Im a huddersfield fan, and i am slightly worried by some of our unrealistic and slightly naive fans, some may call them stupid but i just like to think there 14 year old key board warriors who play too much football manager.
This rant is linked to the whole Charlie Austin rumour. He wouldnt sign for town why would he, we're similar stature to Burnley in regards to stadium size, fan base etc, and he would gain nothing from joining us. He is now THE main man at burnley, now J-Rod has gone.
HOWEVER i no the source of this 2+2=5 rumour.Town have approached Burnley with regards to a striker, but sadly it isnt Austin. From what ive heards its Martin Paterson. Im guessing with the emergence of Austin and Danny Ings on the first team last season plus the link to the lad from bristol city (pitmann?) coupled with his poor injury record, Town belive he could be available for a reasonable fee. He's got a good record in the championship when fit, and has the experience without being too old

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Yes, it is Paterson who interests Town...Portsmouth bid £2 million last summer but Burnley turned it down. They would sell him for half that now because of his injury record.

Not a rumour, but can Nawich just do one. I'm sick and tired of them always going for Leeds players especially our captains whilst we get their over-the-hill cast offs. Mr warnock... DO NOT sell Snoddy, he is pivotal to our team and he is captain. If you must like you promised sell him in January if we look like we aren't going up. It's the last straw for me if my favourite player gets sold. Leeds need to make a stand against these vultures. Mot

Believable3 Unbelievable1

As a Norwich fan i understand how annoying this must be for you. But if your board go ahead and appoint Warrnock he's going to just buy back players which he's used before. He's not a good manager, he sticks to what he knows and doesn't explore new talents and areas.

Agree1 Disagree1

Norwich are not vultures...they are budgies. When Leeds have billions to spend with the Arab takeover we will buy all our players back....so there:)

Crystal Palace and Leeds have finally come to an agreement on the transfer fee of Ross McCormack at £850 + a hefty promotion add on. This has happened this afternoon following Ross rejecting a contract at Brighton, where he would have made way for Brighton's Mackail Smith.

Also at the palace training ground today was George Boyd who has been given permission by P'boro to talk to Palace and as a lifelong Palace fan it is anticipated that he will sign.

Baxter has agreed a contract with Palace in principle and the deal is in place. However, Dougie wants to spend a bit of time with the player before committing to the deal.

Puncheon will also sign for Palace if they can agree terms as Palace have accepted Puncheon + £1.5million in compensation for Nat Clyne.

Despite reports, Ramage will not be signing a deal for Palace. He is just training with them at the moment but both clubs will assess the situation should Ramage not have a club come the beginning of the season.

Sone Aluko has also been in talks but has gone back to Glasgow to sort a few things out first. Just to be clear on this one - no contract has been signed and there's every chance that he will go and sign for another clubs - he's not short of his admirers.

The timescale is unclear but from what I've heard it's not unlikely that a triple announcement of Ross Mac, Boyd and Puncheon could sign tomorrow. Aluko is due to return to London to have further discussions with Palace on Thursday and Dougie will make a decision on Baxter next week after Baxter returns to Beckenham.

If all these players are signed, then Dougie will only be in the market for one more signing - a first choice CB (which is why Ramage won't sign yet as Dougie does not see him as first choice). Palace are in very, very early talks with Ben Haim (don't think its gone past a phone call yet).

Whats the point in being in a league that your just going to avoid relegation? We should fight for a place higher up in the table! Personally, QPR, West Ham and Reading will get relegated, and i know for fact we will definitely finish anywhere near them, we need to show teams early on that we are not to be underestimated. We have the young squad this team needs, all the youngLADS will want to make a name for themselves, should be a comfortable season. {Ed013's Note - Who are you talking about?}

My sources.....

Crystal Palace and Huddersfield have BOTH spoken to Ross McCormack and BOTH had bids accepted for the player and it is believed that he still has a decision to make but he still has time to do so as Ken Bates is stalling the deal due to a proposed Leeds takeover. No exact fee is known but the bids are believed to be in the region of £750k - £1Mill

Tshabalala is set to be offered yet another trial at the South-London club after impressing in his last trial last summer and is Douggie Freedman's type of player.

George Boyd will be given an ultimatum (being to sign a new deal or be sold) by the Peterborough board amid interest from Crystal Palace who are seeking a replacement for Darren Ambrose and The Eagles are willing to worth up to £750k for the midfielder who is valued at £1Mill plus by his current club.

Stephen Dobbie is believed to have a choice of four clubs who are after his services and these are believed to be Crystal Palace, Cardiff City, Watford and Bolton Wanderers

Recently released Akos Buszaky has is also wanted hugely by the three London rivals of Millwall, Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic.

Finally, Manchester City are prepared to bid £30Mill for Athletic ace Falcao who did cost the Madrid based club a fee in the region of £38Mill but Mancini is keen to take advantage of the worrying financial situation of Athletico Madrid

Believable0 Unbelievable3

I dont think mccormack will come to palace, nor will any other of the players mentioned.

Out: Sidwell (Brighton) or Etuhu (not both), S Davies (West Brom), Baird (Soton), Dempsey (Roma)
Ins: Chadli (Twente), Berbatov (Man Utd), Adam (Liverpool if Demps goes to Liverpool)
Jol wants another defender in if Baird goes and is looking at Gunter (N Forest), Buttner (Vitesse) still interest but probably he is probably going to Soton. Carroll (Liverpool) deal is unlikely as Liverpool want to use Adam as make weight if deal goes ahead for Dempsey. Expect a few surprises in the next three weeks. Definitely a few big names to arrive at Fulham.

A lot of activity is currently going on behind the scenes including a couple of possible shock departures, a premiership team have made a double bid for Buckley and Bridcutt and Leeds are interested in CMS. Brighton are negotiating with Millwall regards Liam Trotter. Brighton have given up on Simon Cox and their next target is Nathan Eccleston from Liverpool, lots of competition including Birmingham, Blackpool and Burnley. Brighton are also interested in a young German striker but that will be one for the future and finally the gem they have been lining up is Fabian Delph, initially they were looking at a potential loan deal but a permanent deal is not being ruled out although Brighton would have to break their transfer record.

Charlie Austin would cost Huddersfield a smiliar figure to what they will get for Rhodes and what Burnley got for Jay Rodriguez. With one year left on his deal, Rodriguez was sold for 7m after scoring 21 goals. Charlie is the same age and scored 17 last season even though he missed 2 months with a dislocated shoulder. Town fans will point to the amount of goals Rhodes scored but he is not proven at this level. If fit Charlie gets you 20 goals a season. If you want to invest the the full Rhodes fee back into one player you'd get him but wheres the logic in that ?

Burnley always make good buisness out of their strikers. Rodriguez - 7m, Steven Fletcher 6.5m ... Charlie is a natural goalscorer and would cost a minimum of 5m.
