We don't want Deeney at Millwall he's an over rated Donkey. Let him stay at Watford with the most dull fans & shocking stadium.... If you can call it that!

Believable4 Unbelievable2

EHMMMM ...... Still beat you twice again this season blah blah blah

Agree0 Disagree0

Bristol city will be the dark horses next season with Watford agree!

Wolves will win the championship, Wednesday will also do well. Watford the dark horses. (I'm a Leicester fan)

Believable1 Unbelievable9

Cant really predict it when no ones signed anyone... and im also a leicester fan, surely you'd expect us to do well? true fan, ofcourse? here before we had money? ofcourse not...

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Wolves will do well.
Wednesday mid-table (good for a newly promoted club).
Watford sold a few big player over the past year so I'm not convinced, definitely lower half of the table.

I think Leicester will do well (they have to) and B'ham/W ham depending on who goes up. Bolton and Blackburn will struggle to go straight back up as I don't think they are set up for relegation after all the years in the prem - mid-table for them.

Relegated will be Barnsley (can see sales this year by them), Peterborough and Bristol City.

Agree0 Disagree0

God dont give wednesday fans more reason to be big headed they only finished 2nd in league 1 n waford dark horses really?

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a Wolves fan thanks for the vote of confidence but surely it depends on who we can hold onto and if we can get some decent defenders because this lot are not not up to much. We also need a manager if they give it to Conor then i cant see the faithful being on side we could demonstrate every week like Blackburn and end up in div 1

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the Wolves fan but you won't be relegated, whatever. Southampton came 2nd in league 1 but can't see back to back promotions again. Barnsley must be favourites for drop. Expect Forest to do much better. Leicester? F*** knows!

Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones has targeted five strikers and could be tempted bringing all of them in as he seeks a new 4-3-3 formation to compete in the Championship with three out and out forwards.
The first is thought to be experienced attacker Neil Harris. The Southend forward is expected to be a free agent in the summer and could sign a short term deal at Hillsborough.
A loan deal in the pipeline is England under 21 international Connor Wickham. The 19 year old Sunderland striker has been told by boss Martin O'Neill he can leave on loan and Jones is keen on the highly rated forward.
Another player who is set to join is Derby forward Chris Maguire. The 23 striker impressed a number of sides whilst on loan at Portsmouth and has been told he can leave if Wednesday can match the fee of around £300,000.
The fourth is thought to be MK Dons striker Dean Bowditch. The former Yeovil player is wanted by a number of Championship clubs but is thought to be very keen on a move to South Yorkshire. Bowditch is only expected to move to Wednesday if Dons don't get promoted to the Championship via the play offs.
Finally, another League 1 striker in Bournemouth forward Wesley Thomas is expected to sign this week. The former Cheltenham hitman has impressed Jones and could sign a three year deal by the weekend.

Taylor is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for him. He needs to improve to play in the Prem but he has qualities that would suit. He needs to lift his head up more and pass as well as shoot. If we got £1.5m for him I'd be happy!

Just a thought...

Agbonlahor from Villa?

Quick, confidence player, think he would thrive at Southampton, maybe time for him to have a change to push himself towards an England place

Believable0 Unbelievable7

Would he leave Villa? He's a fan after all. Beside's he's not as good as he was a few years ago, I think if we want pace we should go for Philips, plus he's younger, with better potential.

Agree0 Disagree0

Too old. Don't mind a bit of youth and inexperience in the prem up front, I would like to see experience focussed in midfield and defence rather than an ageing forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

Too OLD? He's 25. Hardly ancient.

not a rumour as such more of a working out after reading dave allen saying there in talks with a couple of big players and john sheridan saying one is a striker who has played non league and all four pro divisions i thought i would spend hours on the net to find a list of potential candidates but could only find one which is dave kitson there surley must be someone else as really cant see chesterfield signing him but thats the only name i could find {Ed003's Note - Brett Ormerod,maybe?? just off the top of my head}

Reading:-

On their way in are:

McCleary - Forest (Free) - Winger
Mariappa - Watford (£2m) - Centre back
Sigurdasson (not Gylfi) - (£2.5m rising to £3.5m) - striker

LB and RB on list but not sure who yet. Still strong rumours about renewing interest in Wayne Bridge who has told Reading he just wants to play football.

On their way out:

Brian Howard - Doncaster Rovers (Free)
Mathieu Manset - Australian A League (Nominal fee)
Michail Antonio - Sheff Weds (£900k)

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Congratulations on being realistic. Very few people on here take a deep breath before shouting out random signings on here.

Good luck next year in the prem, I do think you could do with an out and out goal scorer, you were pulled over the line (in my opinion) by Roberts and Le Fondre last year. I think Roberts is too old for prem and Le Fondre isn't that great.

Not being bitter as I am a Saints fan and you deserved it, just my constructive (?!) opinion. Le Fondre was OK as an impact sub but can't see him being anything special long term in the prem. I know you have a lot of love for him - just my opinion. Good luck nonetheless.

LOL at all the Charlton fans stating their club will spend millions and buy everyone eg. Yakubu, Whittingham, Beckford, Mills LOL just because Powell knows some of these players doesnt mean they will go to a club thats just been promoted, im pleased Charlton have been promoted, its a good club with good fans and a really good manager in Powell, liked hium from when he was at Leicester but just because you've been promoted doesnt mean you can sign everyone.

but apart from that good luck this season, would be great if you have success

premier league:

Akinfenwa! He is too fat to play higher than League 2. Northampton fans can sleep easy - I don't think there is any mileage in this rumour.

I think people should stop getting on at Reading and Southampton. These are two brilliant clubs that were not promotion candidates, and have now acheived that. Well Played Lads, wish you, and all your fans the best of luck!

As for portsmouth, it is an absolute tragedy that such a historic club is in such difficulty, but they will be back, believe you me!

Cheers for the great vibe ou give this page Ed! {Ed003's Note - No probs}

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Thank you it's good to actually have a response from a fan with a brain that doesn't belive half of this dribble

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers mate, good to see a sensible post. This is a football forum and Saints fans would be the first to admit some of us get carried away. In any fans lifetimes Southampton have never achieved as much as they have in the last couple of seasons. We've just stayed afloat in the prem for most fans, so back to back promotions and actually winning consistently does go to our heads and I think many don't know how to deal with it without getting carried away!

We are a very grounded club though with very realistic ambitions. We want a couple of solid signings then just to stay in the prem next year and keep working on our youth academy and we will all be happy.

Thanks for your understanding sentiments that sometimes fans get carried away and there is no point getting wound up by it, it's just excitement so let it go!

Cheers

Akinfenwa is a tank, you cannot say
he is a bad player when he was the

not got to Swindon anyway, because

GK- Federici RB-Cummings CB- Gorkks CB-Pearce LB- Clyne (he is naturally a RB) RM-Kebe CM-Karacan CM-Leigertwood LM-McAnuff CAM- Whittingham/ Sigurdsson(hopeful) ST-N'doye(Hopeful)/ Yakubu. We need to bring in 4-5 players in key positions and I am sure we will be safe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Matt Philips
Wilfred Zaha
are going to leave to sit on your bench, dont think so mate your in dream world.

Not many Prem clubs could guarantee Clyne, Philips and Zaha a guaranteed, immiediate first team place. Not sure Reading would spend the required amount for subs though.

Everyone on here are having a laugh at Pompey's expence. We'll remember all this when one of your clubs go tits up. I never ridiculed Leeds, Luton, Southampton or any other club that nearly went bust. While I respected your clubs and gave my support, I expect the same from you all. Jason Pearce went for £500k with a 20% sell on fee, which is good for us, while other may disagree. We won't be signing anyone anytime soon. Its good to be linked with players and, as Appleton has said himself, he has players waiting in the wings to see if we survive. All are on free transfers. I expect Ward, Varney and Kitson to go to Cotterill's Forrest for a comind fee of around £2m. Ashdown and Rocha to stay after talks with manager and administrator. Stop all this "pay up Pompey" crap now or I'll be the first in line to take the piss out of your club when s**t hit the fan! {Ed025's Note - i agree with you mate..

Believable5 Unbelievable0

For every Pompey fan who didn't ridicule Southampton there were 99 others who did. Some Saints fans are now just doing exactly the same as you propose doing in the future. I don't want to see Pompey liquidated but fail to see how Ed025 can attack Saints fans for doing what you propose to do. Smacks of double standards. {Ed025's Note - not double standards mate... common decency, why would anyone want to see a club go under?..any club?..it not only affects the players and their families, but also affects jobs in the local community....stop being a brat!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed what you are forgetting is that they have already affected jobs and small businesses in the area, have a look at the creditors list and all the small companies they owe money to, the list is endless..... {Ed025's Note - and so you think gloating about that is ok?..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed025 believe me if you think Saints fans are gloating you should have seen the Poopey fans when it looked like we were going under, compared to them we are being polite. {Ed025's Note - then both of you are idiots!

Agree0 Disagree0

Brat? Hey mum, are you Ed025? Agree with you except agreeing with the posters last sentence is double standards. 2 wrongs don't make a right. {Ed025's Note - i was agreeing with the "stop the pay up pompey crap", as im sure you realise, im not interested who started it...just that it stops!, it is very tedious, and childish and it makes you all look like idiots..

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel sorry for Portsmouth and it's fans - as a Leeds Fan I know its a hard road, especially when you get hit by relegation and clubs are buying your players for peanuts. Good luck with the future.
Oh and Ed025, there is only one club i definitely want to see go under and thats Galatasaray -they are a disgrace to the human race and are never welcome in Leeds - R.I.P. Speight and Loftus

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I don't choose to brag and be a C U Next Tuesday to pompey fans but I can understand why some Saints fans do. It's part of having rivalry and there will always be a percentage of fans from each club that are insensitive and go too far, it's unfortunately one of those things.

I would also argue that pompey should take heart from this situation. Being perfectly honest it's a good thing for your club you are hitting rock bottom - you can take this opportunity to clear your wage bill, your debt, restructure your club and build for a bright future. Look at Saints... it took us to hit rock bottom and go bust and start on a clean slate before we could fulfil our potential. Pompey can do exactly the same, just be patient and hopefully the right owner will come in for you and take you to better places.

Good luck.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

08 May 2012 10:46:18
I think people have a dig at Leicester as they have spent alot of money on very average players. As a Reading fan we were happy with 5m for Matt Mills who is now not even in the team.
To have spent that money you would have expected some return however you languished in mid table and couldn't string two wins together?
Reading hardly spent alot of money but have a great team spirit which has seen us with the title

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Stop licking your own backside mate. Reading have done well but this is a pointless, smug post.

I'm neutral and things didn't click for Leicester but they will be there or thereabouts next season - it's a marathon not a sprint and when you climb up the prem ladder then you can brag, for now you just put together a good run in the championship and grabbed promotion when no other team was really performing that well - the total points reflect it being one of the closest, non-dominant league wins of recent history.

Don't be so smug and cocky until you've established yourself in the prem, until then you could just go straight back down and languish in the champ and Leicester could easily go up next season and stay up with their level of investment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barnsley - George Boyd 750,000k but Peterborough United want at least 1mil for the attacking midfielder. The tykes are also chasing Wolves striker Leigh Griffiths possibly on loan til January but will try and tempt the relegated club in to selling the striker for 500,000k.

One day Barnsley fans will wake up and realise we've got no money and therefore will not make any signings on this level.
