Plymouth Argyle youngster Jack Stephens has turned down the chance to play with Fulham by saying " I would like to learn my trade here in Plymouth because it is my home ". Ed - Terry will still be the foundation in defence and whilst David Luiz has been an amazing signing, he is still so young and Terry has surpassed 30. Mexes is seen as the ideal player to join up with Terry and Luiz and provide a future pairing after Terry has gone. For a team with so much money and ambition, surely you don't expect Alex to be the depth in such an important position. Chelsea have agreed at board level the following targets for the summer.
Drogba, Bosingwa, Anelka and Obi Mikel all set to leave.
1. Phillips Mexes - Roma - is the number one target to partner John Terry. Willing to pay £20m
2. Javier Pastore - Palermo - is seen as the attacking flair to ignite Torres into fireworks. Willing to pay £40m
3. Kaka - Real Madrid - is seen as the perfect player to sit behind Torres in a 4-4-1-1 formation. Willing to pay £40m for his services.
4. Lukaku - Anderlecht - will join the likes of Torres and Kaka and unite the most potent attacking force in the premiership. Willing to pay £28m.
5. Hamsik - Napoli - is seen as a powerhouse in midfield and one to take over the mantle of Michael Essien. Willing to pay £23m.
Watch this space as Chelsea reaffirm there position in the league and Europe.
