Manchester united look set to sign Sanchez as Barcelona tie up cesc deal. Manchester united have offered 28m upfront unlike barcelonas 24m and 10m extra resting on weather Sanchez plays 50% of barcelonas games over the next 3 years. Barcelona will not budge on their offer as the can't afford to pay any more due to the high price of cesc

Ex Manchester United star Paul Scholes is carefully considering a contract offer from League 2 side Shrewsbury Town. The former spring chicken has been quoted as saying he would be more than happy to take a £110,000 a week paycut in order to carry on playing the beautiful game. His desire to move into a coaching role has been well documented and the self confessed Shrewsbury Town fan sees this as an ideal opportunity to kick-start his career as a coach. When Shrewsbury came calling he knew it was the only club that could tempt him out of retirement, as he has many fond memories of watching his heroes from the Gay Meadow terraces throughout the eighties.

Wigan have joined the hunt for AZ Alkmaar and Danish international Simon Poulson after the player expressed his wish to play in England.AZ have recieved an offer from a Championship side and are negotiating terms, but Wigans premiership status could well be in our favour.Talks taking place.

Why would he want to go to Wigan if he has a chance to come to Ashton Gate? Keep your hands off we saw him first

Why would fox leave a starting place in a play off challenging team to go to a bottom half table side and a club he left in the first place. We payed 1.5m and his value has increased since, and i know Coventry wont pay upwards of 2m for a LB

And how is naming the players which 'your fellow fan' forgot about being 'cocky'? Also the 1 million Leicester have spent (Peltier, Kasper and Danns in and Hobbs out) Is the same as what QPR spent this time last year on Taarabt. 3 players for the price of one?"

I note that you haven't accepted the bet lolol oh, btw Taarabdt is 10 times better than that poor lot together. A little birdie tells me that CMS has turned Leicester down in favour of QPR Pity really - we can attract much better players than that. Good luck in yr relegation dogfight

Potentially 40m yes but realistically 4 out of those 5 are surplus to requirements and if fergie can get them off the wage bill and free up some cash i am sure he would do it. Welbeck is the only one fergie would most likely not want to sell but 12m for oshea, brown and gibson would leave 15m for Anderson and Welbeck lets say 10m for welbeck and 5m for anderson seems like a reasonable deal to me if it came off and we all know sunderland like to do multi-deals so who knows.

If we were ever serious about Gervinho (Which I doubt) shuld we not try and sign him. There seems to be a lot of un rest at Arsenal his preferred club (although I understand they haven't agreed a price for him yet) with possibly Nasri, Fabrigas, Clichy, Arshavin and Walcott leaving. We need a right sided player and would prefer him to N'zogbia who I think is more left sided and we have plenty of those with Ben Arfa, Marvereaux and Gutirez. Still concerned we don't seem to be pushing the boat out to get a decent striker. Ba may come good but ? on his injury record which leaves us with Ameobi (god help us).

Shock news story:

RIO WANTS LEEDS MOVE

Manchester United stalwart, Rio Ferdinand today expressed his intentions to finish his career with Leeds United.

Ferdinand shocked the world when he signed for Man Utd from Leeds for a British record transfer fee of £30m in 2002 and admits that he misses the special atmosphere at Elland Road.

Leeds manager Simon Grayson is said to be keen on Ferdinand, who may be frozen out at Man Utd, with stiff competition for the centre back role from Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and new signing, Phil Jones.

Sir Alex Ferguson may allow Rio to go back to Leeds to ease the ever growing wage bill at Man Utd and Rio last night said "It would be a dream to play for Leeds again, and under a great tactician such as (Simon) Grayson." He went on to say, "I have had a great time at Man Utd, but you feel you know when your time is up.

Peckham born Ferdinand who started his career with West Ham, will turn 33 this year and has struggled through injury during the last couple of years of his career. Amongst his achievements, he has won five Premier League titles and one Champions League title.

It is believed Ferdinand would agree to a huge pay cut to join the club he grew so fond of, which will see him earn around £20,000 a week. Grayson is also lining up deals to bring Alan Smith, Lee Bowyer and Jonathan Woodgate back to Elland Road in a bid to gain automatic promotion from the npower Championship.

Have your say;

I've not been on here for a couple of days due to work and is it just me or has this still a rumour site of a lets slag stoke off site? It becomes a bit tedious after a while. Arsenal had a worse disciplinary than us and so did (among others) Man City Newcastle and SUNDERLAND, so i think we should have a look at this in context. How can we be classed as a "dirty long ball team"?? We play with effectively 4 forward thinking players, we scored more goals in our last 10 games than most in the premierleague. We have 3 players that could easily get into the england squad if they played for a more desirable club, we stuffed arsenal by playing them off the park ( not pushing them off the park or bullying them off the ball ) we beat liverpool we won 5-0 at wembley. We are not lng ball we are direct, there is a difference people call it boring but i find arsenal boring... pass, pass, pass with no end product, how can keeping the ball on the halfway line be entertaining?

We have a well run club with passionate fans and a manager/board that actually care for the club and not their bank balances, we have a squad that wants to play for stoke not play for £100,000 a week And because of that we haven't got the best players in the world granted but we have got a mighty strong team and if you have got that then you're not going to go far wrong. So other teams can go spemding millions and over the odds wages to get a self centered pre-madonna and we will go about our business quietly and keep improving year on year like we have been doing, and i look forward to seeing you all at the Brit this season.

*You mean the league one goal scorer who rejected QPR? And I think your forgetting about the signings of Bradley Orr for a few 100k? Rob Hulse for over a million? And Tommy Smith for over 1.5 million? And whose that other one? Oh yeah Adel Taarabt for over a million, Some QPR fan if you forget about your best player lol."

It would seem a fellow fan has forgotten some purchases. I listed the signings previously £5.35m in 14 MONTHS NOT one a la Leicester ... In response to the Briatorre quote - we've only sold 5,000 season tickets (if that's true) because the board hiked the prices up 60% The board included Ecclestone and Briatore. Bhatia (Mittal's son in law) resigned from the board because of this - they own 30% and are hoping to buy out the others. This WILL happen, becuase Mittal is the 2nd richest guy on the planet, and he will do anything to rid QPR of the poorl dwarf that Ecclestone is. Warock has a budget in the region of 20 - 25m. Signing 4 or 5 the next 2 weeks ... It's the "desperate" sides that have made over-inflated buys so far: Liverpool, Newcastle, Norwich, Sunderland and Wolves - Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City etc haven't bought one player yet WHY should Warnock buy at such an early stage, it's not as if he has missed a bargain Leicester won't even make the play-offs, I will wager any amount you care to offer - I'll even give you 6/4 they aren't in the top 6. C'mon cocky boy - put your money where your mouth is I'll have another wager you don't... My email is included so that one of the ed's can let you know it ..... Either have the bet or go back to your Leicester slum site

i love how mk dons still seem to beleive that they are still better than peterborough. with or without baldock you are not getting out of league one any time soon, frankly he is not good enough, neither is the rest of your squad, 1.2million for him would have been a ridiculous waste of money, posh have dodged a bullet with that one.

also, yes Fry and co (mostly fry) have used dubious tactics in the transfer market this summer, and so far have largly failed. so where are the great mk dons transfer policies, releasing o'hanlon a top centre back, and losing leven on a free, signing yeovils finest, do me a favour the posh have a far better future than the franchise, the franchise that has run out of hard cash, with gates lowering after the novelty of a football club in mk wears off into realisation that mid-table league1 isnt all that exiting.

and to set the record straight baldock stayed at dons as he is from mk and so is loyal to the club, any other player would have realised a move away to posh would be a step furthing his career, he did not leave because dons have a better future

Update on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain situation:

Alex signed a three-year-deal with Saints at the start of last season because of Southampton's confidence that Alex will reach his potential.

But, what Southampton didn't tell you is that Oxlade-Chamberlain contract at Southampton has buy-out clause of £15million.

Nigel Adkins confirmed in a press conference on friday that Southampton haven't recieved any concrete bids on the table for Chamberlain so far this transfer window but he expects this to change very soon with Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal all rumoured to be interested in the 17 year old.

But the teams will have to meet Southampton's asking price to even talk to Chamberlain who has said that he would be happy to stay at Saints._WRE.SFC_

Leeds in deep discussions with;

Lee Camp
Jonathan Woodgate
Luke Chambers
Lewis McGugan
Wayne Routledge
Paul Konchesky
Aaron Ramsay

Other massive purchases would include

Nicky Maynard
Craig Mackail-Smith
Shaun Wright-Phillips
Jack Cork
Danny Graham
Alex Smithies

Grayson also cooled his interest in Alan Smith from Newcastle, as he is looking to sign Leon Best, James Perch and Jose Enrique.

250% true. I wouldn't say we weren't getting Smith if it was a lie.
