I have been hearing from various people over the summer that Stephen Ireland wants to join Manchester United & Sir Alex Ferguson wants Stephen Ireland, I have even been told by a Man City player that Ireland has been telling friends that he is moving to Old Trafford etc..
But today is the first time I have had concrete info from a reliable source. A fee of £8 million has been agreed & Stephen Ireland will be a Man Utd player by the time United play their pre–season friendly in Ireland.

More of a question than a rumour. All this talk of Inter making offers for Mascherano and Kuyt (others have been mentioned also) are a long time coming. Could it be that they are unable to make offers under the terms of Rafa's departure from Anfield? I understand Hodgeson has a similar clause preventing him from taking any Fulham players.

its was xabi alonso that recommended pacheco go on loan to espanol to get some first team football, don't think he will go as he will get 1st team football this season when all the squad return and roy gets a good look at him , i really think pacheco could save liverpool millions in the transfer market , this kid could be a top player .

Masch will go to the highest bidder and with Barca finally ready to give up (for yet another year) on bringing Fabregas in, Masch moves up the priority list. Juventus, Real, and Milan are also interested and if Bayern were to grab Masch they might be the most complete team in Europe. AC: I don't know any details of the bidders, information like that is being kept strictly confidential. I don't even know anything about the bids submitted. All I know is the process of choosing the right bid and the progress so far.
Which leads me on to redders's query. Redders, you'll notice I pointed out that the first stage of the process was establishing interested parties and disseminating information to them. The next stage was the submission of bids. The next stage was to narrow the bids down to 2 competing bids. This stage has been completed. The criteria for this process was as I detailed in my earlier post. It was not based on who would be the highest bidder. I can only assume that this is what Martin Broughton (the Chairman) meant by his quote. The criteria for selecting the final 2 competing bids was nothing to do with share price, and they are deemed acceptable due to them fitting the criteria I pointed out earlier. However, we're mostly realists on here aren't we? The final choice will be based on who offers the most for the owners shares.(10)(3)

liverpool have made enquiries aboul de rossi but roma have put a 25 million price tag on him and it is highly unlikely that liverpool will use all of the money brought in from mascerano on a replacement. liverpool have also been in contact with juventus regarding diego and porto regarding HULK both are valued at around 20 million. which makes any deal involving either of them unlikely. hodgson is keen on both but HULK looks most likely as liverpool are looking for a top class striker.

Mate, these rumours are coming from the fact that hughes has a great relationship with bellamy (putting up dome of his own money to sign him for city) and bellamy would be willing to take a pay cut to join. Also we do have money to spend as we sold smalling for £10million and are reported to have £15mill to spend on transfers (£2.5mill compensation for hodgson). I am hoping the bellamy deal will happen and it will be for a low price (4–5 mill being the popular price atm) as city need to trim there squad to 25 for the new regulations.

I have some transfer news which doesn't concern my club but interesting to blackpool fans.
My uncle breeded his dogs a while ago and marlon harewood believe it or not actually brought one of the puppies and they have been friends since, many won't believe this but he has pictures of the two on facebook and phone etc. Anyway.
He has asked marlon if he has had any contact with his team albion to see if he is going there but marlon apparently said he hasnt spoke to albion at any point so he definately won't be going there even though i havn't heard a rumour but he is officialy a free agent now.

As regards to one offer being withdrawn I really am at a loss? A few people I've talked to have said still that they are not aware of any developments as of yet but this may be confirmed to me later over the weekend if I can get hold of someone else.
But a friend of mine has given it a bit of credit in the realms of possibilities(they are working in barcap) but it is all speculation, but here goes:
Shiek Mohammed is believed to be the front runner, not just from his past interest in obtaining LFC, but from certain little factors that seem that when the club was put up for sale officially by the Americans they set a series of little hints of who they were trying to attract to the table.
Martin Broughton has had previous dealings with shiek Mohammed in one way or another either through his business portfolio or and most likely through his association of horse racing, messers hicks and gillett knew when they appointed Broughton of his connections and this I am told was seen as a big encouragement by shiek Mohammed and his aides.
The other reason was the appointment of barcap to oversea the transition of the sale process because a certain amount of investment was bought in from the middle east, from abu dhabi and Qatar and although they are in a financial situation at the moment it was also forthcoming from Dubai although not in the great amounts that the others injected..and the person who assisted in helping set up this process was none other than amanda stavely and pcp.
Now we all know that Miss Stavely and pcp have represented shiek Mohammed interests before regarding lfc so again this was seen as encouraging shiek Mohammed
But then the situation became open because mainly Tom Hicks believed his own hype about having the Midas touch and as the man "who makes presidents" and he basically is to blame for many of the "false dawns" that have surrounded the fiasco of the sale process.
But when it became clear that there was other interested parties then he presumed he would make his estimate of a £800 million sale, which made almost all the interested parties drop their interest until a realistic price could be worked out and accepted.
Abu Dhabi came into the talks quite late on, mainly because they wanted to wait until all of the "let's buy lfc and get into the papers" types died down because if you remember there was quite a few.
Qatar were interested for a while but tbh I haven't heard anything coming from their corner ever since the guy saying they were interested stopped posting about them.
The situation concerning abu dhabi is awkward because of the rules concerning club ownership and the fact that his brother owns man city, but in all honesty this would be dealt with quite easily via the fa, uefa, and FIFA by the simple fact that money ahem talks if you know what I mean.
No the speculation goes that since the abu dhabi shiek is married to shiek Mohammed daughter you would expect him to maybe back off because of upsetting the father – in–law but whilst this may be possible I've been told that it is more likely to be shiek Mohammed who would have backed off (or as you say withdraw) because abu dhabi funds Dubai in many areas and as the ruling royal family of the UAE it would not be in the interests of Dubai to throw down the gauntlet to them.
But saying that as long as things have been discussed and approvals given then the fact that it is a bit of healthy competition then that would be encouraged, but the fact that both men could buy the club outright but haven't is again down to one man..Tom Hicks.
It was me who originally stated months ago that hicks was playing hardball over the stadium plans etc but that got ridiculed and then stopped when hicks done an interview a few days later with a paper in Texas and mentioned the "stadium plans" so again you can take all this as you want but if people check what i've stated through the past you'll see that I've been consistant.
And now the would be owners have to deal with purslow, a man with a vested interest in Liverpool and a man with a vested interest in the debt that they are carrying, so it's no wonder he failed to attract a serious bidder.plus also is the fact that he has a problem about leaking the press about certain stories especially henry winter, and the fact is that both parties will want him gone shortly after they "purchase" the club.
So to summarize. I still cannot say who has "withdrawn" from the table but again all I've been told is possible reasons as to why.
Hicks has been given the opportunity to have a few lucrative deals in the UAE as regards to building contracts..whilst gillett has gone quiet, but apparently he still has had talks with said parties from the Saudi consortium from a while back, and given the fact that he was over there quite recently is also something to maybe keep an eye on, but as of yet they have dropped off the radar so to speak.
Anyway if you could maybe ask your contact to elaborate a bit more then maybe I could ask for confirmation again but as I've said so far no one is actually talking about someone with drawing as of yet.
I'm not dismissing your claim, because it is very plausible, but all I know at the momment is that the interest from Dubai finished dd about 7–10 days ago, and the interest from abu dhabi are about 3/4 of the way through are expected to finish over the weekend, possibly by Tuesday, and then the details of the offers are going to be expected within a week or two after, and please note that from these offers it will not be whoever offers the most, but it will be accepted by broughton on behalf of the owners by who has the best sustainable business plan for Liverpool football club and the best intentions for the building of the stadium etc..which tbh is what both of them have anyway!

on to transfer rumors i have heard, apparently Liverpool are willing to sell Javier Masherano to inter in exchange for Esteban Cambiasso. Also, Craig Bellamy might be off to Fulham although this could just be a made up rumor because Mark Hughes is now their manager. Arsene Wenger says he has 'many names' who he is considering for a centre back and says he may even sign two more defenders. Also heard an interesting rumor that Chelsea want Bruno Alves. Man city are as everybody knows after Mario Balotelli and also shockingly Landon Donovan! Man United seem to be done in this transfer market unless they are keeping everything under raps, a deal for ozil looks like pure speculation however in my opinion not signing any players would be a risk as players like scholes, giggs and neville arent getting any younger!

Well if united don't sign ozil there is A LOT of ppl that will have some explaining to do. I can definitely see carrick being sold and replaced in the next 12 months. I don't think Anderson should be cast aside so hastily. I expect ozil to be the only other signing this summer as next summer will be huge with giggs and scholes needing replacing, although we do have cleverly, obertan and Gibson ready to step up. I think a lot will depend on the form of nani and berbatov, especially the latter. Possibly a berbs + cash deal for pato next summer as fergie has been a long–time admirer. Ed, do you know if luis fabiano's contract runs out next summer? Or if the ozil rumours are true? Great site.

Hi, just a quick update on the rumours of a bid being removed to takeover LFC. This stage of the process is about narrowing down the field to the 2 best bids. The criteria for narrowing the field is future plans for the club. The biggest weight of the criteria is attached to the stadium and it's proposed method of funding. Second biggest weighting is on proposed funding of first team development, third major criteria was on development of the local infrastructure and finally plans for youth team development. During the deliberations by the board and significant others, the serious bidders were given access to the books to complete due dilligence. This stage was completed this evening (30th July). This could be where the rumours of a bid being removed came from.
There are 2 bids left, the next (and final) stage of the bidding process is for bidders to propose a price for the club and the highest price WILL be accepted. The 2 parties are aware of this fact.
The whole process should be complete by the end of August, but there is apparently no deadline imposed on the bidders. ED, you have my email address, I'm happy to keep you informed of the progress of the process, but I am not privvy to all the fine details of the 2 remaining bids.
For the fans, it is certainly a time for excitement. This time it is being done properly.

I hate doing it but I have to disagree with you Ed;
I posted few days ago that Pacheco very likley to go on loan to a spanish club, (now I know its Sociedad), Roy is an admirer and he will not sell him (hope not), however he cannot guarantee him first team, he plays in a position owned by Gerrard and can be covered by Cole, Aquilani and Babel. Roy will be looking at how the later 2 do until January and if they fail to deliver he will look to sell them and then maybe recall Pacheco.
This is what I heard any ways.

All aston villa's transfers will all depend on wether james milner joins man city or not, if he does then expect villa to use the money on flamini, mcgeardy and keane, ireland could also go to villa in a swap deal, affelay could also be a potential target being linked as a replacement.
If he stays nothing will really happen transfer wise, expect robbie keane to be the only signing unless another cheap target comes up. Villa will still do pretty good due to a change in system and younger players such as delfouneso, albrighton, lichaj, bannan and a currently injured delph, all have ability to be first team players and expect some to be key this season.

Speaking to Steven Pienaar yesterday and he said both Chelsea and Liverpool have made an approach for him. I asked if he would be concerned about the hostility from the Everton fans if he moved across Stanley Park? I've placed some comments on this site already, and congratulate ED on a superb job; sites like these gets football junkies like me through the day.
I'm a dutchman living in Mexico, and a LFC fan for many years (although I don't pretend to be "in the know" as you local boys are). I'm also a lifelong Ajax fan.
Having seen him upclose, I can say that Man U has scored high marks in snatching Chicharito; When in form, he can compete with any (that includes Rooney) striker that United have. Very srong in the air (looks like he's got springs in his boots), very quick and great vision for open spaces. He'll do well, if he can adapt to life in the UK (especially the Manchester area, which can be depressing).
And he's not even the best product out of this generation of mexican talent: Party boy Gio Dossantos is that and more; I know Spurs have all but given up on him, but with some social guidance (read: strong manager that kicks his arse), he can be one of the best wingers in the EPL on any team.
Vela has struggled to make an impression, but then again, he was never as good as the other two; still, AW sees great potential in him, apparently.
LFC should try and get Gio on the cheap and give him a shot; when playing for Barcelona he made a good impact, but with fellow party animal Ronaldinho, he couldn't get his wits about him; He's a bit older now and wasting his talent away where noone sees him; Would be a great buy for any top 5 club in the EPL. As for my fellow dutchmen: no idea why they let Stekelenburg get away sofar (as he's listed for European football already); Ajax will want 50% more for him after next season, and he's a top keeper.
vd Wiel is expensive (20 mln), so unless Ajax lowers the price (to say, 15 mln), he'll probably stay put; great player though with incredible potential. VdV should be making a move, as he will waste away on the bench at Madrid; He's a very creative player with good set pieces and solid position play; Chelsea is no good for him, he should come to L'pool; too bad his position is not a priority. The alpha dog is Schneyder, of course; I can see him ending up at Man U eventually, because he would be a great fit; and I think he'll clash with Rafa, because his style is very different and he'll want Schneyder to play infrom a more defensive position. Stay tuned for that one; He would be a great long term replacement for Scholes. Questions about the Mexican market? Let me know. Can people please stop linking arsenal with expensive central defenders. Wenger spent around £10 million on Laurent Koscielny which means that he is going to be starting with Thomas Vermaelen at the back. Everyone knows how tight Wenger is so why would he invest so much in a player to sit on the bench.
Arsenal already have Johan Djourou, Havard Nordtveit and Kyle Bartley as back up defenders although at least one will go out on loan at some point (probably Kyle Bartley). If Arsenal do buy another defender it will be a cheap signing maybe along the lines of the Silvestre signing to be an experienced back up player and to help the likes of Bartley and Nordtveit make the step up to the first team.(9)(24)

Apparently, both CELTIC AND RANGERS have made initial enquiries about the availability of Yohan Benalouane but as of yet NO BID has been made by either side. could it be that the club is in fact sold – that the owners are keen on a not splashing out yet, rather building over 2 transfer seasons, investing more in the new stadium short–term and then see players' investments come later with greater income from a larger capacity stadium?

France Football claim St Etienne defender Yohan Benalouane is now wanted by both Rangers and Celtic.St Etienne defender Yohan Benalouane is said to be a target for both Rangers and Celtic. According to reports in France, Neil Lennons side have made enquiries about the prospect of signing the 23–year–old, following on from claims their Glasgow rivals had expressed an interest in the player.
Benalouane, who is available for around £2 million from the Ligue 1 club, has just 12 months left to run on his current contract. Les Verts are said to be keen to sell, already lining up moves for Hertha Berlins free agent Steve Von Bergen and Sedans Paul Baysse.

1. Ozil said that if he left bremen then the prospect of going to england or spain excites him. He also said that he would like to play for manchester united or chelsea in england. 2. He supports barcelona. But do you think there is even the slightest of chance of him breaking into that midfield? And he certainly will not move to rot on the bench. Also people cannot post rubbish like united not having money to buy him as he will come in at a low price of between 12–15mil as he i in his last year of contract and if not sold this year werder will have to part company with him for free next season! And united certainly have 15–20mil with player sales worth 16mil and also there is the 95mil cash reserve which is proved to exist!
7. Hope you've got why people think united will get ozil. Doesn't seem unlikely to me at all. The defour and ninis deals are the ones that are unlikely. Defour has not recovered from his injury and will need a consistent run of games to get form back and i don't think SAF will buy an injured player. As a Utd fan, in june i posted Utd to sign Anthony Annan after watching him at the WC. At that point it was just a wish of mine rather than anything concrete but i noticed the rumour is gaining momentum. Do you know anything about this?
We should really look at this guy seriously he will be a world class player at the right club. Only problem i can see is with Fergie's options in midfield. He has loads with Fletch, Carrick and Scholes (now he's old) who all quite like to drop into that area in front of the back 4.

Heard a whisper that rangers have got a bit more to spend than they are making out. One of the reasons that Walter decided to stay. Apparently their are those at the bank who realise that the sale of the club is the best way for them to recuperate some of their money. And have decided on a limited spend in order to improve the clubs stock and make it more attractive to potential investors. Also one of the African players agent revealed that it was David Murray who was conducting negotiations. Apparently his wider business empire has been showing signs of an upturn and he also is becoming more involved. They also know that if Celtic crash and burn they are in serious difficulty as the board have pushed the boat out for the last two managers without any cl income. The tables financially could turn very quickly especially if rangers attract a buyer.(14)(29)

Not a rumour just my thoughts..Liverpool have been bought by someone very rich its all ready been sold or in the final stages of being sold, and that's why there makin stupid bids for YOUNG he isn't even good enuf for villers first team never mind Liverpool's. The announcement will come when they have negotiated with all players on there Target list. I have just been informed that Roy Hodgson is willing to listen to offers for Liverpool trio Alberto Aquilani, Martin Skrtel and Dirk Kuyt although neither of them wishes to leave the club.
Hodgson is trying to find buyers for Phillip Degan, Damien Pleissis, Nabil El Zhar, Kristian Nemeth and Charles Itanje.He wants the 5 off his books in order for more funds and for the deals to be completed before the end of this transfer window.
And a less reliable source tells me that Hodgson will make a move for either Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone, West hams Scott Parker or Aston Villa's Stylian Petrov and potentiallly a shock move for Jermaine Jenas.
Not saying these deals are definitely going to happen, I'm just informing you what i have been told!!(25)(39)

It appears that Saint–Etienne have decided agaisnt making Pape Diakhate's loan permanent meaning that the player is back on the market. I would expect to see some interest from Arsenal amonst other English clubs. The fee for the player is reportedly low.
