Still, the East Midlands best current club with the best history beats Leicester by a long shot. There are contradictory reports coming out of costa rica in terms of Joel Campbell proposed transfer to arsenal. His father said yesterday that another 'great English team' has made an offer, but there are now quotes from him saying that he is having a medical which is being overseen from arsenal. We'll just have to wait until it's fully confirmed for this one, but it has the Ricky Alvarez situation written all over it.

Have a close contact with a member of staff at Southampton, we will make 2 signings this week.
It won't be Maynard as people are saying. We only ever enquired (weeks ago) and were shocked at the price they wanted.
The Sharp deal is dead. He wanted a high wage and relocation costs covered for by the club, that was a non-mover as soon as he requested it.
The striker we have chosen to pursue is Marvin Sordell at Watford, a fee in the region of 1.75m rising to 2.5m has been agreed and he will travel to Staplewood in the next few days for talks.
Another target, contrary to beliefs is not a CB - it's another winger. Keith Treacy from PNE is being sought after and we're hoping Mills impresses during his trial so he can be used as a sweeter in any deal.

Everton have all but signed Nicholas Bendtner from Arsenal on a season long loan. The only snag is the percentage of his wages we can afford with Arsenal holding out for near 100% but Everton unable to do so.
If they fail, they will be once again looking to former loanee Jo from Man City and Carlton Cole from West Ham. The Cole deal will be a permanent transfer which will see Sylvain Distin moving the other way as Everton cannot afford the fee.
In order to raise funds, we are also looking to offload Mikel Arteta, Maruane Fellaini and Jack Rodwell ASAP so we have time to get other targets in. If we can get £40m for them, we would get about £25m to spend on young players (yes I know JR is young but he's a saleable assett) and would be able to keep hold of Howard and Cahill.

What is it with Brighton, Leicester and Saints that makes people so regulalrly predict so many people signing for them every day? What is it that keeps the endless optimisim despite so little happening? It can't be just the seaside air as the last time I went to see Leicester I didn't spend much time on the beach
Now a few other thoughts.
1. Everyone is forgetting we are still in a recession, and football is no different generally - so most clubs will not do big business this summer (just like in the winter break).
2. Only those who have rich Owners have money to burn, or Man Utd. Most others will not spend as much as they get in for players sold.
3. The signings that are being made are mainly too much money for too little clear talent - I give you Henderson and Jones, both of who may blossom but both of who cost far too much for what they have to offer.
4. Sunderland seem to be busy spending a lot of money on a lot of not such great talent. The classic thing for a club that will end up the season in the lower half of the premiership.
5. Arsenal will not change habits because it's what Arsene truly believes in - so Cahill will go to Chelsea and Saints will want too much for Chamberlain. I've said it once and I'll say it again Arsene will not sign mega names for mega fees - he never has and he never will.
For all those that moan about that do not forget that you knew nothing about Henry, Vieira, Fabregas, Petit, Flamini, Anelka, Adebayor, Vermailen, Hleb, Sagna and so many others before Arsene bought them - so keep an open mind for now.(7)(14)

As Damien Commolli has already stated, Liverpool's transfer activity has almost finished, with this he means the major transfers in to the club... The only two new "major" signings will be Ally Cissokho from Lyon for £8.5m AND Scott Dann from Birmingham for £10m. This will complete the first team squad for the forthcoming season.
A few loan deals will be completed for our youngsters, beginning with Bruna to Blackpool and Pacheco to Coventry.
Those surplus to requirements and WILL leave if the right offer comes in and they agree to a move, some want to stay and fight for their place, but Liverpool want to reduce the wage bill.
