Newcastle update :
Matt debuchy will sign from lille for fee of 6.5 million but not until after the european championships as lille are hoping to bump up his price tag if france do well.

Douglas is still a top target although his agent is trying to lure in other clubs and bump up his price tag by publishing rubbish, pardew, carver and cheif scout graeme carr have all watched him this season.However if that deal doesnt go through newcastle will look at deals for either mbiwa, kjaer, howedes or chedjou between 6 and 12 million.

Newcastle are also looking for midfeild cover with mulumbu from wba for around 6 million or diame on a free from wigan being linked with a move. Newcastle are also interested in ajax midfeilder seim de jong and dijons benjamin cognet for around 5 million each.

Newcastle are in talks with solomon kalou who is available on a free after being released by chelsea, kalou will train with newcastle over the summer before signing a 3 year deal

If demba ba leaves newcastle this summer (hopefuly not) then newcastle will target either luuk de jong from fc twente for a fee around 12 million or make a loan move for chelsea striker romelu lukaku.

Newcastle have already released danny guthrie, peter lovenkrands and alan smith this summer but the will also be looking to sell danny simpson who continues to refuse a new deal and leon best

the most likely answer to Yeovil centre-back worries is the sought-after Nathan Clarke (free agent)... and with Bondz N'Gala set for a potential move to Bristol Rovers, expect another defender to arrive... another likely arrival is Gary Liddle - also a free agent

2 Goalkeepers, 3 Defenders (1 loan), 4 Midfielders (1 loan), 2 Forwards (1 loan) to join before pre-season...

In.
Marriappa and connolly will be signed, with both providing cover for cummings at rb too.
Sean Morrison may be allowed to go back to huddersfield, but it is thought he will be kept.

A left back will be brought in, this may only be a loan signing though, it is thought arsenal may buy a left back in the summer, leaving a loan move for jenkinson or gibbs a possibility. (Mcdermott and hammond both have connections with the club)

Reading will play the same style (2 cdms and wingers) with carlos sanchez being brought in to provide another option in defensive midfield.
therefore if siggurdson does opt for reading, he will be played as a second striker.
as for wingers, McCleary, mcanuff, kebe and robson kanu will all stay, it is thought one more winger will be acquired, potentially tom ince or matt phillips from blackpool but antonio may be given the chance to fight for a spot instead.

with at least 3 strikers leaving, that area will be of key interest this summer. Long will not return.
Negotiations for sigurdason are ongoing, Bryn's been given a prominent role for next season and his presence is likely to help sway sigurdason.
Rhodes is still a potential target, but hammond and mcdermott are looking at a number of options.

With the euros coming up, the top eight club will (as per usual) be distracted by some of the talent coming through there(dzagoev, mcgeady, lewandowski etc...)
This will hopefully give Reading more of a chance of signing players such as Rhodes and Siggurdson, if the bigger clubs that are interested choose to go for continental options instead.

Celtic interested in Simon Cox

Sky Sports sources understand that Celtic have made an approach to sign West Bromwich Albion forward Simon Cox.

The 25-year-old joined the Baggies from Swindon Town in 2009, but he has struggled to command a regular starting spot during his time at The Hawthorns.

He started only seven games in the Premier League this season and stated last month that he would speak to the club about his future at the end of the campaign.

Capable of playing up front or on the wing, Cox is now understood to have attracted the interest of Celtic as the SPL champions look to bolster their squad.

Tony Pulis has promised a 'land mark' signing in central midfield to partner up with Palacios (who'll hopefully be fit this season and expected to make an impact). Tony Pulis has also promised a winger; not to replace Etherington or Pennant but to add competition for places (Jarvis is top of the list). At least 2 strikers (Owen and Lukaku seem most likely although a third might be on the cards as Sidibe seems unlikely to start again this season despite the contract extension). And I think every Stoke fan is crying out for a quality full back or 2, Brayford has been banded around on this site a lot, I think he'd be perfect for Stoke. The optimistic side of me also expects Pulis to change his 'style' of play to something more resembling entertainment given the minor squad re-vamp we will be expecting. Fingers crossed!

The reason why the England manager's job is so poisonous is that there are millions of people out there who know so much better than him. I believe Hodgson was perfectly entitled to leave Ferdinand behind. It is clear that Hodgson considers Terry, Cahill, Lescott and Jagielka to be better central defenders - and no-one doubts that Phil Jones is a better long term prospect. Why, then, take Ferdinand as fifth or sixth choice, when (hopefully, further injuries permitting) there is little chance of him betting a game? Better to take someone who might benefit more in the long term.

There has been no enquiry as to a possible takeover at Watford. Bassini has had no offers. Graham Taylor's departure is not a sign of things to come, either: he stepped in as chairman a couple of years ago when the club was in trouble, stating that it wasn't something he wanted to do long-term but was happy to stay until the club got back on its feet. Now that it is back on its feet, GT has effectively done what he said he was going to do.
