Ipswich Town are close to completing the signings of both Sean St Ledger from Leciester, and Paul Coutts from Preston.

A fee for Coutts has been agreed with Preston, somewhere in the region of 1million, and a loan deal, with a view to a permanent deal for St Ledger has been agreed, with the fee at 850k.

Both players look set to sign before Ipswich's next away game, a tough trip to Birmingham. Players have agreed personal terms and it is just down to them completing medicals, which should be taking place during Ipswich's game at Hull.

It is understood, that with Keith Andrews not to make his move permanent to ITFC, instead preffering a move to a Premier League team, that Ipswich will also go in for Paul Green of Derby.

With both Paul Green and Paul Coutts being central midfielders, this could also mean the end for Grant Leadbitter, with Ipswich prepared to accept in the region of 800k for the midfielder. Portsmouth and Birmingham are front runners for the sunderland born midfielder.

The signings of Coutts and St Ledger will be massive coups for Paul Jewell, with fans beginning to grown increasingly angry about no youth in the team.

Bamby did NOT say he would resign, if given no money! The only reason he hadn't committed himself is becasue he wanted commitment from others who are at the club. This has been resolved and he will be signing a permament contract over the weekend or on Monday. Now then, he has said he will take the role full time and has hung up his boots to commit himself fully to the role of manager. This is truth!

As for the Allams having no money let me reiterate what has been said earlier. Mr Allam is in the top 20 for the richest men in Britain. He has a personal fortune of 250 million. He has already bailed the club out to the tune of 48 million and needs to spend another 12 million to wipe out the agents fees and debts left behind by the former regime, who fleeced the club of it's premiership monies. The Allams have said they would back Barmby with funds for whatever player he feels is right for the club. The thing is my friends, we have been done over a few times just recently, when we should have buried the opposition. We are not really far off, having a team that will start bashing the opposition to peices. I think we have a real chance at automatic promotion and if not then definately the play offs. The only problem I see, is when the big boys come knockin for the likes of Chester and Rosenior who are quality premiership defenders. If we can hold on to our good players then there is no reason we cannot be back in the premiership next season if not the season after.UP THE TIGERS!!!!! BARMBY ARMY!!!

I can't believe this. I'm an Ipswich Town fan and i';ve heard a number of transfers before they have been made public in the past, and my source is telling me Paul Jewell is going to sell Aaron Cresswell to fund a move for Alan Smith. As if we don't have enough aging midfielders. Cresswell is our best player by a mile. Get on us for relegation lads, i've just had a ton on.

Leeds fans need to get off their high horse, keep calling themselves a bigger club than Norwich because of past deeds. Yes you reached the champions league semi final, have a bigger ground than them (although the average attendance is 3,000 lower than that of Norwich). But this does not make you a bigger club. A club should be judged on what they are currently doing, and they're doing better than you. If all you want to talk about is what you've done then notts county are a bigger club than juventus. Snodgrass may well go to them, may stay with you, may go somewhere else. Whatever happens Norwich are a bigger club as it stands. I'm a Swindon fan so have no bias in this.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

You Norwich lot are starting to get boring now just because you have 1 good half season you think your bigger and better then most please give it a rest you are and always will be a little team and to even say your bigger then Leeds well what can I say I'll just laugh like the rest of us are doing to you now go back to league 1 where you belong

Agree2 Disagree7

Bigger than Leeds? Course they are, you're a boring Championship team who can't pull a crowd. The rest of us premier league boys are laughing with Norwich at you.

Agree5 Disagree2

When were Leeds ever a big club? good one!

Agree3 Disagree1

Errr...Norwich clearly belong in the premier league. They're average attendance is 12th in the top flight, and including all leagues it's 14th in England. Only West Ham and Derby are better from outside the top flight. Go home Leeds, no one likes you.

Agree6 Disagree1

Haha, love all the support for Norwich. O.T.B.C.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds were a big club, they had Danny Mills...Alan Smith...Harry Kewell, all went on to do great things!

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's count how many times Norwich have won the top flight. Most Norwich fans should be able to count that far

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds are living in the past! "A big club" that's actually quite funny. Does the fact that Norwich are in the premiership and leeds in the championship not tell you anything?

assuming its true that lampard is fed up at chelsea and does want to go, what do u think his value is? remember hes 33 so i would say about £3-5m which is purely for his experience/winning mentality. in which case would u agree that gerrard is worth 2m again remembering that he is now injury prone with his best days behind him. also has avb really p*ss@d off the chelsea dressing room trying to teach old dogs new tricks?

Believable0 Unbelievable3

LOL ba is now one of the best strikers in the prem, the only reason why Newcastle signed him was becasue it was on a free. No one would have paid 9 mil based on the medical advice, however free transfer is good business. Ba would not be sold for anything less than 20 mil now fact. Newcastle took a gamble on a freebie and it paid off. Also, Stoke... dream on if he goes it will be to one of the top 4 clubs for more than stoke can afford.

-----------------------------------------------------
Sorry to disappoint, but nobody in the prem would pay £20m for Ba, due to his injuries, problems clubs face when trying to get insurance etc. If his agent or 'advisors' think that a top 4 club are intersted, don't underestimate the 'player power' involved, no club wants a disgruntled player. I think he will go to a bigger (sorry, higher placed club) than Newcastle but not for the sort of money mentioned. £10m tops.

we need Benitez back

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Benitez was goood for Liverpool but he wrecked Inter Milan and Kenny Dalgleish is doing a good job considering teams such as the two Manchester clubs and Spurs are in the league.

I've had it in good faith that Kaka is so sick of Madrid, thats he would even consider a move to Europa League hopefuls Man Utd! Not 100 per cent whether such a great player would stoop so low, but watch this space.....

Wales will play two friendlies, around the time that England play Norway and Belgium pre Euro 2012.

Wales will play Croatia (Cardiff City Stadium) and an away game v Republic of Ireland.

Scotland will play Hungary or Canada (at Hampden), and Northern Ireland will play Estonia at home and Denmark away.

Why dont you , while england are playing real football in a real comp, play each other again in the carling cup ? a least one really crap team can win something!!

Cos ROI palyed in the home nations dip stick. They took the place of England, who bottled the invitation to play again. After one of there worst world cups in recent memory. They could not risk losing, and dropping co efficiancy points. And I honestly think it was not a football decision,it was a political one.Westminster knows that the votes for the SNP grow, when Scotland beat England. And after the SNP white wash at the last election. They cant take any chances.Ally
