Some players the Swans are interested in - to varying degrees:-

Joe Allen - the obvious one and the latest I've heard from an insider is that this is the signing the new owners want to unveil when they finally ratify their ownership. They believe bringing Joe back is the signing to signal the start of their 'era'. They will not however pay £15m for him. Bid of £8m has been rejected and Swans are hopeful of a £12m bid being accepted. The feeling is that the deal could have been done for 8 had they completed it before the Euros.

Next is Bony, Swansea have explored writing off the money owed by Man City but City will use him to get Stones.

Haller of Utrecht is of interest. A young, strong and packet striker who have been scouted previously but is now under strong consideration. Bid to be made. €8m with add ons.

Valencia and Sakho are both being considered from West Ham. Lots of ifs and buts re: these 2 as West Ham really want to make a superstar striker signing which has left all their strikers including Carroll disillusioned. Valencia is furthest along as Sakho has heart set on working with Big Sam but that will be up in the air if he takes over England. Lots need to be resolved before any progress is made. West Ham making their signing for starters as they are struggling to attract that big name and will not sell until they do.

Zaza from Juve has been priced out of a move - Guidolin really wanted him. His teammate Pererya is still under consideration.

Hal Robson Kanu is weighing up a bid from Hull but it is believed he would have preferred to come here but Swans never pursued him.

With a week to go of the transfer window, he latest names linked with the Swans are follows:-

Sandro Ramirez of Barca, Spurs heavily linked, so are Newcastle, has a €12m clause that would need to be activated. Is is nothing more than a rumour currently as I have not heard anything concrete.

Gregoire Defrel of Sassuolo is a player that the Swans were not interested in until the appointment of Guidolin. It is a player he has scouted extensively while in his role at Watford and Udinese. The interest has remained with him so is a name he has suggested.

Balde Keita of Lazio is seen as a player who could inject much needed cutting edge from out wide as the team has lacked real width for a while. Bid has been made, been rejected, waiting to see if another will be made.

Scott Sinclair, bid has been made, Aston Villa are waiting to see if Newcastle are going to follow up their enquiry with a bid to get as much as they can by starting a mini bidding war.

Seydou Doumbia of Roma, all interest in him appears to be over now as Guidolin has concerns over how he would adapt to England after failing so badly in Italy.

Jordan Rhodes of Blackburn is of interest but not at the £12m asking price, possibly a deal with Eder is the answer but again nothing substantial to report.

Ravel Morrison of Lazio is of interest to Bournemouth and Swans, but no enquiry has been made by the Swans, he is on their list of targets however.

Ogenyi Onazi of Lazio is a target, is available and well liked by Guidolin, and wants a move to England. The problem is that Swans hierarchy are aware this is not the key area that needs strengthening as Cork and Britton are both in form. This is shame as if the other areas had been strengthened earlier then this is the type of deal that could be completed promptly.

Dwight Gayle is under consideration but Palace will only consider a swap for Gomis.

Guidolin has assessed the squad since the Watford game and all the murmurs from within the club is that they will try and be active in the final week of the window.

Guidolin is looking to implement his 3-5-1-1 formation in his first home game.

It's Everton today and we need someone to put the ball in the back of the net. Guidolin has only been in the Club a week mate and lads are struggling to get there heads around the new formation. So probably only change being Gomis back in.

They've tried to get all their old players back on loan, but the priority is a striker. Duvan Zapata the latest being discussed.

2.) 24 Jan 2016 13:10:54
I didn't say today's game was the home game. I said Guidolin will implement his style and formation in his first home game, as the Everton game came too soon to implement them.

3.) 24 Jan 2016 13:20:55
Further to my reply, I don't understand any point you're making?

The players are not struggling with the new formation, as it hasn't been overly used in training yet.

We need someone to put the ball in the net - that's why most of what I'm hearing is for offensive players, as my post highlights. So kind of a moot point from you there.

We tried to get De Guzman back on loan, enquired about Allen and have bid for Sinclair. We hold an interest in Borini but I feel that is just as much to counter Fat Sam trying to unsettle Ayew as it is an actual interest.

Priority is a striker, and it won't be Zapata.

Defrel never worked at Watford, only Udinese under the Pozzos.

5.) 24 Jan 2016 17:46:31
Defrel is a striker at Sassuolo, I was referring to Guidolin, he was a consultant at Watford and some sort of Director of Football role at Udinese after taking a break from management.

Seydou Doumbia, Jonathan De Guzman and Dwight Gayle are emerging as Swansea's offensive targets for January. There have been serious talks re: Andre Gray, with no deal possible in Jan but will certainly be revisited in the Summer.

In terms of outgoings, as my previous post stated - Swansea hope to bring in around £20-£22m for Gomis and Shelvey. £12m has already been received for the latter and the former has an approx buyout clause of 8m.

Gray and Gayle will do well in the Championship next season. Good to see the club are already planning for the inevitable!

10 Jan 2016 20:09:41
Prompted by the defeat to Oxford and the need to strengthen in key areas Swansea are going to splash the cash on Andre Gray from Burnley for £12.5m, Luis Muriel from Sampdoria for £6m, Joe Allen from Liverpool for £6m, Sam Byram from Leeds for £3m and Harold Preciado from Deportivo Cali for £2.5m.

Shelvey and Gomis to be sold for combined £22m. Grimes will be loaned to a championship club and Tabanou to return to France.

Andre Gray won't sign for anyone and even if he did he couldn't play for them as he has already played for two teams this season (Brentford and Burnley) .

Also Byram will cost much more than £3 million I think.

2.) 10 Jan 2016 21:54:13
Andre gray can't sign for another club till next season as he already signed for two clubs this season least check the facts before posting.

3.) 10 Jan 2016 22:34:01
Sam Byram is out of contract in the summer, Cellino wants a fee for him this month. Will not be higher than £3m but will include sell on percentage.

With regard to Andre Gray - it is a very common misconception that you cannot play for more than 2 clubs per season, when in fact it is 3.

4.) 11 Jan 2016 08:48:28
Sorry Dan, you are wrong on this. A player can register with 3 clubs, but can only play for two of them in any one season. The only exception is if he moves on an emergency loan, something that clearly is t going to happen in this case.

5.) 11 Jan 2016 09:36:56
Andre Gray is not for sale, end of story!

6.) 11 Jan 2016 23:23:53
Andre Gray is certainly under consideration from Swansea hierarchy so they are possibly looking at any loopholes (not saying there are any) . However I believe Hatem Ben Arfa transferring to Nice last season and not being able to play would seem to indicate that you are right but I can only go off info I am given and that tells me Gray is a serious target for Swansea.

The other names I mentioned, bar Byram are forwards, or can play in the forward positions so they may be explored in the eventuality that Gray cannot play. I would have thought or hoped Swans would have known eligibility rules and not waste time but there we go.

7.) 21 Jan 2016 04:24:49
Could we trust hennings to pick up the slack if gray left?
