doubt many of the fans slagging reading off on here are real football fans at all. chatting to away fans at our matches it seems along with a couple of other teams (like norwich) that we're very well respected. being linked with players doesn't mean people think they're necessarily coming, all our dealings are done behind closed doors (the reading way) so no1 really knows who might come in, that and our financial situation mean we've been linked with a lot of players, you all need to grow up

Believable4 Unbelievable4

All 3 clubs that have been promoted know that they need to add to their squads so there is a lot of media hype about who is coming and going.

Chambers situation.

He currently agreed to join us 2 weeks ago, and has even completed a medical today now he has become a free agent. Have been informed he does have an offer on the table from Forest which He would be more than happy to sign if Forest become the latest super oil rich club for obvious reasons. So basically he is stalling the deal himself or is agent simply for money reasons. Forest offered him 12k we have offered 15k with bonuses. He probably is aware if FAwaz al hasawi takes control of Forest he will earn double that. Time will tell.

Sly Spurts understands Burnley are poised to sign defender Jason Shackell from Derby County.

The Clarets are long-term admirers of the 28-year-old and are reported to have had at least two bids in the region of £1.2million already rejected by the Rams this summer.

Derby boss Nigel Clough has stated his desire to keep the former Norwich youngster, who only joined the club from Barnsley on a three-year deal last summer.

Shackell played every minute of the club's 49 games and ended the season captaining the side in the absence of the injured Shaun Barker.

Both Clough and chief executive Tom Glick have previously publicly denied rumours the club are under pressure to sell players this summer.

However, Clough has also admitted he would be prepared to sell the defender in order to fund deals elsewhere should the right offer come in.

That offer now appears to have been made and it seems the Rams are ready to cash in on their influential stopper.

FAO of my fellow Huddersfield Town fans and those of Reading FC. Please shut up about Jordan Rhodes!! Reading are interested we no, But no bid has been made. I no for a fact town are interested in ALF and sean Morrison, but again no firm bids have been made.
There seems to be some massive misunderstanding that we believe Jordan to be worth 8million! we dont 3-4million at best. However, We do not need to sell, we do not want to sell. Therefore we have to sell. Although as in all walks of life, money does talk.
Our fine chairman has openly admitted if a ridiculously high bid of 8m+ was made we would have to consider it, we'd be mad not to. The recent sale of J-Rod at Burnley to soton, has highlighted this point. Not worth 7m in a month of sundays, they didnt want to sell, but the crazy fee southampton were willing to pay forced there hand.
Jordan Rhodes is a highly intelligent young man, both his dad and uncle are ex-pros, and they will have both drummed into him that regular playing time and regular goals, aswell as a good football grounding, instead "get rich quick" moves will do his career more good than having his head turned by the 1st offer from newly promoted premiership club. If he bangs in 20-30 goals for us next season in the championship, he will have his pick of any club he wishes. If he goes to reading, struggles to settle, struggles to get game time, struggles for goals. Hell be another Jon Stead, flopping from club to club trying to find the form of old.
The kids 22 years old, he wont peak for another 3-4 years. He's got the time and talent to plan his own destiny, not some russian oligarch son, with a new toy. wish you well Reading, your a good club with mostly good fans, please to get too hyped, otherwse it could all go pompey!
But both town fans and reading fans, until a viable club source comment on this matter, pleases just shut up with all this garbage. Hes not worth 8million, but thats the price on his head!
End of rant!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

... still think he is signing for Reading at considerably less than £8 million .....

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more. Been a Reading fan for over 30yrs. It is nice to be linked to players. But all this with Jordan Rhodes is getting silly. Reading have and always will do their deals and complete them before announcing anything. Whatever happens with Jordan Rhodes, i wish him all the best and that both Reading and Huddersfield have seasons their fans can be proud of.

I am a Saints fan and moved to America 8 months ago, I wanna clear up some of the rumours posted on here about MLS players to English clubs: -

1) Brek Shea of FC Dallas is NOT a transfer target for Saints, His agent has been working hard putting his name about in England after training with Arsenal. FC Dallas currently lie bottom of the MLS Western League and Shea has not featured much this season due to suspension and injuries.

2) Fredy Montero of Seattle Sounders will NOT be leaving for Bristol City, his wage demand would be too high and he would cost in the region of $6.5 million (Dollars) transfer fee.

However, Fredy Montero has been linked twice with Dutch giants Ajax, firstly in August 2011 and again this summer. Whether this will happen, I don't know, but if he does leave the MLS it will be to a big club like Ajax where he can use this as a platform to the bigger clubs in European football. How many Squad members are you allowed ??? I think Reading feel they are about to sign Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield town........i doubt it but if you do, will he be your 100th signing this summer? haha! Can't wait for all the HTFC fans to wave at you Reading FC fans whilst they are leap frogging you into the Premier league!
Last but not least RFC fans pull your head out and recognise that HTFC have the most successful history, it doesn't have to be recent! UTT! BW

Believable2 Unbelievable6

History counts for nothing dont live in the pass whether rhodes goes or not you are happy with our cast offs get with today not the past

Agree1 Disagree0

Come on, UTT! READING are a club with a massive history: they won the LONDON CUP in 1941 & the SIMOD CUP in 1988, world beaters, LOL i mean how cud little old HUDDS TOWN compete wi that.? Where do we start.? AG

Agree0 Disagree3

Jog on, Huddersfield are absolute nobodies, always have been, always will be. And when they do lose Jordan Rhodes they are going straight back down to League One where they belong! Just a small town in Leeds!

Agree3 Disagree0

Lol history it's about the future and it's brighter at us than yours, your fans are just plain stupid, I'm sorry but if we were to make an offer for him and it was accepted then obviously he would join us because we would offer more money and also he would be in the premier league, geeze I'm not even that fussed about him, I don't think he's worth 8mill at all until he's proven at a higher level, but I can see why you rate him so high as we did with Shane long, and look what happened with him, he went to a below average premier league team and you think Rhodes wouldn't do the same? Even considering Reading have a much brighter future than west Brom... Rant over

Agree2 Disagree0

R u trying to say huddersfield r a bigger club than reading

Agree0 Disagree2

You're both small clubs but definitely wont be playing each other next season,as you will both be relegated, lol

Agree0 Disagree1

Reading fans need to have a look at the history books - huddersfield town have not always been nobodies! First team ever to win top flight, yeah it was 90 years ago but have Reading ever done that? Huddersfield also have an FA Cup to their name! Have reading ever won anything of note? A few promotions, 3rd n 4th tier mostly! Of course you have two promotions to the Premier league which Huddersfield do not have, fair enough but Reading fans just need to calm down, yeah you have money and i hope you stay up, i like the team but money does not guarantee survival. No real town fan thinks Rhodes is worth anywhere near 8mil but that (or something in that ballpark) is what the Owner wants, and since he alone is worth 150mil he aint likely to change his mind. As for Town 3 good signings so far this summer, strengthening in the right places, and despite what everyone expects i think we could pull off a few suprises next season. Dont get me wrong unlike some i do not think we will be doing back to back promotions, but as a good friend told me when we got promoted in May, we are now only one good season away from the promised land! JDA

Around League 2:
Oxford missed out on Sam Togwell who went to Chesterfield. Still hoping to wrap up a deal for Nicky Featherstone but face competition from Scunthorpe United as he favours a move closer to home. Bristol Rovers may also now be in the hunt for Featherstone if they can get Craig Stanley off the wage bill – both Aldershot and Luton are interested, but the player is reportedly unwilling to drop out of the League so Aldershot are more likely destination.
After losing Luke Summerfield to Shrewsbury, Cheltenham are interested in moving for Swindon's Jonathan Smith. However, wages may be a stumbling block – therefore a loan with Swindon covering the majority of the wages may be the best option all-round.
Cheltenham are also still after a right-back as cover, but it won't now be Jack Byrne from Kidderminster whose wage demands are rumoured to be too high.
Port Vale are interested in Dean Smalley of Oxford who would like to return North. Oxford are only interested if they can secure a direct replacement so it is unlikely to happen.

Everton have the potential to be a champ league side. We have baines consistently the best lb in the prem last few seasons. Felliani one of the best dm in the world, jelavic potential to be great. One of the best back fours excluding rb where we need to strengthen. If we sign pianarr one of the best left sides in the prem. People need to get off rod wells back he is only 21 and has plenty of time to show form we must not sell him. Gibson is quality with his safe passing he makes the team tick and compliments felaini. Right mid we need to strengthen Coleman or osman can do the job though. News of Naismith joining looks promising. If he is fit and can find form with his old team mate jelavic we could have a very formidable attacking lineup, with a few additions we can do it come on bill we know you want the best for the club and you love the club as much as we do so give davie a few mill and we will be flying, cheers. Todays papers claim that Liverpool are interested in Demba Ba of Newcastle for the 7m release clause. That only applies to champions league teams or teams out of the uk. Why would he join a mid table team?

Matt Ritchie is having a medical at Reading

Believable0 Unbelievable3

He's in Italy training on the Swindon tour, not in Reading ! You must be muddling him up with Jordon Rhodes, who was at the Finchampstead training ground this morning.

What goes around comes around ... just noticing Reading are as possessive about Adam le Fondre and a valuation as Huddersfield are about Jordan Rhodes.
To be honest neither are tested as Premiership players although le Fondre has made a huge impact on the Championship, so deja vu Huddersfield and Reading fans

I am a Reading supporter and have been for a few years now (my first season as a Reading supporter was in the old Division 4, so that will give you some indication as to how long ago that was).
All this banter between Reading and Huddersfield supporters I find amusing. In those early days it was Huddersfield in Division 2 and Reading in Division 3, and I remember an atmospheric match in an FA Cup 3rd Round replay at Elm Park when the PA system and stand lighting (not floodlights) failed during the second half when the scores were 1-1 and the game went into extra time. Great nights.
I must say that I do not think Jordan Rhodes will be joining Reading but I also think he will be leaving Huddersfield, and not for the £8 million that they apparently want for him. Jordan Rhodes is now aware that he can earn £30000 to £40000 a week as a Premiership player and money does talk, and he will either leave to play in the Premiership for better money than he can get in Huddersfield, or he will struggle in the Championship because all of the rumours about him leaving will have unsettled him. This is only my opinion but I think he will do okay in the Premiership but maybe not as good as HTFC supporters would like to think he would - maybe 10 or 11 goals at tops, which is not a bad return but not the world class striker they like to think he is

Just a couple of points, about the 1st post. wen a striker has scored over 40 goals for yor team in a season that makes him "world class" to us, it doesnt matter if he's worth 8p or 8mill most town fans want JORDAN to stay. U suggest jord has "now" realised how much money he can earn, i suggest havin a dad who was a pro footballer & who is now jord's agent, he will be well aware of how much money he cud earn. lastly, most of last season there were rumours surounding jord, so how did he deal with it ? he just kept putting the ball in the net.! U dont seem to hav much faith in the MENTAL strenght of a player yor club seem to want to buy. AG
