The administrator can't just 'get rid' of players - they need to be sold, transferred or agree to have their contracts cancelled.

And with players like Ben Haim remain on lengthy contracts (at £36 per week), there's not a snowball's chance of any of the above taking place.

I think the phrase is 'you reap what you sow'..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's below minimum wage but i wouldn't pay him any more either

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a hefty wage that

i know it can be edited but on adam claytons wiki it says he has joined portsmouth on a pre contract. its wierd coz it says after he was released by leeds where he hasnt been released hes been transfer listed. any news about this ed

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Clayton has not been released, he has 1 year left on his contract. leeds want him to sign a new deal but he is wanting £15,000 a week which would make him the highest paid player at leeds, ken bates wont pay that so instead of losing him for nothing next year we have put him up for sale. garyd MOT

Acually clayton wanted to stay n warnock dont want him

what new premoted teams dont understand there is a n told pecking order for players starting with the top
man city
man united
chelsea
arsenal
spurs
liverpool
qpr (if the stay up and because they pay stupid wages for adverage players)
newcastle
sunderland
everton
stoke
aston villa
wba
fulham
bolton (if they stay up )
norwich
swansea..
then all of the 3 that come up..the likes of southampton and reading will only get players if the above dont show a strong intrest .or they set out to buy some1 below the above scouting radar of the above teams .or do a QPR and offer them double wages then the other clubs and still end up fighting for there lifes .

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Your an person money talks if one of the lower team offers more and has certain clauses it can go any way club like reading and Southampton will have alot more money to spend then some other clubs in the lower half of the prem

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh yeah and which FA regulation does that come under or is it the rules of Footie Manager cos i don't play

Reading's takeover will be completed and announced by Wednesday at the latest.
Everyone saying 'it hasn't happened yet' will then be shut up. Following it's completion McDermott will be given £15-£20m at the most. Reading are NOT interested in Clyne, Zaha or N'Doye. They will sign Whittingham if Cardiff don't go up, as well as Bjorn Sigurdarsson. Then they will sign more players but we don't know who these are yet, they may include Marriapa, Sigurdsson (if no big club comes in for him. Hoffenheim want £8m so reading would only pay £6m because of their sell on fee), Butterfield, Davies and Cresswell.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Everyone saying it hasn't happend yet will shut up?... It hasn't happend yet has it is it official? No so they are right it hasn't happend yet. Also you will not sign sig from hoffenhiem ok get over it he's moved on you will not spend 10million on one player you have only just been promoted wake up please your deluded

Agree0 Disagree0

We dont have to pay 10m.... we have a clause

Saints fan here I think we'll need an understudy for Super Kelvin Davis - Courtois has been rumoured on loan, haven't heard much else.
Maybe a RB, as for me Butterfield or Richardson are not prem quality, Trippier and Gregory V.d.Wiel have been mentioned.
I like the CB partnership of Jos & Jose but for more experience saints may move for Scott Dann
Southampton seem to want another winger to take some creative pressure off Lallana, most likely Jarvis for 4m but also heard Snodgrass being considered.
Im happy with the CM's but were keeping an eye on Michu at Rayo Vallencano(not sure how to spell team) looks a decent attacking midfielder.
finally the Hooper rumour looks gone, could move for Rodriguez, however i would only see him as a spare for lambert.
The general criteria of saints signings are mid 20's and english throughout the team, with the odd un-heard of overseas player coming in.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

No one knows who we will sign but the Sharp rumour looked gone until it actually happened!

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right about the understudy for kelvin Davis people say we will get a new keeper need to realise kelvin is a fantastic keeper it's a shame his distribution can be shocking at times but he will be between the sticks next season no doubt.

Also agree with one experience c centre back to partner push jos and fonte

Also agree on the creative centre mid but maybe also a fighting midfielder to break up the play but I think if cork sits more in the holding role he he's about well and does this

Hooper won't happen, I'd put him on par with sharp very similar players also don't think we will get jay rod either but who knows

We need a pacey winger I would love Tom ince or Phillips depending of they go up or not but pace is what we need down the right hand side also think lallana might be better just behind the strikers

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a saints fan and if I am honest, I can only see 3 or maybe 4 of our current team being good enough for premier. I think we need :
Cover goal keeper
Cover left back - fox is ok but we have no cover
New right back
New centre back -fonte not good enough
2 x centre mid - Hammond and cork not good enough
Right wing - guly not good enough. Steve is a sub at best
Lambert will score 15 goals
Partner for lambert needed. Billy is a super sub
Adam will be fine.

Sounds harsh, but unfortunately I think it is true

Get cheque book open nige!

Agree0 Disagree0

We need another cm schniederlin and cork will be great players but we need a good experienced cm who can score goals

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a saints fan and i think it will be vary hard next season i think we will go down tho :(

Agree0 Disagree0

You have obviously never watch saints play you know nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

Saints wont go down next year ...
think mid table , like norwich .
anyway enjoy ..

maximus

Agree0 Disagree0

I think saints will be mid table next season a good side now and with a couple of additions will surprise a lot of people. No I'm not a saints fan

Agree0 Disagree0

G.V.d.Wiel get a grip.
Furthermore Ricky Lambert to score 15 is very optimistic.
Southampton will have to spend a considerable amount to stay up next year, but will probably end up lowermid table. good luck

liverpool lol
liverpool will never attract a player who is capable of playing for a higher placed better team and who could get into that team. suarez, carroll, henderson and downing are all perfect examples of this. suarez the exception and will be on his way to a bigger and successful club in the summer if he has any ambitions (like torres did), but the others have reached and found their level- mid table mediocrity.
suarez apart who else could get into a higher team,
man u, man c, arsenal, tott, newc, chels,.....no-one.
yes i'm afraid liverpool with king kenny will continue courting players from lower placed teams wigan, west brom, norwich etc, relegated clubs, championship clubs (shelvey) etc.
players like craig bellamy, not good enough for man c but good enough for liverpool.
and 2nd rate international foreign players maxi, lucas. agger, etc etc

another 10 more years in the wilderness. lol

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Totally agree that Liverpool are no longer a top 4 team. No one fears playing them anymore as a Sunderland fan I used to go to the match thinking we will lose now I think we can take all 3 points. If Liverpool want to return to glory they need a better manager Kenny just isn't a good manager. And second need to spend big on good players not 35mill for Carroll. Don't get me wrong I'd take Carroll to Sunderland but at max 10mill.

Agree0 Disagree0

'King' ,and I use that word reluctantly, Kenny has spent over 100 million pound since his return and Liverpool were the third highest spending club in the premier league 2011-2012. Taking into account the two teams that spent more are Chelsea, FA cup winners and champions league finalist, and Man City, odds on favourites to win the premier league illustrate how poorly Kenny has done in the transfer market. Now some may say Man City are an extreme example but just compare some of the transfers - Carroll Cost 35 million pounds, compared with Aguero 38 million. 20 million on Downing compared with 24 million on Nasri or Toure and David Silva for 25 million. Optimised how poorly Liverpool have been. I dont know how Liverpool fans cope watching their team line up with Downing, Shelvey, Spearing, Bellamy and be optomistic aabout finishing anywhere near the top four.

I would like to see Blackpool promoted via playoffs, as will have most to offer in premier league. Ian holloway is great value! As gaby Logan said, let the weight wait go on for big Sam ! Long ball numpties {Ed025's Note - either blackpool or brum for me...2 cracking managers..

Luke Shaw was thinking about Arsenal - i know this this via his best mate who lives in Hersham Surrey and also is a football family.

He probably wont leave now but was influenced by Oxlexy Chamberlyn - who was asked to talk to Saints players he thought were good. OCs dad had a lot of influence on his move to Arsenal and to be honest he was a better player than the saints could keep at the time.

Most rumours are started by agents and not by players - agents are the same as estate agents - they only really get a big pay off from a sale / transfer.

Saints will be fine next year and they wont buy all of the relegated players as has been speculated on this board - these are Agent rumours not real ones - this is their money period as the contracts expire 30 June so about 80% of what you read is b/s.

I love the fact that saints can create great players through their academy - look at their record 2 great players every year - Shearer - Phillips - Bale - Bridge - Walcott - OC - Lallana [welsh?] - Shaw maybe - etc ...

Keep the faith - Power to the people - Green {Ed025's Note - good post mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oxlade chamberlain came through the pompey ranks by the way

Agree0 Disagree0

Eh? He joined Saints academy at 7 and we gave him his professional debut at 16.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chambo jnr was born in skatesville while his pop was playin for the blue few.....much to the annoyance of his club, he could see how much better the set up was and sent his seven year son to saints......COYRs..

Agree0 Disagree0

He loves pompeys and didnt like playing for the saints :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah? Well it just goes to show there's somebody for everyone, even Pompey!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pompey had to let him go not because you had a better set up

Im a Southampton fan, and yes people are making us fans look stupid but when you say were a "little club punching above our weight" is wrong and disrespectful! The history the club has is properly greater the atleast a 1/3 of the other teams in the premier league! and also on the "Rumour" front I have heard that saints are looking Matt Jarvis, Wayne Hennessey and Birmingham's Chris Burke.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

History? youve won 1 cup

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's talking about 27 years in the top flight prior to 2005. Personnally, though, i'm glad to be seen as a 'little club punching above our weight'. The less people know of what's happenning at Southampton the better.

To set it straight most of these rumours about players going saints and reading etc, they aren't even from the fans more like random people who have nothing better to do than make up crap rumours !

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Banter page mate

Banter page for Skates to talk about there rival club. They have nothing positive to talk about there own club so they make up stupid rumours about Saints. Keep making them up Skates, i love the fact you are constantly thinking about us, Bless, how sweet, dont worry i am sure you will get some positive news soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Talking about about yer self again lol there is saints fans on the pompey news site always which is quite sweet lol
