why the hell didnt wenger put in a decent offer for joel campbell. he looks like he could do the business. if we bid 2m we would surely have got him. i know hes kind of unproven but definetly worth the risk. looks like another that got away. we'l see him sign and flourish for some1 else his transfer fee will soar.

Martin Paterson is set to turn down a deal at Portsmouth after he learnt that Burnley have accepted a bid from Derby. Paterson is keen ot stay at Northern as he can and is happy to move to Derby, with him reportedly saying 'the ambition of Nigel Clough amazes me'. Paterson will be worth around £1.2 million.

Why would burnley accept an offer almost half of pompey's? No chance

Evening (Ed). Have you got any news on Swansea City signing anyone? Im starting to lose patience with it all now. So many names being mentioned but there seems to be no movement at all. Everybody else are making signings and we just seem to be reeling off numerous names but nothing comes of it. Why are these transfers dragging on for so long Ed? Also any news on players leaving us. Cheers Ed and keep up the good work.

Liverpool Have contacted atletico madrid over the possibilty of signing sergio aguero a deal has been struck 45m and he has agreed to take a 20 000 pay cut also coming before the deadline is aly cissokho, adam johnson, scott dann, and alex chamberlin

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Liverpool to sign aguero for how much ? firstly aguero would only join a team in the champions league and secondly its well known that liverpool have to sell before they buy and thirdly even then liverpool would struggle to meet the transfer fee or wage demands needed.

Unlike many here I do not have either a crystal ball or a friend who works at any football club. But I would guess the following predictions (or call them anti predictions) are correct in repsect to a few of todays wild guesses and optimistic dreams -
1. 'Liverpool Have contacted atletico madrid over the possibilty of signing sergio aguero' - hmm somehow doubt they a. have the money nor b. the vague ability to compete with City where he could well end up.
2. 'Arjen Robben is close to signing for Tottenham Hotspur.' - that's obviously correct and he'll take the wage cut he will have to becuase of Spurs strict salary cap - why exactly? A dream no more.
3. 'Man City are going to part ex Carlos Tevez for Wesley Sneijder and 10m' - Sneijder's wife has been pretty clear she doesn't see Manchester for her and Tevez has been pretty clear he wants to be nearer his children - Spain at a push maybe - so no go on this little fantasy swap.
4. 'Arsenal are set to spend 18 milllion on jagielka and 18 million on gary cahill' - nurse the screens please Arsene has clearly gone mad or been replaced by an impostor. I've said it once and I'll say it again Arsenal will not spend £16m plus, and certainly not £36m on two english defenders.
5. And finally the two standard deluded Leicester and Brighton submissions -
'Brighton are to announce the Owen Hargreaves signing is today with Steed Malbranque ' and
'I am in close contact with leicester city and i have been hearing tht sven is doing his upmost to sign adel taarabt. the deal is set to be around 12 million'
Whatever the Brighton and Leicester fans here are on please send me a bottle of it and I could happily be living in cloud cuckoo land too.

Malaga have made a £12m bid for Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles. Malaga have already signed Jeremy Toulalon, Ruud Van Nistleroy, Julio Baptista, Sergio Asenjo and Martin Demicheles among others this summer.Malaga narrowly avoided relegation last year but are widely tipped to challenge for Champions League qualification this coming season.

-------------

in reply to this it would not surprise me if they did bid £12m for meireles however a couple of statements are not quite true. Malaga finished 11th way off relegation and baptista and demicheles were bought in the previous transfer window. I do agree that they are trying to push for europe though.

leicester in my opinion have by far the best team in the championship and could be 10 points clear by christmas

thats why you had to buy a new team?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Umm, i think he means 'since we bought a new team' personally Sherlock.

However, as a Leicester fan i have to disagree. Anyone writing off West Ham is a mug. It'll be a tough league to get out of next season for sure, some very good sides lurking in there and i doubt anyone will be 10pts clear by Christmas.

Leicester have a solid side, they (we) won't be easy to beat but all those new bodies are going to take time to gel and i think that'll slow us down initially. Let's be honest, i'd be delighted with 2nd place but i'd still be happy with the playoffs.

I heard a rumour from a reliable source that Brighton fans are getting above their station and may come back down to earth with a bump by about Christmas time when they realise the depression that is a long, unpredictable season battling it out in the middle of the Championship. Also, a further source commented that Southampton are not Man City. To be confirmed. Finally, I heard on the radio that, if they do not get promoted this season, Leicester City will financially implode as all the rats flee the sinking ship. {Ed025's Note - do you really like football...or just moaning?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I like football, but my Club has precisely nothing to spend and are set for a long hard season in the Championship. Brighton fans signing Malbranque / Hargreaves / Pele, Soton fans signing Maynard / Maradona / Gascoigne, Leicester fans signing Beckham / Huth / Eusebio... It makes this site a little tiresome; I am almost tempted to get back to work.

And, by the way, wind your neck in, Ed.. It is a paragraph on 'Football Banter', designed to wind up the overly impetuous fans of the self-appointed biggest teams in the CCC. These cheeky upstarts are making the usual windbags lose their voice (Forest, Blues, etc.)

And they havent got an ethical buisness that makes a reasonable profit to pay players more than 20k a week. They would be in the championship getting beat by the likes of blackpool and birmingham city.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Getting beaten by Blackpool is going over the top.

Agree0 Disagree0

Take on board the fact that the grounds alone are 2 of the biggest in Britain(holding 60k & 50k), and they both fill them week in week out against little pub-teams, imagine how much more money they'd both have to compete. Bigger fan bases than 75% of EPL teams by a distance.

Maybe not Top 10 first season but would defo stay up and build from there. If people will join Newcastle/Sunderland for money they'd defo join Celtic/Rangers (not pickin on them just meant location etc....).

Plus it'll never happen cos of teams in bottom half of EPL being scared of getting pushed out to make room.

Ed, the reason everyone is having a pop at Brighton fans is because there are a few idiots with nothing better to do than make up ridiculous stories and post them on this site. Berbatov to Brighton? Totally laughable. I am a season ticket holder and am completely delighted with what's happened to our club in the past 18 months - we have a side playing passing football that strolled League One last season, a top young manager and a beautiful new ground that has been built without putting the club into debt. We have strengthened the squad with some good signings and the capture of CMS was a coup for a club of our size. But proper Brighton fans know we just need to consolidate this season and are in no way considering ourselves to be either a big club or promotion material. We do however have guaranteed home gates of 20,000 next year due to advance season ticket sales so can afford a few half decent new faces. After the 12 years Brighton fans have just suffered real fans shouldn't begrudge us being very happy with our current lot - just please don't think we are all like the few arrogant idiots who think we are the next Man City - We don't. {Ed025's Note - thanks a lot for this post...its nice to see that most of your fans are happy...but realistic...i am the everton ed..so totally impartial, i am just happy to see a success story, i think most people are....so good luck for the coming season..

Believable1 Unbelievable1

As Ed said what a great post I am a mad Brighton fan, and am mega excited about this season, it was always said that more players will be attracted to Brighton once they got their own ground, so why should'nt we dream, maybe the god that is Gus Poyet does have contacts and people want to play for him, knowing his style of football, so who knows who we could get By the way before I get shot down about how they can't afford it, our chairman came out and said that he could easily pay off Man United's debt, and still have money left, so don't talk about what you don't know {Ed025's Note - can you ask him to lend everton a few bob?...lol

As a forest fan I have to admit I'm disappointed (but not surprised) by the lack of new faces at the city ground so far this summer when I see clubs like our supposed rivals leicester seemingly buying up the entire transfer market. However, after watching the excellent recent dispatches documentry about club ownership I have to say that I'm extremely glad that our chairman isn't a shady thai businessman who's intentions are clearly to gain promotion rapidly, pocketing the TV revenues estimated at 100 million pounds and selling the club on. So leicester fans... shut up

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Typical--believe what you want to believe but the Leicester owners are here to stay. Shady Thai business men they are not. Perhaps if you knew a little more about the investments they are making in the training ground and stadium you would understand why the majority of Leicester fans think they are the best thing to happen to our club for a mighty long time.
