"ASTON VILLA boss Gerard Houllier is determined to sign Michael Carrick – even though the midfielder insists he wants to stay at Old Trafford for life.

Houllier sees a classy midfielder as a Villa Park priority . . and Carrick fits the bill, despite suffering the worst year of his career."

--------------------------------------------
i want actual words from houlliers mouth.(15)(3)

Houllier has publicly said that he thinks Carrick is a classy midfielder and also said that Villa need a classy midfielder. Could he make it any more obvious he has an interest in Carrick?

you talk carp. show me what he said. your getting mixed up with owen. houllier said in public he likes owen but not carrick

Villa to sell carew in january but will bring in Owen and Gervinho in. Houllier is also looking at bringing in a cm and maybe another winger.

Villa to do alot in jan because they didn't buy in the summer. they would of done but Oneill walked out so they could not get anyone. Lerner and Houllier both know they need to players to push on(8)(7)

Can't reveal my source but Walsall Fc have contacted Paul Ince abt his availability to become the next Saddlers manager, this was prior to their recent defeat to Tranmeare, Ince though has been dragging his feet with ref to giving them an answer so Walsall will no look to martin Allen(11)(4)

Looking more likely that Portsmouth will stay in business - good luck to them!

Also, Burton Albion are to sign Charisma Agbonlahor from Alvechurch. He is the brother of Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor.(5)(11)

The fact that people are claiming Llorente would move to United is preposterous. Real Madrid are the front runners to sign him and in terms of the name, there isn't a bigger club in the world than the Spanish giants. Also, with Benzema leaving in the Summer it means Llorente would be higher up the pecking order.
Again, if Ferguson decides to opt for Affellay before Alexis Sanchez then he isn't as smart as we thought. Alexis Sanchez is a remarkable talent and could walk into any European team on his day. Again, Madrid have declared a strong interest as a long term partnership on the wing with Di Maria but Barcelona are also admirerers.
Personally, any one who thinks United still have the pulling power they used to are deluded. The glory days are gone and the real reason behind Rooney's new contract is to allow United to gain more in terms of transfer money from the potential buyer as a player with a 5 year contract is worth one hell of a lot more than someone with a year and a half or whatever it may be. Rooney will be gone in the Summer, if not, next Summer.

Steven Defour -10m- in for Carrick who will leave to join Villa for a similar amount (Gerard Houllier has already said he admires Carrick)

if you think villa will pay 10 mill for carrick you can think again. villa won't waste there money.

Makoun is a target for houllier. kranjcar is and so is gervinho

Just a few Manchester United rumours which may happen:

It seems that Rooney has been assured there will be new investment into the squad, so this must mean that SAF has money to spend. I don't see them spending particularly big in January but I feel these could happen in the summer:

De Gea - 10m- or Lindenburg(Spelling?)-5m- or Afineev -free in the summer- to replace Van de Sar (Retiring)

Mexes in on a free as experienced cover because of Ferdianand's injury problems (Mexes won't mind too much about being 3rd choice centre back - he hasn't exactly always been a first pick at Roma, however he will still play a reasonable amount of games because of Rio's injury)

Jack Rodwell - 16m- as a long term replacement for Owen Hargreaves/ Paul Scholes. (Will be loaned back to Everton for a season as part of the deal)

Steven Defour -10m- in for Carrick who will leave to join Villa for a similar amount (Gerard Houllier has already said he admires Carrick)

Ibrahim Afellay -Free? (I think his contract runs out in the summer, not sure though? If not around 8m will be paid for him) Also looking at Sanchez is they miss out on Afellay

Berbatov has to prove himself as a goalscorer this season or he will be sold. Replacing him could be either Dzeko - 25m+- or Llorente -18m- or Huntelaar -17m-

Hi ed who do you think will be new manager and who would you choose as new manager

{Editor's Note: I personally expect that Roy Hodgson will stay, at least through Christmas, and then, if he goes, perhaps Frank Rijkaard. In terms of who I would choose, Claude Puel would be fantastic.}

I heard that united are set to sell big names including Wes Brown RET Michael Carrick 18 mill, Anderson 12Mill and Beratov 25 mill.
so SAF would have the set 50 mill from the Glazers
plus 55 mill from players out So he will have 105 milll to splash out on players which include Pato, Defour, Neur, Garerth Bale and Javier Pastore he would be given more money from Glazer if Needed(8)(32)

The Rooney saga was all made up and he was never going to leave old trafford.
The whole drama was a cunning effort by ferguson to detract media attention from Rooneys personal life as it was affecting his onfield form.

Will Rooney bounce back after this or will he continue playing poorly.(28)(21)

SAF has 50M to spend in january.
And the list of players will go on as usual.
There are many managers on this site. . again as usual.

we all know defour would be one of the signings in january. The only reason he was not signed in Summer was Owen Hargreaves, and report claims he is still struggling with his injury.

And if we see the current squad Scholes, Giggs, G.Neville and VDS all these would be retired at the end of this season.

So the replacement would be in Summer and not in january because of the Rule of 25 members squad.

There will be only 2 signings.one is Defour and two (long list).
And There is a chance of getting a GK.
Because Kuszczak wants to be the number 1 GK, and he is not that good to be no 1.
So a new GK might be brought and he will be experimented before giving him No 1 shirt after VDS retires.
And we might get a better one in summer as a potential replacement for VDS.

And united needs strong squad.
They have been horrible in opening 8 games. they need to find a top class player who can be consistent goal scorer. The current squad is horrible, out of form and Lazy cocks.

Roy Hodgson has been told his job is safe and he will have £40m to spend in January plus sales and Roy wants to bring in Ashley Young, Fernando Llorente and Gary Cahill while the likes of Ryan Babel, Sotiris Krygiakos, Maxi Rodriguez and Charles Itandje are expected to leave the club. Roy is also looking to fund two big moves in the summer for Daniele de Rossi and Gareth Bale.If Liverpool can acquire some or all of these players and manage to hold onto Fernando Torres then things will certainly be looking up on merseyside.(7)(34)

Sheikh Mansour the man who has spent a few quid at Man City is actually a Man Utd fan!

This is his grand plan to put Man City out of business, he gonna quit at the end of the season and leave Man City in financial meltdown with a massive wage bill they can afford and players on long massive contracts.

You watch - it's not the first time I've been told this

I am a bit confused by the Babajide Ogunbiyi to ManU rumours. I played against him in college. While I agree that he has the potential to play ANYWHERE, I cannot imagine he is ready for the likes of ManU yet. He is like a skinnier more athletic version of Oguchi Onyewu but with a lower football IQ. If and when he does learn he will be much better. But I don't see it yet. I would like to see a transfer to Ajax or PSV Eindhoven or Auxerre before he goes to ManU. But maybe he is a Bébé type to SAF. Hmmmm. .(2)(12)

How do we arrive at such a ridiculous figure of 250k per week? i thought football was a performance sport and a major chunk should be performance based so i feel rooney should be on a 150k + 50k performance bonus.

N ya i do not believe rooney will end up being at utd beyond 2011. Cant blame him coz he is only being professional. is it a crime?(4)(7)

Man United have convinced Rooney that there will be investment into the club in the next two windows.he needed the glazers themselves in person to convince him.in January these players will be bought to strengthen a bit.1.MANUEL NEUR-main target right now to replace Van der Sar.Schalke is in the bottom 3, and he will surely be looking for a way out in January. 2.STEVEN DEFOUR-Sir Alex's dream, he's looking to make it come true in January, as none of our midfielders is capable of Keane's role.not playing in Europe as well, would be eligeble for UCL. 3.AFELLAY-PSV released a statement this week that he will be sold in January as he has only 8 months remaining on his contract.they failed to agree a contract extension.he also said he wanted to play for United(source goal.com/ caughtoffside.com) 4.ALEXIS SANCHEZ-cristiano Ronaldo at his best.he will be bought simply to add more flare and competition for places in the squad.he will be given the no.7 shirt.Nani will stay with no.17 because it symbolises his birthday and he wants to create another legendary no. at United, beginning with him.wants to come to united, and sir alex admitted he's looking at him. NB-more players will come in the summer-De Gea, Per Metersacker, Mauricio Isla, aguero/ suarez, gourcuff/ kak'a, rodwell, jordan Henderson.this is a total of 12 players between now and June to come in.out between now and June-van der sar, wes brown, gary neville, scholes, giggs, carrick, park, owen, berbatov, anderson, hargreaves. Squad next season-1.neur 2.isla 3.evra 4.Mertersacker 5.ferdinand 6.defour 7.sanchez 8.gourcuff 9.aguero/ suarez 10.rooney 11.afellay 12.smalling 13.rodwell 14.hernandez 15.vidiç 16.henderson 17.nani 18.gibson 19.obertan 20.fabio 21.rafael 22.o'shea 23.j.evans 24.fletcher 25.valencia young players not to be registered but playing-de gea, b.amos, macheda, e.t.c(33)(51)
