Over the past couple of days I have been speaking to Ally McCoist on Twitter. I honestly don't know if true, however, last night he message that there is a Big Signing on Monday at 12pm. All he said is that he is a very talented youngster being signed from a very big club and he is English., couldnt give anymore details. I don't know how much I believe it, however if something happens on Monday then you can judge for yourself.

Another one from me: A friend of mine (I m from Norway) is pretty close to John Arne Riise`s friends. He has been told that Riise could be on his way back to Anfield and LFC. Liverpool has expressed their interest and Riise has confirmed his willingness to return to Liverpool. It is however no agreement with Roma who wants loads of cash to let him leave.(13)(36)

 24 Jul 2010 21:56:27
Dea editor, would you be so kind to tell me the latest rumours doing the rounds on arsenal. thenk you very much indeed.

Edward {editor's note – the ones with any substance are a move for Schwarzer, which is waiting on Fulham to appoint a new manager. The other one is a centre back, seems to be one who plays in Germany, though I believe it to be Tasci(sp?) or Subotic rather than Mertesacker.}(11)(10)

 24 Jul 2010 22:02:00
Heard that Liverpool (& Arsenal) are reported to be looking at Stade Rennes midfielder Yan M'Vila.

Having seen him, he likes a tackle, is a good playmaker and has a good engine. Just turned twenty he has been touted as one of the most promising midfielders in Europe and was included in the 30 man World Cup pre – squad for France.

Likened to a young Viera, Rennes are hoping to keep M'Vila for another season and have actually tied him up on a contract until 2013, as they are confident they can improve on his present price tag of of four million euros. However, with Rennes being one of France's best feeder clubs they would as always be willing to listen to offers in excess of this present tag.

Brazilian duo Gabriel Maia and Valdomiro Cantu Rodrigues have been handed an extended chance to impress at Leeds United.

The two midfielders were among a number of Brazlilian hopefuls who joined the club in training this week.

The trialists came under the watchful eye of manager Simon Grayson and his coaching staff, and the two 16–year–olds have been invited to stay on further a week.

You really should do your research Ramires plays for Benfica not Porto what the hell do you mean Porto gain for Silva?(2)(18)

Everton F.C

As i said last week Lukas Jutkiewicz will leave the club to sign for Coventry city on a 4 year deal

possible that westham could make a bid for Yakubu which would free up cash to sign Hatem BenArfa and Klass JanHuntelaar(9)(14)

 24 Jul 2010 21:47:09
Norwegian international Erik Huseklepp, currently playing for Sk Brann Bergen is on his way to Liverpool. After being fantastic as a striker last season he has been somewhat disappointing this season. Hodgson has followed the player for years and is now ready to offer the Norwegian side 1, 5 million € for the player. Brann is expected to accept this offer. Liverpool is also very interested in another Norwegian, Marcus Pedersen from the side Stromsgodset. He is also a striker.(18)(12)

 24 Jul 2010 21:07:01
Just released that gennaro gattuso has showdown talks about moving clubs . this apparently involves serious descussions with his family ( wife and son) who are both from glasgow. rumour has it he has been checking out the availability of returning to ibrox.(22)(24)

 24 Jul 2010 21:09:14
Deluded , take the blinkers off! As I aid "when are you lot going to get it?!" the penny just isn't dropping, and as for Walters, hit the star man tactic, that's fine but how will that serve over the course of the season, suspensions etc with an empty squad? Total football from Rangers! pmsl! Not! Champions league football with kids but oops better watch what I'm saying the famous "you don't win anything with kids saying" difference is the kids at Ibrox are not the kids of Fergies golden age they are boys trying to do a mans job!

See u next season blinkered boy!

Hail hail.

Ed any idea who the mystery signing is gonna be at Old Trafford? {editor's note – I don't know for sure, I thought it was Ninis but that would hardly be a mystery! By the way, you know that United team of 'kids' had a lot more players that weren't kids don't you? Schmeichel, Pallister, Bruce, Keane, Ince (I think, or was that just after he went? I can never remember, so maybe Ince), Irwin, Cantona and Cole. None of those players were kids, and they had players like McClair to come off the bench.}(4)(15)

 24 Jul 2010 21:20:07
Any rangers rumours ed.?
To all the other gers fans stop with all the gattuso BS because he is sadly not going to sign, he can still play at a much higher level and we couldnt afford him. Also celtic fans need a reality check just because lennon has money 2 spend doesn't mean he will bring in quality players so far hes signed a chinnese player which is only to boost shirt sales over there, daryl murphy because hes irish, charlie mulgrew who is a joke, joe ledley who ill admit is a good signing and juarez who i can't comment on cos i know nothing about him. Also bellamy and keane will not be signing! You can continue to right off rangers if u want but we have got just as much of a chance of winning the leauge because instead of a team of individuals we have a team.WATP {editor's note – the only players I know you are looking at are from the SPL, and there is unlikely to be any signings until the last minute to save on wages.}(13)(12)

William gallas in glasgow for talks with celtic. as said by neil lennon(12)(27)

 24 Jul 2010 20:50:14
CELTIC NEWS !

expect james to be a celtic player by wednesday, hooper by monday and mcgreedy to be away by wednesday to , for me celtic can't afford to buy bellamy unless mcgreedy signs for villa/birmingham. i feel bellamy would love to come back to celtic because the fans loved him when he was there and he enjoyed wearing the hoops . how much do u think bellamy would cost ed?

john bhoy !!1 {editor's note – to be honest, I am not convinced City will be selling him this summer, but he would probably cost at least 8m if they did.}(21)(20)

Saints look set to sign Nathan Tyson, after he admited his desire to leave forest. However because of Southamptons wealth Nottingham forest have slapped on a pretty high asking price. Pardew has to decide whether he is worth this kind of money.

Personally I would love to see him at Southampton a player with l1 experiance but will be more than capable to play in the championship"

Nathan may indeed be leaving forest for southampton, however he certainly is not keen to do so, with his family well settled in nottingham. The reason forest have put a high price on him is because they don't want to lose him, if only because their squad is so thin, and has nothing to do with soton's supposed wealth.(10)(11)

 24 Jul 2010 20:52:15
Ozil gone from 3/1 to evens to sign for man utd. check skybet. alot of money has been put on him today. they rarely get it wrong, look at the joe cole betting.(33)(23)

 24 Jul 2010 20:52:37
To the idiot who wrote this

Rangers news.

As I said two weeks ago there will be no major signings until the price of the targets has levelled out. Goodwillie remains a big target . Hutton as a loan is possible listening to London gossip. Holman is probable – wages not a problem. On finances my information is that Rangers reluctance to spend above 16k on wages is club imposed not bank imposed. Rangers have at least 10 million in the kitty on wages/fees but as usual they are being seen to be frugal to impress the bankers. As the deadline for transfers and the start of the SPL approaches ie 31st Aug and 14th Aug. signings will be made. If Bougherra goes Rangers pot increases to 15 million.A nice problem for Walter to consider.Gattuso – doubt if he will sign but if he does the thunder will transfer to the West End of Glasgow.

Rangers play in the south side of Glasgow so your talking sh~t mate and the bank decides who spends what and no way will they pay wages for Gattuso 90k a week(14)(14)

 24 Jul 2010 20:54:58
Leeds united are now going to start splashing the cash as the season is coming closerr
they will bring in these players in the next 2 weeks:
Jefferey Bruma–Season long loan
They will sign the two brazillian trialists
Nathan delfouneso–Season long loan
and will finally replace beckford with luke moore for 2 million(11)(10)

 24 Jul 2010 20:55:58
Leeds will sign nile ranger delfeounso and lita next week watch this space(10)(11)

 24 Jul 2010 20:59:42
Please please can all the silly little Aston Villa fans stop quoting stupid prices for Young and Milner, they are both second rate footballers that can't even get into possibly one of the worst England teams of all time.
Young didn't even make it into the World cup squad so how on earth can he be valued at 10m never mind upper 20m bracket and as for milner well hes had one half decent season in and now he is valued at 30m its a joke. Why would city want him anyway??

Anyway onto some realistic and down to earth rumors

Liverpool will allow Mash to leave as he obviously wants to go, 30m is about the right price for the best defensive mid player in the world (realistic price villa fans) with the money they will go straight for Aguero to partner Torres up top this should all be done in the next couple of weeks once everyone back from holidays.

Jones the truth {editor's note – Milner has been quality for years, I don't know where you got the half decent season from. He was in the same age range as Rooney, yet he made England schoolboys and youth teams ahead of him. By the way, to complain about one team's fans over rating their players and then do the same yourself makes you look a bit silly. Mash is not worth 30m, he might achieve that sale price, but he is not worth it.}(14)(12)

 24 Jul 2010 20:34:58
This afternoon i had a brief conversation with Jose Goncalves, formerly of Hearts. He has agreed terms with Rangers on a 3 year deal, but the deal will not be signed until the middle of August. Rangers do not want to pay his wages for the pre–season.(14)(33)

 24 Jul 2010 20:36:36
Stoke have rejected a bid from Man City believed to be 12 million pounds for Ryan Shawcross with Spurs also interested. Man City are expected to up the offer with Stoke saying he isn't for sale.

Steve Sidwell will reject Fulham and is expected to sign for Stoke for a reported 4 million pounds.

Stoke have told Celtic they will have to increase their offer if they want to sign Liam Lawrence. Stoke are asking 2 million.

Arsenal have had a tentative enquiry about the availability of Thomas Sorensen rejected. Wenger had enquired previously in January and will now move for Schwarzer

Dave Kitson has been offered to a number of clubs but his wage demands are too high.

Sheff Utd want to resign Michael Tonge

An un–named French based striker has met with Stoke officials and is keen to join

Carlton Cole has been given a deadline to make his mind up if he wants to leave West Ham for the Britannia

Kevin Prince Boateng is keen to move to Stoke and will have further talks on Tuesday

James Beattie has told Tony Pulis that he has no interest in joining Blackburn(11)(11)

 24 Jul 2010 20:38:49
Im a die hard rangers fan, all these rumours about gattuso are rubbish and most of the other players we have been linked with.get a grip its starting to get embarrasing now.(28)(5)

 24 Jul 2010 20:42:27
Arsenal to sign Campbell and maybe GK (Schwarzer) and that's it! No more signigns unless Cesc leaves but no Ozil, no Gourcuff. No big names since Wenger doesn't want to pay and big names don't want to come to Arsenal anymore!

Bye Bye Arsenal glory days, and hello midtable mediocracy!

–Sad Gooner(19)(16)

 24 Jul 2010 20:45:55
Flamini to sign for barcelona in a swap deal for hleb.(7)(14)

 24 Jul 2010 20:19:26
NEWS REGARDING JAMES MILNER
milners deal to man city has collapsed, the problem being that city won't meet villa's valuation. Chelsea and liverpool are fighting it out for his services, my source has indicated that liverpool can't realistically meet the valuation but have offered cash and ryan babel, villa have dismissed it out of hand, but are interested in chelsea's offer of cash and players the players in question are daniel sturridge and belletti, plus cash, villa really don't want to do business with man city due to the gareth barry affair. also tottenham are monotoring the situation, they also can't afford the fee but are willing to offer players, keane, jenas, bentley, villa want keane but not bentley or jenas, aiden mgeady will join villa soon along with scott parker, robbie keane, nathaniel clyne, and a suprise signing will be mattheiu flamini, who i have been informed has already been to bodymoor heath for talks. heskey and reo koker are both going to celtic, luke young is going to fulham along with sidwell, davies is heading for spurs, ashley young is signing a new 5 yr deal at villa park and is the player villa will build around next season.(9)(30)

 24 Jul 2010 20:26:16
It's all gone quiet on Schwarzer to Arsenal – I've heard he failed an initial medical, but passed a second one, but then heard a fee hasn't even been agreed yet. Editor – you seem to be up to speed with most things, do you know anything regarding this as both bits of info I have are from reliable Arsenal blogs who usually have good foundation to what they write.? {editor's note – all I know is that Fulham have said that no transfers will be done until the new manager is appointed. I believe that is all that is holding up the deal going through, but the new manager might want to keep him.}(6)(9)

 24 Jul 2010 20:26:24
Jus saw wes brown at ibrox with his beautiful blonde wife.maybe the owen brown n murphy rumours werent spec. ed any news on brown?? {editor's note – I haven't heard anything on Brown, he doesn't seem likely to leave United anytime soon. He seems to be happy there.}

The same wes brown that is on United American tour?(5)(23)

 24 Jul 2010 20:27:02
RANGERS RUMOUR. walter to give into eagles wage demand & give him what he wants. eagles knows rangers are panicing, expect to have an effect on future targets, dundee utd to hold out for there valuations on conway & goodwillie, even tho middlesborough will get conway for a cheaper price.

thats not thunder in the west end of glasgow that's knees trembling. HAIL HAIL LENNY, 1 IN A ROW(8)(22)

 24 Jul 2010 20:31:36
Wes brown is in usa with man utd u complete lying wally, he was speaking from their training camp 2day live on ssn, where do u ppl think up these lies?!!! as if rangers could even pay a fraction of his 65k a week wages, and altho sir alex of govan may like to help rangers out by loaning players it aint goni be players who earn that amount as man utd r up to their eyeballs in debt too, hence they wouldn't pay a majority of his wage while rangers put a tenner a week in his pocket. rangers hav turned into skint desperados. celtic hav bought ledley who was being courted by numerous teams over europe, cha du ri who was immense for s korea at world cup as was efrain juarez, and they can afford to pay big wages if needs must as they hav TWO billionaire shareholders.AND US?!! well we hav david murray skinflint who will let us buy a couple of rejects whilst all our true talent like boyd, thomson etc slowly slip out the murray park doors one by one leaving us dejected and with no hope of success. i hate sayin this but the celts r goni rip us apart and next season half our squad is out of contract and we'll be fielding our under 19s, bad times ahead(14)(12)

 24 Jul 2010 20:32:16
RINO GATTUSO IS IN GLASGOW BUT WILL NOT BE SIGNING FOR RANGERS!!! For gods sake bears fans get a grip, Chris Eagles knocked us back after a £18,000 pw offer. Do we really believe Rino will settle for that?

Stick to reality, Goodwillie, Conway, the lad from St Etienne, Holman and Tonge at a push and I mean a push!

When flamini left arsenal he stated he won't join any other english club he could of joined man united and chelsea but opted for milan. flamini also stated a couple of months ago he would love to re–join arsenal but i doubt arsene would re–sigh him after the way he rejected the new deal and left arsenal without a defensive midfielder(21)(20)

Rangers Transfers!! walter smith and martin bain have been quoted as saying they are looking to bring in at least 3 new signings to glasgow not including loan signings of obertan and gattusso with the permanent signings of david goodwillie yohan benalouane and lee wallace. came from a very reliable source who works within the camp who ive known for many years but can never be 100% sure as with any deal can fall through(33)(45)

Any truth in the rumour Chelsea are close to signing Ramires from Porto also and they negotiating with Santos for Neymar and Porto again for Silva ?(10)(30)

 24 Jul 2010 19:13:08
Ruthless Roy is getting rid of anyone who isn't fully committed to Liverpool and/or anyone with a bad attitude who is a disruptive influence. Recapturing team spirit is understandably one of his main priorities, hence the departure of Riera and the impending sale of Mascherano. (Ben Arfa will not be brought in for this exact reason – troublemaker).

Masch will not be replaced. Lucas will assume the role of breaking up opposition play; Aquilani will be given a chance at the quarterback/playmaker role. Masch sale money and other funds will be spent on one quality striker and two left backs (not one) – remember LFC have lost Dossena, Aurelio and Insua – and I'm convinced Marcell Jansen will be one of them due to his versatility.(49)(29)

"shley Young could leave as Martin O Neill is looking to bring in Aiden McGeady and he won't be Milners replacement as Milner has been playing central midfield and McGeady is an out an out winger also O Neill apparently wants Wright Phillips and Stephen Ireland as part of the Milner deal which does raise an eyebrow as to how he is going to fit them all in when their was interest in Young last summer O Neill brought in Downing as he thought he would lose Young sooner or later it might not happen but their is a real possibility with O Neill desperate to raise funds and I think Villa could actually be stronger than last season if Milner and Young leave they will have a lot of funds left over for more players after brining in Wright–Phillips, McGeady, Ireland and Keane and in my opinion Villa will be getting a great deal if this does happen."

And instead of trying to think, maybe you should learn something about Villa. Both Young and Downing have played central in the last 2 friendlies. Young looks to be the one being converted to a more Central role so when McGeady comes, all 3 can still play, interchange centrally and wing play without having to lose Young at all.(23)(14)

"Man, talk abt keeping things close to his chest. My sources have informed me that SAF is actually keen on a "world cup star" and its not Ozil. The reason for this is the mad hunt City are on, pouncing(or trying to) on every possible utd target. No idea who this guy is but looks like all these names cropping up are jst smokescreen. The only confirmed targets are Defour and Ninis (certainly nt both of them would be at OT). I'm not even sure about Ozil now, though last I heard, bids were in place for Ninis, Ozil and Lahm but like I said the wily manager might be ready to surprise us all.

Aguero WILL sing for liverpool after the deal for masch has been agreed wich i think rafa should buy him for about 35–40 mil as he valued him at 50mil. if rafa pays less than 35mil then he'll be in the bad books of the LFC fans. thanks

Rafa might of valued him at that but 20–25m is all Liverpool will get. Masch picks up yellow and red card for fun. 20m and i would pay for his flight to Italy. Whats your view on this Ed ? {editor's note – for £20m I would help him pack!}(42)(27)

Celtic have interest in mcgeady but problem is only the Russians will meet their valuation and the players not interested in playing their. Lennon needs to offload mcgeady to fund his transfers, he needs at least one marquee signing .what he's got at the moment will not be good enough to topple rangers who despite all the negative press will strengthen. Remember from last season he has lost keane camara and brafielt. Add mcgeady into that and it's a significant loss.(23)(27)

I REALLY AM NOT LYING HONDA IS GOING TO AC MILAN! AND WITH CHELSEA, CITY, MAN UTD, REAL, BARCA, BAYERN AND INTER ALL INTERESTED IN OZIL'S SIGNATURE I WOULD SAY YOU HAVE A SLIM TO NONE CHANCE OF SIGNING HIM, ESPECIALLY AS HE NAMED CHELSEA AND MAN UTD AS THE TEAMS HE WOULD JOIN FROM ENGLAND.

Loving the Celtic fan that wrote about the "bellamy" show n the dark days at ibrox, yes we have little money and the squad is bare, but we have done well in this type of scenario the last 2/3 years and that's with duds like Christian daily in the team. We most probably won't target some of the players mentioned by wishful fans, but ppl will come in. As for bellamy, Walter always tells ppl to hit the main 'star' in the Celtic team, Hutton and broadfoot with mcgeady Thomson with brown and keane and the same with mcculloch this makes them struggle to perform, so don't expect big performances by bellamy against rangers.

Just a word on Liverpool and the Mascherano saga:

Liverpool need to cut the cancerous players away from the club; those with bad attitudes and those looking to just cruise by and pick up a cheque. With a most probable move of Mascherano to Inter for 22–25mil, people are commenting on replacements for him. Why does a replacement need to be brought in? With the signing of Cole, there's an attacking central midfielder, where would Gerrard be expected to play? I wouldn't be surprised to find Gerrard sitting back in the role of CDM to cover Mascherano.

The funds from the sale of Mascherano will be spent on a quality LB (Bridge most heavily linked along..sadly) and a quality 2nd striker with maybe a few more youth brought in. It's possible to bring in some decent wingers with a few expected to leave the club, Wright–Phillips being one of the most experienced and worthwhile to sign.

The likelyhood of Honda's move to AC Milan may see the departure of Ronaldinho. My thoughts on Liverpool, not based on any inside info just based on what Ive read and logic.

It seems nearly certain that Mascherano will go to Inter, just a matter of settling on a price. Ive read alot of people saying they won't replace him because they have alot of central mids. None of those guys are DM though, other than Lucas. They'd need to sign someone who can play that role as you don't want Gerrard having to play it as its a waste of his talents. Hopefully it ends up being someone like Defour.

Obviously they need a LB and there have been many names mentioned. No need to get into exactly who will fill the void. It has to be filled, so it will be.

I do think they will bring in Huntelaar to team with Torres and also to cover for Torres when he is hurt. Hopefully Babel will go in the deal as I hate Babel.

Lastly Im hoping that they can bring in Turan as I feel he is the kind of player who when surrounded by other top players like Gerrard and Torres could really flouish and become a star in the Prem quickly.

The squad could look like this:

GK–Reina
LB–new signing
RB–Johnson
CB–Carragher
CB–Agger
CM–Defour
CM–Gerrard
LM–Cole
RM–Turan
ST–Huntelaar
ST–Torres

They'd have good cover at midfield and attack too with Lucas, Aquilani, Maxi, Kuyt and Jovanovic all quality on the bench. Also since they have some versatile players they could switch up the formation. Play a lone striker with Cole just behind him and Maxi and Turan on the wings. They could play a 4–3–3 with Defour at DM, Gerrard and Cole at AM, Turan and Maxi on the wings and Torres up front.

I don't think anything Ive said has been totally unrealistic. Most reports do seem to think that Roy was given a budget up front of about 15 mil. Not much of that should have been eaten into yet considering the departures of Benayoun, Riera and Insua should essentially have covered the arrivals of Cole and Wilson. So basically if you still have a roughly 15 mil budget, then get 20–25 for Mascherano you could have the funds availible for Defour, Huntelaar, Turan and LB especially considering that it seems likely Babel would go in part for Huntelaar.(34)(36)

"Liverpool and Tottenham are set to battle it out for £18million rated Aston Villa winger Ashley Young."

Can battle all you want, he's not for sale and especially not for as little as 18m. Bump it up another 10m and maybe. But Redknapp's having a hard time finding the cash to get Bellamy and Hodgson knows he has to sell to spend big. 18m is out of the leagues of both managers. Sorry, but he's not leaving.(34)(47)

Kees ploegsma has now confirmed that the deal with ac milan for Keisuke Honda failed to take form from day 1 and a bid was never made–I've been keeping an eye on this situation as a fan of Honda and have heard a lot of rumours linking both Liverpool and Arsenal but im 99.9% sure its just speculation still never say never

also the person that says he is moving to Liverpool for 8 millions that is just ridiculous seeing as he went to CSKA for about £5m and that was from VVV Venlo hence it was a much riskier deal(17)(22)

Celtic news.
some signings already but really no stars. Bellamy is the only hope of a great start to the season but I am told he is still likely to go to Spurs. Keane no hope. If Mc Geady goes bellamy is in the frame but Mc Geady is overpriced in the market so he may not sell.Celtic can not afford Bellamy without the Mc Geady sale.Hooper is good but not that good – should do better than Bullard though.

Hearts . Hartley will sign Rangers are not interested.

Hibs – the Bamba situation will be resolved by transfer nothing else. Rangers are his interested destination but he may be well down the pecking order after a couple of French defenders.

Partick – great each way bets for Div 1 – get your money on and watch for some old boys coming home soon.. Yorkie Lad(30)(24)

I have been reading some of the high quality tripe on this site for a while now with regards to Rangers FC. Unfortunately the only man with any rumours of substance was a Celtic fan! People need to take their heads out of the sand and show some trust in Walter. I have no doubt that Walter will be awaiting the outcome of Celtics CL qualifier next week. Should the result go in the favour of the bears, expect more than the three stated signings. I am led to believe there will be three permenant signings and also two coming in on loan:

Permenant three from:

Goodwillie & Conway – Dundee United
Benalouane – St. Etienne
Goncalves – Free Agent
Eagles – Burnley
Brunt – WBA

Loan Signings two from:

Obertan, Wellbeck – Man Utd
Gattuso – AC Milan
Tonge – Stoke
Holman & Poulson – AZ

The Gattuso rumour won't go away, he is in fact in Glasgow but purely on a family holiday. The only reason I know this is my sister works in the family restaurant, he is not here to sign!

The Eagles deal isn't dead, Walter is a fan, a big one in fact, watch out for a move towards the end of the transfer window.(30)(32)

MUFC news :

Great to see Vidic shun the overtures from Madrid & pen a new deal, all UTD fans can now rest easy!

Hargreaves days look numbered, unfortunately I can't see anything other than the poor lad having to retire, shame really as he looked quality when he played.

Cleverly & Welbeck to Newcastle on loan is my guess, possibility of Sunderland but I'm sure Sir Alex will look for 1st team action for both. Cleverly looks good, still unsure about Welbeck though.

Transfer rumours :

Ninis – was all but confirmed, but seems to have come to a halt for some reason – any ideas?

Defour – still injured, Ferg does rate him but I feel it may have to wait a season.

Ozil – would love to see him join, missing link in my opinion & I feel we're the ideal club for him, but it's very quiet on the rumour front.

Expect no more additions other than an AMC, Rodwell is a distant possibility fully dependant on Hargreaves!

The Glazer family, who own Manchester United, have been urged to surrender control at Old Trafford after it emerged season tickets were selling badly for the first time in recent history.

RedDevil_7 – I WOULD TAKE THIS STORY WITH A PINCH OF SALT, ITS THE PAPERS TRYING TO MAKE A STORY OUT OF NOTHING! UNITED HAVE SOLD OVER 50,000 SEASON TICKETS SO FAR WHEREAS THIS TIME LAST YEAR THEY SOLD CLOSER TO 54,000, UNITED WILL SELL OUT AND THERE WILL STILL BE SOME GLUM PEOPLE WHO HAVE MISSED OUT, ITS THE PAPERS TRYING TO STIR UP THE 'GLAZERS OUT' CAMPAIGN AGAIN, AFTER THERE IS NOTHING TO PRINT ABOUT ROONEY & VIDIC LEAVING, THEY ARE RUNNING OUT OF THINGS TO PRINT ABOUT UNITED!

I have a mate who is a ex man u season ticket holder ( not been for 3 seasons ) he was contacted by united offering him a season ticket anywhere in the ground even though he hasnt applied for one ( isn't there supposed to be a long waiting list anyway ? ), people he knows on man u forums have had the same happen to them, so if the papers were trying to stir things up about poor ticket sales why are man u trying to sell their season tickets to ex holders, to me the paper thing has some truth to it and the green & gold campaign is starting to have an affect, by the way im a liverpoo fanl so have no interest in manc tickets just wanted people to know what i have heard

GUTTOSO BULLst HERE PROOF

here a statement from gattuso agent on sky sports italia.
Future Remains Undecided – Agent
Agent claims future will become clear when Gattuso speaks with Milan..

By Salvatore Landolina
Jul 24, 2010 12:07:00 PM

Gennaro Ivan Gattuso
Gennaro Gattuso's future is up in the air and his agent Claudio Pasqualin has said it is down to AC Milan to bring it back down to earth when they meet to discuss a way forward.

Al–Ahli and Olympiacos have both been linked with the midfielder, but the Greek side are just ahead in the race to land him.

Pasqualin has said Gattuso's exit is not guaranteed, but things will become clearer once he speaks with the hands that feed him.

"Next week there will be a meeting between [Adriano] Galliani and Gattuso to decide his future, " Pasqualin told Sky Sport Italia.

"So far there have not been any meetings, but it's clear there is a rapport based on loyalty between Milan and Rino.

"If there are conditions to continue then we will go forward, otherwise we will evaluate other offers. Olympiacos have shown an interest, but until we speak with Milan then we cannot open negotiations."

so there is the statement, he not in talks with rangers or the chairman has not been in scotland at end of the day he is under contract at ac milan and as his agent says (we cannot open negotiations until speak to milan). so stop talking st mate and the rest of use rangers fans, and where in that statement did rangers get mentioned they didn't because no contact just rangers wishing he coming can't afford his wages, he on about 90k a week, that's what rangers squad get in a week

so hope that clears that up s about guttoso.

Ally McCoist denies Brett Holman link as Bain outlines need for three new players

Published Date: 23 July 2010
By ALASDAIR LAWRIE
RANGERS assistant manager Ally McCoist has admitted he is excited by Brett Holman – but despite speculation Down Under, he insists the Ibrox club are not close to signing the Australia striker.
Rangers have arrived in the country ahead of the Sydney Festival of Football to find the local media have once again linked the 26–year–old with a move to Ibrox. Holman impressed during the recent World Cup in South Africa, scoring twice for the Socceroos against Ghana and Serbia.

The AZ Alkmaar forward is adamant he knows nothing of an imminent move to Glasgow, comments which were echoed by the Ibrox assistant manager.

"Holman is certainly a player that I like and I know that Walter (Smith] likes him as well, " McCoist told Rangers' official website. "I won't lie, he's someone who excites me. I saw him a couple of times at the World Cup and he impressed me.

"He came on and took his goals well but there has been no contact made at all between ourselves and his club with a view to him getting him involved with us."

Dundee Utd slap £3m price tag on Rangers target Goodwillie
Rangers manager Walter Smith will have to stump up for David Goodwillie after Tannadice club value the winger at £3m

Comment

Upping the ante: £3m rated United ace Goodwillie will not be go allowed to go the cheap

If Rangers are keen on landing Dundee United starlet David Goodwillie then they are going to have to dig deep.

The Ibrox club have been linked with a proposed £750,000 bid for the 21 –year old wing ace.

But Dundee United will be looking for four times that amount to let Goodwillie go having slapped a £3m price tag on the SPL Young pkayer of the year's head.

Dundee United manager Peter Houston had pleaded with chairman Stephen Thompson not to sanction the break up of his Scottish Cup winning squad.

And he may get his wish as Thompson plays hardball with potential suitors of the Tannadice club's players and sticks to his guns not to let them go on the cheap.

Walter Smith is reported to be set to table a £750,000 bid for the player if the proposed takeover of Rangers by businessman Andrew Ellis goes through.

But it now appears he will have to significantly increase that fee if he's to get his man.

A bullish Thompson, who took over the running of the club from his late father Eddie Thompson : "Nobody here is up for sale but there is a different between looking to sell and considering a credible bid.

"A reasonable offer for David Goodwillie would be in the region of £3m.

" I would not be interested in that (the £750,000 figure) and anyone coming in at that figure would just be wasting their time."

Goodwillie has been in sparkling form for United this season and scored a stunning goal in the club's recent Scottish Cup triumph against Ross County last month.

SO THERE YOU GO S, STOP WITH BULLst AND GET HEADS OUT OF SAND, YOU AINT A GREAT TEAM, YOU AINT GOT QUALITY AND STOP TALKIN BOUT LAST SEASON, SAYING WE WON IT WITH NOT BUYING ANYONE, SO WE WILL DO IT AGAIN DIFFERENCE THIS YEAR IS YOU HAVE GOT RID OF 40 ODD GOALS WITH BOYD AND NOVO, THOMPSON OFF, AND BEASLEY AND POSSIBLY 2 OR 3 OTHERS OFF, SO STOP DELUDING YOURSELFS AND LOOK AT BIG PICTURE BECAUSE USE CANT GET ANYONE TO JOIN USE AND IF USE DO IT BE POOR QUALITY, AND YEAH WE KNOW FED UP LAST YEAR TO MANY PLAYERS OUT AND IN DURING TRANSFER WINDOW IN JANUARY, MOWBRAY'S F UP, BUT WE ARE TRYING TO IMPROVE OUR TEAM BY BRINGING IN HIGHER STANDARD OF PLAYERS SO BRING THE SEASON CANT WAIT TO SEE USE STRUGGLE AGAINST HEARTS, HIBS, ABERDEEN AND DUNDEE UTD WHO HAVE ALL IMPROVED THERE SQUADS THIS SEASON(16)(30)

Liverpool FC will be spending very carefully as budget is limited. Riera left for £3.3 million, Insua left for around £4 million and Benayoun for £5 million. The only other big transfer will be that of Mascherano near 20 million.
Players like Spearing, Eccleston, El Zhar etc may be sold for low costs or out on season–long loans.
Liverpool will not bring in a replacement for Masch as there are enough central midfielders to play that role. The left back slot is likely to go to Marcell Jansen. Also, Huntelaar is a very likely option as a striker and this may mean that Babel goes to Milan. Lastly, the left over money will be used to buy a winger (like Turan) or an attacking midfielder (like Van der Vaart).

The Squad could look like this:
GK: Reina, Cavalieri
LB: Jansen, Darby
CB: Carragher, Wilson, Kyrgiakos
CB: Agger, Skrtel
RB: Johnson, Kelly
LM: Rodriguez, Jovanovic
CM: Gerrard, Aquilani, Lucas
AM: J. Cole, Van der Vaart, Shelvey
RM: Kuyt, Turan
ST: Torres, N'Gog
ST: Huntelaar, Pacheco.

My sources told me that Liverpool going to sign Jansen, Turan, Bridge and if possible Klose.ED this will really make things intresting as Liverpool should be a complete team with these players arriving!?ofcourse certain to go are Masch, The Greek, Lucas. What u think?? {editor's note – as far as I know there will only be one LB signing, so very little chance of Jansen and Bridge. Not sure what is happening on Turan, Hodgson is sifting through a lot of footage of players, Turan is one of them, but whether he likes what he sees I don't know. Klose I don't believe for one second, he has been poor in the Bundesliga for a while now.}(22)(28)

Just looked at all the scottish newspapers and could not see any reports on hooper signing for celtic?. All they say is that Lennon will add to his squad but only when he returns from USA next Friday. Hooper playing for Scthorpe today against Sheff Wed'y if he had been sold surely this would not happen?. Which newspaper did you see this in so we can all see what you are on about?>.

you must be going back in time and reading scottish papers from last week mate, because celtic don't return home from usa next friday, they returned home yesterday muppet>>>>> and the paper need to look at is the scottish sun dated saturday 24th of july just in case not sure what date it is, also its on stv news website that signed last evening for 2.4 million, and scthorpe next match is been played on tuesday against york and he is undergoing a medical on monday at lennoxtown. what planet you on or what day you on because you obviously behind the rest of us on this planet(22)(17)

And why is that? Werder has a better chance of winning the Bundesliga than Arsenal of the EPL. Werder has a better chance of winning in Europe than Arsenal. Werder has already said he'd like to stay at Werder. It's a dream that Arsenal fans have that players would jump at the chance at joining Arsenal, but that dreams over. Fabregas wants to leave, Arshavin would rather play at Barcelona.. Sooner or later, Arsenal fans will realize Vermaelen can't defend worth a crap..(18)(30)

According to my sources very close to Walsall FC (I am nothing to do with the club)

Walsall are indeed looking to sell Troy Deeney before the start of the season. Once he plays another 3 competitive games his wages will rise by 50%. I know what he is on, but I am not prepared to discuss this.
But 50% is more than Walsall are willing to pay and have tried to negotiate so that it won't kick in. But Troy Deeney is having none of it. Walsall have offered him to several clubs including Birmingham City, Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Coventry.

It is believed Coventry are interested and todays friendly between the 2 clubs could seal the deal.

As for a replacement, Walsall are NOT going to buy. They will look to Alex Nicholls, Darren Byfield and youngster Will Grigg to step into Deeneys shoes as the goalscorer.

Thankyou.(15)(8)

To all the deluded Rangers fans out there who keep spouting there rubbish on this fantastic site, when are you lot going to get it?! All these rumours about Celtic may or may not be true but we are trying hard to bring the glory days back and I take my hat off to the board for there continued investment again in the very next transfer window after the Mowbray shambles. In todays climate how many clubs who target the type of player we are targeting would back there managers with the investment they have? Not many! We have been guilty in the past of under investment and I remember the hard times that Rangers are experiencing when we were laughed at by those over at Mordor! The roof is caving in at Ibrox and i've absoloutley no sympathy for those deluded Rangers supporters, next season is gonna be a sore one but it's been in the post for years.

I posted on here a few days ago about how hard we are working to bring a glamour name to Parkhead, as for the number 7 shirt it aint getting filled by Hooper! He signs Monday and when the mageady money is in the door expect Bellamy to sign, this info is from the horses mouth at the highest level within Parkhead so on that note Rangers fans enjoy next season it's gonna be horrible but trust me the Craig Bellamy show will return to Parkhead next year! As i said the other day Tevez apart this lad was city's best last year when fit, a fantastic talent with a heart of a lion! This guy is more than capable of gracing the number 7 shirt!

Keep up the good work ed this site is the best on net! Love it, any news on Ozil to united? {editor's note – nothing mate, sorry.}(34)(26)

Right had enough of this fire sale crap at rangers, rangers have offered all of these players on the last year of there contracts better money and extensions to there deals but when the english clubs come in with money all spl clubs are done for we can't compete simple as, the only players not offered extensions were smith and beasly, if a player wants to go they will go so makes sense to sell them before they leave for nothing this is called business, simple business, this happens through out europe with clubs, the septic at castle grey skull needed to buy players mowbary saw to that, top manager, rangers still have the foundations of a good title winning squad but don't agree with bain you can't lose 6 players potentially 8 (bougherra.no loss played half the season without him, miller.might be a loss not alover of the judas) and only bring in 3 players, rangers only offered 1m for reynolds and mcghee knocked it back because hes one of the dark side, rangers and psv in for reynolds, rangers will sign 3 players hopefully walk into the squad bain has said this, no deals have been done with anyone, smith will keep cards close to his chest and will wait to see what happens with the manky mob in the qualifiers of champs league to see if he gets more money, this is not a rumour so don't rate it , its just a point(15)(17)

Ha, ha, ha. The bloke saying Arsenal have signed Lukaku. Deary me. Do you know anything about Lukaku? He is a massive Chelsea fan and said that he will only leave Anderlecht for there. Even his dad has confirmed that, and he also said his son will stay in Anderlecht for 1 more season to finish his schooling, until he is 18. Lukaku has been to Stamford Bridge lots of times, including a couple of months ago.

Nice try in trying to hoodwink people though.

the fact that hes a 'massive' chelsea fan means nothing, hes actually not a 'massive' chelsea fan, hes a 'massive' DROGBA fan who consequently plays for chelsea and even so this still doesn't mean he will end up at chelsea. ramsey was a 'massive' man utd fan, look where he ended up..(11)(14)

Bristol city news: planning application will be fast track through government, lord sansbury and family will call for the government too pass application for new sansbury at ashton gate! lord sansbury paid for conservative election campaign and has a big influence on what goes on in government due too the families financial input to the government, any more bristol city news please!

I don't think it will happen quite like that ! But it will go through eventually – 100% confident of that. Todays news is that Bradley Orr is going to QPR (from Orr himself), Rosenior couldn't fit his head into the team bus so he's off somewhere else, Hartley will be a Hearts player on Monday, Jon Stead should be a City player next week as well as another "substantial signing"

FROM THE OUT SIDE IT WILL NOT SEEM LIKE THIS, SANSBURY WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE MOTION, BUT GOVERNMENT WILL GIVE REINSURANCE THIS WILL BE PASSED AT APPEAL, (9)(13)

Just heard that Manchester City are listenin' to offers for some of there players.

S.W.Phillips ( 6 – 8 million ) to possibly Liverpool, Totenham, or Aston Villa.
Nedum Onuoha ( 3 – 5 million ) to possibly Stoke, West Ham.
Michael Johnson ( 4 – 6 million ) to possibly I don't really no.
Stephen Ireland ( 8 – 10 million ) to possibly Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Totenham
Roque Santa Cruz ( 6 – 8 million ) to possibly Wolfsburg, Bayer Leverkusen
Jô ( 3 – 5 million ) to possibly Galatasary, somewhere abroad proberly.
Kelvin Etuhu ( 2 – 4 million ) to possibly stoke, West Ham, Fulham
Vincent Kompany ( 3 – 5 million ) to possibly West Ham, Newcastle
Craig Bellamy ( 7 – 10 million ) to possibly Totenham, Celtic
Micah Richards ( 7 – 9 million ) to possibly Totenham, Liverpool, Arsenal

They need to trim down there squad, becuase of the FA saying you can only have 25 players in your squad.
Am not sayin' all of these will go but i am led to beleive most will, am unsure on some myself becuase they still need to have 8 home grown player.
But my source has said the majority of these NOW, 'fringe players' will be goin' for the exit.(52)(60)

 24 Jul 2010 14:43:55
Liverpool will try to sign Gallas on a free transfer due to his ability to play anywhere across the back four and his vast premiership experience. Three left backs Hodgson are interested in are: Wayne Bridge, Reto Ziegler and Royston Drenthe. He doesn't want to pay over £5 million for any of them. (I think he should use Dan Agger as left back, the lad is class at defending and getting forward! Anyone else agree?)

When Mascherano eventually leaves he will not be replaced as Liverpool have enough central midfielders to cover this loss. A big chunk of the "masch" money will be spent on a top striker (Huntelaar recently linked) and a quality winger (Turan maybe.)(51)(29)

 24 Jul 2010 14:25:51
As i said last wk once vidic agreed to stay rio will be on way out as saf like's vidic&evans combo and with spur's willing to pay £12m for him money will be used along with hargrevs insurance money to get rodwell but he will be staying with eveton till jan .deals done already for ozil and only other transfer will be if get good swap deal for berba (i hope he stays) also watch out for city to make huge bid for terry once bridge goes and his wife is happy bout getting him out of london(23)(29)

To the person who wrote this:

Triple Dutch swoop for Newcastle
Van Arnholt (1m)
De Guzman(free)
Huntelaar (10m)
Huntelaar is the big if, but still sees newcastle as a big club and is going knowing he'll be first choice.
Ashley has sanctioned one 10m signing a season paid for by his own pocket (ala Colocinni)

Van Arnholt is a big possibility as he spent som time at SJP also it will take him a while to be chelsea's first choice left back however he is highly rated at chelsea.

De Guzman look the biggest possibility of being the next signing on a free.

But there is no truth is huntelaar at all. He has the choice of clubs that are playing champions league and europa league football next season.

Denilson of arsenal will be joining one of the rome clubs, we shall know by next week which one it will be

If Denilson moves to Roma could it be as part of a deal that sees De Rossi move to the Emirates? This is a rumour that was mentioned last season and I have heard whispers of the same rumour again this summer but as always nothing concrete with Arsenal and Mr Wenger.

As an Arsenal fan I would love it to happen, all the teams doing well recently seem to play with 2 holding CM's and one more advanced. De Rossi, Song and Cesc would make a great trio and would make us a lot more solid which is clearly what we need. However, I am realistic and am pretty sure the above will not happen.

Please Mr Wenger do all us hopeful Arsenal fans a favour and get into the market and buy some experienced quality players, they are out there and I reckon u have got the money to spend

Hopeful Gooner!(24)(31)

What the hell is happening to cardiff anyone no? do the new owners have money and are just trying to get the best deals or we in real st?

In a nutshell..Cardiff still owe the HMRC two months of last quarters tax and the next quarter is imminent. So they have another winding up order to face if they can't pay up. They also owe Sunderland, Charlton and Motherwell monies for previous transfers – Sunderland aren't that bothered and have settled for installments, but the others want their dosh now, pronto. Langstons expect Cardiff to pay them 10m in december or the loan reverts back to the original 16m. On top of this, the club have a transfer embargo on them until they settle with the other clubs re transfers, and they have to pay their day to day bills and wages (which will be late again). You tell me if they are in the st.(25)(15)

Hatem Ben Arfa will sign to either Arsenal or Liverpool on a season long loan, with the option to buy. He has been offered by Marseille to Newcastle too, but he is likely to want European football. Also Jan Klass Huntelaar is Roy the boys next signing, after being told he is surplus to requirements. J496

the only club that is interested in ben arfa is everton and he would never join newcastle and huntelaar is going nowhere get your facts right

Your sure about this? I wouldn't put it past Arsenal to be in for him as they had a concrete deal for him accepted but the player rejected it and opted for Marseille. His reason he stated was that he didn't want to leave France just yet and wanted to wait until he felt he was ready to leave his country, so if he does join anyone it will be Arsenal, as they can actually afford him.

To the first comment – I never said ben arfa himself was intersted in those clubs, i said he has been offered to them. i don't know why, but he has. none of the clubs have made a bid yet though. so get YOUR facts right son. And i suppose everyone else is wrong about Huntelaar?? sshhh.

second comment – yeah mate it was actually on sky sports news a couple of days ago. no concrete bids but he's just been offered out. if anyone knows why then please post. he must me unsettled at Marseille or summat. it would make sense as you said about the Arsenal situation, but who knows.(18)(23)

Will spurs now get their man OR will citeh throw money at the player to sign and then let him warm the bench more often than not?? the player in question is yannick djalo who was outstanding against city scoring both goals in the 2–0 win, spurs were, sorry, are having ongoing meetings with sporting regarding the possible sale to the player and also letting pavlyuchenko go to sporting on loan?(11)(14)

 24 Jul 2010 13:43:57
The only realistic signing possible for Manchester United is that of Mesut Ozil. United have one more place in their squad and as the player has entered the final year of his contract Man Utd representatives feel they can get him for a realistic fee (quote SirAlex "value for money") They are also being patient with Jack Rodwell and feel they can prize him away next season(22)(25)

sorry but i can guarentee you that rangers had a bid of 1 – 1.5m accepted 2 seasons ago, but mark himself told motherwell he wasn't interested in talking to rangers, i happen to know mark and most of his family, and i can tell you that if he ever signed for rangers he would be disowned by the majority of them as they are celtic supporters, so don't expect to see mark reynolds signing for rangers

Man Utd have enquired about Aiden McGeady and talks were held after the teams met las week. Don't know if a deal was struck yet, don't know why they want him, he's good, but not that good. Celtic to sign Hooper and kayal this week and also to hold more talks with James. Ibrahima Camara may still sign as Mulgrew may be used more in Left midfield when McGeady leaves. A Central Defender will still be signed befor the end of August.

Celtic will let Cervi leave on loan for a season when they sign a new "Keeper". Loovens will go to whoever wants him, Caddis and Simon Ferry to swindon but Celtic want them only to go on loan and see them as future starters for Celtic. Sherridan deal been accepted but will decline the move to CSKA Sofia and again go out on loan. Hinkel back to Germany too. Celtic hope to get majority of deals done early to get settled side for start of the season(17)(38)

 24 Jul 2010 13:26:01
However, it doesn't look good for Mascherano as his attitude this summer may well get him his "dream" move to the bosom of Rafa. Expect Rafa to bid for Mascherano (£30m) after the sale of Balotelli has been finalised. Purslow will no doubt have list of names lined up as Mascherano replacements including Banega (£12m), Parker (£9m), Cambiasso (£15m), Inler (£10m), Poulsen (£12m), Cattermole (£15m) and maybe even Ghana's Annan (£8m).

{Sorry kidda but Rafa bid just 18m for Mascherano a few weeks ago and e was told "no players will be sold until a manager is in place", there is no way he will go for 30m, between 20–25m is what every paper is printing and as he is desperate to leave i can see him leaving for around 20m}

What do you think ed? {editor's note – personally I would have taken 18m to get his bad attitude away from the club, but I expect it to cost Inter or whoever gets him well over 20m.}(26)(19)

Plymouth argyle latest rumours

In response to the rumours below, think its wishful thinking. The local paper today has a article from Peter Reid saying argyle are looking at signing three trailists (HALL GK, Petterlin MD, and Capaldi LB) but all are dependant on finances. Cant see Argyle affording Carlo Nash, would command to high a salary, Neil Trotman has D1 experience and would make sense, but we have Reda, Seip, Timar, arnesan and N'gala already at CB!

As for Judge would love to see him back, fingers crossed and Luton Shelton well who knows.

think this is all wishful thinking till Reid finds new homes for some of his over sized squad.

plymouth are looking at luton shelton who is only a day away from signing.
also neil trotman to sign after he was released from pne.
carlo nash to sign on free everton let him go (this is the prem goalie)
petterlin has signed and so has capaldi.
finally wouldn't be suprised if we have a look at judgey who still has no club.(12)(11)

 24 Jul 2010 13:16:41
Also, do Chelsea have an agreement in place for Lukaku? I know he is a big Chelsea fan and loves Drogba but I have also heard that Kenny Daglish is absolutely obsessed with the lad and would love to have him at Liverpool.

As you know Lukaku is a huge Chelsea fan and has been seen on stadium tours etc; there are also constant rumours that he and Drogba are often phoning each other. There is no agreement in place at the moment though; well not one that has been made public. I think if Liverpool made an offer for the lad it would have to be one where he was loaned back for a season; otherwise neither his family or club would accept the deal. If such a deal was made by Liverpool and accepted i'd expect Chelsea equal or better it.(16)(15)

"Darren bent to join liverpool for 18 million and chelsea to sign luis suarez for 20 million these deals be done in next 2 weeks"

1. Are you saying Suarez is only worth 2 million more than Darren Bent yet is miles better

2. If liverpool had 18 million to spend they would be using it on Remy not wasting it on Bent

3. Liverpool just don't have those funds yet

Ed surley you see what im saying makes sense ? {editor's note – if Roy was interested in Remy Liverpool would have made a bid for him. You have to remember Suarez plays for Ajax in the Dutch league, players from there fetch less than players from the bigger leagues.}(23)(86)

Forest have dropped their interest in Kenny Miller of Rangers as they can't raise the funding. However Millers agent is at the moment talking to Bolton and Blackpool with a view to him moving on. As I said the other day, Aguero is closely monitored by every big club in Europe. As a result he is regularly 'linked' in the press to one or other of them. In Germany he is currently linked with Bayern, in Spain with Barcelone, in UK with Chelsea, United, City and ourselves.

In all probability he is going nowhere as he is still very erratic and for every good game he also produces a stinker and no club would risk the amount of money at which he is valued on an erratic player.

Does anyone have any idea if anyone is sniffing around Udineses' Alexis Sanchez? The lad was, along with Oezil, a standout performer at the WC and he seems to built for the Premier League – he built like a brick s house. I know he mentioned he was ManUtd fan but I don't believe they have been looking at him with Valencia, Nani and Giggs already on their books.

Also, do Chelsea have an agreement in place for Lukaku? I know he is a big Chelsea fan and loves Drogba but I have also heard that Kenny Daglish is absolutely obsessed with the lad and would love to have him at Liverpool.

Onto rumours at LFC. Until Torres and Mascheranos futures are cleared up Liverpool will not make any more moves in the transfer market as they don't actually know the size of the kitty. It is possible that both will stay meaning that Liverpool will just have to find a senior striker and first choice left–back with the reported £15m + sales.

The Mascherano sale + sales of Plessis, El Zahr, Degen (free), Insua, Aurelio (free), Nemeth, San Jose, Riera, Itandje (free) will boost the coffers considerably and possibly fund a £20m+ striker signing. This is where the legs for the Aguero rumour have come from. Again, probably wishful thinking but if there was ever a summer to finally get the lad, it would be now and Im sure that canny Purslow knows this. He is plainly ready to leave Atletico and teaming up with his mate Nando would appeal to him – and with him declaring his affection for Liverpool a few years back it sounds like a match made in heaven – finances aside. Atleti could be interested in a number of our players – Lucas, Babel or Skrtel – so a deal could be struck in theory for £25m + a player – unless Chelsea or Man City come in for him which would blow us out of the water of course.

A much leaner looking squad complimented with a opportunities for Pacheco, Amoo, Ayala, Dalle Valle, Kelly and Ecclestone.

Also as well the Klass Jun Huntelear rumour, i wouldn't really mind see him coming but he won't be playing every week.

I have also heard that Yahya Kirdi is in talk's AGAIN about a takeover of the club, close sources to me have said if it goes through and everything is agreed in time, we will be takin' over by the Shut of the Transfer Window.

With Paynter out for 6–8 weeks , expect a couple premier league loan strikers in.
I did have slight hope for Hooper joining but I was daft enough to believe for a short while that KEN BATES was going to spend minimum of 2.5 million pound for a player so I think that rumour is finally over.

from blog grayson as done in the bradford telegraph , it seems that he only interested in bringing premier league players in on loans now and would still like to strenghten in a couple positions , so if we do sign anyone one on permanent it will only be the 1 or 2 players.

with only Becchio who i think will do okay in the championship he isn't our main scorer but he puts his life on line for us and the work he does on field his immense and still bags in 15 goals . Grella who is been rumoured to go out on loan to Lge1 club , needs to be playing weeke in week out for a season or 2 to build him up , give it a couple of year and he'll be a top striker. Somma who looks like staying with us this season , did well on loan last season and i think grayson will give him decent chance in X11 this year.(31)(12)

A left back – Konchesky

A defensive midfielder – Banega

LiverBird 1892 said at 24 Jul 2010 00:21:11

"I have got pretty good links with Liverpool and I'm hoping that the Ed can clarify this for me. Liverpool were offered Hatem Ben Arfa on loan from Marseille in the middle of the week but Liverpool asked to delay their decision until the Albert Reira–Olympiakos transfer went through. The reason for the delay was that they didn't want to take a player with quite a high pay package in case the Riera deal fell through. Now that Riera has gone, I have been told from a decent source linked to Anfield that Liverpool are now willing to take Ben Arfa on a season long loan with a view to a permanent £8million deal next summer depending on, if any, agreement Marseille have with Everton as they are extremely keen."

This whole matter of Ben Arfa being offered to Liverpool and Everton is potentially misleading for the readers. To the best of my knowledge, the following are the notable events that have taken place this week (ignoring all previous interest from Bordeaux and the player declaring he wishes to move to Paris Saint–Germain). Where i have added my thoughts on anything I have made it clear:

– An enquiry was made by Newcastle about the availability and cost of Ben Arfa on Tuesday. This was seemingly a very serious enquiry and there was a follow–up yesterday.
– Werder Bremen enquired about the player on Wednesday – and have since made matters clear by denying that they asked about buying the player – but only about taking the player on loan. I don't see this going any further.
– On Thursday Galatasaray approached Marseille and asked permission to speak with the player – but Ben Arfa (who is still away on pre–season training) apparently is not keen. If there is no other solution by early/mid next week I would expect the player to discuss options with Galatasaray.
– Yesterday (Friday), Wolfsburg declared an interest in the player with Marseille – asking to be kept informed of any potential move. I think that a move to Wolfsburg may gain momentum.
– If Liverpool are interested in the player, they need to talk to Marseille. Up to now there has been no contact between Marseille and Liverpool but obviously things can change quickly.
– The same is true with respect to Everton – they showed an interest in the player last year when he was very close to being fired by Marseille. Since then nothing.
– Marseille wish to sell the player for about euro 7M – say £6M. This is significantly less than they paid for him and perhaps should provide a warning to potential buyers.
– Marseille would only be willing to loan out the player for a year if they have a guaranteed sale at the end of it – which is effectively a sale with payment deferred until next June.
– Deschamps wants the player out as soon as possible and has made it clear he is becoming disruptive again. He says the matter is in the hands of Ben Arfa and that he wants a decision made next week.

I would warn Liverpool and Everton fans again about Ben Arfa. Whilst he really is a very talented young man, he is going to need pretty much constant care.
In the past he has disappeared for days on end, sulked, declared himself injured when the medical team say he is fit, fighting with team mates and more. There have been night clubs, rumours of hookers and a bunch of other stuff. Actually he would probably fit in pretty well in the Premier League.

Much was made in the French press of the player's Tunisian background when he joined Marseille – which is a city with a significant Algerian population. It has recently been suggested that the player will settle down once away from the city. Maybe – caveat emptor.

Sharkey.

Aston Villa return home today from there Training camp in Dublin after playing the Bohemians in a Pre–Season friendly. It is likely that O'Neill will try and bring in a new player during the time they are back in England due to the fact the club are flying to Portugal to play in some pre–season tournament against Benfica and Feyenoord.

The player likely to make the move to Villa is Robbie Keane who has been long admired by O'Neill and expressing an interest in joining Villa. The fee would be in the region of £8–£10 Million after Redknapp dropped his asking price earlier in the summer. If he signs before Thursday he will be included in the squad that will fly to Portugal as it would be a good test to see how he plays against top opponents.

Also as a Villa fan I DO NOT WANT MCGEADY his way to over rated and his hardly set the SPL alight in one of the best teams playing against league 1 standard teams. Editor what are your thoughts.

Paul Hartley

After much talk of Hartly returning to Hearts or going to Aberdeen I can 100% say that he will sign for Rangers on Monday. Rangers are struggling to replace Kevin Thomson due to wage demands and Hartley, due to his age, is seen as the experienced midfielder who will start to play deeper in front of the back 4. Suits Rangers due to lack of decent wage kitty and suits the player as it gets him back to Scotland. Also gives him the tag as being a player having played for Hibs, Hearts, Celtic and Rangers.

Wolves:

Steven Fletcher
Jelle Van Damme
Stephen Hunt
Steven Mouyokolo
Guriname N'Daw
Michael Mancienne

Walsall:

(Along with those who have already signed)

Jamie Cureton
Carl Baker (From Coventry on loan)

Reasonable sources; don't be surprised to see Walsall manager Chris Hutchings deploy a 4–4–2 next season, with strikers Deeney and Cureton leading the line, supported by wingers Julian Gray and Alex Nichols

Coventry would never let one of there first team players go out on loan there is no need for Carl Baker to go down a division when he can get first team football for coventry in the championship!(16)(23)

Rangers FC Transfer News–

Not rumour just fact next week will see Walter bring in his first summer signing Yohan Benalouane St Etienne centre half. He is in the last year of his contract and will be allowed to go for £2m. West Ham & Newcastle are also sniffing around but the former French under 21 player will choose Rangers & Champs League football next season. This will only add to the specualtion that Bougherra is almost certainly off and if a bid comes in around £5.5m he will be allowed to go and at least Walter will have cover.

With the cash from this sale Walter will go back in for Chris Brunt of WBA for around £2.5m –£3m who will join up with fellow Northern Ireland players Davis & Lafferty.

Rangers are also waiting on Marlon Harewood to choose either themselves or David O Leary's outfit in Dubai. If this falls thru, Walter will go back to Pompey for Nugent.

"Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is preparing to land a significant blow in his transfer battle with Manchester City.
Not satisfied with winning the race to sign Benfica midfielder Ramires in a £20million deal, Abramovich has sanctioned a second raid on the Portuguese club for their £27m–rated defender David Luiz."

Also arsenal in for santi cazorla? if arsenal use walcott as a striker.

please give me your thoughts, thanks(16)(31)

 24 Jul 2010 03:49:51
This is not a rumour a mere thought/opinion, lennon says there will be bedlam at parkhead after america, bedlam suggests he has so many targets in place but no guarentees.. i for one am a loyal fan home and away europe also but realistic enough to realise we will not be signing keane/bellamy without the sale of mcgeady..who ironically i feel would have his best season at celtic park this yr as thompson is coach.i.e final ball mcgeadys weak point, thommos strong point..the sale from aiden in an ideal world would capture a european class cb, bellamy/keane probs bellamy due to man city finacncial superiority and a bk up keeper..the lad camp from forest would be a great shout.(8)(17)

Rangers will bring 3 new faces to boost their squad. Names linked were Holman (loan), Goncalves, Yohan Benalouane, Michael Tonge.
Rangers expect to announce 2 signings towards the end of the trip to oz or shortly just after.
McGregor should stay but Madjid Bougherra is set to join Stuttgart in a deal worth 5.75 million.

McGeady is to join Oneill at Villa for 10 million although Lennon wants him to stay. Celtic will sign David James on a 2 and a half year deal.

That is all.(26)(32)

Torres is staying at lfc, wants to stay in england and only 1 team can afford him, and why go to man c when they don't have champions league either, will leave next year though if hodgson does nothing, same for gerrard(48)(32)

 24 Jul 2010 01:52:14
Roy Hodgson is setting Liverpool up for playing a 4–3–1–2 by signing Huntelaar. If Gerrard stays, so will Torres, that's been blatently obvious for some time.

Mascherano will be sold for 10m plus Cambiasso, giving a middle 3 of Gerrard Cambiasso and Aquilani. Joe Cole to play in the hole behind Torres and Huntelaar.

Wayne Bridge to be signed as left back, back up to be taken from the yout squad, as Roy is keen to appease Kenny.

Good times ahead!

LFC news:
Mascherano to inter milan for £28 million
roy to replace him with Flamini for £4million
could well be the signing of the summer, when flamini was at arsenal he was arguably as good as mascherano was that season & hasn't had a look in at AC Milan (a bit unfairly)

Just back from Celtic Park getting my number printed on new kit. When i was there celtic team arrived back from america and samaras, mcgeady and lennon werent there.

McGeady wasn't in America so there's a good chance he wouldn't have been on the coach when it brought them back! Also Samaras may have been at the front of the bus pulling it!

THIS IS A LOT OF RUBBISH !
CELTIC TEAM ARE IN LONDON FOR THERE GAME AGAINST LINCOLN ON SAT

Not really a fail as the play in The Emirates Cup next weekend and are probably using a London base rather than multiple long trips to Glasgow an visa versa.

To clear up something else:

Chamakh was signed in the knowledge of Dudu's likely transfer out of Arsenal so listing striking targets is pointless as there will be no striking additions.

FOR A START I NEVER SAID LINCOLN WAS IN LONDON A JUST SAID THEY WERE IN LONDON SO READ PROPERLY BEFORE YOU TRY AND GET ALL GEOGRAPHICAL WITH US.

AND ANYWAY MCGEADY HAS A THIGH INJURY SUPPOSEDLY SO HE WOULD DEFINETELY NOT BE ON THE BUS AS HE WASN'T EVEN WITH THE SQUAD IN AMERICA(7)(28)

Steven defour to join lfc and link up with former team mate jovanovic as mascherano replacement for around 12.5mill defour himself is quoted as saying in an interview anfield would be a prefered club if he were to come to the premiership

Merseyred"

Merseyred, whilst he would be a decent aquisition, I think that he and mascherano are two different players to start off with, but fergie has been very vocal in his perusit over the last few years (very similar to ruud van nistelrooy). However I think that the main reason that LFC won't buy him is that after the Aqualini debacle last year, the club won't take a punt on an injured player again.(35)(31)

Why do celtic fans keep saying that bellemys only option is celtic and that he said he wouldn't play for another EPL team. Why? he's already played for Newcastle, west ham and currently Man City doesn't sound like a guy who's loyal to one club

My bets are on Tottenham

BECAUSE BELLAMY SAID IT HIMSELF IN AN INTERVIEW. PRETTY GOOD SOURCE I THINK.

Errrm, no he didn't, he said that he couldn't see himself playing for another epl team and that left CARDIFF as his only option as all his family live there!!

HE SAID IN AN INTERVIEW THAT HE HAD UNFINISHED BUSINESS IN GLASGOW AND WOULD LIKE TO RETURN AT SOME POINT. HE SAID HE WOULDN'T GO TO ANOTHER EPL TEAM OR OVERSEAS AND WOULD LIKE TO RETURN TO CARDIFF AT SOME POINT. SO CARDIFF ARE FAR FROM HIS ONLY OPTION.(20)(21)

While recognising we are short in the left–back position, we'd be right up the swany if we had an injury in the goalkeeping position.

Any news on the rumours the Reds were looking at Wayne Hennesey as a back–up to Pepe? {editor's note – we have decent back up in Gulasci, I doubt very much that we need cover for Reina. I haven't heard of any moves for a keeper, other than kids scouted for the academy.}(20)(8)

Why does that Bristol city fan always ask three times, my theory is his accent has put numerous women off over the years, to the point he just hassles them over and over, please please please, anyhow for you mate, your stadium plans are in tatters after planning was denied for a sainsburys on ashton gate, this leaves plymouth as the only viable candidate in the south west as they have planning accepted for a 48,000 seat stadium, which in turn might adversely effect Bristols promotion plans.

Sorry mate, but City have full planning permission for the stadium and there are other funding channels. The Sainsbury issue is up in the air at the moment (challenge against the veracity of the committee that denied permission – long story). The stadium will be built and fully funded – unlike Plymouth who have absolutley no idea of where the funding will come from given the financial situation.(43)(12)

 24 Jul 2010 00:21:11
I have got pretty good links with Liverpool and I'm hoping that the Ed can clarify this for me. Now that Riera has gone, I have been told from a decent source linked to Anfield that Liverpool are now willing to take Ben Arfa on a season long loan with a view to a permanent £8million deal next summer depending on, if any, agreement Marseille have with Everton as they are extremely keen. Ed, have you heard anything on this at all?

On to other news and I have very good sources remember.

Anyway, Liverpool did make an offer for Wayne Bridge which Man City did actually reject. Liverpool offered £5million for him but with City paying £10million for him, they have told Liverpool if they want him they need to make a serious offer, and City will only open negotiations if Liverpool offer at least £8million. Roy Hodgson has now turned his attention to German international Marcell Jansen, who would carry a fee of around £7million. He is younger, quicker and has a better cross accuracy than Bridge and for an extra £2million would be the best long term aquisition. Jansen is being used as a left midfielder at Hamburg but he wants to primarily be used as a left back which he will be guaranteed at Liverpool.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar is still a target despite Adriano Galliani saying Huntelaar will not be going anywhere. Huntelaar wants first team football and he is not getting anywhere near the first team in Milan, he hardly makes any substitute appearances and is very unhappy. If any approach for him, no matter from which club, is rejected by Milan, he will push for a transfer and may even hand in a written transfer request. Liverpool want him on loan but if Milan reject, Liverpool will apparently walk and turn their attention elsewhere. Although a compromise could be reached providing that Liverpool loan them Ryan Babel in exchange and if all works out at the end of the season, perform a straight swap (possibly cash too) depending on how each player performs throughout the season. This would be the ideal scenario for both players as they will both get the first team action they crave.

Loic Remy is no longer a target and will probably sign for West Ham and Liverpool may pursue the potential signing of Carlton Cole if the Huntelaar deal falls through.

To the person who posted this: (My response in CAPS and brackets to make it distinguishable)

23 Jul 2010 20:47:14
"Just like Gerrard, Torres will stay. However, im not sure Mascherano will. To be honest if he goes, he will leave us a healthy £25m to spend on new players. We need a class left back and cover, central midfielder if he leaves and another winger, not forgetting a top quality striker."

[I AGREE TORRES WILL STAY. AS FOR WINGERS THOUGH, YOU HAVE KUYT, J.COLE, MAXI, BABEL AND JOVANOVIC, SO WHY SPEND WHAT LITTLE MONEY YOU HAVE ON ANOTHER WINGER?]

"There has been links with Bridge, Taiwo and Santon for the left back position. Out of these three i would much prefer Santon. Rumours about a center midfielder has included the likes of Defour, Parker, VDV and also Cambiasso. Possible wingers have included, Young, Turan and SWP. Hoping for Young to be honest, as it would be a brilliant signing. Hodgson is keen on the player and Villa have been rumoured to be eying up Celtic's McGeady. Then as for the striker options, the rumours include Remy, Huntelaar and Aguero. Torres is keen on the signing of Aguero and said it would show the club's intent, personally i think this would be the kind of signing to reignite Liverpool's title challenge. Remy looks as though he is moving to the Hammers now unless Liverpool rival their bid. And Tottenham are now the favourites to sign Hunterlaar."

[SANTON WOULD COST YOU £15MILL (VERY HIGHLY RATED) AND IS A RIGHT–BACK NATURALLY. PARKER IS THE CHEAPEST OUT OF THOSE CENTRE MIDS (ALTHOUGH THEY'D NEED A DEFENSIVE MID SURELY?), SAY AROUND £8–10MILL. ASHLEY YOUNG WOULD COST £20MILL AND AGUERO £25MILL AT LEAST. LIVERPOOL DEFINITELY DO NOT HAVE £70MILL+ TO SPEND! EVEN IF THEY DO SELL MASCH, THEY WON'T HAVE MORE THAN £40MILL TO SPEND!]

[MORE REALISTIC TARGETS FOR LIVERPOOL ARE FIGUEROA (£5MILL, MAYBE CHEAPER), RETO ZIEGLER (LEFT–BACK – £6MILL), BRYAN RUIZ (£12MILL). DUNNO ABOUT A DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER THOUGH, I IMAGINE THEY'LL LOOK AT TARGETS IF/WHEN MASCH IS SOLD](19)(31)

To the bloke who said "Reasonable sources; don't be surprised to see Walsall manager Chris Hutchings deploy a 4–4–2 next season, with strikers Deeney and Cureton leading the line, supported by wingers Julian Gray and Alex Nicholls"

Are you serious?

You mean Hutchings is planning on using the same 4–4–2 system that he has spent the last 18 months playing? Jeez, I'm really surprised by that.

You mean he is going to play Deeney up front? That's a surprise, what him being a centre forward.

Ditto for Gray and Nicholls, I can't believe he is playing wingers on the wing, why not centre halves?

Ed there has to be some legs in this aguero to LFC rumour because i have heard a lot of people mention it on the internet and out and about plus do u have any idea what people are in the running to takeover the club? Any mega rich people? {editor's note – the Aguero rumours are just wishful thinking because the lad said he was a Liverpool fan. I don't have any idea who is bidding for the club at all though, sorry, all that you see in papers etc is just guesswork.}(15)(29)

Nice try in trying to hoodwink people though.(9)(33)

Triple Dutch swoop for Newcastle
Van Arnholt (1m)
De Guzman(free)
Huntelaar (10m)
Huntelaar is the big if, but still sees newcastle as a big club and is going knowing he'll be first choice.
Ashley has sanctioned one 10m signing a season paid for by his own pocket (ala Colocinni)(20)(37)

I've 2 definites that will happen in the coming days Mark Hughes will be manager of fulham and Craig Bellamy will sign for Celtic but only on loan for 1 year , it still pisses bellers off that Rangers won league on last day in his last loan spell in 2005 and coming back for "unfinished business"(32)(30)

Aguero WILL sing for liverpool after the deal for masch has been agreed wich i think rafa should buy him for about 35–40 mil as he valued him at 50mil. if rafa pays less than 35mil then he'll be in the bad books of the LFC fans. thanks(31)(39)

To the illiterate who wrote:

Mark Reynolds being considered by uncle Walter for the Gers if move for Goncalves doesn't materialise. Holman probably isn't any better than Naismith and Fleck. Hopefully Smith's links at OT will help with a couple of the fringe players like Wellbeck sent north. Davis is a fan and will stay. If a crazy bid came in Craig Bryson would be a decent replacement. He's always done well against the potato bhoys. Bougherra and Miller will go if decent offers come along but they'd be leaving the Champions and playing Champions League football under one of the best coaches in Britain. What other club can give them that.

Celtic will continue to be linked with good players and end up buying from the Championship and take a punt on unknown foreigners. As with last season it'll take till Xmas until they get used to playing together. They do have to improve God bless 'em.

I'm very close to Mark Reynolds and can Guarantee you that it doesn't matter what Walter is considering, Mark will never sign for Rangers! and I'll also bet you that Kenny Miller leaves before the season starts, sinking st.ooops I mean ship and all that.
