Gaston Ramirez set to finally complete Southampton switch

I hope your right we now need a keeper left back and 2 centre backs quickly

Let's hope it goes through this time.

We need 2 CBs, a left back and left winger. Names have been mentioned from the Ajax 20 yr old, Phillips, a French player and Japanese one. This is one of 5 signings only and now agisnt the clock.

Agree about the keeper, left back, and two
centre backs, spot on mate, let's keep hoping.

We don't need to waist money on another keeper kelvin Davis is a good keeper! It the defensive mistakes that need to be resolved!

Do you not remember blackpool at home ?
my missus could have kept goal than the grouch we put in goal that night .

Agree about the defensive mistakes mate,
but Kelvin has been beaten twice this season already on near post goals, doesn't
bode well however much we want him to
cut the mustard.

Blackpool at home.......Yes I do remember it. I think we all do but it wasn't Kelvin in goal. As much as I liked Bart I always thought he was dodgy, he flapped at the ball like that in pre season against west brom i think it was.
I don't know the statistic but wonder how many time Kelvin has saved penalties? I think he's a good keeper, yes don't get me wrong. We do need someone else but for the moment he'll do (as long as he doesn't pic up an injury).

Yes it was the 2 nd string keeper that night V Blackpool.thats what I meant .Davis is a great keeper but we have to have cover if he is injured again as he was against Blackpool .

Crawley boss Richie Barker is close to securing a deal to bring Bury winger David Worrall to Broadfield Stadium. Barker went in with a second bid after the Reds' offer of £120,000 was laughed off.

Worrall previously worked under Barker when the Crawley manager was Shakers' boss last season.

This defiantley wont happen and ime a crawley fan

from fulham dressing room .....gary hooper to sign by friday the players are hearing...6m plus sell on clause
tonko

Hooper 6mill forget it 9mill then add ons

£6million never in a month of sundays and, with add on's?. Overpriced at £6 million and add ons will not be an issue as I don't know what extra you could add at that price

Not a chance in hell of this one happening!

Hooper is about to realise an ambition of playing in the Champions league barring a total collapse against Hellsingborgs!

He will move to thE EPL one day but not right now!

Just who we need, a player who would probably struggle in the championship

27 Aug 2012 22:07:25
Wigan to sign Jermaine pennant and Kenwyne Jones for 6 million. Thats from a close friend to Roberto.

Hopefully!!

I so hope this is true...two players who just live of there name and dont deliver and please take whelen and whitehead as well

I wouldn't take either of them if i'm honest. Jones is a good player, but don't see him playing much

Wouldn't surprise me but would have expected more for the two of them. A combined fee of about £8 million would be more realist

Kenwyne Jones doesnt suit Roberto Martinez's style of play

27 Aug 2012 22:05:57
Stoke have made an enquiry regarding Bristol City midfielder Cole Skuse.

Im not sure stoke would want cole skuse as he doesnt show the potential stoke are looking for plus he is another midfielder.

Skuse will be perfect for stoke, he's tough tackling and would fit stokes style of play, but he's a bristol boy through and through and would never leave us

Could be true, heard he has 1 year left on his current deal and has been linked before, definitely Premiership quality

We've more midfielders than defenders so would have to move on about half a dozen first. Plus supposedly signing EDU and Huddlestone so have no more need for midfielders

There is no chance he'd leave us

Stoke have signed Charlie Adam so i dont think they need skuse even though he is a good player!

Lee Naylor shock return to wolves on free transfer

Would be suprised he has publicly stated that he would never return to wolves while moxey is still at the club.

Lee trained with Wolves at the end of his Celtic contract. Wolves had no interest then. He was mainly a second or third choice LB at Cardiff. His trial at Birmingham was unsuccessful. This is not rubbish.

Is this the Lee Naylor who wasn't given a contract by Walsall ?

I meant "This is rubbish"!

27 Aug 2012 21:49:16
WBA are looking to bid for Wilson Palacios and Matthew Etherington. But Peter Odemwingie and ex Baggie Somen Tchoyi could be joining the potters.

We don't need midfield players or wingers so not gonna happen. Odemwingie will only be sold for stupid money which Stoke won't pay

Odemwingie is nearly 32 you wont get stupid money for him now! a couple of million at best. Baggies fans....tut.

27 Aug 2012 21:45:44
Bristol city have rejected a 1.9 million pound bid from wigan for Albert Adomah. They are not expected to make an improved bid.

I would of loved to see him at Wigan

Not for 1.9 million. He,s worth twice that

Guna have to raise that to nearer 4 mil if they want to sign him

Michu to Swansea for 2million Albert 4milion really do you think so? Albert is not worth 4million have a word with yourselves.

27 Aug 2012 21:43:35
Craig Dawson to Bristol City.

Was the news on this then??

Loan at most! He is one of albion's brightest talent, he was in the Olympic GB squad! No way we would sell him!

Dawson is in the first team squad at west brom and is 3rd choice behind Olsson and McAuley...he WONT be leaving....end of!

27 Aug 2012 21:42:49
A bidding war has started between several premiership sides for Bristol City star Albert Adomah. City have accepted a 3.75m bid from a midlands club but Wigan are interested as are Swansea and Liverpool manager Rogers has always been a fan.

In fairness I think Rogers considered him under Swansea - I don't think he'd be interested in him with Liverpool's resources... As for bidding war - Can't see HJ getting into that, if he wanted him, he'd state his price and that's it... One of the things on our side is that we have Monk and Dobbie who possibly could be sweetners for the deal... Still who knows - all rumours...

Total rubbish albert won't leave in this window and plus del boy wants him to stay don't see him going anywhere yet maybe in the january window yeah but not this one

27 Aug 2012 21:41:29
Douglas and keiron richardson are set to sign before the end of the transfer window with an additional striker

Would help if you let us know the team they'll be signing for

I take it this is with regards to Fulham

Douglas staying with twente according to reorts in the dutch media, however that was caveated with the words "still a long time left in the window"

27 Aug 2012 21:40:18
Kirk Broadfoot gone! Poached by a bigger club - Dundee or St Midden!!!!

27 Aug 2012 21:35:56
Three more in at Ashton Gate... Monk and Dawson on season loans and an un-named midfielder in talks. Adomah to Wigan. City accept bid of 3.75m.

Dont see why we would bring two loans in as that aint needed! one is enough!

27 Aug 2012 21:04:06
Crystal Palace chairman, Steve Parish, has made speculative enquiries into the possibility of former manager, Steve Coppell, coming back to the club in some capacity.

How long until he walks out though?

He's only just been employed as Director of football at Crawley so that's not happening

Director of Football? What would be his role?

27 Aug 2012 20:47:19
Kieran Westwood to leave Sunderland possibly to Southampton.
Darren Fletcher supposedly off to Sunderland....but interesting David Moyes

Would like to see this come off but doubt that it will as westwood is there No.2 and they also released Craig Gordon earlier in the summer.

Hope so, quality player

Sunderland would never sell westwood especcialy as we have just released gordon

27 Aug 2012 20:35:30
rotherham had a defender training with them today anybody got any idea who it is can play left back right back and also can play centre back

I heard it was brian easton.

Jonathan meades

Pascal chimbonda and another french trialist

27 Aug 2012 20:30:19
Saints are apparantly reported as placing a bid for Ajaxs Nicolai Boilesen. Apparently a damn good player and was able to get in to the first team at 20.
They will want mega bucks though. Anyone know much about him?

We've bid 5mil

27 Aug 2012 20:23:45
from Duncan Castles of The Sunday Times: Southampton pursue Barcelona central defender Andreu Fontas.

27 Aug 2012 20:19:16
young right back conner mclaren realeasd by millwall is having a trial at orient, why we let him go is baffaling as he is miles better than dunne and only 19

Probabley is better then Dunne, as Dunne is a Right Back, and Maclaren a Left Back

No mclaren is a right back who can play at left back

And how would you know he's better than Dunne when he hasn't even played for the first team.

Because dunnes pony and ive seen the kid play

Sorry mate, I'm not Dunney's biggest fan (in fact he was especially pony last year) although he's played ok since he's come back in the team but how can you say it's baffling we let MacLaren go coz he's on trial at Orient?? If he was on trial at Arsenal or Barcelona you might have a point but probably just shows what level he suits at this moment which is not good enough for the Championship. Dunne has a contract and has played at this level, the kid doesn't and hasn't - seems logical to me! Don't forget, we've got Tam to come back who can play right back, as well as Smithy when he's fit and Malone and Lowry who can play on the left.

27 Aug 2012 20:16:21
Connor Wickham Leaving sunderland to join ipswich on loan

Never going to happen ,shame but money will be the big factor.

Doubt it when Murphy's coming back for the season. Would like to see Wickham back as he adds height, but strangely he was never very good in the air (which is what we need).

I don't think this will happen either but you never know he is an ipswich boy and we did get Jimmy Bullard and he was on big money so lets try and get this deal done everyone else is signing players we need someone like Connor Wickham in the team to push forward! coyb!

27 Aug 2012 20:05:54
do's anybody know if there is any truth in that tuncay sanli is comming back to the boro after been release by last club

Aint gonna happen he ended up suing the club last time he was here gibson wouldnt welcome him back in a hurry.

27 Aug 2012 20:02:52
Coventry have asked for permission to talk to MA about managers job - Pompey have accepted that he will go and have given that permission as they are unlikely to be able to afford his wages when Chanrai finally completes his ownership.

Absolute rubbish. The biggest lie I've seen in a while

This would be a great addition to the club, i really like MA and tbh hes what we need a passionate up and coming boss, lets face it if pompey had not have been deducted 10 points last season they wud still be in the championship! i think he wud have done well with a bit of backing

No guarantee Chanrai will get Pompey. Bassini might, or the PST might - Birch won't entertain Chanrai.

Well you just made that up ! Appleton said he will stay at pompey untill he would get sacked (which i dont think will happen) or if the club went out of buisness (which they wont),so post some proper rumours

Why do we want another manager with next to no experience, and no achievements? Megson is the best candidate out there.

Don't want him but if we went in for him he would come here over pompey

27 Aug 2012 19:57:41
Aston villa want brightons Lewis dunk and Liam bridcutt

Wouldnt mind either of them both young hungry and have potential just like other targets stephens and benteke.

Most fans wont be impressed with these but they want big names.

Realistic Villa Fan

Could see that from Lambert but he needs to take care importing too many Championship players in one go. Rumout that he is after Stevens from Charlton and of the two Brighton players, Bridcutt is the one who fits Villa's requirements most and could slot straight into their first team set up whereas Dunk is more "one for the future" and needs developing. Guessing it might take a bigger fee than Villa are prepared to pay to get Bridcutt though - £2million plus?

Well they can't have them!

Bridcutts going nowhere but have dunk if you have 4 mill

Great players but Villa need world class players to turn their season around or else it will be a fight to avoid relagation

We'd want at least 5 mill for them both

27 Aug 2012 19:49:00
Scunthorpe United rumour?

Alan Lee and David Prutton signing tomorrow

Right about Prutton. Let's hope you're on the money about Lee...

27 Aug 2012 19:48:22
Any truth on emnes coming back to Swansea?

Your chairman has admitted an interest he's 1 of mowbrays favourites though so you may have to pay more than he's worth with 3 & half years on his current deal to go but a large part of boro fans wouldnt mind seeing him we dont think he's a natural finisher.

I hope not, totally unproven in the Premiership

Marv's 2nd touch is normally a tackle, heart the size of a pea,one good season out of the four he's been with us, if the 5m fee proves to be correct, then it is the greatest bit of transfer business in the history of our great club!!!!

Emnes maybe a bit a of a legend for scoring against Cardiff in the past but to pay 6m for him would be stupid. How can can possibly be worth that when michu only 2m. Makes no sense. He'd probably be on the bench too. Dyer and routledge been in Excellent form. The only players we've been linked with who would genuinely improve us are Hernandez and miku. After 15m(Allen) + 6m(Sinclair)+ 7m (rodgers), surely we've still got enough left to get both these players. Depending on wages though. I don't think we should be paying 10-15mil on a player but I do think the swans are far too causiou

Do not think Swansea will pay what Boro are prepared to let him go for so he will still be a Boro player come September. I wont be unhappy with that outcome.

27 Aug 2012 19:43:38
Just heard Everton are interested in Johnny Rusell!

27 Aug 2012 19:43:37
Jordan rodes to Newcastle united, tiote and cabaye will both stay as Newcastle will want 25 millions + each player

27 Aug 2012 19:41:01
Carlisle to use the loan window and boost ther squad with Ryan Noble and Kallum Higginbotham coming in until January, Mark Beck will the go out on loan for his development.

Maybe one of the strikers but not both with jervis just coming in

No I could see truth in this because noble is a striker however higginbotham can play as a striker or a winger so would gives us more depth in that area.

Higginbotham training this morning with the squad due to travel to Ipswich, with Scannell injured can't see Town letting our only wing cover go until either Scannell is back or we sign another wingman.

27 Aug 2012 19:26:01
Stevenage have made a bid for Altrincham striker Damian Reeves

Why? He is a free agent?

He isn't, he re-signed for Althricham

27 Aug 2012 19:19:23
WESTHAM NEWS....3 players we are trying to get in are 1 k jones 2 j cole 3 solley of charlton . we should be able to get all 3..

Charlton won't sell solly unless they get 4-5 mil, west ham are only offering 2 mil

And moussa sow and tevez and de rossi of roma and berbatov

Why do all west ham fans think there going to sign these amazing players? E.g tevez its never gonna happen

27 Aug 2012 19:05:35
Heard from a very reliable sauce
(ketchup haha!) that Shrewsbury
Made an offer for David Connolly
Very good goalscorer with great
Eperience! Make it happen!

Are you serious, hes 35!

This would be brilliant, his experience and goal scoring record would be perfect

Way off the mark....premier league reserve striker to join before this weekend...

Any chance of a name? Or perhaps a club?

Kiwi international Chris Wood on loan from WBA?

Be interesting to see who we get in (if anyone) have faith people

Not a chance also we r bringing in mitrivic of Chelsea on a seasons long loan u heard it here first I never lie

27 Aug 2012 18:41:59
Barnsley have offered ferrie bodde a weeks trial to prove his fitness

A fully fit ferrie bodde would be a good signing but ifnot fully fit would only add to our long injury list.Hope he does prove he does show he is.

27 Aug 2012 18:25:39
Strong rumours in the blackpool camp that MattPhillips if off to southampton with puch + cash deal
BCCF HT

Look mate this is not funny anymore it's just sad to be honest he is not going anywhere and that is the bottom line because Karl Oysten says so!

Puch? You mean Puncheon? I really don't see him leaving the saints one of very few with previous Premiership experience and he's a brilliant link up player with the young Nathaniel Clyne.

I heard it was actually de Ridder, rather than Puncheon, who was being offered as a part-exchange for Matt Phillips. Tom Ince has declared he doesn't want to move so looks like Phillips is the only right-winger we're after

That would be great news

The guy has put in a transfer request, which I think means "I want to leave!"

Maybe Karl will be stubborn but I think you will find that most clubs realise once it has got to this stage the only business like way is to take the money and let the guy go, otherwise you end up with a player who is unhappy, will not play to his potential and will unsettle the squad. At the end of the day, I think you will find that Karl's business sense overcomes his stubborn streak! He will also see Blackpool have been doing pretty well without him, and £6m now is better than £3m at Christmas.

Blackpool same situation as us with AOC, you dont need money or to sell, but if a decent offer comes in and player wants to go, you cant turn it down, my thoughts are that we can offer better wages even if we go back down as our club is bigger then blackpools and also we can offer prem football with more exposure to bigger fan bases, i mean i would rather play infront 30k fans then 10k at blackpool, and same with AOC 25k last season or 60k at arsenal.

I hope not but the player hismelf has said very little - not withdrawn transfer request - so you just don't know. Sad thing is I don't think he's ready for the PL.

So its punch + 6mil i would just rather have 5 mil

Blackpool were offered 9 million in the jan 2011 window for Charlie Adam and turned it down. So we have history of rejecting big money offers. Some people don't know Karl Oyston very well if they expect him to cave in.

And where is Charlie Adam now??

See the point??

Yeah, he left Blackpool coz the grass would be greener.......see the point?!?

Get in for Adams saints ,We need some grit in the midfield , a good dead ball specialist and great at corners ..We have to feed Ricky .

To the person who said that swansea gets an attendence of 30k and blackpool 10k. i think you would find that it is swansea 20k and blackpool 14k, get your figures right.

10k at Blackpool your looking at figures from 3 seasons ago before the ground was developed try 14k +

27 Aug 2012 18:21:50
is their any new Man City news apart from the sinclair deal?

27 Aug 2012 18:09:13
Bristol city are in talks with Garry Monk. The other option is boateng from arsenal. If these fall through Mcinness will be forced to offer Amougou a 6 month deal to sort out our leaky defence, as I can't see carry lasting a full season neither monk

Rather have Amougou he was good last year for us and monk and fontaine then i see no real weak points of our team

27 Aug 2012 17:50:03
dicanio has told benson he can leave stfc after siding with caddis in recent arugument.both likely to leave before window shuts on friday

27 Aug 2012 17:48:16
News just in...... Darren fletcher is at the stadium of light!! Just got out of his Bentley!!! Remember where you heard this first!!!

Odd since he's at the under 21 s match now watching it

dempsey having medical tomorrow
with sunderland but if sunderland sign
him sessegnon will be signed by either
arsenal or spurs

27 Aug 2012 17:23:21
Huddersfield town to sign Kane FErdinanad and Ryan Hall from Southend UTD

Why on earth would they do that!

Ferdinands a possibility but don't need another midfielder and def. not Hall

Why would southend sell their key players when they are going for automatic promotion?

Please just take kane ferdinand, i think he's useless and too lazy, only turns up for the camera's give us money300k and take him, cheers

Because they are close to going under, Ferdinand to Forest, Mohsni to Celtic and Hall to Peterboro

Southend aren't close to going under that was 3 years ago I don't know where your getting your info from haha.

Southend ( we) are going close to going under pal unfortunately, we are in 10 million pounds of debt we need all the money we can get, but we're not in immediate danger of going under

27 Aug 2012 17:19:54
Huddersfield Town to splash the cash on Johnny Russell and Gary Mackay-Steven and are also hopefull of completing the signing of Sheffield United's Steven Quinn. this will be payed for with the money made from the sale of starlet Jordan Rhodes (very reliable source)

One out of Russell and Mackay-Steven could happen, but Hudds could easily afford all of them without even having to sell Rhodes.

Everton are looking at Russell!!

Town dont have to sell jordan to afford any of these players

Not a chance of Russell going to Huddersfield...

Town will do all they can to hang onto Rhodes. If he does leave then it will be to a top prem team like arsenal or spurs

This is more repetitive claptrap. Nobody coming up with the 8 million town are wanting to consider parting with JR. Plus we don't need to sell him to complete squad with Russell & Quinn.

I'd love them 3 to sign, but jordan isnt going, does the 'reliable source' also have common sense?!

For the last time Jordan is going nowhere we don't need to sell him and Grayson has stated his intention of wanting to keep him. Still i would be happy with the current signings but i would take these 2 too

The above post is a work of fiction ( very reliable source )

No way Rhodes would move to a club like Arsenal right now. He is a sensible lad and doesn't want to spend the best part of the next two or three years warming the bench.

There are going to be a lot of sad Huddersfield fans in the next few days, all Rhodes lead to boro

Boro as in Middlesborough? Think you missed Dean Hoyle saying a sale to any Championship rival is out of the equation, so just forget about it 'Boro' fans

Chairman won't let Rhodes go to any championship rival, he's already stated so many times. Dream on boro fans, he's got more chance at Huddersfield

Quinn ain't going anywhere. Reliable source

Never going to happen with everton interested in russell

The type of 'very reliable source' you're talking about is spelt 'sauce' as in Heinz........you talk twaddle!

Well russel has said he wants to move to huddersfield but only if they buy Makay-Stevens as well as russel and he also said he isn't interested in everton as everton are not interested in him so if Dundee sell them two looks very likely to be going to Huddersfield

Why would Rhodes leave Huddersfield when he is promised a first team apperance every game and if he goes to the prem he wouldnt even make the bench he is staying and thats it, and Johnny and Gary and possibly Quinn could come even with out selling the English leauges most promising striker

A mate of mine is a Dundee utd fan and knows a few folk who work at the club. He will do a bit of snooping n find out. Will post his findings

27 Aug 2012 17:19:37
Hibernian are to sign UCD player Paul Corry. Pat Fenlon sees the attacking midfielder vital addition to the Hibs set up.

27 Aug 2012 17:17:09
Bury striker, andy bishop, could be moving to Wrexham on a loan deal.

He is on his way out has been told he can leave

27 Aug 2012 17:02:04
Jean-Alain Fanchone has arrived in Watford from Udinese.

It is likely that he will join on-loan for the season.

He will be joined by others later in the week.

Seems legitimate, he tweeted he was heading to Watford a couple of days ago. Could signal the end for Carl Dickinson's Watford career.

The arrival of Pudil has already provided us with a quality new left back.

Dicko is not very good, so will be no loss at all.

Oh I totally agree with both of you (I'm the guy who wrote the second comment), just saying if we have Fancone and Pudil he'll be on his way out, and Doyley can play there if needed as well.

27 Aug 2012 16:53:39
I heard Wigan want albert adomah to replace Moses and going to launch a 4 mil pound bid to sign the Ghana

4 million for uncle, where do you want me to drive him to...? CSF. COYR

Make it 6 Million and he's yours
But please seal the deal tomorrow - we can then buy someone else ;)

4 Million he would be yours, Cant see Bristol City turning that kind of money down! £2 million no chance!

City have accepted a bid of 3.75 million from a premiership side. All down to whether Adomah want to move now!

27 Aug 2012 16:45:36
greg abbott to manage coventry seems their board is impressed with the job he's done at carlisle on a shoestring

He would be a great loss while not 'loved' by all Greggs achievements have been excellent. When it comes time for Gregg to leave, hopefully when we are a championship side he will do so with the supporters best wishes

I hope this is a rumour with some truth to it. Working with no cash for transfer fee's a manager needs time. Abbott has had plenty of that, time to Jog on Mr. Abbott.

Gregg Abbott has done a very very good job for Carlisle with no money to spend he brought in some top quality players had some good cup runs and some good league finishes top manager in my eyes

Let's face facts Cov have no money so the next manager will either be from within the current coaching staff (Richard Shaw) or an unemployed manager. There not going to buy out anyone's contract are they, lol

27 Aug 2012 16:43:39
Joe Cole to Celtic on a season-long loan deal. Champions League football said to be a big factor in the deal with Liverpool paying almost half of his wages.

Can he play Centre Half?!?!?!? If not I doubt this will happen.

27 Aug 2012 16:22:46
Andy Carroll to the villa. Liverpool still owe 15 million for downing. Watch this space!

We are watching leave ur name next time so we can laffat u on transfer day

Surel if that was the cade NUFC would have a better shout as Liverpool owe Big Mike more than that from signing Andy last year

They dont owe a penny to either get a grip.

LFC has more or less paid the full fee for downing off.

FowlerGod.

27 Aug 2012 16:05:32
One of three players will either be bought or on loan for the year Kenwin Jones , Joe Cole or Michael Owen will be at West Ham , forever a hammer

Out of the 3 i would say jones.

Jones is cr** if that happens bfs needs to leave

....on the bright side, the other two would keep the physios happy - they're a bit bored since Dyer and Ashton went :)

27 Aug 2012 15:44:50
Chesterfield to off load Westcarr to Sheffield United in exchange for Richard Crewswell

27 Aug 2012 15:43:18
Chelsea are still monitoring both Hulk and Edinson Cavani ahead of next weeks transfer deadline.

The European Champions currently only have Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge as their recognised first team strikers so at least one other is needed.

Once either Hulk or Cavani are signed, Chelsea will allow youngster Lucas Piazon to join fellow Londoners Crystal Palace on a season long loan. He is seen as one for the future so this season seems too early for any first team experience at Chelsea.

Daniel Sturridge is off to spurs or liverpool

I'd happily take Piazon to Palace! From what I've heard of him he's a tricky young player, would fit in really well!

Cavani is quality but I think hulk would be better suited to the English game

27 Aug 2012 15:40:20
Crystal Palace are set to sign Hull City defender Paul McShane on loan until January to act as cover for injured captain Paddy McCarthy.

To increase their attacking options, Palace are also set to sign Stephen Dobbie from Swansea for around £750,000 as well as QPR striker DJ Campbell on a season long loan.

Would be very happy with Dobbie and DJ Campbell. Don't think we could pick up Campbell's wages without QPR contributing though, as for McShane I'd take him back at Palace.

Being a faithful Fox, you are welcome to DJ. He's a complete waste of oxygen. Lazy and greedy, with added heaps of unfaithfulness.

Hearing Matt Phillips will be a saints player by close tomorrow

Hearing wrong then

Quite right, Saints have a game tomorrow, so more likely to be Thursday!

Strong rumour that West Brom defender Craig Dawson met with Bristol City over the weekend. Maybe a loan deal?

True, signing thursday on loan, starting to get a good side together, landsdown money again

You might get tamas ,but dawson will be staying at the hawthorns .

Craig Dawson will NOT be leaving WBA!

Not happening. I wish

What a load of nonsense

Well, he definetely held talks with City over the weekend. West Brom want ~£2m for him but there are rumours that Adomah is off to the premiership and maybe included in a deal?

Considering Dawson was on the bench against Spurs and was then in training on Sunday I highly doubt he held talks with anyone. Albion only have 4 CB's so there's no chance Dawson will be going anywhere.

'West Brom want ~£2m for him'

Why do people make this stuff up? He's highly thought of at WBA and it would take a hell of a lot more than £2m to get him

Would be surprised if he goes out on loan. Amazed if it was a permanent deal, can't see it happening

27 Aug 2012 14:33:57
Emile Heskey is considering a deal to join the China exodus but also has potential offers from Leicester and Brighton both of whioch would be on considerably lower salary

Would be a good foil for CMS, but can't see it happening, hope I'm wrong though.

Money the issue again, would not expect this to happen.

Leicester never offered him a deal.. and with them signing Futacs it makes it even more unlikely

Actually starting to hope brighton sign him

Despite reports circulating on Stoke City messageboards over the weekend, Darren Fletcher has no interest in joining Stoke City and the two parties have not held talks. The two clubs agreed a season long loan deal with the view to a permenant deal but this was rejected out of hand by the player. Fletcher however remains confident that a similar move to Sunderland will materialise over the next few days.

In other Manchester Utd related news, Shaktar Donetsk have opened negotiations with Manchester United over a €7.1m move for Dimitar Berbatov.

Stoke after fletcher that's the first time iv seen it online and heard it . And it's not been on any stoke city message boards iv looked T them all so I don't have a lue what u have heard mate

Fletcher was apparently scouting for man utd

Coventry caretaker managers Lee Carsley and Richard Shaw have been given the go ahead to sign players before the transfer window shuts on Friday. The City board believe the squad does need strengthening and the new boss can sign in the loan window.
Tranmere defender Zoumana Bakayogo is close to signing a two year deal after a deal was agreed this morning.
Another player close to signing Is Gillingham midfielder Charlie Lee. The former Peterborough and Millwall player is wanted by a number of sides but will hold talks with the duo tomorrow morning.

The sky blues dnt have any money to sign players ,they cant even sell food at there ground or own the seats in the ground ,they owe 600k in arrears

Think you'll find they've managed to sign 9 players so far so how can you say they cant sign players? They haven't payed rent as they are in ongoing talks to buy half of the Ricoh which appears to be reaching some sort of possitive conclusion.

Why would a player who was captain the other day and hopes to be again soon leave a club? (I'm talking about Charlie Lee)

Why would zoom leave Tranmere , Coventry cannot afford him , and why would he leave ?

Charlie lee is going know where as he is loving his football at gillingham and hoping to keep the captain arm band

Why would charlie lee go to you. you couldn't afford him he would cost you at least 600,000 and people say many things about gills chairman paul scally but he knows good and bad buisness and coventry at the moment is bad buisness.

Never happen because is very happy at tranmere should go for thompson because he is waste money

Peter Odemwingie could be set for a move away from West Brom before transfer window closes Fulham,,Sunderland and 3 other premiership clubs are said to be interested,he missed the Spurs game with a mystery injury and it seems he is unsettled at the Baggies and is not exactly flavour of the month with his fellow players.

I have also heard of this rumour and it is also
on some albion forum sites, could be odemwingies agent playing silly buggers again, usually occurs when transfer window opens ,then again odemwingie does tend to chuck his toys out if he aint the focus of everyones attention, and with the arrival of Lukaku and the impact he is havin on the team and club ,would not be surprised if there is some truth in this rumour. We will find out come friday.

Source chis lepowski: odemwingie is settled in the midlands just bought a house near the bound his wife is pregnant and the fans love him if I was I betting man I would bet he would stay

P.O is a bit of a diva but he is still the clubs top scorer at the moment,if we do decide to cash in,it should be to a foreign club and not a premiership rival,

I honestly think PO loves the club, I certainly enjoy watching him play and score goals. I guarantee he will still be at West Brom this season aswell as next season. I would be gutted if he goes, even if we get a ridiculous amount for him I don't think it would be worth it

Luton Town manager Paul Buckle will return to his old stamping ground of Bristol Rovers this week and sign keeper Beavan and may well look to loan Joe Anyinsah.

Good news for Rovers is this will free some wages cash to sign Kieran Cadogan.

Expect Cian Bolger on loan to the Gas til January 2013 to be announced on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Not really bevans injured and joe anyinsah just got back into the first team

Swansea to sign Hernandez immediately after Sinclair departs. Tom Ince will sign on deadline day no matter what Blackpool fans say

27 Aug 2012 15:57:56
Tom Ince says he's going no where

No he won't , no matter what swansea fans say

Blackpool fans dont need to say anything as tom and his father have said that he's not going anywhere end of.

Clearly some people on here are stupid. Tom Ince is going nowhere, he himself has today said the same publicaly.

Tom ince himself has said hes nt going nowhere google blackpool gazette

You sad deluded soul, Tom is staying. Good luck trying to contact Karl Oyston as his phone will be switched off.

He (Ince) better not, he's my captain on the championship fantasy football! haha

Yes just the biggest blackpool fan of them all oysten and he says no

What about what Tom Ince says.....read SKY SPORTS......he wants to stay at Blackpool......although he may depart on your FIFA 12

I hope hope we get Hernandez. He's quality. Please not emnes not worth anywhere near the money that's been mentioned. Ince is also I real good prospect but no way blackpool will let him go, especially with the form he's in. Plus if we're honest, he'd certainly be behind dyer and hernandez( if, fingers crossed, we get him). I do think that we're also light up front. Except for graham, not much else. Shechter was poor last season. Miku had been mentioned but getafe want too much. I also worry if either Rangel or Taylor get injured. Could do with someone at full back.

Never mind ince. Hernandez and miku. Splash the cash Huw

To all Blackpool fans. Don't worry Swansea don't want Tom Ince. He won't get in our side anyway. Be a good sub to come on though.

Once they say they're staying,usually they're already packing their bags :-) {Ed003's Note - Not in this case :-) }

We will just see on deadline day. Premier league and a great club. Look at Joe Allen, Scott Sinclair. Sure Ince would develop well here so we shall see {Ed003's Note - Are you oblivious to the recent news regarding Ince ?? }

Don't understand the rumoured valuation of Emnes at £5 -6 million. Pablo would be a steal at that price, Emnes would be a ripoff

Do Swansea fans think they can choose what happens with Ince; 'he's coming no matter what Blackpool fans say' and 'don't worry Swansea dont even want him'. They clearly do want him as they made a bid for him but won't be getting him.

What's the betting all these liars are conspicuous by their absence come 1st September.

You Blackpool fans are WAY WAY too easy to wind up.

You were saying???

Window closed........Tom Ince has signed for Swansea (no matter what we've said has he???????)

cardiff to sign 2 players this week another striker and a defender.the striker is jay bothroyd he loves the club and can't wait to go back.the defender is ian harte can do the job in the championship

Boothroyd is going to Sheffield Wednesday

Cardiff wanted to loan Raheem Stirling, but Brendan Rodgers said no, and they were looking at Guernsey's Ross Allen but he's staying put.

Cardiff will lose a number of players this week though, as the club starts to self implode.

Peter Whittingham will go to one of Fulham, Sunderland or WBA.

Robert Earnshaw will go to Sheffield Wednesday.

Kevin McNaughton will go to Celtic along with Aaron Gunnarson.

Finally, Malky Mackay could walk after fans have berated him on various message boards. This has put the SFA on alert as they want to bring him in if he's available.

Could mean that Craig Levein then takes up the Coventry City role.

Boothroyd is a manager at Northampton, Bothroyd is a QPR player, Bothroyd is leaving but he wouldn't go north.

Peter wittingham has just signed a 3 year contract

Mate did you not hear all the news about Cardiff City's re branding which is bringing £100,000,000 to the club, worry about your own team if you know nothing about ours!

Craig noone has joined. Too many strikers for Bothroyd, do if he is happy to be in Bench, he'll join. Ian Harte yes as we need defenders.

Whittingham has shined new contract, earnie will go especially if we get jay back and Gunnarson won't leave seeing as he only just joined last season, and McNaughtin is committed especially as we sold our other RB (Blake)

Cardiff will sign Craig noone from Brighton for a fee of at least 1.5million tomorrow, Thursday afternoon. Source is the argus

Anyone hear anything about Michael Owen coming to Norwich? Heard a few rumours...

He's goin to be a busy lad! He's linked with everyone! I'm a Wolves fan and he's linked with us?? Paul Tamworth

Sorry mate not a chance, he will not go that far from chester , where is stud operation is . He will only sign for a club which is much closer than Norwich. He is holding out for Everton but they signed 2 strikers last week.

Denied by Hughton at press conference for Scunthorpe game.

CH has squashed that rumour today. We have never made contact and not planning too! we are not that stupid haha

TBH great news not the sort of player we need. We have got where we are with young hungry players. Owen has been a superb player but can not see him giving us what we need ! would be a real gamble.

We dont want him

Saints 'agree deal' for Ramirez.
The clubs are said to have finally settled on a 14m deal. The deal will reportedly see Saints pay Serie A side Bologna 14m, while Ramirez's former club Penarol, who own 30 per cent of the player, will be given 30 per cent of any future sale. Source: local rag

after selling marvin emnes & scott mcdonald bringing in 8m for the two players . boro will bring in wonder kid jordan rhodes for 6m . plus albert adomah 2.5 m . also harry kewell on a free transfer .

Not a chance that Albert will go for less than £3.5M

Love an optimist!
Emnes £3m tops and Mcdonald half that max

Listen to the town chiarman, Rhodes will not be sold to a championship side, and the asking price starts at 8 million, Do your reserch properly.

Rhodes is going to celtic

Emnes going too play total football with the swans

fleetwood looking to loan chesterfield midfielder who can also play defence tandayi darikwa on a 3 month loan deal

OK you may be correct but it doesn't make sense to loan a player out from an already "small" squad.

Martyn Waghorn is on the verge of joining Ipswich on a three-year deal for around £500k. He has travelled up north to have his medical and join up with his new team mates before their match with Carlisle.

Would love this 2 happen Matt Holland is a legend at ipswich , sooner the better 4 me

^ you've posted on the wrong rumour mate. You're looking for the one below.

Owen to QPR. It's a win-win situation.

The club will see it as a statement of intent and marketing. And Owen will see it as an opportunity to be part of a project.

See it as a project...... and a cracking payday.

No way on earth owen will come to QPR we just don't need him. Im sure he will only go somewhere he'll get games

I heard he wants to stay up north cb and defensive midfielder first

Didn't he last week live on s ky sports say he wanted a club close to home location is everything .but let's hope qpr get him he's 32and hasn't even been training over paid and injurie prone

Could happen, QPR are throwing money around on so called established players and are using big wages to get players to sign for them, he will be looking for £50K/week and there are very few clubs who will shell out that kind of money for a player who is injury prone and well past his best.

Qpr have spent 6 million (5th lowest expences in the league) and have a lower wage bill than last year. Owen isnt what QPR need but whoever we buy they will be bought within our means. Hopefully a few CB's

27 Aug 2012 12:03:52
Free Agent David Connelly is set to sign for Walsall on a 1 year deal

Cant afford his wages

We only need mantom back and he will make us tick

Only need mantom back? when theres no goals in the team dream on mate

Why Mantom? Adam Chambers is quality.

Adam Chambers is useless- one good game in every 4

Chambers is the best center mid at walsall

Mantom got 3 goals in nine games for us,created loads and always gives 100%,chambers plays 2 and injured for ten/

Bristol City Outs;
Edwards - Wallsall (Loan)
Kilkenny - Millwall (possibly a loan deal)
Nyatanga - Sheff Utd
Pitman - Burnley
Stewart - Crystal Palace

The above will fund the following deals including releasing the funds for wages.

Ins;

Gary Monk
DJ Campbell
Buszaky

Plus the possibility of another big name defender signing too (although this may be a loan deal).

That will conclude the transfer activity at Ashton Gate

If you say so

All could happen. But defo not Campbell now

I hope we get those three players would make are team solid for the season and with the others players would take us somewhere this year

Monk maybe the other deals have gone by the wayside, not sure what to make of it but have heard loads about dawson joining on loan this week, thoughts anyone as tidy player

Pitman 2 Burnley my uncle is the Burnley director and Brett has just signe a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee rumoured to be about 850k

Pitman will only be signing for burnley if its a loan deal , we are only going to make 1 more signing before 11pm friday and that will be a loan ! Straight from eddie howes mouth ! UTC

Burnley to loan in nick powell of manchester united

Quote from Howe in the paper says that the situation has changed and there might be a cash purchase...

A lot of city fans think that pitman will be leaving after signing baldock and i think city will be fine without pitman as long as we don't let adomah go, i know adomah isnt striker or centre forward but he creates lots of chances and we have a good selection of attackers with or without pitman

Izale Mcleod will sign for Walsall when his one month contract expires after it was revealed Portsmouth can't afford to keep him

Quit with the mcloed rumour its not going to happen

Welcome to him, been very disappointing, apart from one lucky goal, hasnt been able to hit a barn door.

Pure speculation, no foundation as Pompey's future will not be settled for at least another week

McLeod misses more than he scores but at Div 1 standard he is still a decent striker and I would be surprised if Pompey do not find the money to keep him

Walsall r a bigger club

Rubbish. That has not been "revealed"

Walsall a bigger club? Ahaa

Wow they are big just signed Andy Taylor

Taylor big signing on non contract terms

'I would be surprised if Pompey do not find the money to keep him' ----I wouldnt be

STFC - !

Watch this space....

Close family friend with inside info:

Benson - Injured, not going anywhere until possibly Jan 13.

Ward - Deal Done.

Defender/Utility Player - Deal Done (Name to be released this week obviously)

Striker - Big Name coming in. The 2 Mil that Swindon received from board actually came from Mr Black (Owner of Betfair) to pay for this persons wages a 18 month contract...
The name with not be released until dead line day due to deal being hijacked.

Why don't we just him then, and then the deal cannot be highjacked?

Deals never run out in january though if you sign in the summer?

Can understand the name not being released until deadline day

Informal rumour that Ramirez to Southampton deal is back on. Neither club has come forward about it, nor has the press talked about it, so taking this with a pinch of salt.
Rumour is the agent has said he will take a cut on his commission to help the deal go through. Peñarol, instead of taking 30% from Bologna for the sale to Saints, will instead take the 30% from Saints should Saints sell him on; with the thought that Saints would sell him on for lot more. This means cash-strapped Bologna get to keep more of the money, which is in their favour.
With this going through, Saints medical team have flown out to Italy to give Ramirez his medical.
If this is all true, as a Saints fan I would like to say well done to Cortese. I am sure he would be behind the negotiations; managing the situation and resolving it in each party's favour.

Cortese couldnt hit water if he fell off his Sunseeker (paid for by club expenses). There is no way he's involved in the deal other than milking the owners for even more money.

Your team was used to drum up interest

Strongly disagree with the above, Cortese has been a breath of fresh air at the club, since for the years before we were run by a team of baffons!

If he's not involved in the deal then who is?!

Its on the Daily echo site and caught off side.

Problem is saints need a chairman with a premership mentalaty you can not do things on the cheap everything is more expensive fans are expected to pay more to see better football but the club need to give the fans a lot more than they giving now

"Your team was used to drum up interest"......Well if that was the case then it hasn't worked! Sounds like he will be a Saints player within the next 24 hours.

Of course Cortese is actively involved in the club's record deal. Pathetic to suggest otherwise.

Got to say, I think Of cortese as the one who masterminded the rebirth of the club. I think your comments (though funny) are wide of the mark. I know someone who has a friend working at the club and says NC is a total workaholic. Works stupid hours.

I had heard the deal hadn't actually gone away but was just taking time. From what I have heard its because of NC who has been quite tenacious with the whole thing

Would like to know where our new defenders are though

^^
"your team was used to drum up interest".
Oh dear. Have a look at a number of sources online that are reporting valid noises coming out of Italy that seem to sugget that you are going to look like a right person in the next 24/48hrs! Welcome Gaston. COYS!

The Daily Echo seems states that a fee has been agreed for around 14m. Their source is in Italy... Let's hope they are right. As for Cortese, he clearly drives a hard bargain and I'd much rather have him in charge of the finances than 'a' Peter Risdale. Ramirez is a young lad and will have big price tag round his neck. If he does come he will be under immense pressure, I hope he produces. However, we can't adopt a 'we'll score more than you' tactic for every game so we have to invest in defence. Fonte has been great but he looks out of his depth.

More like 4 million and David goodwillie for his autograph

Maybe Cortese should have a word with Brightons LB, looks taylor made for Saints.

In the metro 5 hours ago, i think it will finally happen but we need to move on to CB's ASAP

Really we need a second negotiator sometimes to just tell Cortese when he's going too far. I mean on some of the deals he's been too pushy for a bargain. I can understand going in for a bargain but he pushes and pushes and sometimes that'll cause trouble.

Seen a few very reliable sources linking Norwich with Park Chu-Young from Arsenal and John Guidetti from Man City.

What rubbish

Would be decent signings, there's just the matter of Premier League experience, although Chu-Young got that last season with Bolton on loan so that would be ok, but what is the asking price? Guidetti hasn't got the Premier experience but he's young and hungry so who knows? He would be relatively cheap as he hasn't played an awful amount under Mancini and both of these players are strikers, which is what we need before the window closes. Come on Hughton, sign at least one of them up! OTBC!

Guidetti is likely, but not Park. Expect Morison to leave by the weekend also

Park-Chu-Young didn't play on loan at Bolton, I confused him with another player so Guidetti would be the best choice regarding prices.

Where's Morison going?

Park is an amazing striker. Arsenal wasted his time. It would be the best signing if we signed Park

27 Aug 2012 10:35:37
Stoke want both Huddlestone + Dawson from Spurs before Friday. Expect a busy next few days for the potters.

If qpr with there stupid wage offerings can't get Dawson our 50k a week won't

Thought I'd heard this on SSN this morning. Concern is how will he fit in with Huth and Shawcross

Dawson will join Sunderland

27 Aug 2012 10:33:47
Bristol city to sign Garry Monk from Swansea For 355k. Brett Pitman going on a 1 month loan back to Bournemouth. Kilkenny joining Doncaster or Huddersfield for 300k. And Aaron amadi holloway joining on a 6 month loan to Yeovil

Monk is going nowhere

Pitman back at Bournemouth? I thought he was doing fairly well for Bristol but by all means love to see him back even for a month :')

Pitman would not get in at Bournemouth

So where are we (Doncaster) getting this money from? We have nothing left at all

^ You mean with the likes of Thomas and Tubbs who can't hit a barn door, the injured McQuoid, Demouge and Sheringham and the forty year old Fletcher. Real hard to see him getting any where near the starting line up (Sarcasm if you can't tell).

Pitman wasn't even on the bench in bristol city's game on sat! still can't see this one happening

What a ridiculous thing to say? Pitman and barnard would be great up front. Would you rather have Wes Thomas or Pitman up front?

Pitman has a bad attitude would not want him back and agree he would not get in the team

Tubbs hasn't had a chance when fully fit I believe when groves get sacked he will start banging them in

Brett would not get in starting eleven at afcb

Brett would walk into the team, Thomas is the worst CF I've ever seen. Pitman only used to sulk when he was bunged out on the wing.

Brett Pittman would Play first team what are
You on about he will be one of our best ST's and if we're getting him on a month loan the he obviously going to play every game

Ha ha i could never see pitman back in a cherries shirt! In the recent friendly we played against b.city & everytime he touched the ball he was booed by the cherries supporters & very much doubt he would be welcomed back by the chairman

He was booed by the moronic section of unwelcome cherries fans - who were probably the same people who booed him when he first started. Pitman is a great finisher and his sale brought much needed funds to AFCB. Pitman has been back to the club numerous times since his supporter. He is Welcomed by everyone except the morons.

Is amadi holloway any good

27 Aug 2012 10:31:27
Ian Hume and Alex Revell will both be involved in a player plus cash transfer between Rotherham and Preston.

Why would you want rid of a 1in 4 / 1in3 striker to get a talent with a history of fall outs and injuries ?

PNE dont have any money so how are the going to pay Rotherham for Revell.

Hope rotherham are payin for hume

Be a lot easier if kept hume a proven goalscorer for the club!

Pne HAVE money so stop saying they don't

Hume is worth 3 times what Revell is worth, so I think you should be asking "How are Rotherham going to pay PNE".

Since Preston are going to sign a Premier league striker on loan and Stuart Beavon when Wycombe lose their nerve just before the close of the transfer deadline, all this Rotherham talk is irrelevant.

Preston are supposedly having talks with a Prem club regarding a striker on loan, very likely a younster who need league experince.

PNE have NO money !

I wish PNE would just sign a striker already. I'm so bored of all the rumours.

Preston do have money its just that they wasted it in the past on players like carter, chaplow and others and will take there time and get the right deal

Totally agree bored of these rumours lets just pay up for beavon if he is the one get a creative midfielder and sack westley

"Trevor Hemmings, known for owning Preston North End. Net worth £900 million" Preston DO have money he just will not spend more then they bring in.

You clearly do not support PNE if you think we have no money. How did we offer 400k for Stuart Beavon then?

If PNE have no money what have they offered Wycombe....luncheon vouchers.

Lets wait for deadline day on Friday and see what happens. As for sacking Westley you must be mad. On a shoe string budget he has replaced last years over paid losers with greater quality in almost every position. Get real and support the lads as we are going places this season despite the views of the mindless minority.

Loan signing of a young (under 21) from Arsenal....or so I see on other sites. Hume gone by Friday & no new bid for Bevon (who's happy to stay at Wycombe)

What ever team Hume goes to he will be appreciated not like pne, it isn't about wages it's about brown nosing, some do it, so refuse to and I admire them that done.

Pne 4 crystal palace 1! i think that stands for its self so stop slating us! were just gona get better and better over the course of the season! and i think the young prem striker will be chuks aneke!

27 Aug 2012 10:42:25
Despite reports, Jonas Olsson will NOT be joining be Sunderland and will sign a new deal at West Brom

Hope so would rather have martin olsen from blackburn

Jonas is a god at the albion
if he went anywere else, he would never get the same affection as we have for him
jonas is a real true baggie with the heart of a lion
boing boing and what a relief

You do realise MO and JO are completely different types of player? Different positions for a start

Jonas is joining sunderland

Wigan are considering lining up a £4m bid move for Birmingham's Nathan Redmond as a replacement for Victor Moses

I would prefer Redmond more then Chung yong lee

27 Aug 2012 09:54:15
Reading are lining up a £1.2m bid for Notts County attacking midfielder Alan Judge

BS don't want him

Curle has already said he wont pick up the phine 'for less than 8 million pounds'

How much to make him pick up the phone though?

^ Every player has a price Tag

8m? his contracts up at the end of the season

Curle has already said he wont pick up the phine 'for less than 8 million pounds'

How will he no what the offer is unless he picks up the phone. I doubt county could afford to be that picky.

Id take 1.5m for him now if offered, its clear he'll be leaving next may for nothing, saying that if notts can go up and offer him a better wage he'd probably sign a new contract.

27 Aug 2012 09:52:19
Blackburn are rumored to be offering southampton £4 million + david goodwillie for start striker Rickie Lambert

LOL - Lambert won't go back to championship, and we will not be selling

They can offer what they like-he is not dropping down a division. NOT FOR SALE.

4 million and david goodwillie? What a joke... Lambert is worth more money, Southampton would hold out for as much as humanly possible and even then might reject.

Or £3M without Goodwillie. Dream on.

The fact that there going to offer david goodwillie makes me laugh

Why would he want to drop down a division? Its taken him ages to get to the Premier League.

If we go down and Blackburn go up the days of selling our star players to Blackburn Rovers for a new set of floodlights and David Speedie are thankfully long gone Steve Kean the 2nd most deluded man in Football 1st being Milan Mandrich

Just Blackburn playing mind games over who is the bigger club, i guess we may have enquired after one or two of their players and they are just trying to play games

He's waited his whole career for a crack at the prem. So why aged 30 would he take a drop down and to a shambolically run club at that. Let alone the fact that we wouldn't even entertain selling our main goals corer. No chance. Ridiculous.
Also Goodwillie isn't prem standard and certainly no better than Guly,Lee, JRod and Sharp!

What Southampton did in the last 2 seasons was historic and considering our financial situation of 3 years ago it was quite a fantastic achievement. But ask anyone who knows their football and they will know that the team that gets you up and out of the championship is not the team that will keep you up in the Premier.Leeds did this when they came up and went on to win the league in 91/92 and so on since then have other promoted clubs .Norwich brought in at least 5 new players last season and stayed up comfortably.
i think anyone who saw us lose to Middlesboro or reading at the end of last season as we stumbled over the line knew then that we had flaws in the squad and in the teams play .We all knew then .We have had all summer to address this knowledge .
Do the management at St Marys not know this ? Of course they did and do .But will they buy the players we need for the positions that are blatantly obvious, left back ,center half and a right winger who can up and down for attack and defence are so badly needed now ? If not why ? Wigan Reading Norwich West ham and Villa are all our immediate rivals to go down this year .
Reading said last week they now have adequate cover for every position in their 25 man squad and have finished their spending.
Saints are considered to be the 3 rd most richest or at least most financially viable club in England .
We have the best youth academy behind Man united .We have top prem players playing at other top clubs who came from Southampton.
But are Saints like Blackpool, refusing to invest in new players and pay higher wages and get players in on contracts that could hurt them in the next few years should we go down .Or can we not just not spot a good player who can do a good job for us while we find our feet in the Prem?
Jeff Cameron from the USA went to Stoke.Jarvis to West Ham.They all seem to fall through .Why ?
Huddlestone ?Dawson ? All good pros at least speak to them and show us Saints fans you have a clue about surviving our first season back . .
Ask Laurie Mcmemeny what his blue print was for keeping Saints in the top 6 season after season and Chris Nichol and the need for good old reliable steady pros .
Sky will pay Premier clubs the highest amount of revenue in history next season .
But are we happy being a yo yo club like Blackpool could be for the next few years just going up and down like West Brom?
I used to work for big kit supplier and live in the states now ,the game has huge numbers here so why arnt we increasing the Saints brand globally ? A USA player / Mexican ? Japanese or Korean player ?
We seem to go to the same old well time and time again.
As a kit supplier in the past to all the top clubs ,we always preferred to have a team going for promotion from the championship than a team fighting relegation. The product sold showed that .But come on Saints .We are SOUTHAMPTON.
Give us the chance to retain our pride as fans for what we have achieved these last 2 years and show some respect to those that have followed the club and played for the club all these years .
Let us as fans enjoy our time here in the Prem, even if it is only for a season .Let us go down with our heads held high and get some respect from our fellow premier clubs .think of the names that played for this club .Le god .Payne.Channon,Keagan,Alan Ball !
Lets not be remembered like a Derby or Barnsley.
We have Man U Sunday ,Arsenal and then Everton .Our season is already highly in danger of exploding and the clubs sprit could be broken after these 5 games .We have 5 days of transfer window left .Adkins positivity is inspiring and the players desire to play football is admirable but Wigan came to Saints in a must win game already on Saturday and guess what ? Wigan showed us Saturday- learn quick or you will be ruthlessly punished and not be in the Premier too long .

Ridiculous to even think of ricky leaving - he will be a huge success in the prem if we can service him

Yeah as if he would a big club like saints for one of the smallest championship sides

Ricky is the ideal example of a player willing to listen learn work hard develop his talent and prove all those wrong that showed him the door in the past - well done Saints for bringing him to us .now find us 10 more .He needs wingers to service him and an attacking midfielder to feed off of his lay offs .We will score goals if we keep Ricky .

To the "supporter" who longs for steady old pros and the days of Lawrie, suggest there is always WHU for you to support!

Can't understand your rant at all, we already have a Brazilian, Japanese,Argentinian and (probably shortly) a player from Uraguay. You talk about positions needing cover, well by the end of the week I think you will find they are. The club will have given the players who got us to the Premiershipa chance to show they can cope, and only then gone out into the market.
Our current management is streets ahead of what the club has had in the past, and I can remember standing watching the likes of Ron Davies so my memory is long. The Premiership is very different from what it was and Saints recognise this and are building to reflect it.
I think you will find Swansea didn't hit the ground running last season. We will soon pick up and show our quality.

AND LAMBERT WILL NOT DROP DOWN A LEAGUE!

£4m + Goodwillie wouldn't even buy Rhodes from Town, let alone a newly promoted Premier League team's star striker like Lambert. Blackburn need to pull their heads out of the clouds before its too late

So you think all is well do you ? We wont be in a relegation struggle ? We can sit back and enjoy our time as fans and not worry about not competing with all the others in the prem and we will represent ourselves well in this league this season ?.Nobody is prouder than me at what we have done these last 2 years .But the here and now is we need to strengthen. Hes right we could be adrift after just 5 games and that can be tough to get back and not have the spirit at the club affected to get it back . Yes Adkins positivity is one of his strengths and the players have bought ion to the way he wants to play and what we what type of fottball we want to watch as fans .But did you not agree that Wigan was a wake up call . A reality check for us and the depth and limitations we are at this moment ?
This is the prem not div 1 and getting back in the pack after 5 games wont be the same as getting back a 10 point deduction we did in league 1.
Do you honestly think we are not short of the premier players we need to combat the immediate teams around us that we will be battling against for relegation this season ? Watch the Wigan game again mate .

I really hope that this new striker we have brung in is not a replasment for lambert?! because you canot reaplease lambert can u?

All you Southampton fans make me laugh thinking hes a star striker and blackburn need to get their head out of the clouds. we spent 11 years in the prem i doubt you'll last 4 seasons without relegation. anyway we will be back up before long so we could be playing you sooon.

Crystal Palace are close to signing Swansea striker Stephen Dobbie for around 700 grand

7OOK for Dobbie?? And the rest!!!

Definately wont be happening!

Will be amazed if you get him that cheap. Very good player.

27 Aug 2012 10:16:15
Crystal Palace are about to announce the signing of Stephen Dobbie for a fee of around £700,000.

Wont be able to afford his wages!

27 Aug 2012 10:12:01
Chris Powell to be busy in the next week ,these are the deals the Charlton Manager potentially has lined up :

In

Luke Young QPR Loan
Conor Henderson Arsenal Loan
John Bostock and / or Dean Parrett Spurs Loan
Stephen Quinn Sheffield United £750K
Jordan Spence West Ham (part exchange for Solly)
Dany N'Guessan Millwall ( £100K )
Nigel Reo-Cocker Free Agent (former team mate of Powell's at West Ham )

Out
Chris Solly West Ham £3.5M up front plus add ons and a player in exchange
Danny Green Swindon £300 K
Scott Wagstaff Nottm Forest £300 K
Leon Clarke Oldham 50 K

There is meleage in SOME of this. Can't see the Luke Young deal, we already have 2 full backs in both positions. We have looked at Bostock before - he isn't good enough. We are certainly in the market for another central midfield player, so the Parrett or Reo Coker deals have got legs. We certainly expect Clarke to go this week, then another will come in, probably N'Guessan. I have it on good authority there is no way they will sell Solly now, would only consider if they get relegated AND he wants to go, both of which is unlikely.

Im a charlton fan and these wont happen! dont embarrass us!

The only ones that are possible are Clarke, nguessan and a CM?

Would love to see Quinn but that doesn't look likely

In

Luke Young QPR Loan - Won't happen
Conor Henderson Arsenal Loan - It has legs, the most likely of of the lot mentioned here.
John Bostock and / or Dean Parrett Spurs Loan - Bostock and Parrett both not good enough
Stephen Quinn Sheffield United £750K - Would love him but probably can't afford him
Jordan Spence West Ham (part exchange for Solly) - Well the Solly deal is a myth
Dany N'Guessan Millwall ( £100K ) - Its down to N'Guessan. We won't up our bid so its us or Weds.
Nigel Reo-Cocker Free Agent (former team mate of Powell's at West Ham ) - Seriously? I've got one reason why he won't come here - WAGES!!

Out
Chris Solly West Ham £3.5M up front plus add ons and a player in exchange - a myth
Danny Green Swindon £300 K - No way
Scott Wagstaff Nottm Forest £300 K - Not happening as it was sparked by a misprint on the back of the Birmingham programme where he wasn't listed on thir at all
Leon Clarke Oldham 50 K - Possible

The only one I can see is the N'Guessan deal as he is so desperate to leave Millwall but I would love to see Quinn come to the Valley

No way in the world , we wouldn't ruin our team unity for individuals and then possibly go down think again although ngeussan could sign

Please please please get rid of scott wagstaff.. he is useless, a terrible player!

Wagstaff is a good player as a winger

Wagstaff is a quality player you complete muppet! He gives 100% I will be sad too see him go. We have a great youth set up and it will only get better

Expect a lot of ins and outs at Villa this week .
Ins;
Berbatov
Ince
C Gardner
Downing/Adams(loan)

Out;
Warnock Sunderland
Hutton Stoke/Newcastle
Bannan (loan) Blackpool
Delafonso (Loan) Brighton

UTV

Ince and bannan are not going anywhere

Adams going to Stoke rumours are stoke have already put a bid in

Who is Adams in other news I wouldn't be surprised if Charlie ADAM moved on after liverpool's recent signings.

I dont think stoke will want adam if they sign edu and huddlestone because they will have 9 centre mids then

Why would Villa sell 2 fullbacks and not even buy 1 new one.

Wee Barry was great for us in our promotion season but he's a midfielder, we've got umpteen of them.

I wouldn't have thought Villa could afford Thomas Ince tbh

27 Aug 2012 09:34:56
Quite a few rumours on Wearside that Clint Dempsey is on the verge of signing for Sunderland. Seemingly American owner Ellis Short is desperate to sign one of the best players to come out of the USA, boosting the clubs profile over in the states?

I'd love to have Dempsey.. he can play different positions and can score.. 17 goals last term for Fulham in Premier league games and has been player of the year in Fulham for two years in a row now..

27 Aug 2012 09:30:48
Southampton are interested in left back, Boilesen, from ajax and blackburn want lambert for £4m 4x the amount we brought him from bristol rovers but wont happen

Maybe when Lambert turns 40 we'll sell him for 4 million.

Love to see boilesen come in. Young and can play at left back or centre back. Just the player we are looking for

Heard good things about Boilesen. 5mill being quoted which sounds a lot. But quality is quality. Hope this one happens.

Blackburn are a small club lambert won't go there

27 Aug 2012 09:46:48
Benson set for Shrewsbury Dicannio yet anither fall out.
Where will this al end.Expect Dicannio will also depart as he has had several offers from higher Division although MK Dons are also keen on his services.

Cant see any club othering DI CANIO a job as hes a nutter and sulks A LOT

Benson is exactly the kind of striker we need at shrewsbury but if the rumours are true and that he will leave Swindon it is far morely likely he will join MKD as they are closer to London

Benson Would be a great striker at MKD someone who would actually be consistant in front of goal. SIGN HIM UP ROBBO!

He wont join MK Dons

Mk dons have ryan lowe

Jordan rhodes signing for Middlesbrough once emnes completes move to Swansea, Harry kewell and Romeo castelan to complete mowbrays spending, utb

Boro fan here n there's not a chance on earth Rhodes is coming to us! It would take quadruple his value to transfer him anywhere from Huddersfield n Middlesbrough wil get 6mil max for emnes n half that wil go in gibbos pocket do not a chance mate!

Note to all Championship clubs. HTFC chairman and manager have made it very clear - Jordan will only leave to go to a Premiership club. Middlesbrough and Blackburn are - despite what their fans may think - not Premiership clubs.

I am a huge Boro fan and I can honestly say I would love Rhodes to sign for us, but its all fantasy. Boro could not afford the transfer fee.

As a boro fan I wouldn't want him at our club mate n I don't think Mowbray would either so I think hell still be playing for htfc in L1 next season (where Rhodes and htfc belong) n as a boro fan I know what league my club is in we are now an established championship club just as htfc is an established L1 club despite what htfc fans think!

Also just to add to that Blackburn are an established PL club n it'll take 3 years outside pl to change that status. Blackburn fc and Middlesbrough fc, ARE, ALWAYS have been n ALWAYS will be much much bigger clubs than Huddersfield FACT!

Errrrmmm no he is not

I cant see Boro letting Emnes go with so little time left in the window it would be Madness any 1 agree?

Supposedly if we did let Emnes go it'd be because we have replacements lined up immediately.

I will eat as many hats as my belly will take if Rhodes is that replacement though.

Haha, always have been? Admittedly Blackburn are evidently a bigger club than Town now, can't say the same for Middlesborough. But I don't remember either of them winning the top division 3 times in a row, do you? (Regardless of the fact it was in the 1920s as you said "always"). Get your facts right 'Boro fan' before you badmouth a highly respected club

Sensing a fair bit of sourness from Blackburn and Boro fans. can't understand the hostility from Boro fans though, you guys are in a much better position as a club than Cackburn

Where's this jordan rhodes coming from boro not interested we need experience for our young squad not potential never played championship football until now we've wasted enough money over the years on gambles so no chance coming boro give him a full season for huddersfield see how many goals he gets and watch his price go down thanx but no thanx utb

Joe bennet goin to villa 3mill

Jordan Rhodes is the Nephew of Steve Agnew, maybe that has something to do with it? Can't see it to be honest but stranger things have happened...!

It'll reach about 4.5 with add ons because of his age n an academy product! I would take the money n never look back because he does have a lot of potential but he still shows inexperience in nearly every game he plays even though he has featured in most games over the past 2 seasons. If u look at the goals conceded last season they were mostly from the left on the counter because joe was out of position from attacking n we need defensive minded players at the back if wer going to be successful this season IMHO

Put it this way from a boro fan we would need to dig deep and we cant afford it as well huddersfield wouldnt loan either be good but keep wishing :)

Cant see rhodes deal happening tbh but if we sell bennett and emnes you never know football and especially the boro over the years always surprises us

Let Emnes go , and Bennett to --will be good business for Boro, Rhodes would be welcome , but highly unlikely. Mowbray is a wheeler dealer, and will only bring players he wants. Boro will be there or there abouts at end of season. And HTFC will be higher than BRFC (i think lol)

Note to all htfc fans Rhodes going to Blackburn (championship team)

27 Aug 2012 08:51:47
Aston Villa are considering swapping Stephen Warnock for WBA's Jerome Thomas

27 Aug 2012 08:43:04
Oldham are set to make an improved bid for Charlton outsider Leon Clarke

You can have him for free.

We would take him for free but we don't have any money for an improved offer.

I really hope so as i see him as vital if Oldham want to remain in Lg 1.

REALLY?!?!? vital?!?!? to oldham have who's going to supply the goals to leon! oldham has no central midfield were is the point in another striker

If Stephens goes to villa you have a 10 odd % sell on clause, which should get you a nice 100-150k to buy Clarke :-)

Ruben Reed since leaving Oldham has now scored ten people said he was rubbish because he didn't score, Chris o'grady when he was at Oldham people said he was rubbish because he did score both players have moved on and are scoring why? Because they are getting the supply from good midfielders! We need to sign good CM midfielders fast!

This is the third post about needing new centre mids. Seriously? Have you actually seen our team sheet? Have you paid any attention to our transfers/contract renewals over the summer?

I reiterate, if there is one place we do NOT need to strengthen, it is CENTRE MIDFIELD!!

Bring on the proven goalscorer and centre half - Tarkowski not good enough

Furman out on international duty for 2 weeks and welososki injured still reckon will do well in midfield? We have 4 strikers why do we need another!

27 Aug 2012 08:32:54
Boro will sell McDonald and Emnes this week and frazer Campbell will sign season long loan, also talk of Joey Barton should his France move stall. very much a rumour but I can't confirm boro have also enquired about downing returning...

27 Aug 2012 08:10:50
dennis wise is set to have talks with coventry in the next 48 hours over the managerial position. city were impressed with how he did with leeds in same laugue and how he impressed at the age of 35 as a player for the club.

27 Aug 2012 07:50:29
Gaston ramirez is set to sign for southampton subject to a medical and a work permit

Everything crossed. He's class!

Let it go ..- if we wanted to join Saints he would have been here by now ..hes fishing for a bigger club .

"let it go.....". All reports this evening suggest he is currently sorting a work permit in Rome and will sign in the next 48hrs. Do you feel like a bit of a wally?

"Let it go ..- if we wanted to join Saints he would have been here by now ..hes fishing for a bigger club ."

This is wrong. He's not here because the clubs haven't been able to agree a fee yet. Keep up.

So what is it that we need to do to get him here ?
We need him for sure and we have 4 days left of the window . Make it happen Saints .

We need gaston but I think we should get somone with prm xp

27 Aug 2012 06:30:26
ipswich news.. Jewell out and Matty Holland as manager...heard it here first! i have a very strong source.......

Sure you do.

27 Aug 2012 03:31:27
Huddersfield Town manager Simon Grayson hopes to land Dundee United striker Johnny Russell, despite the £2m price tag, with the Tannadice club keen to cash in before the 22-year-old is out of contract in the summer.

Grayson also wants United winger Gary Mackay-Steven but might have to settle for one of his two targets.

Can see clubs trying to keep them in Scotland at those prices. Two very good young players

Johnny Russel is contracted to United until 2014.

Russell to Huddersfield = Rhodes to Celtic

Looks like he is going to Everton.

Think you'll find it'd be: Russell to Huddersfield = Celtic have to find another striker target as Huddersfield have both of their first choice ones

Russell is going to the Premier League (Everton), but we remain interested in him.

27 Aug 2012 03:04:15
Stoke are going to Bid 5m for Liverpool Midfielder Charlie Adam, The midfielder has found himself left out of Brendan Rodgers plans, although he has expressed his desire to stay with Liverpool. Also Pulis is still keen to add Free Agent and Ex England Star Micheal Owen to his squad and Kenwyne Jones could be on his way to West Ham and Pulis is considering a 10m bid for Striker Jermain Defoe, as he is keen to link him up with his old team mate Crouch!

He's mince. Failed to do anything since leaving Blackpool.

Stoke are in for Huddlestone and are already quite well stocked in midfield.

27 Aug 2012 02:58:56
If Goran Popovs Work Permit is turned down after appeal Stoke are going to table a 5m bid for Blackburn Left Back Martin Olsson

We need a rt bk. Wilko is a liability. Gives away too many free kicks in dangerous areas.

Stoke should take a look at either Emilio Izaguire at Celtic, or Lee Wallace at Rangers, both cheapers than 5m and v.good LBs

Apparently Maurice Edu (CM for Rangers) has played a fair few matches at RB for USA? Would satisfy Pulis' square pegs - round holes policy. Mind you, if it's good enough for Jurgen?......

Wilko is a decent RB i wouldnt drop him he is a committed defender who does give a way free kicks but as we saw against arsenal literally puts his head on the line

Maurice edu plays midfield for rangers and USA but he has partnered with cameron in central defence for USA not sure he plays at right back

This popov deal is taking some time tbh

27 Aug 2012 02:52:53
DM has said he hasn't finished in the transfer market! We all know that he is looking for a commanding right sided defender (Monk) is a potential target. Also the deal for DJ Campbell hasn't ended as it is increasing likely that Pitman will be on the way out after the arrival of Davies and Baldock. Another player leaving will be, Damion Stewart. With Joe Bryan and Joe Edwards out on loan.
COYR CTID BCFC

Quite believable also nothing happening with Buzsacky so he could end up signing for free on transfer deadline day? Bristol City !!

27 Aug 2012 02:05:01
Walsall are close to securing the loan signings of
Defender Joe Edwards from Bristol City and striker James Spencer from Huddersfield

Good signings

*jimmy spencer, and hes been on the bench every match this year, so hopefully that means a new striker to replace?!

Jimmy Spencer has started on bench every game so far and even started in the first 11 against Preston dont think he will be leaving pal

The same Spencer who agreed a one year extension?

27 Aug 2012 01:33:28
Darren Fletcher due to join Sunderland on a season long loan deal from Manchester United with a view to a permenant deal in the summer. Loan fee of £1.9m already agreed between the clubs and all thats left is for minor details to be ironed out between Fletcher and Sunderland. Fletcher himself is confident deal can be completed within the next 24 hours.

Why would we buy Fletcher even though he is good he has been out injured for nearly a year, he has only recently started training again but still has the problem he was out with.

That is already has been completed

Not sure about him going Sunderland he was in the directors box at stoke yesterday plus if he moved to stoke he wouldn't have to move house

Are i only reason he's not in Man United squad was he was seriously ill and hes just getting back to training he'l be at Man U for rest of his carer

Funny that's as he was at the Britannia stadium yesterday having a medical

Dont believe it for a second. He's on a recovery mission.. not an injury recovery, a life recovery. Cannot see him playing this season at all. Maybe a cameo in the last game

Not for SAFC I hope long time out the game surley MON will not want him North Shields Mackems! FTM!

27 Aug 2012 01:20:00
Sanchez Watt arrived at Carlisle Train Station today and was met by Eric Kinder, was told he's signing tomorrow but not sure whether on loan or permanent......

He's not coming deal off

This rumour interests me as we have seen clear indications of this transfer and has been mentioned in the news and star a paper which does not often get its rumours wrong.

No this one is right I believe the deal stalled but is back on and like said he is expected to sign tomorrow on a permanent deal.

27 Aug 2012 01:09:22
WOLVES To Attempt Loan Signing Of Spurs Defender Danny Rose If Steven Ward Leaves... Everton Boss David Moyes Considering Move For Ward.

And what makes you think that he would drop down to a club of your size and level ?

Aww a touchy spurs fan and it did say possible attempt! not sign and maybe people who also said sol campbell would not sign to his arch rivals team when on free years ago were also wrong but never say never

What's wrong with a young player dropping a division in order to gain experience and obtain regular football?

27 Aug 2012 01:05:33
Martin Olsson to sign a 4 year deal for wba on Tuesday , also george thorne will be loblackpaned out to blackpool on on year loan.

Nope he's signing for Southampton ... He's been training with them last two days

Why would aBlackpool want another mmidfielder. We are inundated

That's got to be painfull.

27 Aug 2012 00:50:09
From a source at the PL Darren fletcher is up in Sunderland for a medical as he wants first team action this is a suprise buy as no one is expecting this..... Watch this space

27 Aug 2012 00:43:48
I heard news that the saints have agreed terms with bologna over Ramirez, according to reports in Italy, work permit expected by Thursday will have a medical between now and then.

Happy saints fan:)

Hearing lots of reports confirming this - no smoke without fire!

27 Aug 2012 00:22:02
Stoke are considering a shock bid for Bologna Midfielder Gaston Ramirez

Haha no they're not! Not a Stoke city target also deal to sign him is so complex due to third party ownership it would take two weeks at least to arrange .... Will not sign for stoke!

If this is true then TP is a genius!

Good that means saints can move on

On verge of signing for southampton fee agreed medical happening now in italy.

Why would Stoke get a good midfielder? They hoof it straight to the strikers without the midfielders doing anything

More to the point, we are overloaded in midfield and need to move some out before we move some in

Goin to southampton

Stoke wouldnt they have glenn whelan who is good at collecting the ball and passing it and so is geoff cameron he i a creative midfielder who gets stuck in and for the guy who said we hoof it every single team plays long balls every team yesterday i saw arsenal play long balls so GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!
