32 year old turkey international umit karan is a possible transfer target for stoke city. the galatasary forward has recently lost his place to baros after returning from a long lay off and is available for a nominal fee. karan was once voted sixth best european scorer by a uefa poll. he also scored a hatrick at the nou camp in the champions league but also managed the famous distinction of being sentt off in the same match. eric gerets has also expressed an interest to take his ex prodigy to marseille alhough the 'ribery case' is a hitch to affairs between the two clubs.

Rumours from different sources (I have friends in Glasgow with close connections to Rangers FC). Seems like Murray might force Smith to sell Boyd, Ferguson and Bougherra for a total of £15m. Smith will only get a third of that for replacements, unless others can be moved on too (e.g. Adam, Burke, etc). Main Gers targets seem to be McFadden (part of Boyd move to Birmingham) and Smith of Newcastle Utd. Don't know about defenders other than the existing rumours about Berra, Tonel and Wilkie.

Heaven at Arsenal. Hell at Pompey and West Ham. Arsenal are in talks with Andrei Arshavin as they apparently have been for a while according to a Zenit official. Arsenal are said by the official to be hoping to complete the deal within 10 days–2 weeks. Arshavin is keen on the deal and there would be no problems with wages, the only delay could be the agreement of the fee between Arsenal and Zenit, as Zenit want 20 mil for him and Arsenal value him at just 12 mil. This will be resolved and Arshavin will be signed within 2 weeks. Arsenal are also interested once again in 10 mil pounds Niko Kranjcar of Pompey, who would jump at the chance to sign due to the Pompey crisis, and would love to play Champions League football. Arsenal will thirdly and finally sign Matthew Upson in January for either the bid that has already been reportedly made of 5 mil + Nicklas Bendtner, and if that fails the cash will rise as far as 8 mil until West Ham sell. West Ham will also be forced to sell Craig Bellamy and Scott Parker (to Man City, 20 mil) and sooner than later Mark Noble and Rob Green. Portsmouth have already lost Defoe to Spurs and Diarra to Real Madrid, and could face losing Kranjcar to Arsenal and Crouch to Spurs. However Glen Johnson is going nowhere, as he has just signed a new deal at Pompey.

As for players not being able to sign a deal of more than 5 years – I think you will find you are wrong and that a certain Cesc Fabregass signed an 8 year deal only last year.

I gets frustrating coming on this page to read some of the ridiculous comments about the old firm. I am a school friend of Aiden McGeady and posted here about his bust up with Strachan. I can tell you sadly, he will not kick another ball for celtic. Strachan has a history of falling out with players and holds a grudge. Middlesborough, Newcastle, Stoke and Aston Villa have all made enquiries and apparently any bidof 6.5mill will be accepted. likely destintion is Aston Villa as Aiden wants to work under MON again. Bellamy will not be coming, the only possible signings are Hutszi and Silic, but will not join till summer. Marco Janko is another option but looking less likely as time goes on. one player celtic are looking at making a shock bid for is Luis Garcia of Atletico Madrid to provide a wide player of class. He is not getting much game time as Simao is the first choice, and at 30 is looking for a last big move.

Good news for the West Ham fans, the Tevez saga continues, Kia who now works for the hammers will bring back Tevez to upton park on a 2 year deal, Tevez will then go to Spain or Italy for in the region of £45M

1. Andre Arshavin
The delays have been caused for the following reasons. It is a complicated deal involving an initial loan with Arsenal paying 90kp/w wages until the end of the season. Then performance and success will determine the transfer fee & new contract.
Either way Arshavin is aware he will take a drop in wages but also has the motivation that great performances and success will mean his new contract will bring him in line with Adebayor & Fabregas on £80K.
The transfer fee is also to be set between £12–£17.5m. The amount is set directly to the success of Arshavin individually and the team as a whole. Wenger is waiting for this deal to tie up as he will then put this purchase into his summer budget freeing up the £20m he has for January.
However he will not spend all of this (Arshavin bought outright now would cripple his Jan budget). He really wants to see how the month develops at Man City. If they buy big in certain positions he hopes to capitalise on this with interest in: Micah Richards

First comment is to the bloke that reckons Rangers will sell Ferguson to either Everton, Newcastle, Sunderland but probably not to Arsenal. Mate, Ferguson is not premier league quality, he's strictly the Scottish league or championship level in England. What is more, for Rangers to sign a "top player" the club needs do more than sign English premier–league flop, McFadden. You Scots need to get real. next you'll be claiming that Arshavin is on his way to Scotland – oh, you already have.
Anyway, onto a juicy rumour which is gathering pace in Liverpool. A number of sources are claiming that Heskey will leave Wigan next week with Everton his preferred destination. The gossips are saying that Wigan have accepted an offer and the player is negotiating terms and conditions on a contract. I believe the fee is around the £3–4m mark, although I'm not 100% on that.
