Portsmouth have signed Paul Benson and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing on loan from Swindon and Peterborough

Well done Pompey, both good signings. Wish we (Oxford) could have got Benson. And good luck with the judgement tomorrow. Once you get that sorted, only one way you are going.....up the league(s)

So once the court judgement is sorted does that mean your 10 point deduction kicks in?

The 10 pt deduction is far from certain. I would hope the league will realise a third successive season of points deduction is excessive. Many thanks to the Oxford fan and other genuine football fans for their good luck messages.

How do you make that out? I thought the league have already decided when you come out of administration the 10 points will be taken away. Rules are rules if they let you get away with they would leave themselves open for everybody else to have no points deducted

Shouldn't swindon have points deducted for breaking the financial fair play rules? Cheating greedy #####

The minus ten point was if we came out of admin through Portpin...

Coming out of administratiopn is still a long way off! Can't see an agreement being reached on the ground for a long time, can't see the money promised actually coming through (never does) can't see the bill for the administrators can be met, can't see the tax man is not going to have another bite at you, can't see the football authorities accepting the supporters deal is financially viable.

Even if Pompey got through that lot, they will DEFINITELY lose 10 points on coming out of administration. Do you believe other clubs in League 1 would accept anything different??

You can not expect continuous charity from the rest of the football world, it is not fair competition.

As a Pompey fan we need to make a clean break from our dodgy recent past and play by the rules. Lets accept the 10 point deduction, celebrate our community club and look to the future.

We would not have been in administration again if the league had completed a real 'Fit & Proper' test.

As previously stated the 10 points deduction is from coming out of administration via PORTPIN.

But Swindon didnt go into administration. So how can you give them a 10 point deduction? So every team that breaks ffp will have 10 points taken away, that's going to be alot clubs then from all divisions

The 10 point deduction was giving to pompey as a club not a to the owner

The 10 pt deduction was a possibility not a certainty from the league. As for the poster asking why othe clubs in div 1 would vote against a deduction, simple! Last weekend was a good example, away from home they took 1000 fans to a club that usually attracts less than 4000 in total...........the answer is money!

So that means if every club in administration and get a new owner the 10 points deduction should be wiped out. I thought the 10 points deduction was to try and stop clubs getting into financial trouble. Portsmouth over spent when Harry was the manager and are paying the price now.

Saying Swindon should get a 10pt deduction is like saying you need to get a £1000 fine for going over drawn because you need to pay car repairs, Swindon weren't the only club with this embargo. It was because they didn't plan on paying full amount for two players from tribunal.

So the 10 point was a only possibility ? I thought every club that went into administration had points docked? Or is there a special rule for Portsmouth

17 Nov 2012 17:03:47
anyone who says a points deduction is fair is probably a gory hunting united or chelsea fan! we got a 9 point deduction when we went into admin the first time. then a 10 point deduction last year for second admin. How is a 3rd deduction for only a second admin fair? cut us a break what the fans have done to save this club is phenomenal, and if the football league had of carried out proper background checks or Convers Sports, Al-Fahim, Al Mirage we wouldnt be in this situation

You all need to realise that Pompey is a bit of a fantasy island in respect of financial matters. They still do not seem to be able to grasp that they have to play by the same rules as other teams in the leagues.
Listening to local radio today after they lost at home some "supporter" suggested they should "buy a new forward"!
YOU ARE IN ADMINISTRATION, YOU HAVE BILLS TO PAY EVEN IF YOU COME OUT OF ADMINISTRATION (Ground, Administrator?), YOU WOULD THEN BE DEDUCTED 10 POINTS.

No not fair but league rules

We would cut your a break lets have the facts you have over spent for many years as supporter from the same league as you personally I don't care about what happens. You want sympathy from us how have been in the lower leagues for a long time did u care about us when u were in the prem i don't think so

Docking them 10 pts doesn't help matters really, it really puts new investment off investing, I wish all the best to Pompey I really do. (STFC fan)

...they get their first win since Mick Channon was swinging his arm in celebration and still Southampton fans are showing their obsession with Portsmouth. As a Chelsea fan i wish them luck, Southampton will forever be in the shadow of their bigger rivals (hence the bitterness and jealousy)

Portsmouth FC have signed striker Paul Benson on a month loan deal from Swindon Town

Looking for one called Hedges now, and then they will disappear in one big puff!

About time too. {Ed003's Note - that was better than the Konan one lol}

Good signing and we have signed Mendez-laing after he was transfer listed by peterborough after breaching club discipline

Rubbish player, absolute leg iron. Think relegation for us is inevitable with this kind of signing

Disagree, at the level we are at, both are solid signings. One with potential that needs work, the other experienced with a decent goals return. Sure, if we had millions to spend we could have got better players, but we don't have that anymore.

Mendez-laing looked quality v doncaster got MOTM and Benson looked good at holding ball up lloks like hell bag a few

Benno is a good solid player, he's unlucky not to be playing at town.

Just what Southampton need - another striker.

And a barbarian, to boot! {Ed003's Note - awful! }

Bloody barbarians Ed.

What a great result! we have now got the measure of the Premiership and I reckon we are on our way!

If he is tall, stick up him at the back! lol tbf, a much better performance against qpr, defensively very tidy.

Grimsby news:

Elding to leave on a free transfer with Wrexham, Mansfield and a couple of League 2 clubs interested. Grimsby looking at a loan to a permanent. This would allow for Grimsby to sign loanee Ross Hannah on a permanent deal from Bradford.

Also Grimsby are trying to sign another loanee that they currently have. Scott Neilson is on loan from Crawley and Grimsby are trying to make that a permanent too.

They also have a deal in place to sign Nathan Pond from Fleetwood.

Think you'll find he's signed for Preston today!

Grimsby cant afford hannah bradford want 1oo.ooo

luis surarez to man city in january due to to the south american players at man city around 40 - 50 million

Norwich could move for Ajax striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson wich is one of the most highly-rated front-men in Europe.

Zaha joining norwich city

Are either of these for real, or just speculation and wishful thinking?

Rubbish, both of them would have to move to Leeds first.

Wolves will look to sign Notts County midfielder Alan Judge, if they miss out on signing Frimpong on loan.

Wolves can look but can not touch! Very much doubt they have the 2 mill required bearing in mind 1.5 was turned down over the summer!

We brought in 30m in the summer 2m aint nothin

Very much doubt Judge is worth that we dont want him 2m ya havin a laugh ya whole teams not worth that.

If you saw him play youd realise if reading bid 1.5million clearly he is good

Yeah and reading are a massive team not

There better than wolves haha you spend all this money and where are you mid table mick mcarthy was doing a good job keeping you in prem then all of a sudden you sack him what more did you want...

Reading better than wolves ya havin a laugh wolves bigger club better stadium better fanbase and more history what football history have reading got sweet fa

Wolves...a team full of Reading REJECTS!! enough said i think.

Better stadium are you stupid...btw who are these wolves rejects yeah reading premier league wolves 18th championship despite apparently spending 30 mil wow you have history what you doing now nothing history is nothing in football having history isnt going to win you trophies liverpool have history but what they doing ... keep playing like you are and youll be in league 1 next haha

Notice how you turned to liverpool just cos readings won **** all

Liverpool's Luis Suarez link to Manchester City is being rubbished by City, Liverpool and Suarez's agent. Just idle chat from the morning papers with nothing better to talk about. However, several players are expected to leave Anfield in January and the summer. Brendan Rodgers is monitoring the interest in Joe Cole, Stewart Downing, Henderson, Agger & Doni. Brazilian Doni has only made 4 league appearances for the Reds, and is expected to move back to his native land in the summer. Several clubs are interested in taking Downing on loan. Henderson is reportedly frustrated with his lack of chances, and is not expected to stick around. Andy Carroll is keen on a move away from Merseyside, to either Newcastle or West Ham. Jay Spearing, however, has been promised more first team chances when he returns from his loan at Bolton, at the end of the season.

Not being funny, but if Manc want Suarez he will join...

Being Serious , No he won't !

Everton are monitoring Lewis Holtby's contract situation at Schalke.

15 Nov 2012 11:34:54
This is apparently true. Everton, however, are only one of a number of clubs in the Premiership and across Europe keeping an eye on the situation.

Ive heard its a done deal for the summer as he is an everton fan his dad is also a massive blue and he wants his dad to see him play at goodison and he will reveal all in january he said in a recent interveiw that out of respect for schalke he isnt saying anything yet but he has gone with his heart with his decision
