Liverpool are struggling to find a suitor for the left–back position.Benitez has kept close tabs on serb Aleksander Kolarov, Sampdoria's Reto Ziegler and Filipe luis, but is still pondering on a decision.
Meanwhile, liverpool could instead move for Boltons Gary Cahill rather than Rangers youngster Danny Wilson. Palermo's promising centre–half Simon Kjaer is also an option.

Liverpool are very close to signing Luiz Fernando Pereira da Silva (Fernandinho) from São Paulo FC for a fee of about £2.5 million. He plays left midfield and set up 4 goals in 45 minutes on his first appearance for São Paulo FC. He is a quick tricky winger who has scored 4 goals in only 19 appearance. My cousin, who lives in Brazil, saw Benitez and Fernandinho walking out of The Morumbi Stadium smiling. The deal will be done soon.

Can u Man City fans stop makin yourselves out to be the best club in the world. David Silva is linked with Man Utd and Real Madrid and Maicon is goin to Real Madrid so why would they go to you. Money only matters if the player wants to go but if the player dosent want to go then it dosent matter how much money you have. They want to play in the champions league and because your not in the champions league these big players arnet interested theyd rather Man Utd or Real Madrid.
also to the people who think man utd have no money to spend they are wrong. it is well publicised that they have up to £95 million to spend and AF has said he wants to sign 2–3 big players even though they are in bad debt this dosent mean they can't spend a penny as they don't have to pay it straight away they can slowly chip away at it over an amount of years so some times you have to spend money to make money. i expect them to bring in either Di Maria or David Silva and then hopefully a decent partner for rooney, this would be Benzema and as he is unsetteld at madrid this is a big possibility. also an attacking midfielder is needed and SAF is interested in Hamsik and this is also a likely one. we will sell Tosic and Carrick with foster gone these sales will bring in near £30 million. Welbeck will go out on lone to a premiership side aswell.

Norwich will sign Charlie Austin from Swindon now the Robins have not joined the Canaries in the Championship. The deal will be done over the coming weeks for around £750,000. Michael Foulger will provide part of the money for the deal.
In other news at Carrow Road, Paul Lambert is also looking to sign Danny Green from Dagenham, though Green's price has risen on the Daggers' promotion, Lambo is still keen to add the winger to his squad.
The Canaries other targets include striker, Borja Viguera, plying his trade in Spain at Real Sociedad. He's recommended by new Chief Scout, Ewan Chester.
In midfield, Solomon Taiwo will be signed from Cardiff as cover, while Billy Celeski may also be recruited from Melbourne Victory. Defensively, Tommy Spurr is likely to join from Sheffield Wednesday.

I have been told today that the deal for Joe Cole is definately back on. I was told last week that Joe and his agent rejected the 57k a week offer from Spurs, but Daniel Levy flew out to Austria yesterday and a pre contract agreement was signed YESTERDAY for 78k a week with very generous bonuses. That means Cole has rejected an 80k offer to stay at Chelsea and a suprising 63k a week offer from Birmingham.
Also today Luka Modric has signed a new 6 year contract at Spurs worth 65k a week. New deals have been offered to Michael Dawson and Aaron Lennon.

Manchester United have made a bid for a player from Standard Liege. That was the bid I was talking about last week. Standard Liége could accept this bid as early as next week. But we shall see. Their second acquisition could be Stefan Jovetic as he can play as a supporting striker, striker and Left Wing. Rodwell, De Gea and possibly another big name could be bought next season. Like my friend said 2011 could be the big season. Wenger has 40 million to spend but that includes his wage bill. With Gallas leaving and Fabregas likely to go that will be Arsenals two top earners gone and will also free some money in the wages department.
Chamakh has been signed so no other striker will come in as Arshavin will be played up front.
A goalkeeper will be signed if 1 becomes available at the right price. This is likely to be Diego Lopez for 6m off a cash strapped Villarreal.

The rumours that have been going around this summer are crazy with the likes of fernando torres and steven gerrard getting linked to any team. For a start torres has told pepe reina that hes going to stay for another season at least and his agent has said the same thing, this is because he wants to repay the fans and the club for his injuries over the past 2 seasons by winning his first trophy for the upcoming season. With benitez certain to stay in charge at anfield and the same with torres, why would gerrard want to leave when hes said time and time again that he wants the big players stay at liverpool and he loves playing along side with torres, fair enough we havent won anything in a while and rafa is an odd manager to work with but i can't see him leaving liverpool and if they were to win a trophy or two this season they will probably stay till the end of their contracts.
However mascherano due to family reasons is likely to leave to spain and he will be the only big player only leaving liverpool this summer. Riera will definatly leave probably with a deal to bring juan mata plus cash to anfield or simao of benfica to liverpool just use the useless riera as bait for any good winger will do nicely, a left back is defintaly postion that needs sorting with aurelio gone and insua so inconsistent the likes of kolorov and taiwo are on the short list for rafa. I could see rafa spending £20m or so in bringing onuha, micah richards and ireland to liverpool and with the rumour that the daily mail printed that rafa benitez has only £5m to spend is a joke, struck for cash they may be but not even the likes of bolton have £5m to spend. Firstly can we stop all the rubbish about United being skint, the figures are all out in the open in black and white.
Yes there are interest payments and debt, and yes it is not a good situation to be in. But it is the situation and nothing is going to change in the foreseeable future.
I'd also like to point out that Smalling wasn't signed to be Vidic's replacement. He has been signed as Ferdinand's long term replacement. Evans has long been viewed as Vidic's successor. Indeed the plan was for Ferdinand/ Pique & Vidic/ Evans but Pique wanted first team football quicker than he was getting it and was sold back to Barcelona for a decent profit. Just check the comments from the manager at Maidstone who discovered Smalling before he went to Fulham, they are freely available on the internet, he says he reminds him of a young Rio.
The squad is in decent shape, lots of youth coming through, expect to see more Gibson this year. Welbeck and Cleverley will be on loan although most likely lower end Prem teams, maybe one or both to Newcastle.
And so to in's.
Keeper's nothing will happen till summer window of 2011. We all know the contenders. I think Lloris is out the picture and will move somewhere after the world cup, leaving it between Neur, Akinfeev and De Gea. Expect all 3 to be heavily scouted.
No–one needed to come into the defence, Smalling was all that was needed. Rafael will kick on and hopefully learned a lot from the Bayern game and hopefully Fabio can stay injury free. (Same applies to everybody else lol)
Midfield needs work, need a creative centre mid and or a wide left.
I think Joe Cole is a definite contender on a free which would leave the budget free to bring someone else in.
I think we will get priced out of the bidding for Di Maria.
David Silva i don't want at United, i think he would flop, far too lightweight, look at the kickings Ronaldo used to get and he's about 16 centimetres taller and 16 kilo's heavier. Only reason i would sign him is if we sold him a season later to Madrid at a decent profit.
Steven Defour i think is a contender though, remember Fergie's get well soon message, only time i remember him doing that was when Ruud van Nistelrooy did his knee in training and the deal got cancelled only to go through 12 months later. Defour wouldn't cost the earth and could find it easier to adapt.
Another contender is Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina, he impressed me in the group stages of the Champions League, doesn;t seem to be getting linked with a lot of clubs and could do a very good job.
In an ideal world we'd sign both Defour and Jovetic and maybe also get Joe Cole as well, pad the squad out nicely.
I wouldn't expect another striker in, we have 6. Yes Welbeck out on loan and either Diouf or Macheda out on loan as well. But Berbatov will be saying and Owen will be as well.
I think as someone else said the big summer for United will be the 2011 window.

Newcastle United's Shola Ameobi could be Simon grayson's next big signing after appointing young Kasper Schmeichel on Friday. Shola helped Newcastle to promotion with 11 goals in 21 games.
Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll would also boost Leeds Uniteds team probably, almost securing a Premiership spot for the 2011/2012 season.

This summer will see Joe Cole join after the world cup as Capello has stated that players aren't allowed to discuss transfer during the world cup as it could distract them from it, if joe doesn't make it into the final 23 then he will move sooner. Jose Mourinho apparently has told Chelsea that he wants Lampard and is willing to do a deal which involves Kaka going the other way.

Ok, lets get one thing clear Yaya Toure is NOT going to Arsenal. Cesc is NOT going to Barcelona in any deal other that one that gives Arsenal true value, so forget 30 million it just won't happen. The truth is it is looking more likely that he will stay than go at this point in time. For someone to say Arsenal's spending is over is rubbish, with certain players yet to commit to Arsenal that can't be the case at this time. Plus Arsene has already stated in public he will add cover in defence, an area which could lose 3 players expect to see 2 players brought in. Eden Hazard remains a target, though recent talk has brought Hatem Ben Arfa in to the frame, Arsene feels he could have an impact similar to Marc Overmars but we will see. Some Leeds fans are in real danger of making themselves look silly on here. Not everything you read about your players possibly leaving is written deliberatley to wind you up you know!
It really shouldnt be that difficult to see why a player from a newly promoted Championship side, regardless of your history, would be interested in signing for the team that finished 3rd in the Championship last year. If it is then maybe some winding in of the necks needs to be done.
I'm a Forest fan, and our fans are guilty of the same arrogance on occasion, but I can tell you honestly that both clubs are in discussion over this Tyson plus cash swap deal, although neither player has been allowed to talk to the other club yet, the deal is proceeding on the grounds that BOTH players are interested in the deal, Snodgrass because he wants to be challenging for promotion this season rather than consolidating, whilst Tyson is eager to play in his natural striker position, which he doesn't for us.
Your opinions of his value may well be different from the £600k plus Tyson that someone in the media has suggested because it's my understanding nothings been decided and it could well be higher or lower, depends on how highly Grayson rates Tyson as a striker I suppose. Forest are EXTREMELY confident of securing the deal, I couldn't say how keen Leeds are to carry on negotiaitons but they show no signs of wavering yet.
This one COULD VERY WELL happen, dismiss it if you like but it is on the cards and far more likely than someof the rumours flying about.

Now that Swindon are staying in League 1, Charlie Austin is going to be hot property for Premiership and Championship clubs.
His most likeliest destination is Nottingham Forest, after Stuart Pearce recommended them highly to him. Stuart lives in Wiltshire and has kept tabs on the former Poole striker.
Charlie would move if Forest offered at least £2m. Forest would offer £1.5m upfront and pay the rest later, providing that they can offload Rob Earnshaw (Cardiff want him and Bellamy upfront next season, and would pay the price quoted by Forest).
Paynter is off to Leeds, but most of the squad will stay put. Hopefully Danny Ward will come back and Simon Ferry will consider a permanent deal, and we're also after Cillian Sheridan, Steve Smith (Poole), Bauza from Swansea and Leigh Griffiths and Mickael Antoine–Curier from Dundee.

Newcastle United's Shola Ameobi could be Simon grayson's next big signing after appointing young Kasper Schmeichel on Friday. Shola helped Newcastle to promotion with 11 goals in 21 games.
Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll would also boost Leeds Uniteds team probably, almost securing a Premiership spot for the 2011/2012 season.
Cardiff's Peter Whittingham may be Leeds United's other possible signing as Whittingham has said "im sick of always been second best" , (looks as if he wants a bigger club). Whittingham would be a great influence in Leeds United team as he and Snodgrass would rule the wings in matches.

Why have argyle and pompey not appointed yet any clues, heard that ryan harley of exeter was sailing into plymouth, along with freddy adu, also jason koumas interests both pompey and argyle, sadly looks like pompey are obviously right in it, but plymouth from what i hear are hitting the jackpot, just look up joe plumeri, chris dawson both investing heavily.pompey should have pushed on with world cup bid, lucky for plymouth they did, and are about to reap the financial rewards.
