace him with Austin or simpson ,
Milllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.(15)(15)

'Micheal Tounge is the shock signing at Elland Road!!
He will join next week on a free transfer from Stoke City following his release, he will wear number 18 at ER with Bruce wearing number 4. '.

Tonge played and scored in Stoke's win v Burnley today. Unusual for a player who has apparently been released.

Stoke the latest club interested in Eidur Gudjohnsen.(13)(32)

AND THE BIGGEST SHOCK OF ALL:

KAKA – CHELSEA

just one problem with this, well actually there are two! if bentley and keane go to villa it would mean ashley young going to spurs!, he has already pleaded with mon to sell him to spurs once and will so again. also he will not be going any further north, his sister has already stated of his desire to return home(7)(44)

 31 Jul 2010 19:38:11
Forest have agreed fees for 3 players they are bertrand, pratley, and whittingham 2 will sign mo day they will be pratley And bertrand as whittingham. Is thinking over offers from both forest and burnley!

Also offers have gone in to loan michael Johnson with view to buy and Curtis Davis, also bid for Austin being considered and an unnamed surprise signing is expected Ed you heard any of this or any other names? {editor's note – those names have all been floating about for a while now, I would be surprised if any ended up joining.}(11)(27)

 31 Jul 2010 19:42:32
There was a rumour a few days ago about a young arabian training with the LFC kids.

I've just been watching 'the academy' on the LFC channel and there was indeed a young and overweight arabian looking player training and also on the sidelines against Celtic. This would certainly verify the rumour that was posted earlier.(28)(25)

 31 Jul 2010 18:47:30
Not a rumour just a opinion! i think all rumours affecting liverpool should be put on a new page called Y.A.W.N! JUST AN OPINION BECAUSE THEN ALL THERE DELUDED FANS CAN DREAM AND FANTASISE ALL TO EACHOTHER and not inflict the same bull on everyone else? im looking forward to a load of crying scousers to take offence to this and spill there bile back! now i wonder whats on the history channel?(16)(46)

 31 Jul 2010 18:48:06
31 Jul 2010 14:15:24
Stoke City willing to cut the transfer fee for Dave Kitson to get rid of him – Pulis and him don't get on (putting it mildly). Bristol City will be back in for him as it now makes it possible to get Kitson within the pay structure offset by a good up front signing on payment. Kitson was Coppells primary target this season.

Apparently, Bristol City never closed discussions and have reached agreement with Stoke and Kitson. Signing early next week in time for the opening game next saturday. Barring any hitches (which is always possible with Kitson who represents himself).(21)(12)

 31 Jul 2010 18:52:37
And if Ozil were to sign or anyone else for that matter, would properly be handed the vacant No.12 Shirt.

Other than the fact that chris smalling has been playing under the number 12 in pre season and looks likely to take the number in the new season..you're spot on ;–)(8)(23)

 31 Jul 2010 18:59:59
I get fed up of reading lfc rumours on here. Your a team in decline. All you have is history. No present! When you gonna win the premier league

Completely agree, they think because they got cole they will be great again, gerrard isn't the same player and torres is unhappy and always injured, there engine in mascherano will be gone, defence weak and idiot owners. Not looking good so where do all these transfer rumours come from? Also the idiot who said about villa sayin young and milner worth 30m? i havnt seen anyone say it? villa will only sell milner for 30m which is overpriced but liverpool are doing the same with torres he isn't worth 60m, 35 – 40m max. And ashley young hasnt even been valued as no one is going in for him anyway so why discuss it?(14)(38)

 31 Jul 2010 19:06:22
I have a news for LFC fans:
Forget Defour, the one who Hodgson wants to sign as Mascherano's replacement is none other than Masch's countryman Fernando Gago.
U heard it here first from 'UNDERTAKER'.(17)(32)

 31 Jul 2010 19:07:09
Toni Kallio and Gregory Vignal on trial at Cardiff.
Ricardo Faty on trial at Blackburn
Pletikosa(spartak moscow keeper) has indicated he would prefer move to Celtic rather than Spurs.
Real Madrid looking to sell one of M.Diarra, L.Diarra or Gago after arrival of Kherida. They will try and sell 2 of them if Inter sign Mascherano, as Mourinho will then attempt to convince Cambiasso to return.Maicon to Madrid should happen also which would mean Ramos in central defence this season.(15)(12)

 31 Jul 2010 19:10:52
–Christian Poulsen's agent Joern Bonnesen believes the Liverpool link is a no–goer

"Christian will stay in Turin. Whatever name comes out on the papers doesn't correspond to the reality, "

"I hope that this response closes this episode for sure. He needs to train regularly, and even he is tired of speaking about the market."(24)(13)

 31 Jul 2010 19:16:25
Tonge probably stay at Brit. KPB will sign after Sonko join Portsmouth and it will happen this week due to Whelan injury. Cole and Noble in the week before season opening. Soares will move away.(10)(10)

 31 Jul 2010 19:21:16
IT seem's The mesut ozil transfer to united is gathering pace. As it seems all party's are keen to thrash out a deal.
I have been told by good sources in germany that ozil is quoted in germanys as saying: It would be a dream to play for manchester united.

Look out for the daily star sunday tommorrow for more information on this but it seems very likely ozil will be a man utd player next season. He seem's very keen to move to the premier league aswell and the fact that united have been monitoring for a long time and tried to sign him when he was at schalke is a good omen.
I heard wisper's that anderson or berbatov could be used as bait for the deal aswell. (not to sure about that though.)(23)(22)

 31 Jul 2010 19:24:32
An update on the on–going saga of Hatem Ben Arfa. Tommaso Ghirardi of Parma anounced today that the club are hoping Ben Arfa agrees to join them before their match against Santander – which I think is on Wednesday.

In my opinion, this would be a pretty unlikely move for Ben Arfa.

In respect of the Birmingham City support and Ed at 31 Jul 2010 17:32:34:

"Ed, you got any Birmingham news regarding transfer targets or nearly completed deals?) Much appreciated, thanks. {editor's note – I haven't heard anything from Birmingham, apart from the one you mentioned, Hleb. Would be a good signing I think, he has got great ability, shame he is a little lightweight.}"

Birmingham have made an enquiry about Eidur Gudjohnsen and the wages that he would be seeking. Eidur is available at what I understand is a reasonable fee and it is clear that he has no future with Monaco.

CHELSEA_til_I_die said at 31 Jul 2010 17:19:53

"I have heard from a source within the Chelsea youth and reserve management team that the club are not looking to sell but loan out their most promising youngsters. Scott Sinclair is believed to be given one more chance to go out on loan before he will be up for sale if he doesn't show signs of breaking into the side. Palace and QPR are after his signature on a season long loan, ...."

I thought that Scott Sinclair was entering the last year of his contract. If so, a season long loan would mean Chelsea will get nothing at the end of it. As such it makes no sense unless the player is willing to commit to a new contract. I think it is really time for Sinclair to move on – he is mid table fodder at best.

Ed , you heard anymore about craig bellamy signing for celtic . tk67 {editor's note – nothing mate, I don't think it is likely to happen now, I think Fulham would be more likely. I would say Spurs but I don't think City will sell him to them.}(33)(18)

 31 Jul 2010 18:19:02
Southampton want to bring in 3 more players before the season starts.

Benjani–alot of rumours going around about this.

emmanuel Frimpong–on a season long loan deal–sats so in the sun and the daily mail

Darren carter–who had a great trial last week

what 3 players do you reckon we will bring in?(17)(13)

'Micheal Tounge is the shock signing at Elland Road!!
He will join next week on a free transfer from Stoke City following his release, he will wear number 18 at ER with Bruce wearing number 4.'

I take it you mean Tonge who hasn't been released at all. In fact so far both Derby and Sheff Utd have failed to land him with the latter publically saying they couldn't afford him.

Bellamy will decide by Monday if he will join Stoke on a year loan or not.

Stoke are considering walking away from their interest in Carton Cole although West Ham have said they will sell for the right price.

John Carew has emerged as a surprise target after interest from another Prem club as Carew's agent has hinted that he would prefer a move to the Britannia. West Brom believed to be the interested club.(22)(18)

Liverpool will lodge an official bid for steven defour within the next three days, ive been told that they have contacted standard and they are leaving it up to the player to decide whether he goes or not.this however does not depend on javier mascherano leaving, there are still funds available, in the region of £13–17m left allocated for transfers.
i was also told that there is no news on the figueroa front, although there were whispers coming from anfield last week that it was basically a done deal, my feeling on it is that the transfer has fell through..there is no news on hodgson signing a sriker.

Hi Ed any news on who Marquez will be signing for
since he has been released from barcelona?

STE.F {editor's note – I haven't anything, but I think he will end up in the MLS.}

It seems he's destined to join Henry at the New York Red Bulls.(28)(12)

 31 Jul 2010 18:26:56
The rumours on this webiste about Kuyt leaving liverpool are rubbish. Just recently, Kuyt said that he is happy to finish his career at Liverpool. The only big names to leave the club are Mascherano and Insua (Inter and Florentina respectively).

Three players will come in:
Poulsen from Juventus (replacement to Masch)
Ruiz (Wing/Striker similar to Jovanovic)
Lopez from Athletico (solves the left back problem)

Thanks,
Sahil(25)(43)

 31 Jul 2010 18:30:44
Not so much a rumour more a statement of fact, just watched the Arsenal/Milan game, if Wenger can't see that he needs a 6ft 5' defender and a new goalie he should hang his head in shame. All the same failings from last year yet to be addressed.

Ed – do you know for sure if either of the above are to be signed?? {editor's note – Wenger has been trying hard to sign both, but neither are easy to come by. That is why players like Gallas were allowed to leave, Wenger knows he needs someone taller, but signing one and wanting one are two different things. I still expect a centre back to sign, the goal keeper situation is starting to look desperate though.}(23)(9)

Doni to sign wayne thomas on a free and nigel ranger on loan from newcastle once they sign a striker

A Loan Ranger?(12)(16)

 31 Jul 2010 18:33:34
I recently worked with a rangers scout of some 20yrs, a lot of these guys work at a certain level within clubs and are often unaware of who the clubs are targeting. Believe it or not it's not unusual for there to be Celtic minded people within the rangers scouting network tipping of Celtic about who rangers are looking at, I'm talking youth level here. In fact I'm told that up until fairly recently this was a real problem at ibrox.

that's 'allegedly' why George Adams got sacked as head of Murray Park

Man utd news:

Just been on the phone to a friend of mine who has sources close to the club and he has confirmed to me the following:

Mesut ozil is number 1 target and negotiations are tacking place fee is yet to be agreed.

Steven defour is still a priority however sir alex want's to see how he recovers from his serious injury, BUT if liverpool join the race to sign him sir alex will act quickly and try to snap him up, and defour preffered destination is old trafford from what i have heard in germany.

Firm interest still in karim benzema no offer on the table yet.

there is absoutley no interest in mario balotelli at all, balotelli agent was trying to drum up the price to get man city to up the offer.

diouf and cleverly will be going out on loan to west brom and sunderland respectively."

Perhaps i'm being a little slow today, but why would you be getting info about Defour from Germany?(26)(31)

 31 Jul 2010 18:35:17
Liam Rosenior will be a Leicester City player by kickoff to the first game of the season. He was seen at the Walkers Stadium today watching the friendly vs Sunderland. RANGERS agree fee with vienna for croat jelavic 2.8 million also on walters wish list are chis eagles AGAIN and fabio of man utd but an unexpected bid could be tabled for hibernians paul hanlon if the fabio loan deal dosen't go through rangers will be outbidded by celtic for beneluane but is said to prefer a move to ibrox instead so rangers could op for highly rated south african stopper khumalo he would be guarenteed a place in the starting 11 since bougherra will be on his way TOTTENHAM/LIVERPOOL/ARSENAL/HAMBURG/SEVILLA alot of interest from clubs around europe 5.5 million but rangers might settle for 4.5 gattuso will join AEK Athens on a 2 year deal before heading to glasgow OH!! also alan hutton to join on season long loan so the rangers ins will be– Hutton (LOAN) khumalo 2 million jelavic 2.8 million/3 million after add ons fabio loan eagles if sale of bougherra is completed to free up wages outs will be bougherra velicka–barnsley if miller leaves healy will brought in for a fee of around 1.5 million.

Benaloune has said he wants to come to rangers and has said he will be prepared to see out the remainder of his contract if it meant he could move to us next season if a fee cannot be agreed, if bougherra goes i expect to see khumalo and benaloune arrive. I can't see fabio signing because SAF would want him playing first team football and he wouldn't get ahead of papac but hanlon could be a possibility because hes young and with papac out of contract next season he could be a real possibility. I can't see eagles coming. Bougherra is 50–50 to stay because i don't think he will be happy to sit on anyones bench so he would need to be guarenteed first team football.

I have heard from a source within the Chelsea youth and reserve management team that the club are not looking to sell but loan out their most promising youngsters. Scott Sinclair is believed to be given one more chance to go out on loan before he will be up for sale if he doesn't show signs of breaking into the side. Palace and QPR are after his signature on a season long loan, when the club do accept Sinclair has the choice of linking up with Warnock again at QPR or returning to Palace. Palace are also understood to be leading the chase for Ryan Bertrand. This is very likely to materialise as Chelsea believe clubs such as Palace, Reading and Watford give their youngsters valuable first team football. Reading are also after him, but it is understood Bertrand will be in favour of joining Palace. Patrick van Aanholt is set to leave on loan as well, with Bristol City close to tieing up a deal. Franco di Santo and Michael Mancienne are not for sale, but are being touted around the Premier League, so Chelsea could sell up or just loan them out again.

Crystal Palace are chasing Colchester United duo Anthony Wordsworth and Marc Tierny for a combined fee of £600,000. Palace also in for Chelsea pair Scott Sinclair and Ryan Bertrand and Zavon Hines of West Ham on season–long loan deals. This is from a source close to the club, but do not expect these deals to materialise straight away. Capaldi and Garvan should complete their transfers once the Football League shares are passed over to CPFC 2010.

It's going to be less than we'd hoped for, but there will be two new faces through the City Ground door this week.

After finally giving up on Shorey based on a tentative enquiry from Liverpool, Forest will now look to sign young Chelsea left back Ryan Bertrand for an undisclosed fee. Bertrand is behind Van Aarnholt in the pecking order at Chelsea but impressed on loan at Reading last season.

The second will finally be the conclusion of the Pratley saga, enough said there. The clubs finally agreed a fee Friday and the player will sign as soon as he returns from Swansea's preseason tour on Monday.

So no centre back, no wide player, no new firepower upfront and no back up keeper. Still not a successfull transfer window but I'm assured that Whittingham is still a strong possibility, as well as Austin from Swindon. Still no word from my guy on a centre back, although rumours elsewhere seem to be gethering pace about Malenwe (spelling is certainly wrong here!), the experienced one BD worked with at Preston.

All the best,

Birmingham have put another £10m bid in for Charles N'Zogbia, but I really don't see the point to be honest, because Wigan are standing firm with regards to selling N'Zogbia, just a waste of time of you ask me.

Anyway, Juan Roman Riquelme has agreed a 4–year deal with Boca Juniors, so that ideas out the window. Haven't heard anymore on any others, except Barcelona offering us Alexsandr Hleb (spelling?) for £4 million. Bargain if you ask me, but his wages would be a no–go.

Anyone else to add to that?^ Cheers. (Ed, you got any Birmingham news regarding transfer targets or nearly completed deals?) The storm clouds are gathering once more over Villa Park with Learner taking direct control of player sales , aquisitions and contract negotiations. This will strain relations with MON who could return to Celtic, particularly after his comments earlier this week about his time at the club.

The personn who wrote this is an obvious deluded celtic fan, there is no proof that lerner is taking control of player sales etc, he has made it clear players need to be sold in order to buy which is fair enough but there is no rift than there already was which was very little but o'neil wil not be going to celtic, his career has moved up now and won't take a step down in his career so dream on. "Stephen Ireland is the reason David Gill flew back to England half way through Uniteds USA tour."

I believe Gill came out today and in a interview clearly said he hadn't gone back to Manchester at any point during the tour, it did however hint at maybe another signing.

"Strong rumous coming from old Trafford suggesting that Man utd and Werder Bremen have reached an agreement in the region of 18 million for mesut ozil (3 year contract) and he will join up with his new team mates as early as next week.
Repots also coming in is that he will get the famous number 7 shirt."

Where to start, I have never known us to sign a player on a 3–year deal unless its special circumstances like Owen for example who was 29 at the time and had bad injury problems and we brought as a quick fix after missing out on Benzema, Ozil age & potential & just general talent would merit the club giving him at least a 4 or 5 year contract imo. And I really can't see why the club and SAF would hand over the no.7 Shirt off Owen onto Ozil just like that that would only happen if Owen requested a shirt change before the season kicked off. And if Ozil were to sign or anyone else for that matter, would properly be handed the vacant No.12 Shirt.

As for the person who said something along the lines of Ozil and Muller can work together at Bayern since they both did at the World Cup.

Muller played RW in that World Cup with Ozil in the hole, Muller doesn't play RW at Bayern, he like Ozil plays in that hole between the Defense and Midfield in a 4–4–1–1 shape in which Muller will drop deep to make it a 5–man midfield when defending and link up with Olic up top when they attack, and Muller can't shift to RW as Robben is there, that would only change if Robben were injured. I also think Van Gaal likes working with young players, and Muller is one of Bayern's and Germany's future stars that fits that bill, to bring in Ozil could hinder any development Muller obtains as Muller still only 20 and younger then Ozil, And Bayern don't need strengthen in that area last time I looked, the only area they imo need looking at is CB and maybe GK, as I'm not Butt biggest fan.

As for the Defour rumors, I think SAF will want to wait a least 6–12 months to see how Defour recovers from his injury setback before he would make a potential move for him, SAF won't want to end up having the same situation with Defour his currently having with Hargreaves. If a bid did come in for him this summer though from any team, then maybe that might change.

I will stat though midfield is an area of concern for us, we lack an out and out CDM who can just sit they and do the dirty work, whilst building up the attacks with short passing from deep. And we lack a forward thinking playmaker who can unlock a defense with a through ball. Its area SAF will want to get sorted out imo before the 1st of September If we were to bring in another player that is.

I'm not going to sit here and say I'm in the know for anyone asking/wondering, far from it actually, but I do like reading some of the stuff posted on here, but thought come on here and clear few things up.(19)(20)

I have seen lots of rumours on Liverpool on this site and whilst this is not a rumour it should rubbish many of the rumours posted about the Reds.
New EPL ruling means that a side has to name a squad of no more than 25 players of which 8 have to be home grown. Home grown means a player from any nation who has spent 3 yrs or more at and english or welsh club before the age of 21. Liverpool have only 4 first team players who qualify. Yes Kelly, Shelvey, Spearing and I think even Pacheco also qualify, but tried and tested first team players who qualify must be a priority. So whilst Roy may sign foreign players, I would expect 2 or 3 english signings before. Unfortunately, other EPL teams also know of Liverpool's lack of "home grown" players hence the silly amounts being asked for the likes of Luke YOung and Paul Konchesky.(14)(20)

In reply to Bungle the Ed. noted at 31 Jul 2010 09:52:10:

".There will only be one other signing, I believe, and that is a central midfielder, one of Defour, Poulsen or possibly Banega. Defour will depend on United not going for him, we won't be able to compete with them after all the groundwork Fergie has put in"

I am going to stick my neck out and say that it is my opinion that Liverpool will target Standard Liege's Axel Witsel, not Steven Defour, as a replacement for Mascherano. Not only can he play as a defensive midfielder he has an excellent goal scoring record. If they can prise hime away I think he would be an excellent buy. But what do I know?

Sharkey.

Lfc fans expect no major striking talent to be bought expect babel and pacheco to get game time up front with torres and do the business.

the flanks will be strengthened after the sale of masch with s.w.p an turan being bought with amoo and eccleston used as cover hodgson likes old fashioned pace on the wings so kuyts days could be numbered.

midfielders ireland or defour will be bought and ive heard from a utd fan season ticket etc whover utd don't want liverpool get which is ok really because there both very good players plus utd are being forced into a decision about defour with liverpool apparantly about to make a bid.

also michael johnson (at city and on transfer list) who imo was one of englands brightest talents now falls into the 'what if' categorie he has had alcohol problems since his fathers death and i can't see him fulfilling his potential hope he proves me wrong which ever club he goes to he reminded me of a young gerrard.(10)(19)

I can tell you officially that the number of people who know whats going on regarding the LFC takeover is less than 10 at BarCap and a similar number at LFC. Some of us have seen the financial figures and can say that whilst the situation is precarious at LFC they are indeed nowhere near any talk of administration.

The only thing people who are not directly involved in the sales process can tell you is that activity has begun to dramatically increase as they have booked the meeting rooms more.

This could involve either the possible sale or a refinancing of the existing loans BUT I don't know and can only take an educated guess.

All rumours are from conversations with Northern agent friends. I know Celtic fans hate me for it but here are my Scottish rumours for the week.

Celtic Fc Mc Geady still key to anything but if he decides to go abroad to Russia Celtic will use the money to bring in a striker – not Bellamy –and a CB IF HE STAYS HE WILL BE YOUR NUMBER 7 . If epl bound Celtic will sign Mc Fadden – he is desparate to go back and strut his stuff. Samaras will stay unless 2 million bid comes in.

Rangers FC – IT WILL ALL HAPPEN IN NEXT TWO WEEKS. If Bougherra goes Benaloune will be signed. If not the two South Africans will go to them . Hutton swap for Bougherra or loan is in progress or if no deal on that season long loan will be agreed Either way and I HAVE KNOWN FOR THREE WEEKS NOW HUTTON IS GOING BACK TO RANGERS.

HEALY IS AGREED IN PRINCIPLE and WELCOME starts his one week trial on Monday. Jelavic is now a £3 million target depends how much Walter has spare.

Loans – no youth loans coming in but one has been agreed for an experienced player from abroad. – not Gattuso.

Rangers have told Hull that the £1 million owed to them from Daniel Cousin signing will go to Court – Hull have just got 1.5 for Myrrhe so they might pay up. Bullard still available for loan – work it out..

This could involve either the possible sale or a refinancing of the existing loans BUT I don't know and can only take an educated guess.

Is this site just full of liverpool fans? haha

Whats with the liverpool to sign ashley young and milner they can't afford them, young is happy at villa and milner will only go for money at city. They was in the st before hodgson came and because they got cole all of a sudden they are talking of gettin aguero etc rubbish ill tell ya!

Not too good at villa i must say though, O'neil won't be at villa park come next season i think due to the lack of funds this season and making no progress on the squad, the only possilble things happening at the moment are as followed:

Out:
Milner
LUKE Young
Sidwell
Beye
Shorey
Harewood

In:
Flamini
Mcgeardy :(
Keane
Maybe Ireland in a swap deal

This is just paper talk at the moment although O'neil has indicated himself his interest in the ireland duo of keane, mcgeardy and ireland but aslong as milner stays no buisness will be done apart from maybe keane.

Milner is about £10m – £12m worthy of player – a good utility player but not much more. If Villa rate him at £30m then they'll just have to keep him and he will not be happy. Liverpool offered about £16m for Barry when he was worth about £12m and they held out for £18m – they eventually got £12m (I think) from Citeh. I suspect O'Neill is as pig headed as he seems – overpricing players does not work.

You who wrote that you are an idiot!

We brought milner for 12m! He had a fantastic season for us did more than any of your players last season and the league table doesn't lie. He was pfa young player of the season and was in the team of the season that's another 10m added so that's 22m, he is a home grown player so an extra 2m so that's 24m, and he is in many peoples opinion our best player so we can add another 5m on to that, that's 29m, that's what villa have took into consideration we arnt gonna let our best player go for the price he is worth. In my opinion he is worth about 18m at most but we will make any team pay the odds for him and ashley young.

And also you muppet, you said milner wouldn't be happy, go and do some fckin research or stick to talking about who liverpool 'want' to sign but can't get. Milner has said himself that he will NOT force a transfer out of villa and if he stays he will give 110% his words not mine you complete muppet, stick to your own team before commenting on others because you really don't no what your talking about.

And since when has liverpool even enquired about milner? its either manchester city or aston villa for him end of story.

Talk about O'neil inflating the market also, 50 – 60m you want for torres? The player who i admit is fantastic when he isn't sitting on the bench injured! he had an awful world cup and season last year and he again is currently injured so why would someone pay 50 – 60m for him when they can get someone like aguero, higuain, suarez who have great strike rates for cheaper. We are doing the exact same thing your doing with torres so you answer that?? same applies to you saying our players arnt happy to be at villa when they have clearly stated they are, young wants a new contract? and milner said he will give his all? has torres said that? i remember the rumours that he wants out of liverpool and wants to go to chelsea correct me if im wrong?

Mueller played on the right for Germany. That will not happen at Bayern because of a certain scar–faced frenchman and a dutch winger, both of whom happen to be quite good. Mueller played the whole season as a second striker behind Olic, meaning Ozil would have no place at Bayern. Also Bremen would not sell to them anyway. I am not claiming to be related to a cleaner who overheard a conversation or to have inside knowledge.

But gut feelings on this Liverpool will definately move for Defour from Standard Liege initial offer of 10 Million but i suspect will have to pay slightly more maybe in region of 12m.

Obv this will only happen with the sale of macherano, Liverpool may tho look to man city as lets face it with barry, de jong, vieira, toure and many others on there books surely they need to offload.

May be a cheeky Bid for barry for 15m just tto test the water, but more likely to go in for Ireland and Wayne Bridge.

Other than that I can only see Bids for Wingers as Joe Cole coming in for a central role we are short of pacey wingers when i say short i mean they have none. no one i can put my finger on but wouldn't mind seeing them go for hamburg's dutch youngster Elia very very pacey.(16)(13)

Just heard a rumour, not sure as how accurate it is, may the ed could confirm it, but i've herad that Steven Defour is being eyed up as a replacement for Alberto Aquilani who roy hodgson does not seem to rate, he has been watching him closely for the 1st 3 games and isn't impressed. Defour would be much better suited to the fast paced Premiership than Aquilani. He is looking to flog him to juve, and is prepared to offer him in exchange for Poulsen. Not too keen on the signing of poulsen myself, but we do need someone to replace the Inter bound Mascherano, i'm hoping for Banega, but Anthony Annan from Rosenborg would also be a reasonable option an wouldn't cost too much. ed? Mbokani for Liverpool..forget it. If you are going to start rumours, make them believable. He signed for Monaco yesterday!
Dufour (who scored the equaliser last night for Standard) will sign for United IF he moves to England. This was from the man himself LAST SUMMER when I spoke to him in the players lounge at Stade Sclessin. He is on his way back from a major injury and has hardly played in 12 months.
He is a cracking player and was Genk's and Belgium's captain at 19 and Standard's at 21! The English game will suit him perfectly. He loves the Premiership and used to quiz me on it all the time. Crystal Palace rumour here, hardly ground shaking, but have it on good authority that George Burley's been looking at a few Colchester players, reportedly unhappy under the new management there.

Names involved appear to be Anthony Wordsworth and Marc Tierny as Burley looks to give the south London outfit a bit more depth.

Also looking for a third keeper and he may opt for Wes Foderingham formerly of Fulham or Ben Williams also at Colchester.

No he won't, atleast not till SAF has had his say on the matter. Liverpool have no chance in hell of signing him if Utd really want him because Utd can comfortably outbid them and have the advantage of a good relationship between SAF and Defour. It is as good as a first refusal.

I am going to stick my neck out and say that it is my opinion that Liverpool will target Standard Liege's Axel Witsel, not Steven Defour, as a replacement for Mascherano. Ed – everyone seems eager to hear about the Liverpool takeover just as I am. People seem to have some information about the take over, but do you not think whoever the interested party that may be would have their own investment banker going through the books. You never seem to hear about that and surely if anyone has any genuine information than they will surely be aware of them too.

If BarCap are appointed for the sale then surely that would be on behalf on Liverpool FC to conduct the sale to find what is best in interest of the owners. This would not be in best interest of the buyer.
Just like you have said on numerous times that everything is done away from the club and no information can be found, i am surprised that numerous people claim to have information, which is truly made up or fantasised.

Again in my opinion next few signings will show how close Liverpool is to being taken over.

What do you think Ed? {editor's note – people like to seem like they are in the know, but very few are. The only way we will know if they really are is when the sale goes through they are proved right. Until then we just have to take everything with a pinch of salt.}(12)(25)

Liverpool News.

Steven Defour will sign for £10m (€12.2m).Honestly I'm worried because I have a bad feeling that Defour won't stay back an he'll attack to much and leave HUGE gap for the opisition to run into.

Defour is normally used as a Box–to–Box midfielder, not a defensive mid.

What we need is either Lee Cattermole or Éver Banega.

And I also think Maynor Figueroa will be a flop and I think that Carlos Salcido should sign for £3m.

Then we would have a great team ;)

Johnson :Carragher Agger :Salcido :

Gerrard:Aqua
Cole :Kuyt

Have it from a very reliable source that Liverpool have formally enquired about the availability of Milner from Villa – However, Villa will not budge from their current valuation of £30m which, for a player who is far from world class, is way too much – Kuyt is expected to leave for a fee of around £12 – £15m and, lets be honest, Milner is not a great deal better, so the Reds will look elsewhere.
They also asked about Young, but were quoted the same ! If Villa are not careful, they are going to have a squad full of very unhappy, overpriced players who are not allowed to leave !What do you no the ashley young and james milner then personally? Have they told you there unhappy at villa? no i think not

Young has not mentioned liverpool once so your just making up things what you want to hear your an idiot, Young has made it clear through several papers and interviews that if villa lay a new contract on the table he will sign so id get some actual evidence of what you say before you do. Milner has also said that he will give 100% every game if he stays at villa because he is not trying to force a move, you just make youself look a fool because your in the same position as us, i can say you are gonna have an unhappy torres at your team? think about what you say idiot. You cannot afford young or milner so move on and sign luke young from us please.

A question for ED.Who do you think Liverpool will sign before the season starts

We all agree we need a left back and a top class striker.im not questioning your contacts as to be fair you jump on the rumours that are flying around

So who do you think we will sign ?

Bungle {editor's note – I think it will be a left back, I am hoping Lopez from Atletico but I think it is unlikely unless Nando has a word with him and convinces him to join. A striker/winger such as Ruiz, Hodgson likes utility players like that as it gives him options to change things around. There will only be one other signing, I believe, and that is a central midfielder, one of Defour, Poulsen or possibly Banega. Defour will depend on United not going for him, we won't be able to compete with them after all the groundwork Fergie has put in. I believe that will be the most amount of signings Liverpool will make – Roy might not even get all 3 in, but he won't be looking for more than that.}(31)(21)

"Liverpool Swoop For Defour"

Roy Hodgson is eying a possible move for the Manchester United target Steven Defour. Roy Hodgson is set to lose Argentinian Mascherano and eyes Defour and Juve star Poullsen.

I remember being linked with Poullsen as a replacment for Alonso so I can't see this happening. I would much rather see an English midfielder if we need one. I would rather spend the £20mil+ we get for Masch on a WORLD CLASS STRIKER.(55)(42)

 31 Jul 2010 11:22:48
Arsenal are to make at least another 3 signings before the window shuts. A GK and 2 defenders are coming in. AW could also move for a couple of midfielders.
GK– This will be Sebastien Frey. Fiorentina have just bought Boruc and say both will fight for the number 1 spot but Wenger will move for Frey and he is the right age at 30 to help bring the younger keepers through so they will be hitting their peak when he leaves. The reason they will move for Frey is because Cagliari have upped their asking price from 6 mil to 12 mil and of course Arsene isn't willing to pay that.Frey will come in for around 8 million.
DEF– Pers Mertasacker will sign for Arsenal for 11 million the only thing holding up the deal is that Arsene is looking at the possibility of bring Ozil with him.
The other defender is Cristian Zapata from Udinese. He can cover any where along the back four and is only 23 and with his contract up in 2012 Udinese are looking to move him on for 10–12 million but Juve are also very intressed in him.
MID– This one won't happen until after the season starts if it happens at all. Nigel De Jong from Man City could be signed in the last week of the transfer window. With Ozil iv heard Wenger really wants him but it will be like the Arshavin deal after the Euros he wants to wait until January to let the World Cup hype die down but if someone does make a concrete offer for Ozil id expect Wenger to go for him as well.

Thats the only players Arsenal will possibly sign this window. No strikers will be bought in unless AW has a change of heart after the season kicks off but that's very unlikely.

As for Fabregas I do believe he will stay for 1 more season. If Ozil comes in during this window or the January 1 he is his replacement though I wouldn't expect Arsene to be spending big to replace him as he has Nasri, Ramesy, Wilshire who could all step up. The only other name that is being linked that could replace him is Honda from CSKA. Only heard on sites like these that he would go to Arsenal so nothing concrete about him.(37)(27)

However this scout told me that Scott brown was desperate to sign for rangers but the money Celtic where offering was nearly double what rangers would offer.(60)(99)

Liverpool FC:

Hodgson playing hardball over Masch is great as Rafa valued him at 50m so why should we sell for any less than 30m?

This will lead to Inter turning their immediate attention to Kuyt. Expect confirmation of a bid next week. In a Dutch paper interview it was confirmed that Rafa was in contact with Dirk during the WC wishing him well etc and they have a massive mutual affection for one another.

Hodgson realises this and is braced for this bid and is happy to listen to offers over 12m as he wants to bring in genuine pace on RW.

What are your thoughts ED? Is 12 m good business for a 30 yr old Dirk who prob doesn't have the pace or skill for a RM start every week?

Jazzman {editor's note – I would snap their hands off for 12m, he is a trier but not good enough ability wise.}(36)(40)

Liverpool FC

Wigan have completed the signing of Stam who plays at LB (source Skysports). If the comments of figueroa's agent is considered then it would seem that liverpool are closing in to sign him. The fee is touted in the region of 8 million euros (5.5 million pounds).
What do you think ED?

Sense And Logic. {editor's note – more chance of him than there ever was of Young signing!}
(4) (3) i'm getting the feeling Ed you really didn't want Young to sign for Liverpool!! ;)

Big rumours doing the rounds about Huddlestone and Poulsen replacing Masch.

Rennie {editor's note – I just knew it wasn't happening, amazing how the papers make up lies and people believe them. Then when they backtrack on the lies and make up new ones people still believe them.}

Yeah well done Ed you got that one right. You seem to have contacts with the scouting dept at Liverpool. Do you know anything about this new rumour of Defour??

I hope so, he really is the real deal, scouted by many of the big clubs and is a mix of Masch and Alonso, so would be ideal (in my opinon!)

Rennie

p.s. Ed keep up the good work – great site! {editor's note – all I know is that Roy went to see Defour's side play last night. He had made no decision on him before then, so it will probably depend on if he likes what he sees. That is if it really is Defour he went to watch!}(32)(12)

Couple of Man City rumors here

Ghanaian sensation Asamoah Gyan has been spotted in Manchester, my Dad's mate is a gardener in Wilmslow and has spotted Gyan viewing a house with his missus, it's related to City because Gary Cook was in the car that Gyan got out of, look for him to put pen to paper sometime next week!

Also, the younger brother of Wesley, Rodney Sneijder may be on his way to Manchester, he has been heard discussing possible moves to England, with City being one of them!(8)(35)

Michael Tounge to sign for Rangers tue/wed, along with Cristian Pulhac.

Khumalo and mphela are no go'ers due to mphela's calf strain.

Utaka and Jelavic are both just 'Paper Talk' as both would cost way to much, Utaka's wages alone would cripple us and Jelavic's transfer fee would be in excess of 3.5/4 million.

Bougherra WILL remain in Glasgow for one more season.

McFadden looks set for switch to Celtic, With Lennon confirming a 'Substantial' bid for McGeady has been tabled. (Would imagine Spartak Moscow).

Can't wait untill the transfer window is firmly closed and both SPL and EPL get underway.

Rangers 3 in a row. (How fitting would it be for 'The Gaffer').

Manchester City for EPL.

All the best fellow footie fans

Why would Mphelas calf strain have anything 2 do with Khumalo signing? According to reports, weve already opened up talks with Khumalos reps about a move.
James McFadden has confessed hes a Celtic fan but he wouldn't consider moving back to glasgow because of the 'goldfish bowl'.
Jelavic– the bid has been increased 2 2m plus add ons taking it to 3m. Waiting on rapid vienna making a decision.
Pulhac– Dinamo Bucharest rate him at 600K so hopefully we can make it happen. Personally I would play him as a left midfielder with big sisi papac sitting behind him as cover.
As for gredy mcgeady, he says he favours a move to the epl– Villa, Bham or another mediocre team willing to pay over the odds on a average player. Russian clubs usually have a clause in contracts that a foreigner must learn russian within 4–6 months. Mcgeady can barely speak english with that big ol' chin!

Some facts about Villa's spending.
Randy Lerner expressed that Villa will operate a sell to buy policy on top of any available funds already agreed with O'Neill. There was no comment that money was not available, just that further control measures have been added to prevent spending £4–10 million on players and not utilise or play them. Harewood, Shorey, Sidwell, Beye, Davies to name disaster signings.
Lerner has taken control of transfers in terms of agreeing fees, releasing O'Neill to do what he is paid for, manage the team he has got. O'Neill will get involved in transfers once fees and wages are agreed.
Villa and Man City have agreed £27m for James Milner despite Martin O'Neill claiming there are no developments. The issue is how this figure is paid with Man City wanting to pay £18m+ Ireland. I'm led to believe that Villa want the money to pursue their interest in McGeady. The twist in the tail here is that Villa actually want Ireland but will try a last minute purchase. Also expect Luke Young and Steve Sidwell at Fulham as early as next Wednesday for a combined fee of £5.5m. Curtis Davies will go to Liverpool, Beye back to Newcastle, Shorey to West Ham, with Reo Coker and Heskey staying and seeing out there contracts. What you think ed? {editor's note – I don't know much about the names in and out of Villa (other than McGeady), but I do know you are mostly right about Lerner being unhappy with some of MON's moves in the transfer market and taking tighter control over things.}(30)(21)

Arsenal have pulled out of deals over Tasci and Marchetti. The asking prices were said to be to high. 18million for Tasci and 12million for Marchetti.

It looks like Hatem Ben Arfa may be on his way to Hoffenheim after coach Ralf Rangnick was in Marseille to discuss the transfer. It seems now that Ben Arf's options all lie in Germany with no interest remaining from Newcastle or any of the French sides.

At no time have Everton approached Marseille over the player. It would appear that Marseille are willing to accept a bid as low as euro 5M for Ben Arfa.

Just wanna say I think this site is brilliant because you can really get an idea on the realistic rumours, whilst have a laugh at the others being mentioned!

Seriously though ED, I just wanted to know

. Any news on Ever Banega? (This boy has talent and i would love to see him replacing MonsterMash)

. Takeover latest?

. Please re–assure me ED..Tell me Luke Young was for back up and not first 11!!

. Degan, Insua, Aurelio, Riera and now looks like Mash need to be replaced. So what are we waiting for?? {editor's note – I don't believe there was ever any bid for Young from Liverpool, Hodgson was interested in him while at Fulham, but it was well known that he wanted a return to London, hence Roy's interest then. I am sure that the one team that made a bid for him will be the team he signs for. I have not heard anything on Banega, but, until Mash is sold, the money is not there to afford him anyway, hence Roy casting an eye over Poulsen.}(39)(14)

"if people check what i've stated through the past you'll see that I've been consistant.

Mr Broughton"

I totally agree with you. Your bullsh!t has been consistent from day 1 :)

G&H were never part of the sale process after RBS stepped in with Barcap. Either you have been away too long to know this fact or you are a living in your own world. All this crap about Hicks wanting the stadium construction contract is bo!!ocks.
RBS took over full control of the sale process (as an alternative to LFC going into administration) as a result of G&H defaulting on their loan agreement. Mr Broughton, you have no contacts or inside info. You are making an @ss out of yourself.

iagree too,

i was informed/lead to believe that to prevent the outcome of lfc failing to pay the current interest repayments, the bank RBS agreed to extend the loan on the grounds that h&g "signed" off any rights to participate/have any part of the sale or any guarantee of profits after its process was completedhence the statement from mr broughton himself, "this will not just go to the highest bidder. its now about the best package for lfc."
for this fact i never really bother listening to anyone on here(original post as example) who talks about the sale process and mentions those wkers in the same sentence. as its guaranteed to be only an uneducated guess!
