Rafa isnt really impressed with his current options and has stated that he would be willing to take hard-working professionals on a loan as he obviously believes such a stop-gap is acceptable. It'd also buy him time to search for replacements. With Villa and Alves being Rafa's main intentions (after what we've bought in), he may well feel he is paying over-the-odds, no matter how good they are. Forget not he has filled our other, just-as-problematic (Lately) wing with a £4m winger called Gonzales and may look for equal value all over. I also believe the Micah Richards to spurs rumour to be true, though if they dnt act fasr they may be paying TRIPLE the £5m being demanded now by next season. The Hammers are expected to announce the signing of Ghana Star John Pantsil who was recommended by Yossi Benayoun. The Ghana man is said to be keen on a switch to Upton Park and the Hammers will fork out 700,000 for the Ghanian.

Mourinho wants to bring in Pavel Nedved, Allesandro Nesta, Fabio Cannavaro, Simao Sabrosa, Ashley Cole and Roberto Carlos before the end of the transfer window.

Watford Manager Adie Boothroyd is keen to reap the possible rewards of the match fixing scandal in Italy by signing Man Utd players who are likely to fall down the pecking order with the imminent arrival of Patrick Viera and Rino Gattuso to Old Trafford. Bothroyds relationship with members of the Hierarchy have seen him secure the loan services of Ben Foster and Chris Eagles in recent seasons, and now Darren Fletcher, John O'Shea, and Guiseppe Rossi could be plying their trade at Vicarage Road this season.
Luton manager Mike Newell has identified Watford forgotten man Hameur Bouazza as the man to spearhead his attack going to this seasons push for a play off place. Newell has spoken of the "Searing Pace" that the young Frenchman has, that will strike fear into all oppenents this season. Bouazza's transfer is likely to cost a nominal fee, however the real price may come in the form of winning over the Luton fans.

Aparently West Ham have agreed a deal for Javier Saviola for £3.75m and it all depends on whether the player fancies the move or not. He also claims that West Ham have been in contact with Fiorentina and agreed deals for Sebastien Frey (Goalkeeper), Valeri Bojinov (Forward) and Luis Jimenez (Midfielder). He says that the fees will be undisclosed as he thinks that they will be very small - around £1m for each of the three.
To be honest I can't see any of these deals coming off but hey what do I know.
sheffield wednesday manager Paul Sturrock still hopes to land Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson on a season-long loan deal. Sturrock describes wednesday as being at 'the front of the queue' in their attempts to land him. Sturrock is also understood to want another outfield player after the capture of a goalkeeper. He is yet to confirm which position he requires filling but Duncan Ferguson has been mooted.

Close source to manchester city, Lua Lua set to announce his arrival at eastlands within 48hrs. Great news for everyone invoved with mcfc, with the striker netting 7 goals last season for pompey!!
The guy from the Spanish restaurant was close to the money with his Villa/Garcia post. However, just to clarify matters the third individual was not Garcia's agent but was a part of David Villa's entourage. It was not Villa's agent but was a very senior member of his team and one who could "informally" discuss the situation with Rafa. Very close to a "tap up" but not quite.
Apparently Amedeo Carboni (Valencia's Sporting Director)has singled out Cristiano Ronaldo as his number one summer target and in order to fund the deal Valencia are prepared to offload Villa (foolishly if you ask me). Benitez is trying to tag on the Garcia aspect as it will resolve two issues, Garcia wanting out and help with the funding of the deal (Garcia is valued at £6.5m), Rafa is trying to promote Garcia as an attacking option to help fill the space left by Villa and to link up with Ronaldo. My source informs me that Rafa flew out to Spain on Saturday with the intention of hopefully opening and concluding negotiations on a number of players.

The Glazers have given the manager full backing and have told him that if he believes the players will improve utd then they will do everything to back him. firstly to midfield. in an amazing story patrick viera will sign for the red devils this year either on loan or a permanent deal. another midfielder arriving at old trafford is gattuso from milan. gattuso had crunch talks with his agent this week and decided with milan being kicked out of the champions league and the likelyhood of player having to take pay cuts he will move to a club he has said all along that he would love to play for. thirdly is the signing of michael carrick who should join shortly(where'd you think tottenham's money's come from to but berbatov, zakora and now duff). up front a fee of 23mill has been agreed for the transfer of fernando torres to man utd. all that needs to be done now is for an agreement to be reached on the players wages. also a last minute change on keeper front as the deal for kuschak has been pulled and utd will now chase BUFFON. also del piero to tottenham
The Petrov-Portsmouth deal may not go ahead as Celtic are holding out for as much money as possible. Celtic are willing to accept 4.5mil up front but they also want a number of other clauses added into the deal. While Celtic know Petrov is good enough for the Premiership, they feel he will struggle in a poor Pompey team and will fail to impress, so they have demanded first option if Pompey decide he is surplus to requirments. Celtic have also demanded 30% of any future transfer fee if Petrov moves on to a big club. Finally Celtic want 250000if Portsmouth avoid relegation for each year of Petrovs first contract, wheter he is still at Fratton Park or not.

However much David Villa would cost, he would surely be a new record signing for LFC.
For a story like that to be kept out of the Echo is unprecedented. That is why we can safely assume it wont happen.
People outside Liverpool might not realise that unlike national papers, when the Echo says LFC are after a player, they are. If they don't mention a player, it is usually someone no-one has heard of.
There has been, to my knowledge, NO MENTION of David Villa in the Echo.
The fact it has been mentioned in other papers makes it less likely, not more.
A large portion of the Echo's readership only or mainly buys the paper for its coverage of LFC.
If national papers were getting the inside scoop on the Liverpool manager's deals, the Echo would suffer immeasurably.
The Echo has also always been a loyal friend to the club (ask any bluenoses and they'll assure you this is true) so the idea that they would be kept in the dark is disturbing, especially when Chris Bascombe (the LFC correspondant) is so pro-Benitez that the club effectively uses the paper to make unofficial press releases about the availability of players without putting them onto the transfer market.
Alan Pardew has given up hope of signing Steed Malbranque from Fulham as the players wage demands are ridiculously high. Pardew wants a right sided midfielder to balance up his side and will turn his attentions to either Jermaine Pennant of Birmingham or Sidney Govou of Lyon.
Hammers will also sign Rob Green from Norwich for around £2m and still want Aldo Duscher from Deportivo la Coruna.

My company got the contract to set up the training facilities for Man U in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg while on pre-season tour in South Africa. WHile watching the keepers (Luke Steele and Ben Foster, who is going back on loan to Watford next season) train I asked Sir Alex if Luke Steele was now the 2nd choice keeper. He said no they are busy concluding a deal for West Brom's Polish goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak. I then asked him about the John Mikel Obi saga. He said that he could not really discuss it but believed in African players a lot after having Quinton Fortune, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Obi (If not even briefly) He said he was looking at Orlando Pirates young Stiker Daniel Serman who scored 14 goals in 32 matches last season for Pirates. He did not play in the game against Man U over the weekend but Sir Alex did watch him in training before and after the game in Durban.
Jobi McAnuff will sign for Watford from Crystal Palace for around £1.5 million, Danny Shittu will sign for the Hornets for £3 million and Aidy Boothroyd will re-sign Icelandic striker, Heidar Helguson from Fulham for £1 million.
