To the person who posted this

Santa Cruz (£8mil), Adebayor(£14mil) are being offered around clubs for much less than what Man City paid. Chelsea might go for Adebayor as a much cheaper (not as good either) alternative to Fernando Torres. Man City are having a mass clear out. Barry, Ireland, Bridge, Richards, Onouha, m.Johnson are all available at the right price.

Why would City sell 6 British home grown players with the new rules coming in! I can see Bridge and Ireland being moved on.(Ireland is quality and should be starting in my opinion) Barry won't be sold! The others are young and will be very usefull squad players and Richards will eventually break into the first team and England team with his attributes, he just needs time to learn. Milner will most likely be bought in to boost the homegrown quota as everyone already knows. Kolorov signing will be settled within a week. Adebayor will stay also because apart from Tevez they havent got another top out and out striker. Even if ballotelli comes Adebayor will still stay.

I believe a few more overpriced signings will come in to just to boost certain positions as City are trying to quite clearly model themselves on Barcelona and have 2 very good players in each position. 1 huge name to be bought in, possibly Ronaldinho.

Im only talking common sense. (Editor what do you think on my views)

"The transfer merry–go–round has started

Mascherano Liverpool – Inter Milan £28 Million
Ngog Liverpool – West Brom £6.5 Million
Degen Liverpool – Stuttgart £1.7 million
Plessis & Kyriagkos raisin £4 million for the pair

Possible ins:
Huntelaar £10 million
Bridge £5 million
Richards £7 milion
Young £14 million + Ryan Babel

James Milner Villa – City £32 million
Stephen Ireland City – Villa £8 million

Robbie Keane Spurs – Villa £ 10 Million

Stiephen Pienaar Everton – Villa £13 million

Aidan McGeady Celtic– Villa £12 million

let me know what you think."

Alright.. Let's see.

Richards would cost more than 7m, you have no chance of getting Young. Keane would cost 6m, we don't want Pienaar, McGeady would cost 8–10m.
Plessis is worth 700k, the Greek maybe 1.5–2m.
Ngog has a 6m price on his head. Degen might be sold for at most 1m.

So, you're batting 0. Though editor did tell me consistency is the best policy.(17)(31)

To be honest i don't think arsenal chelsea or united will sign alot more this summer.Arsenal may get a defender most likely jagielka. United will get a midfielder probabaly ninis.
Chelsea will buy a defender and a midfielder.Ramires a possibility or neymar?
Expect United and arsenals signings to be late in the window as arsene and alex are alike. They will buy early or late .For example Chanmk(spelling) hernandez and smalling all bought early.

United also bought berbatov on the last day of the window and nani and anderson were bought on 2 july.

Alex is very smart and knows what hes doing hes been around along time.

Newcastle Utd set to make shock swoop for Real Madrid wideman Royston Drenthe. After being rebuffed in their efforts to sign holding midfielder Mahamadou Diarra, who is staying to fight for his place at the bernebeau, tentative enquiries have found that Drenthe is deemed surplus to requirements after madrid obtained the services of Angel Di Maria & Sergio Canales to bulk there left sided options.

Richard Dunne has been joking today saying that Villa will have the whole Irish team sooner or later that is after hearing of Martin O Neill's interest in Aiden McGeady, Robbie Keane and Stephen Ireland.Manchester City are offering Shaun Wright Phillips, Stephen Ireland and £14million for James Milner which I think is a great deal for Villa and they should really jump at this.Martin O Neill is also looking to bring in former gunner Mathieu Flamini to play central midfield .Liverpool are said to be offering £20m for Ashley Young.I am an Aston Villa fan and would would like to see Milner and Young stay but if the money isn't their and we can get these players I would let both of them leave we will actually have a much stronger squad, we lost our two best players last season{Gareth Barry and Martin Laursen} and still had a great season and I think we can go one better and maybe break the top four if we get these lads in so Out–James Milner and Ashley Young In–Robbie Keane, Stephen Ireland, Shaun Wright–Phillips, Mathieu Flamini and Aiden McGeady this will add a lot of strength and maybe sign one or two more if we have money left over from the sales and as I said I would prefer to see them stay an buy a few players but their is a lack of funds if we can do these deals I would as we will be giving two out and getting five in.The team looked tired towards the end of the season.(34)(45)

Someone ITK on a Liverpool forum suggesting that a deal is close to fruition between Liverpool and Inter which will see Masch go to Italy and Samuel Eto'o + £15m come to Anfield.

Don't believe it myself tbh, but thought I'd share it on the off chance.

the beleivable part of this lies in the point that etoo is essentially everything that benitez doesn't look for in a striker. an out and out goalscorer who most of his career has scored for fun but not been renowned for doing much else. i say this because of his similarity to michael owen who he allowed to leave lfc and never had any intention of re–signing him on a few occasions.
feasibly possible? maybe(39)(29)

Luis Suarez is being left out of training / pre season matches by Ajax, for an undetermined time; lot of talk going on about a move to Man Utd.
Huntelaar desperate to sign soon (for whoever wants to pay for him and offers first team football); European football is not a must for KJ, playing time is.
ED: any truth to the rumor that Gregory vd Wiel is on the radar of L'pool / Man Utd, now that his transfer to Bayern has fallen through? {editor's note – I have heard nothing about any interest from Liverpool, but Utd have watched him in the past so it is possible.}(31)(36)

Ive seen some shay given rumours floating about but he will NOT be moving as he is still recovering from a shoulder injury.
in other news arsenal target gui assulin has failed to turn up to his trial at blackburn.
former arsenal star alexander hleb has been made available to fulham and newcastle for £3 million, while dan gosling has completed his move to the toon army.
sol campbells move to sunderland is unlikely now due to the signing of titus bramble, campbell may become arsenals last defensive signing of the summer but celtic have also offered him a 2 year contract along with david james.
james milner will complete his move to man city by the start of the season while shaun wright phillips will most probably become surplus to requirments.
also sebastian giovinco(juventus) is available for 5million which will alert arsenal, parma and palermo.
summary:

Big Clear out at Melwood.

Cavalieri, Degen, Kyrgiakos, Insua, Riera, Babel, ngog and Masch leaving.

Bridge/Figuero/Salcido/Pjanic to replace Insua
Kelly replaces Degen
Wilson replaces Greek
Turan replaces Riera
Aguero replaces Ngog
Milner replaces Mascherano

Milner has just handed in a transfer request. The rumours of Aguero handing in a transfer request are wrong but not as far wrong as you all think.

Aguero wants this move and so does Torres. Torres wants BIG signings and this is what is happening.

The wage bill is the only problem. Aslong as Aguero brings down his wage demands to a max of 120 roughly per week the deal WILL happen. Otherwise its a no go.Purslow and Ian Ayre will be in Madrid after they visit Istanbul (Kenny just arrived back from Istanbul a few days ago)

Its going to be tight to fit this in financially! But this is what Hodgson wants and Gerrard and Cole are well aware of these plans in place and Purslow is believe it or not doing a great job in convincing these players to come to Anfield.
Hodgson wants players with commitment and a great desire to play for LFC aswell as boost the english quota at Anfield (Hodgson wanted Warnock but Villa quoted Purslow a ridiculous fee)

All is good, trust me! Investment will NOT come this window! It will be announced 1–2 months after window shuts! Good news all round though!!(34)(38)

Walter smith said a few weeks ago that it would probably be August before Rangers brought in new players.
Which is the reason I said on this site a few days ago that Rangers wanted players out the door first so that Walter knew exactly what his funds for new players were.
I also said that Rangers wanted to save on wages whilst doing this, and that they have already saved probably over £500,000 in doing so.
I believe this is a canny approach by Walter smith as it helps his budget in times when money is tight.

Today in the Daily record Martin Bain confirmed this, and I urge Rangers fans not to panic just yet, as I said before 3 new decent signings means we still have a ggood enough squad to win the spl again.
If Kenny miller and boughera are sold it wouldn't be the end of the world but only if they replaced them, so 3 new signings would need to become 5.

When I look at the standard of players who have left celtic compared to the standard they have brought in I don't think they will be any better, however they might surprise us with a good signing yet.
If Walter keeps the squad of winners he has now and adds 3 good players then it's a case of Walter in the blue corner and Lennon in the green corner..I know who my moneys on.(34)(35)

Breaking Arsenal News.

On Wednesday Ivan Gazidis and Agent Guerra agreed a deal for Loic Remy for £10.9million pounds!!

However this has now been put on hold as CSKA have said to Arsenal that they can buy HONDA for £15million. As a big fan Arsene Wenger is now deciding who to buy to replace dudu??

Shawarzer and Handovic will not be coming to Arsenal! The deal with Fiorentina was agreed last week! £8million

Mexes will not be arriving either his wage demands of 90k are too much for a 29yr old. instead Mertersecker will be joining next week for £12million and 50k a week!! Arsene really tried for Jagielka but anythng more then £14million for a player who has no cl exp or international is too much(more then 5caps)

other news, when Lille played Liverpool, Arsenal met their officals and thrashed out a deal for Hazard to join in january.Arsenal have already paid a downpayment of £4million with the remaining £14million to be paid in Janaury

I think one of these is believeable and that is Honda
I think Wenger would choose him over Remy(20)(26)

Editor, about your comment regarding Stephen Carr and Nathaniel Clyne.

Stephen Carr was IMO one of the top right backs in the league last season, and was never given any praise or anything! Clyne has the potential, but still needs experience at the top level before he can be a first choice.

As for Blues ins, from what I understand, the four more that McLeish wants are :

Moussa Dembele – £5m
Nathaniel Clyne – £2m
Charles N'Zogbia – £10m (McLeish is hoping Wigan's stance on him softens as they sign more players)
Paul Konchesky – £2.5m

We have bid for Chilean, Humberto Suazo, but he's seen more as a back up option for if the Dembele deal falls through.. he's also looking into the domestic loan route which served us so well last season with Joe Hart.. with apparently a loan move being lined up for Vladimir Weiss, as City appreciate the job we done with Joe Hart last season {editor's note – I am sorry but you need to take those blue tinted specs off mate. Carr gives everything, he is not a bad player, but he will never be a top player, not even close. He is your very own version of Kuyt.}(7)(6)

INTER

Inter Milan waiting for Balotelli deal to go through before making moves for Dirk Kuyt and Mascherano. Masch will definetely happen not so sure about
Kuyt though as he committed his future to the Reds, but if he is seen as surplus to requirements he shall go.

AC MILAN

AC Milan also expect talks to commence in the next few days regarding Ryan Babel, whether Huntelaar comes into the equation I'm not sure. Ronaldinho will jeave it just depends on if they can find a buyer. He didn't leave as wages were too much. If he does expect a move for Ibrahimovic from AC.

KLOSE

Klose to stay put even though 2 offers from premiership clubs were rejected.

REAL MADRID

Raul has already signed 2 year deal with Schalke, 6 million euros gross. As I've also previously mentioned Ozil is apparently all but sewn up with Real Madrid. Mourinho placed a 16 million euro offer on the table a week or 2 ago for him, he's been waiting for Ozil to return from holidays in Turkey before discussing terms with him. Mourinho did the same with Sami Khedira (5 year deal with contract until 2015, two million € net annual salary plus bonuses). Mario Gomez could also be on his way to Real as he was being lined up
as a replacement for Raul, with Van der Vaart part of the deal offered by Mourinho for him.

To clear up some Arsenal rumours: Wenger has always been reluctant to spend money unless it's to repace someone, eg Eduardo was brought in after Henry left. Other than replacements Wenger rarely splashes out. He's an accountant/economist it's understandable.

Chamakh was signed as Eduardo was going to be leaving mid summer as has now happened so it's very unlikely Arsenal will sign any more strikers ( most notably Remy) as they have Van Persie, Chamakh, Bendtner, Vela, Walcott and Arshavin who can all play in that area.

Likewise for midfield, it's unlikely anyone will be signed unless Fabregas leaves for an offer that's too good to refuse ( £40m or alike) Denilson, Diaby, Song, Ramsey (once he returns) and Rosicky are still at the club. The only possible move I reckon is if Rosicky is offloaded which i hope happens as he's past it.

In defense Campbell, Gallas, Silvestre have all left and Koscielny was signed leaving Vermaelen and Koscielny as both left footed CBs. Djourou is now back from injury so the only buy here will be a right footed CB, possibly Jagielka from Everton as he's English. If not him them definetly a right sided CB.

Lastly, in goals i believe Frey or Joe Hart will be signed. Boruc is a first choice Keeper (celtic and poland) and left celtic for fiorentina recently, which i doubt was to play on the bench considering he's never done that. Frey was linked with villa, but his agent said no contact had been made, he DIDN'T say he wasn't for sale, and neither have Fiorentina. so Frey may join arsenal.

If not then Joe Hart is English and City may look to offload. Schwarzer is too old and arsenal would only offer him a 1 year deal due to the fact he's over 30 which is a policy of wengers.(20)(20)

"Craig Bellamy

Right lets clear this up with all the rumours, celtic have approached man city, for 1year loan deal. i repeat we are not buying him. But offered a loan deal for the player.

Craig Bellamy has said officially that he will not go to another epl team or move abroad. FACT. you can even google it and find it on bbc/sport.

So for all these people saying he of to west ham, tottenham, newcastle unitied. stop talking nonsence.

He will not go to another epl team.

He will finish his career with cardiff. FACT.

CELTIC have offered to pay 70percent of his wages. the deal is looking promising, but nothing be done in next few days, expect news begining of next week.

And reason Celtic have very good chance of getting player, is he was the player who talked joe ledley into joining celtic fc, also hartson has let slip about bellamy, you can google that too and see what he said FACT. also he did love his time with celtic fc when he was on loan and love the supporters. FACT. "

IF HE HAS SAID HE ISNT MOVING ABROAD, SURELY THAT RULES CELTIC OUT ASWELL? AS LAST TIME I LOOKED SCOTLAND WAS ANOTHER COUNTRY AND THEREFORE COUNTED AS ABROAD?

Forest fans need to keep their nerve. The deals are coming along nicely. I don't want to mention names, but progress has been made on the important positions. The market is generally slow this closed season, but the normal domino–effect will see deals concluded in days now. Here's what i've heard about Ozil to Man Utd..
The only thing that will spark a bid from Man Utd until the very last minute, is if another club officially offers Bremen the money they want. Otherwise i would expect Fergie to get him in the last few days of the window. He's being monitored but Fergie is also looking at Ninis for the role he needs to fill. I suspect sense will prevail and Utd will see the value in Ozil for €20million euros. I've heard fergie is willing to ride out the summer to see if anyone leaves OT (Vidic, Carrick) before making his mind up. Unless that is, an official bid is lodged for Ozil then Utd will match it.

Editor do you agree? I know you have previously said Utd can't afford him but i susepct they could at €20mill no??

Innes {editor's note – it would make sense, but I would have thought that if Fergie wanted him and had the money available he would have bought him by now.}(20)(23)

Lee Grant, Craig Dawson and Luke Varney all on Alan Pardews shortlist of players he would like to bring in.

Sheff Weds don't want to sell Grant to anyone especially a club in the same league but the offer from Southampton could be too much to resist for the debt–ridden club. £1m plus £250,000 after promotion as well as a sell–on clause. However Grant will only be bought in if young Polish goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski does not sign a new contract within the next week. Grant would be in goal for the season with PFA League One Goalkeeper of the year Kelvin Davis on the bench.

Craig Dawson desperately wants out of Rochdale and would jump at the chance to move to a club on the up, therefore Southampton will offer £500,000 plus £250,000 after promotion. Rochdale will reluctantly accept this knowing that they will likely get the £250,000 at the end of the season as Southampton are likely to get promoted.

Varney is wanted by Sheffield Wednesday as well as other League 1 clubs but Southampton have the edge in terms of what can be offered both in terms of wages and other quality players at the club, Varney is weighing up his options and his future could be decided in the next 48hours. Unwanted at Derby a nominal fee will be offered by Southampton which Derby will accept as Nigel Clough has said he is struggling to find a place for him in the Derby squad.

Southampton don't want to add too many more players to the squad if Alan Pardew could bring in these players it would bring an end to the clubs summer spending financed by club Chairman Markus Liebherr and overseen by Executive Chairman Nicola Cortese as success is demanded this year after last season was seen as a failure despite finishing 7th with a 10–point handicap.(12)(16)

I have read thios site for years and it does make me laugh, I am a mad liverpool fan but realistic, Kun aguero won't be at Liverpool unless and its a big if the club is taken over. On the takeover every year around the same times everyone claims to know about the takeover and everytime nothing comes of it. Anyway on to real rumours

Ziegler from sampdoria he is younger than bridge and probably could get him for the same price plus he is swiz and will know Roy.

Ben Arfa would be a good loan signing and provide cover this could happen.

Personally I think Huntelaar will sign due to Kuyt being there and makes me laugh about Remy 25 goals in 66 games is hardly prolific yet everyone seems to jumb on the band wagon he is awsome really? Ed how do u know all your infomation and have you any solid info on Roys targets.

All rumours about Anderson (of United) must STOP.
He's been out with a cruciate knee injury, name one club that would be willing to splash out significant cash on an injured player.
Moreover i'm not certain Fergie has lost complete faith in what is a very talented player. Still may be use as a makeweight in a deal. NEXT summer
OZ

I can answer your question
A. Liverpool when they bought Aquilani {editor's note – Villa bought Downing despite him being out with a long term injury as well.}

That signing worked out brilliantly for liverpool!! Pretty sure Villa only signed Downing to prevent him signing for Spurs who had shown interest and were going to sign the player once fit.

In other news – Ambrose to OPR is back on.. devistating for CPFC.

This news will break out in the next weak or so.

Sorry but i just read that Ferguson said that it was a possibility that vidic was out but he said he would probably still be a United player. And also all you idiots saying James Milner may go to Liverpool, Tottenham, or Chelsea youll are wrong. Aston villa news:

About time the milner situation is coming to an end! most villa fans will be happy about this as we can only strenghthen with the sale of him so its for the better, anyway on to transfer news:

Not much really only paper talk and my cousin who plays in the academy who normally gives me links doesn't no anything as the team is in ireland, what he has told is 'Mcgeardy' will probably be heading to villa park sometime soon with either heskey or davies going with the other way in some kind of deal, not happy with the mcgeardy link!!

Other Rumours are,

Stephen ireland to come with part of the milner deal or 8m from us, would be great signing a better attacking player than milner

Robbie keane as many would no about, not sure whats going on with this

Huntelaar i no was offered to us and several other teams if no one knew but don't think he is a o'neil player, would love him at villa park though

Thats it really.

Expect Ashley Young to play a free role this season which to me is his best position, we could see downing taking a central role in a 3 man midfield so would be a 4312 but with young providing the crosses from both sides.

Not too good for villa but the sale of milner could be a blessing giving us the funds for, parker, flamini, huntelaar, keane, bentley, witsel etc.(18)(15)

Remy, Huntelaar, blah, blah going to Liverpool. Actually I can't see Liverpool signing any new striking talent until Torres has made up his mind if he's staying or going. Think about it. If Torres stays then the available budget is (by default) lower and any strike partner will need to have complementary skills. If he goes then the transfer budget available from his sale to replace him will be huge (assuming the board have this policy) which theoretically puts a higher quality "lead" striker on the LFC wanted list. So expect Torres to clarify his future by the beginning of next week and at least one new striker to follow quickly after. If new strikers are bought before the Torres announcement then that would suggest he's already decided if he's staying or going and the striker who is bought may give us all a clue as to FT's decision. Rest assured Liverpool fans, it's a win–win situation.

One of either FT or Masch will have to be sold if we're to have enough funds to rebuild a squad with anything vaguely resembling strength in depth – which was one of the main reasons for last season's failures. My money's obviously on Javier going.(24)(22)

Rangers will only bring in a couple of players on the cheap. ie bosmans. there are going to be clearing up the debt this year. so don't expect much in the way of transfers to happen. as for selling players don't count on many more leaving. to keep fans happy they will be keeping the players unless a massive offer comes in for any of them.
second of all. expect heavy investment into the club.
source from a guy in the know. Parks, King, Duffy, plus a couple of directors already on the board. wil be investing in the club, by the end of the season. so expect this season to be a very low budget year. and next season expect alot of things to be happening on the up for the mighty gers.(25)(22)

I have it good authority that Man Utd will make a surprise signing this summer in the shape of Benfica's Fabio Contrao, in the region of £18m–£20m.

Aston Villa fans are too optimistic.

James Milner said he wants to leave and Chelsea and Mancity are interested.

Ashley Young is on his way to Arsenal.

Tottenham want John Carew.

Its not looking good.

Although Robbie Keane is on his way to the Club.

Aswell as Aiden McGeady and Scott Parker.

– – – – – – – –

Im sorry but you make me laugh, the only BIG player leaving Villa this window is James Milner but lets face that's gonna end his career as his not gonna start many games.

If you read a news paper you will see that Ashley Young has expressed his desire to sign a new contract with Villa and is trying to play as a striker the role he joined the club as. He also owes alot to O'Neill as he made him the player he his today and he wants to pay him back by signing a new contract.

Carew will stay at the club pure and simple the striker likely to leave is Emile Heskey going to Celtic as part of the McGeady deal.

you my friend are probably a sad sad blue nose who is crying at the fact the only players you have bought is Zigic – the siberian heskey and man united 3rd choice keeper

All the rangers fans rumours are just them thinking that the can actually sign someone. they are picking out all the free agents and posting them on this as rangers targets because it will look more realistic. The only person they will sign is probably Brett Holman that's it.

On the other side i agree with the guy who wrote about bellamy he will probably come to glasgow but its not been in the paper because everyone thinks he'll go to Tottenham. Also Lawrence, McFadden and Ramis look very close to signing but i think hooper will sign next year.

Other News. Man Utd won't sign anyone. They just can't handle the fact that Sir Alex doesn't won't to buy anyone else. A few names will arrive at chelsea and man city along with Arsenal but Liverpool will sign a left back maybe 2 and that will be them.

Ok..so Arsene Wenger has come out today and said what he has said all summer long.Arsenal will NOT be signing any strikers..even to replace Eduardo! Please fellow Gooners.take the Professor at his word already.

He has stated that all signing during this transfer window will be defensive.expect Frey or Steklenburg for GK, Subotic, Jagielka, or Van Der Wiel for CB, and I believe he may move for a CM if Fabregas goes. THAT'S IT!(18)(9)

Main News Today:

Soritis Ninis transfer to Man Utd to be completed by Monday. deal in the region of £10 million. Expect Vidic to be sold in the not so distant future to either AC Milan or Real Madrid.

Other bits I have heard from various folk today are:

Wayne Bridge will be joining Liverpool, Heskey is goin to either Blackburn or Stoke, Bellamy prefers a move to Spurs over Villa who have both shown an iterest, although City are offering Bellamy to Villa as part of the James Milner deal.
Huntelaar's agent is talkin to a number of clubs in England including Liverpool, Man Utd & Tottenham. Aguerro is pushing for a move to Chelsea & the Stephen Ireland to United rumours are cropping up in most conversatoins I have but i'm still not convinced this will happen!

Many Thanks(16)(25)

Arsenal are stıll ın the market for atleast 3players and accordıng on other funds they stıll may buy a forward to replace Eduardo. It wıll not be Remy as AW feels he was over prıced last year at 9 mıllıon and he dıdnt have a great year last year so what must he thınk of the 13 West Ham and supposed to be offerıng. Also Arsenal fans any forward that does come ın wıll be on the bench so Wenger won't be spendıng 20 mıllıon on hım or any player. There ıs a rumour goıng round London where I work as a sports agent that ıt could be John Carew. The maın target ıs a keeper and Schwazer looks lıke he wıll be joınıng when fulham get there new manager. That wıll cost Arsenal around 2–3 mıllıon and he wıll sıgn a 2 year deal for a possıble year extensıon after the 1st year. Arsenal wıll spend 20–25m and there ıs a huge possıbılıty ıt wıll be Cahıll and De Jong. Campbell wıll re sıgn after hıs honeymoon.

Schwazer
Sagna Cahıll Vermaelen Clıchy

Players being linked with a move to Rangers
Gary O'Connor
George Boyd
David Healy
Aaron Hughes
Graham Alexander
Goodwillie

In response – Gary O'Connor has just signed a new deal at birmingham so that won't happen. George Boyd has signed a new deal at Peterborough United so won't happen either. David Healy doesn't score and asking price is higher that Rangers value him. Aaron Hughes is a possibility but just a rumour no truth. Graham Alexander is past his peak. Goodwillie is far to expensive for Rangers as Dundee Utd would like somewhere in the 2.5 million region for their best asset.(12)(32)

Birmingham are closing in on Moussa Dembele. Should be signed for around £5 million. Haven't heard about Nathaniel Clyne, all i know is we've improved our original off of £1.5 million, to £2 million. Hope the kid signs, he would shine in the prem, ideal cover for Stephen Carr.

(Ed, have you heard of anything going on at blues? Have you heard about Moussa Dembele? Cause i bet when this gets posted, no one will believe it lol Cheers mate. And also, i think this website is brilliant, you've done a fantastic job with this site, keep it up). {editor's note – I haven't heard anything new, though both the players you are talking about should be definite signings. Clyne will take a bit longer as he is away with the England U19s, the medical will have to wait till after the European Championships are finished. Though I think you are belittling him by suggesting he is cover for Carr, he is a better player already.}(27)(6)

Not so much a rumour, more a realistic, feasible take on who might leave/join Liverpool over the coming weeks.

It DOES seem like Roy's happy to roll with a number of Chief Scout, Eduardo Macia's recommended players, hence the reason a lot of the usual suspects are still being linked despite Rafa's departure, (Banega and Turan for instance). A lot depends on who actually goes, but don't expect every departure to signal a replacement, Hodgson's stated that he wants to reduce the size of the squad, (one of Rafa's main shortcomings was his insistence on "2 quality players for each position", rather than just 1 very good player and 1 able deputy). I feel that the following will definitely leave:

Riera – £3.3m Olympiacos
El Zhar – around £1m
Degen – £1.5m, Stuttgart
Cavalieri – £2.5, back to Brazil
Kyrgiakos – around £2m
Plessis – £500k, Benfica
Itandje – around £250k
Nemeth – around £1m
Mascherano – £25m, Inter

The following reserves might also depart, at least I hope so, there's far too many reserves and the numbers are stunting the progress of those with actual potential, (don't expect any money for these though):

Mendy, Wiejl, Brouwer, Simon and possibly Saric too.

LONG SHOTS to leave are:

Aquilani, Lucas, Skrtel, Kuyt and Babel.

If any of those 4 leave I WOULD expect them to be repaced, (I almost included Ngog too, but I think he'll only go out on loan, ideally to another EPL side like West Brom).

Clearly we need a left back, but don't expect 2, (unless you count Davide Santon who I believe MAY be part of a Mascher deal). My guess, it's between Maynor Figueroa or Wayne Bridge. The latter's English, but the former's younger and less injury prone, tough call.

I reckon we'd only sign Arda Turan if Babel left, but I wouldn't rule out SWP either.

I feel/hope that Milner's our preferred replacement for Mascherano, but failing that, we'd move for Banega. The only way we'd get BOTH James and Ever is if Masch and either Aquilani or Lucas were to go too.

Wilsons arrival means that we'd let Skrtel go if a good enough offer came in, but there's no urgency or need to sell him cut–price.

I'm not entirely convinced that we're after a striker. Sure, if Kuyt left then we would, but again, like Skrtel, there's no real urgency assuming Torres stays, especially as Jovanovic can play there, (plus Babel if he also stays). That said, I can't make my mind up on whether Nando IS staying, naturally, if he were to leave then a lot would change! I DON'T think we're after Remy, I'll say that much, but I could be wrong, apparently Macia DOES rate him. Personally, I'd sell Kuyt. His stock is very high after a good World Cup and he's 30, now's our best chance to get our money back on him and buy a similarly valued, younger, more clinical replacement.

Finally, here's how my feasible 25 man LFC EPL squad would look, it makes for encouraging reading:

Reina, Gulacsi, Hansen
Johnson, Kelly
Carragher, Agger, Wilson, Skrtel/Ayala
Figueroa/Bridge, Santon?/Darby
Maxi, Jovanovic, Babel, Pacheco
Gerrard, Aquilani, Lucas/Banega, Spearing
Cole, Shelvey, Ecclestone
Torres, Kuyt/Remy/Huntelaar, Ngog.

Outside of those 25 there'd be a good foundation of reserves who were all under 21 on the 1st Jan 2010 and therefore eligible:

Bouzanis, Irwin, Ince, Amoo, Mavinga, Palsson, Dalle Valle, Kakaniklic and Bruna.

Thoughts?

Interesting development at Parkhead. Man City have "made an inquiry" about Aiden McGeady. This is being taken with a large pinch of salt by Lawell as it looks like a ploy to force Villa's hand on Milner. Basically, City are saying to Villa "Milner wants out and if he goes anywhere else, we can outbid you on your preferred replacement."

This is likely to accelerate the progress of the Milner / McGeady merry–go–round and may have implications for the Bellamy loan deal to Celtic.(20)(20)

Liverpool could be set to shock Manchester City in the aftermath of signing Wayne Bridge in the coming days to signing their target James Milner. Roy Hodgson is keen to continue signing English players and will have a core of Johnson, Carragher, Bridge, Gerrard, Milner and Joe Cole if he pulls off the two signings. He is still keen on Ever Banega but is confident he can sign these three players if Mascherano, Riera and Degen are sold whilst he may cash in on Aquilani if he can fetch over £10 million. Hodgson is thought to have been impressed by Benitez's signing Jovanovic and thinks he may make a great strike partner for Torres.
Hodgson's likely favoured XI will be: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Bridge, Kuyt, Milner, Gerrard, J.Cole, Torres, Jovanovic

First post, great site ed. luv it!

Just an update on the Craig Bellamy to Celtic rumour, Celtic are working hard on this, nothing concrete to report as of yet but the board are doing everything they can to bring in a glamour signing for the fans and they see Bellars as the man to fill the number 7 shirt.

It's a no brainer all round really but i'm sure Spurs, West Ham fans etc would laugh and argue different, Bellars has unfinished business at Parkhead, the money is available to fund this deal with wages of 7o grand plus available for wages Celtic have done well this window with their business so far. He can be offered European football every year Spurs will be lucky to survive to reach the group stages(as will Celtic) but we will be back next year where as Spurs have very little chance, City, Liverpool and Villa will be stronger next year as will Spurs but fourth place will be hard to achieve for Spurs.

My last point, why would City sell arguably there best player Tevez apart to a team who will be challenging them for forth spot. He fell out with Mancini as he does with anyone who pisses him off but that's his style he says what he thinks and the Celtic fans will love him for it. I'm in the know being a shareholder at Parkhead this has came from the very top we are working hard on this one.

Hail hail.

Transfers possible to happen this summer:

M.Bastos–Liverpool £16m – ONLY IF MASCH LEAVES, AND STILL BASTOS WILL NOT BE THE FIRST OPTION OF HODGSON
Honda/Endo–celtic £10m/£8m – NO WAY CELTIC WILL SPLASH THAT KIND OF CASH ON HONDA PLUS HE WAS COURTED BY OTHER (CONSIDER THAT BETTER) TEAMS AS WELL
Muller–Real madrid £30m – MULLER STAYS WITH BAYERN (HE SAID IT, BAYERN SAID IT AND BIDS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE), HE'S A PROSPECT FOR THE FUTURE AND IS NOT THE PLAYER MOU WILL SPLASH 30 MIL ON
F.Coentrao–Liverpool £13m – ARE YOU A DELUDED LFC FAN?

S.Aguero–Liverpool £22m+Babel – FORGET IT, NOT A SINGLE PLAYER OF SUCH CALIBER WILL JOIN LIVERPOOL THIS SUMMER, IT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEM THAT GERRARD AND TORRES WILL STAY.
M.Ozil–Man Utd £25m – MORE LIKELY IN THE REGION OF 18 MIL IF IT EVER HAPPENS, WHICH I DOUBT..
L.Fabiano–Aresnal £20m – LOL. ARSENAL WILL BREAK THEIR TRANSFER RECORD BY 30% BUYING AN EXTRA STRIKER THEY DON'T NEED. AW WAS STRAIGHTFORWARD – HE'S IN FOR A DEFENDER AND GK
Ibrahamovic–Man City £50m – IBRA PERSONALLY SAID TODAY THAT HE IS STAYING WITH BARCA. CITY ARE IN ADVANCED TALKS ABOUT BALOTELLI, WHICH IS ENOUGH TO CONVINCE PEOPLE THAT 50 MIL FOR IBRA IS JUST MADE UP.
Raul–Aston Villa Free – SCHALKE ARE CONFIDENT HE WILL SIGN FOR THEM, AND IN THE EPL TOTTENHAM WOULD HAVE THE UPPER HAND – THEY WILL PLAY IN THE CL AND THEIR STRIKERS ARE st (APART FROM DEFOE WHO'S ONLY PARTLY SO)
Ramires–Chelsea £20m – THIS IS THE ONLY POSSIBLE RUMOUR OF ALL THESE – AS IT IS ALL OVER THE PAPERS ALREADY.

Anfield latest:
there is no major moves in the ownership, martin broughton did say in a interview last month he expected the bidding process to start in late July, not that anyone will know outside the club but hyperthetically the bidding should be starting soon, but I have to re–iterate that no one outside the club knows so don't start making up bogus rumours of a sheikh staying in a Marriott or a American investment group holding talks, We don't know but be patient.
Transfers– Roy Hodgson Identifying his preferred targets and telling purslow and the scouts, it's basically a spend what you make, hence the summer sale that is going on at the minute with fringe players like riera, degen, el zhar being told they can move on to seek pastures new. The latest on the Mascherano deal is that he is still ignoring hodgson and rafa and moratti are putting together a bid of 28.5 million, so expect to see the ungrateful javier move to Italy.
Other players to leave will be:
Riera Olympiakos 3 million rising to 5 if they win their league
Philip Degen 1.7 million to Stuttgart
Nabil El Zhar to anyone that will pay the 1 million price tag
Soto Kyriagakos Birmingham 3.3 million
Emiliano Insua Fiorentina 5 million
Someone who won't be leaving is David N' Gog, Roy was pleased with his performance against Grasshoppers so he will be given a chance, possibly the loan move to West Brom could be back on again though, this is so he can get some first team action, he has the potential to become a good player afterall he did score something like 9 goals last season.
This will give him roughly 44 million to spend and he needs 2 left backs, one holding midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a striker
Roys Targets are:
Maynor Figueroa 6.5 million. (left back)
Carlos Salcido 2 Million ( Left back )
Steven Defour 7.5 million ( Midfielder )
Giorginio Wijdandjlm 3 million rising to 6(attacking midfielder)
Carlton Cole 8 million
those players are necessary for the squad and with roughly 15 million remaining hodgson will target 2 or 3 youngsters/squad players:– not all of these will happen but they are being targeted
Iker Munian Bilbao up to 10 million
Conor Wickham up to 9 million– other option to munian
Richard Stearman 4 million utity dfender – unlikely though due to Kelly and Ayala impressing
Tom Cairney 4 million Hull
Anthony Annan 5 million Rosenborg
Shaun Wright Phillips 6 million Man City
Fausto Rossi Juventus 7 million

provisional first team next season
Reina Cavalieri Gulacsi
Johnson Kelly Wilson Ayala Skrtel Agger Carragher Figueroa Salcido
Kuyt Maxi Gerrard Aquilani Lucas Defour J.Cole Babel Wijnaldjum Shelvey
Torres Carlton Cole and Jovanovic

please leave feedback i will answer any queries,
Cheers– The Original Liverbird

I think you're spot on some of this, but I think we'll spend more of that 44 mil you mentioned on the 5 spots that need filling:
Maynor Figueroa 6.5 million. (left back)
Carlos Salcido 2 Million ( Left back )
Steven Defour 7.5 million ( Midfielder )–price might be a bit low here. Other possibility is Ever Banega.
Arda Turan 12 million (Attacking midfielder)–this guy wants to play for LFC and Dalglish wants him. Is young and very skilled.
Sergio Aguero 16 million + player swap (Babel, Pacheco and Ayala)

provisional first team next season
Reina Gulacsi Hansen
Johnson Kelly Wilson Skrtel Agger Carragher Figueroa Salcido Robinson
Arda Maxi Gerrard Aquilani Lucas Defour J.Cole Shelvey Kuyt Ince
Torres Aguero Jovanovic

(Ngog out on loan within the Prem)

Cavalieri will be sold and if Salcido isn't bought for 2 mil, Konchesky will be. Figueroa has always been Roy's top choice and has way more upside than Bridge.

Hodgson, Dalglish and Purslow are being very careful with their transfers. They only want guys who absolutely want to wear the LFC shirt (which is why they never made a bid for Remy). Look at Jovanonic who sought LFC out, Cole who's said that Liverpool are the biggest club in England and the atmosphere of Anfield is what convinced him to come, and Wilson who said his transfer is a dream move and that he's in heaven. Two other players who would like more than anything to play at Anfield are Arda Turan and Aguero, who both grew up supporting the club. Look for LFC to try to get these two, as the men in charge want players who will give everything for the shirt.(15)(14)

Unsigned said of a possible bid for Liverpool by the Steinbrenner's at 22 Jul 2010 02:59:57:

"I THINK THIS IS VERY HIGHLY UNLIKELY, AS THEY HAVE OTHER MORE PRESSING MATTERS, THEIR FATHER PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY LAST WEEK. GEORGE MICHEAL STEINBRENNER III DIED 13TH JULY 2010."

I am afraid to say that the Yankee Global Enterprises is not a mom and pop business that stops operating when someone passes. Any proposed bid would not be held up by the death of the old man.

Sharkey.

DO A LITTLE DIGGING YOU WILL FIND THAT GEORGE PULLED ALL THE STRINGS UNTIL A FEW YEARS AGO(2008 IN FACT) . GEORGE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE GREAT WORK AT THE YANKEE'S, HE SIGNED A–ROD, HE TURNED THE YANKEE'S INTO THE TEAM IT IS NOW.

HAL IS ONLY 40 AND HANK IS 53, THE NEW YORK POST RAN A STORY A FEW YEARS BACK THAT CONTAINED THE FOLLOWING PHRASE.."Hank Steinbrenner is the owner of the Yankees by DNA accident. He blabs a lot, but does nothing that actually demonstrates leadership.".

NOW I AM A LIVERPOOL SUPPORTER, AND I LIVE IN NORTH AMERICA, I FOR ONE WOULD LIKE TO AVOID THESE PEOPLE AS OWNERS.

"Just seen Huntelaar getting out of a car by Stanley Park in Liverpool, along with a group of well dressed business men, must be discussing a move to either the Blues or Reds and most likely it being Liverpool as i believe Everton don't have £10 million to spend on him? ":/

How considerate. Instead of taking the player to the club entrance on Goodison Road or through the main car park on Anfield Road, they made him walk from Stanley Park in the rain. Perhaps Mr Huntelaar wanted to have a look at the lake in Stanley Park to size it up for his carp fishing requirements as I am sure this was uppermost in his mind when he signed for Madrid and Milan also. That could really give the merseyside teams an edge over the manchester or london teams!!(16)(14)

Im sorry but all this bull about kaka leaving madrid is just fantasy talk if you remember a few years back when mourinho was at chelsea he was desperate to sign kaka .now he has the chance to work with him he would just throw it away? somehow i doubt it. what do you think ed?

Now rumours United will sign S.Ninis For £13.5 million.
Ozil wil leave werder bremen in january and wil probably go to real. Fabregas is staying at arsenal and united will keep vidic and evra but may possibly lose carrick .
Your opinion again Ed? {editor's note – I can't see Kaka leaving either, he had a poor season last time around but that doesn't mean he will go. I don't know if Ozil will be going to Real, if he does then we know Mourinho has no say over transfers, he already has a surfeit of attacking midfielders to choose from.}(11)(14)

Unsigned suggested at 22 Jul 2010 14:59:23:

"If Nando and Mascherano leave they would raise around £80m. If Roy were to be allowed to reinvest all of this money we could sign ALL of the following players Banega (£12m), Darfour (£12m), Mata (£20m), Honda (£16m) and £20m on another striker. Whilst we would have lost two top class players they would be replaced with 5 quality signings. Would such an exchange make the team better or worse off? Discuss."

Alas you need to take account of the wages. Adding three extra players at say £50k a week on average adds nearly another £8M a year to the wage bill which the club could not afford. Liverpool need to take stock and bring the wage bill down. Sharkey.

He has been offered on loan for the up coming season with a veiw to buy next summer. It was on Sky Sports earlier where they have an extra reporter in the Studio with the presenters."

Regardless of what Sky have said, Marseille are still offering the player for sale. The only additional information is that they have confirmed that no French clubs are interested in taking the player – Bordeaux were in talks a few weeks ago but saw the player as too expensive. Derek Llambias enquired after the player on behalf of Newcastle a couple of days ago and there has been nothing since.

I would expect most clubs are thinking very carefully about taking on this talented but high maintenance player.

Man Utd do have funds to spend – whether fergie tends to spend them or not is a different matter!! He believes in bringing youth through and knows that they can't compete with teams funded by sugar daddies .. uhmm Man City!

Last year's Ronaldo money was kept as cash reserves so that the balance sheet looked more favorable for the bond issuance. Hence, we chose not to go for any real madrid players in P/E – we just brought a direct replacement?

It looks like its a 3 horse race for aston villa's james milner after martin oneill said he would leave the club. my sources tell me man city, l iverpool and tottenham are all interested. man city will offer the best part of 30 million to get their man but liverpool will be his prefered destinantion beacause he likes what roy hodgson is doing at the club also stevie g had a quiet word with him at the world cup.the only way liverpool will sign james milner is if javier mascherano leaves for at least 30 miilion therefor james milner will be signed as a direct replacement. tottenham are also interested but are put of by the 30 million price tag for him, but if they can persuade man city to sell them craig bellamy they will back out of any deal clearing the way for man city and liverpool.(31)(29)

Chelsea Facts: Belletti, Deco, Ballack, Joe Cole and Stoch are gone. Other possible departures: Carvalho, Ashley Cole, Sinclair, Di Santo.

Chelsea will only let Deco go if they can find a replacement by Monday ( the day Deco has stated he will make his decision). Chelsea will not let 5 midfielders go and only bring in 1 ( Benayoun) without having someone on their radar.Expect Chelsea to sign at least 1 player by early next week.

Usual suspects being linked with us Kaka, Ramires, Ozil, Muller , Khadeira, Schweinsteiger, De Rossi etc. Either way, there will be a signing at Chelsea in the near future, as we are at the moment abit bare with Matic, Mikel, Lampard, Essien, Benayoun, Malouda, Kakuta, Zhirkov, Kalou ( and even Matic, Kakuta and Essien due to injuries have not had much game time recently).

Chelsea by getting rid of Belletti, Deco, Ballack, Joe Cole and Stoch so far have chopped off around £300,000 pounds off the wages each week, although probably down to £225,000 with Benayoun's wages. 6 million for Stoch was an excellent deal.

The time is now to buy these 2/3 who will replace Drogba, Lampard, Anelka, Malouda, not in 2 years hoping their replacements will settle it straight away.

Chelsea have learnt from the Robinho saga not to wait until the last minute to do dealings and the fact that players have gone/are going means the club have lined up suitable replacements.

I would love to see either Torres or Aguero alongside either Hamsik, De Rossi, or one of the 3 Germans mentioned above.(16)(25)

Craig Bellamy

FACT.

ALL THESE FACTS CAN BE CHECKED AND DOUBLE CHECKED BY GOOGLE so for all you idiots who talk rubbish and type any old crap. this is genuine article(85)(67)

HOOPS NEWS

With the news that James Milner has told MON he wants to leave Villa, McGeady will be sold with player or players involved as part of the deal more than likely a Midfielder. As soon as this deal is in motion expect the hoops to get the ball rolling to get Bellamy on a loan deal or if what is believed that City would expect £3 Mill then the hoops will conclude a permanent deal. This is CONCRETE and will take stick if it doesn't happen as I only provide the facts. Another fact is that David James is a massive longshot he is harbouring to move to a club where he is offered a player/coach roll. With the money from the McGeady sale the Hoops will buy Lawrence and also Hooper or Stokes if Hooper prefers EPL. FACTS PEOPLE only FACTS.

And another thing whoever said that the Beggars (RANGERS) where going to buy Liam Miller and Anthony Stokes can you honestly imagine 2 Republic of Ireland players being accepted into Scotlands Shame when Miller was villafied..Somehow I can't see this happening.

First time ed, love this site i'm addicted!

a whisper about craig bellamy, celtic are in talks nothing concrete yet but this deal could happen sooner rather than later he is interested as first of all he'll be idolised by one of the best supports in football, he's played with lenny thommo etc, european football and it's good football sense for city as the wee man tevez apart was arguably there best attacking player last year. don't be fooled by the fact this lad will command 70 grand at least in wages, that is not an issue celtic mean business with this one. city will not let this lad go to spurs it doesn't make sense for tb hem. ican comment on this as mu y father is a shareholder at parkhead . not saying defo gonna happen but celtic are up for this.

keep up the good work ed, .

Ed, about Ninis, don't you think Man Utd are trying to get Panathanaikos to lower their valuation of him by their delay tactics? {editor's note – I believe the two clubs have already agreed a fee.}

Ed, I believe this was reported about a month ago. Why hasn't it been sealed yet? Do you think SAF has stalled after Werder decided to sell Ozil? Of the 2, who is more likely to sign? Also is there the possibility of signing both as Ninis is a winger and has always played out wide for his club and Greece {editor's note – I really don't know, it does seem strange but there are a number of possible reasons. It could be simply finances, it might need a player to be sold to provide the funds.}(14)(25)

Torres Carlton Cole and Jovanovic

please leave feedback i will answer any queries,
Cheers– The Original Liverbird(17)(34)

To the guy that says
Walter Smith has been told he has 5 million to spend so he is looking on buying Anthony Stokes and either David Wotherspoon or Liam Miller.

Most likely Stokes and Wotherspoon and Hibs would accept a joint fee of 2–3 million pounds for these 2 players.

GP

anthony stokes and liam miller are both big celtic fans so they would never join and stokes would cost around 2.5 and liam miller about a million and adding in wages for the 3 altogether it will take up all your 5million budget when yous are lookin for a defender and also a cm(36)(43)

Would it make more sense for Liverpool to sell Skrtel, rather than Kyrgiakos? Skrtel would bring in more money, would get a higher wage off the bill and they are pretty similar quality. Then we would have 3 senior centre backs (Carragher, Agger, Kyrg) and rotate Ayala/Kelly when needed (assuming Kelly gets chances at right back).

I'm aware we need a senior/experienced left–back, but please not Wayne Bridge. There's no way we could afford Coentrao (after his World Cup, Benfica are looking close to £20 million for him). Plus, with Di Maria sold, they may push him to his original position after a year at left back.

Any ideas on left–backs that aren't completely useless? Yes Bridge, that means you. For the record, i'd be happy for Aurelio to come back, but doubt he will after rejecting the contract.(26)(15)

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Charlton Athletic starlet Jordan Cousins, the England U16 team captain. A source close to the club explained that following Jonjo Shelvey's signing, and the arrival of Roy Hodgson, and the rulings regarding homegrown players means the club will be looking to sign more English youngsters, means that Cousins is an ideal target for Liverpool. Cousins is also a close friend of Jonjo Shelvey, and Liverpool staff were disappointed that Cousins did not appear in the recent U18 friendly between the two clubs as he is already with the Charlton first team. Cousins recently signed a pro contract agreement with Charlton but this is not seen as an issue. The fee is thought to be in the region of 3 million pounds, including appearance clauses, meaning the whole sum wouldn't be paid up front.(28)(28)

To the buffoon that said this:

22 Jul 2010 10:41:25
Loic Remy has been signed by Liverpool! Trust me I know a person who works on the board and he told me that Nice have accepted 13mil plus plessis and el zhar. He will be officially announced as a liverpool player in the next 48 hours. My friend also told me to expect Huntelaar to become a Liverpool player by the end of this week. Liverpool have offered 25mil plus Babel for Aguero and because Aguero supports Liverpool he will become a Liverpool player by the end of the transfer window. Atletico Madrid would be willing to accept this offer.

What on Earth is going on inside your head mate? I'm a sht hot Liverpool fan, but this post just wreaks of sitting off on your summer holidays playing Champ Manager/Footy Manager. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to off–load Bable in part ex for Aguero. I'd even accept Huntelaar due to the lack of decent strikers we have to supprt Torres.

As for the rest of the rumours, it seems pretty common knowledge that Masch wants out, so no–one else need blog on this topic. Ditto the take–over. Que Cera, whatever will be will be!

Don't want Bridge at Anfield either cos he proved last year at Citeh, that he's garbage..I'd take Konchesky and Figueroa (combined would be about the same price quoted for Bridge). Alan Hansen will have a fcukin fit if Liverpool sign him!

I have heard though that Reina has damaged his shoulder @rsing around at a party in Arteta's and will more than likely miss the Arsenal and Man City games :((23)(28)

 22 Jul 2010 13:00:23
Why are people quoting £20m for Ozil when the club has come out saying they have cut the price down by £8m.
The know they will get more than £12m for him, but it will start a bidding war.
We will not get Suarez either, he will cost far too much, at least £25m. Who would sit on the bench him or Berba? The only way we would get him is to offer £18m AND Berba, that way Jol can try to bring the best out of him again, and would give Suarez playing time at OT.
Kaka to United, not a chance (im a utd fan), but I reckon he will leave Madrid this summer(23)(24)

 22 Jul 2010 12:41:53
All rumours about Anderson (of United) must STOP.
He's been out with a cruciate knee injury, name one club that would be willing to splash out significant cash on an injured player.
Moreover i'm not certain Fergie has lost complete faith in what is a very talented player. Still may be use as a makeweight in a deal.. NEXT summer

 22 Jul 2010 12:45:22
To whoever said Vidic leaving & youth to be given a chance, what is your source? I monitor this excellent site with great interest, but it would be nice to know if there was a semblence of truth! Opinion is great, but let us know it is opinion.

I think all is quiet at OT as they will be working away at deals trying to get the best price possible. Players such as Gibson, Wellbeck Macheda etc are not yet good enough & i think Fergie knows this.
He is not the kind of man to hang around trying to challenge for the title with one arm behind his back.

Fergie will know that we are short in midfield on the creative front. Ozil is a possibility but after a great world cup you would imagine that half of Europe will be after him.

On the money front, United must have funds. They have enquired about Schneider, & last year they were looking at Ribbery, Benzema & Aguerra. Ribbery was available but 60 million seemed excessive. Benzema was bid for at 30 million but Real trumped that. Aguerra was quoted at around 45 million, but they were unsure about his suitability & the fee was therefore deemed excessive.

Fergie will not buy unless he sees value. I also think that Morinho will probably replace Fergie & will undoubtedly need a war chest. It could be that they are reserving funds for what will be the most critical managerial transition in the club's history. United are definitely not the financial super power they once were, but they seem to have funds when a purchase is deemed prudent.(29)(15)

Okay its simple for all us leeds fans, the reason we havent signed anyone in a while is because of the fact we havent sold anyone, even the ones that are transfer listed! So we can't make our two big signings in the central midfield role and striker, as we need to raise the cash for them, however cm will be a free, the striker will cost the most.
We already have a few mill from televised games last season and all ticket sales etc, despite what everyone else says about being broke.
So we have been linked with hooper all summer and we will sign him because he will of signed for someone else in this time as its been like a month so if he wanted to go somewhere else he would of by now, were just negotiating the fee and waiting to generate the enough cash from selling players, and are other signing will be darrel russel on a free(23)(17)

 22 Jul 2010 12:35:04
MCFC News i have heard.

Firstly when Alexander Kolarov signs for 18million euros expect one of Kolo Toure or Wayne Bridge become available, with Liverpool ready to pounce on Bridge, Toure is more likely to attract interest from abroad with AC Milan keen on him. Both will be made available for between the 7.5mil and 12mil mark depending on the clubs who bid.

Stephen Ireland is staying with the club for at least another season, as are Nedum Onouha and Micah Richards.

Robinho to be sold if a deal can be done, if not then expect Mancini to allow a loan deal as he does not feature in his plans.

Bellamy to spurs is nonsense, city would never sell one of the best players from the previous season to their main rival for champions league football, celtic cannot afford his wages, therefore he is staying.

Vladamir Weiss to join Newcastle on loan for the season after having spent the end of last season on loan at Bolton.

City's final 2 signings of the window will be Kolarov 18million euros and Balotelli 32million euros, these will add to an already large squad with Mancini planning on thinning it out in january once he has had chance to re asses the situation.

This is from a article released today by martin bain of rangers fc..

he was involved in a q and q and one of the questions he was asked.

Q. ARE YOU CLOSE TO MAKING ANY SIGNINGS AT THIS STAGE?

A. NO. At the stage we are not close to completing anything, But we did offer nearly 2million to burnley for chris eagles. I just wasnt prepared to bow to those kind of wage demands. But the was proof we do have money and we are active in the market.

I have spoked to clubs about another couple of players and have been given indicative values. But walter and i are watching how the market develops. We are not going to let tis go on for ever but its also extremely difficult to land a player in the current climate. The eagles episode proves that.

Aboy from burnley who didn't to sign for rangers?. Thes players know they can make more away from the SPL and that makes it difficult. But we will sure we buy the right type of players. Neither myself or walter will go down the route of signing the wrong players as a knee jerk reaction. All we ask is te fans have faith.

Q. DOES WALTER SMITH FEEL HE CAN MAINTAIN A LEVEL OF COMPETITEVENESS WITH A SQUAD OF ONLY 16 PLAYERS??

A. it is not ideal and no one is saying it is and injuries and suspensions then become a major concern.

But it will give younger players a cance to come in and show what they can do. we want to bring another 2 or 3 players in of quality. we would love to offer new contracts to the players who are here but we have to be realistic we can't have both we have to strike a balance

Broadly all of this makes sense. However, I think it will still be a couple of years before you see much of Josh McEachran. He does appear to be a very good talent but he is still towards to start of the learning curve.

Borini is well thought of by the coaches and I expect he will be preferred over Di Santo who I think may well move on.

LUFC Rumours

Ed, you should really put those believeable and un–believeable buttons next to the time that the rumour was posted and maybe make them less of an eyesore by just having a green tick and a red cross. Just a thought as i really think that it would be much better as the buttons are a good idea.
Now for some LEEDS transfer rumours. Firstly, the only players that will be leaving us are ones who are going out on loan and the ones that has been released/transfer listed.
Secondly, these are the players who might be coming in:
HOOPER (SG still hasn't used the bulk of his 2–3 million transfer budget and we are his favoured club)
RUSSELL (we are still leading the chase and his chances of first team football at norwich are lower than his chances at LEEDS)
These are the only players who we will sign permanantly. However, there will be some loan such as DELFOUNSO and maybe in january DELPH. Feel free tyo comment. What do you think Ed.

To the guy that wrote this.

It has been reported in business circules that Rangers have until the 11 of August to make 20 million pound from players sales and reductions in the wage bill/cost cutting. It does not take Steven Hawkings to work out due to this criteria Rangers will be fielding a made up of there youth (which is very good) and bosman signings. The new "roof" in the Rangers wage structure will be 8k, players earning more than this will be sold with the exceptions of Steven Davis, due to the fact if that happened there would be a supporter revolt. Rangers looking at Eastern European, African and home grown talent in all recruiting. All new contracts will be based on the Celtic model on 3 yrs + 1 yr option, instead of committing to the standard 4 yr contract. I can't tell you who we are signing, I havent heard however I can tell you about finances and contractual structures moving forward. Walter Smith understood all this before he signed on and accepts the challenge, there isn't a better manager to turn boys into men and I do not think this season will be a rite off, infact it will be one of excitment and suprises due to our youths.

Naaa, that's just total made up garbage, either that or your the bitter gullible type that believes anything negative said to you about Rangers F.C. Don't believe your postman mate.(21)(33)

Regarding these Huntelaar rumours..

Does anyone else think it rather strange that no other sports news organisation (i.e Sky Sports, BBC etc.) is reporting that Huntelaar is in England and talking to clubs?

It seems that all of this speculation is coming from some guy who texted into TalkSport with an alleged "sighting".

How many times do we hear about these "sightings" and it always turns out to be false? I think if it were true, surely more than one media outlet would be reporting it? Especially someone like Sky Sports who has reporters all over the country and one's based in Manchester & Liverpool.

Personally, I hope it's true and he signs for United because Huntelaar is a proven goalscorer. But I think I'll put the champagne on ice until it's confirmed by a reputable source.(19)(24)

I know there is doubt about the validity of a Liverpool bid for Aguero but just analyse it for a while.

He was at Independiente and was touted by the reds but they felt he needed to grow as a player before commiting. He was then sold to Atleti, yes Atleti, not Barca, Real, Man U, Chelsea et al. This, I believe (Ed correct me if i`m wrong) was ALLEGEDLY part of the future Torres deal, a kind of "You can have Torres but we want Kun". At this point it is important to understand the close relationship between Liverpool and Atleti which is widely publicised.

He has undoubted talent but I feel he has been put on a pedestal by the press and he hasn`t exactly set the world alight as of yet and would not be in many peoples dream team. However he has the potential to emulate his father in law and become one of the worlds best players. His buy out clause is reducing every year he is at Madrid and a bid of £30,000,000 should secure him. I don`t think the over inflated reports of his wage demands are accurate and a wage on par with El Nino should seal his services, hopefully for five years.

I know its unlikely but you have to admit it is definitely feasible and with player sales it is more than possible.

Fingers crossed.(33)(28)

Leeds Trying to sign up Jay Simpson on a permanent deal from Arsenal, Loan offers from 3 other Championship Clubs on the table, Leeds the only club to come in with a Full Time offer.

That's a load of tosh because both Forest and Burnley have both made permanent enquiries about Simpson and Leeds have not made any such bid! Any deal for Simpson would be at least £1.8m as Forest had a £1.6m offer rejected recently. Simpson won't be loaned out – he's nearly 21 now and hasn't made the progress expected of him (didn't impress that much on loan at QPR last season). He's being offered to clubs only on a permanent transfer.

Don't disagree that enquiries have been made and don't disagree that Arsenal want to sell not loan, but Leeds are the only club to make a formal offer so far, & there are plenty who want him on loan, Forrest haven't made such a bid your info is incorrect, but the final fee would probably be around that mark.(17)(39)

I like this site because I've seen some rumours from people who know what they are about. However, there are some people who post their dreams on here and advertise them as facts. There are so many things wrong with a potential Kaka to Man Utd transfer..
1) Evra will not leave United
2) Kaka is prepared to fight for a place at Real Madrid
3) Man Utd would much rather prefer Oezil
I've also heard some rumours that Huntelaar's agent was in England representing both of his big name clients, Huntelaar and Suarez, and that there was contact between him and Manchester United.
And another thing, I don't believe for a second that Philip Lahm will join Man Utd. With Rafael, and his brother Fabio (who are both actually right footed), we're secure on both fronts, as Fabio can also play at left back, despite the fact that he's right footed. We also have O'Shea. Berbatov is definitely staying, but I honestly can't say same about Carrick. And yes, City fans, you will sign Ali Dia for 50 million pounds. He is unproven, but he's George Weah's cousin! Nice to have the relative of a former player. And by the way, Sharkey, what line of work are you in?

Ed, about Ninis, don't you think Man Utd are trying to get Panathanaikos to lower their valuation of him by their delay tactics? {editor's note – I believe the two clubs have already agreed a fee.}(16)(23)

 22 Jul 2010 11:48:03
Lucas Leiva, David Ngog, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Daniel Plessis, Charles Itandje, Diego Cavalieri, Phillip Degen and Nabil El Zhar are all up for sale while Hodgson has not yet made up his mind on Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel, Martin Skrtel and Maxi Rodriguez.

Liverpool are also willing to allow Glen Johnson and £17m flop Alberto Aquilani to leave, although switches are unlikely this summer as the club accept they will not receive the fees they paid for the pair 12 months ago. A more realistic timeframe is for Aquilani to go back to Italy in January when he has had a run of games for the first team.

The only players who are deemed untouchable are Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Jamie Carragher, Jose Reina, Daniel Agger and Javier Mascherano, although the Argentinian has made it clear that he wants to move to Inter Milan and link up with former boss Benitez.

AP..(19)(30)

 22 Jul 2010 11:49:27
Chelsea have already released four players this summer (Cole/Ballack/Belletti/Stoch), total from these sales would be 4.5m upfront (plus the obvious savings on wages). Benayoun has joined for a fee of £5.5m, and will provide cover for the main midfielders. Deco has publicly stated his intention to leave, and his move to Fluminese is expected to be completed within the coming weeks. This leaves Chelsea in desperate need to strengthen the midfield with an attacking option, it seems that Ramires has been identified as a possible option having publicly spoken about his desire to join Chelsea/Barca/Madrid. Mesut Ozil is another possible option, although both of these have developed no further than paper talk at this moment in time. Sami Khedira could also become a target after Stuttgart denied the link to Madrid.

The squad will also be filled by players from the very successful regeneration of the youth academy. Kakuta/Matic/McEeachran/Mancienne/Borini/Bruma/Van Aanholt. The young Croatian keeper Matej Delac will join the club after he has turned 18 in August. Tomas Kalas was signed for a fee of £5m and will return to the club next year. Therefore it is unlikely that the club will sign any new Defenders either this summer or next.

After poor loan spells at Blackburn and Wigan, both Franco Di Santo and Scott Sinclair look likely to be leaving the club, leaving a gap for a young attacking option. After a bid of 20m Euros was rejected for Neymar from Santos (we can assume he has been identified as a legitimate target due to Chelsea failing to deny any bid was made), it is thought that a bid closer to 25m Euros may land the young Brazilian. The young Anderlecht forward Romelu Lukaku looks ever–more likely to join Chelsea, however this may not materialise until he is 18 and finished his education (2011). This season is also noted as Daniel Sturridge's chance to prove himself.

 22 Jul 2010 11:39:43
The reason Leeds have not made any signings yet is because they want to have a look at these Brazilians before they make a move to fill in the weak areas, plus we need to off load the transfer listed players to keep the wage bill balanced.
After this trial period if nothing has happened expect Leeds to bring in
Centre Back: O'Brien (loan) or Riggott or Craig Dawson.
Midfield: Darel Russell or Robert Koren
Striker: Hooper if still available and Bates will open his fricking wallet or Spencer/Simpson, possibly loan Delfouneso.(33)(25)

It seems as though Roy will continue to buy British as the Wayne Bridge rumours persist. It seems that Roy is also trying to get rid of the deadwood in the squad by including Plessis and El Zhar in a potential transfer deal for Remy (who would be a great signing from what I've seen, quick, strong and direct). However, whether Nice would see this as a good deal or not remains to be seen. Not convinced by the Huntelaar rumour, he seems like he can be a disruptive influence and Roy may be aware of that. On the left back front, this isn't a rumour but has anyone heard of Emiliano Moretti? Good left back and could probably fill a gap in the squad. I also rate Kadlec. Pretty doubtful – so, matching West Ham's offer PLUS two players? The Nice President has been quoted as saying that LFC would get priority if they match the top offer – so why would we exceed it with a couple of players that could potentially generate a couple of million?

Huntelaar would cost £10m+..and £25m for Aguero in addition to Babel, who could raise upto £8m?

What about the £5–6m we'd need to spend for Bridge / another left back (i.e. our priority target)?

Sorry mate, as much as I WANT to believe that, it just seems completely unlikely as we'd be spending out £38m, losing three players and STILL not have a replacement left back. Even if we sold Mascherano, we'd not be able to raise the funds.

LFC NEWS

Got a friend on the medical staff at LPool and he's told me Roy is being ruthless with any players he feels are not worthy of a liverpool shirt.

He has told Degan, El Zar, Ngog, they can leave (Find another club) He is really happy with Daglish bringing in the best of the british talent around and wants this so that he can bring them through and also blood the best of the players from the Academy, Reserves.

He notes this may take a year or two to fully implement and was aware of the possibility that players may leave if the club wasn't challenging for honours. He is also aware of the clubs needs and expectations from fans so wants to instil a winning ability and mentality from the start.

He has told Kenny that he wants him to continue searching for the best that britain has to offer! Then bringing them to the club so he can bring them into the squad and bleed them into the liverpool way!

He has told Purslow he needs experience! Premiership experience pure and simple to get things going quickly! He would also look at any players that are outside the premier league as long as they have that special class that he feels he can get the best out, from them straight away.

The players being mentioned are not a million miles away and what my mate was telling me was he is looking at mature and older individuals like the cole signing so he can get things going from the start.

From what I hear he is lining up Wayne Bridge or Stephen Warnock. He wants Scott Parker and also SWP. He has been told that Barry will also be available and is looking at a treble deal with City by using the funds from Masha's sale to Inter Milan. He has told Purslow to open up talks with City on this and wants to pay 12 million for Barry, 7 Million for both SWP and Bridge. Parkers deal is underway and the whole Remy thing is liverpool will not buy him and allow West Ham as long as Parker can come to liverpool.

The other name mentioned and he has told me that he has heard there is a great possibility is Kun Aguero!! I know, I know. you can say what you like but apparently the deal was all but done last season and pulled late on because of Hicks, Purslow has been in talks with Madrid and the club are willing to do business at Aguero's request. Do I think it will happen?? NO! but nice to hear.

I feel from what I have been told is Roy wants to get back to nice attacking passing football, he wants to breed confidence from the off and he wants players that are proven and at that right age 28 – 29 so he has the chance to get the best straight away whilst incorporating the youngsters!!

Come on next season is all I can say!!

The fact that Liverpool would sign three more strikers before the transfer window seems to be either that you are lying, this means the exit of torres or that liverpool are completely overlooking their left back problem or that they have been taken over. I personally, being a Liverpool fan hope it is the last option. (what do you think ed?) {editor's note – I am in the first camp, it is fantasy stuff.}(11)(26)

IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING MESUT OZIL

I hope i can clear up this Ozil mess, Werder Bremen have said they will accept an offer of just over 16 million (20m euros) for their youngster, he will not be sold in an auction, so if City go in with a 30m offer its pointless, all the teams that meet Bremen's asking price which will all have an equal chance of signing Ozil are Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan!

It will be his decision where he ends up, favorites are Chelsea, Man United and both La Liga sides! His words not mine. EDITOR isn't it nice to see a team accept a certain amount and not try and force their player to join a team he does not want to join just because the team are offering silly money? Who out of that list do you think will sign him? Remember this player is not a greedy player and has stuck by Bremen in the past on low wages. {editor's note – I really haven't a clue where he will end up, United would be the team that he would fit best though.}(15)(26)

More of a moan than a rumour, Ed you just said you doubt Man Utd have the money to spend on Ozil, after spending around £10million on Chris Smalling do you not think/hope that Man Utd must have the reported £12million that Ozil is being quoted as costing which in relation is an absolute bargain for a long term replacement for Scholes

Rockhanam {editor's note – I just don't think Ozil will be allowed to leave the club for under £15m.}

Ed, do you really think Bremen will reject bids under 15m? Barca will get Fabregas, this summer or next, Real don't want him, no club in Italy can afford him. The only clubs I see going for him and Utd and Chelsea. I don't see either club breaking the bank for him because of spending caps/last year of his contract {editor's note – I think he will go for just over £15m, I doubt he will cost as much as £20m though, but yes I expect them to reject less because there are clubs that will offer more.}(18)(18)

1st time on here, id just like to tell u what i think on The Arsenal Front. Fabregas will be sold this season if he hands in a transfer request, that is certain, Wenger don't keep players who don't want to play, i think the goalkeeper will be Handovic, altho id love to see skelenberg, the dutch keeper, campbell will stay, jagielka will probably be bought in, Wenger has bid £18 million for him, if not it will be mertsacker, If Fab goes it will be Ozil, wenger has chased him for over a year, but don't be suprised if wenger gets an unknown talent in midfield, striker postion, id love to see Huntelaar, but reckon it will be either remy or babel, all of this depends on price, but whoever we get, and only wenger knows, KEEP THE FAITH GOONERS

"Donavon to Man City after rejecting Bitter Blues Everton saying he wanted to play for big club. (BBC)"

Get your facts right.
Donovan has not rejected Everton as it is up to the MLS to decide on whether he can be transferred.
Also he would never be so disrespectful as to reject EFC saying he wanted to play for a "Big" club.

To quote Donovan on EFC official site:
"As a footballer, you always want to feel wanted and since I've got here, I've said many times that the people here have been very welcoming. For me, this was another big step – you're always unsure of how it's going to go for the first time.

Donovan added: "But from the opening minutes they were behind me, they supported me and it helped a lot."

You redshte call us bitter but who is posting bullst to try and have a pointless dig at EFC??
Very childish but then it is the summer holidays.(50)(47)

BREAKING NEWS / NEWCASTLE !!!!

REGARDING PLAYERS BEING LINKED TO NEWCASTLE!!

"Raul would have to take a huge pay cut to come here – I don't think he's going to do that!

"The Benjani rumour is just wrong – he hasn't been training with us and there is nothing in the Gary Hooper rumour either.

"I read about Ben Arfa. He is a cracking player and it's nice to see us linked with him, but there has been absolutely no contact there whatsoever."

Hughton has also sought to curb the rumours linking Newcastle with ex–England international Sol Campbell.

He added: "I think people have picked up on my relationship with Sol and him being available and come up with that one.

"He is a good player but at the moment there's nothing to say on it. There hasn't been any progress."

Steven wanted time to consider a possible option that he had but I was always optimistic that he would stay with Liverpool because he's the heart and soul of Liverpool and it would have been a major blow to lose him."

Now Hodgson told us last week "That there had been no offers for Gerrard" Now we know he was lying! Hodgson also keep's saying about the owners and how they need to go and we all know they have went what ever you believe they are gone. What ever comes out of Anfield now i will take with a pinch of salt. Except the Offical Takeover Announcement of course!

BREAKING NEWS !!! ASTON VILLA

West Ham co–owner David Sullivan insists star midfielder Scott Parker is staying at the club as Aston Villa do not have enough money to sign him.

The Hammers midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Villa Park following rumours that fellow England international James Milner is on his way to Manchester City.

Parker would be a like–for–like replacement in the Villa midfield, however Sullivan believes Villa do not have the cash required to prise the midfielder away from Upton Park.

"Nothing has changed, " Sullivan told the Birmingham Mail. "Aston Villa will not have enough money to tempt us to sell Scott Parker.

Don't get sucked into this 'Aguero to Liverpool' stuff.

Yes Liverpool are interested in Aguero and have been for three years since not long after he moved from Independiente (possibly even when he was with them) and have registered that interest with Athletico. But you have to put this in context. He is one of a small clutch of players that every major club in Europe has an interest in and as such he continually gets linked to them.

Yes Liverpool are interested – as is every big club, yes they would buy him if they could, but I doubt he's for sale and I doubt we could afford a package to secure him at present anyway.

Ninis–10.8mil
Lahm–16.5mil
Ozil–22mil
bids have been prepared and will be made public by Monday AFAIK. Also Balotelli has agreed on personal terms, the only hindering factor is Inter's valuation. The deal looks less likely with so many teams interested and will only take place if the Ninis/Ozil deals falter. The reason being that SAF isn't necessarily looking at Mario as an out and out striker, as reported earlier, he would play a different kinda role at ManU. Contrary to earlier reports, SAF isn't gonna w8 till the end of the transfer window for all of these, especially the Ninis and Lahm deals. There are 2 other names cropping up but no bids have been finalized yet, these are– Jovetic and Defour. I'm not sure about the last two though.

Leeds Trying to sign up Jay Simpson on a permanent deal from Arsenal, Loan offers from 3 other Championship Clubs on the table, Leeds the only club to come in with a Full Time offer.

That's a load of tosh because both Forest and Burnley have both made permanent enquiries about Simpson and Leeds have not made any such bid! Any deal for Simpson would be at least £1.8m as Forest had a £1.6m offer rejected recently. Simpson won't be loaned out – he's nearly 21 now and hasn't made the progress expected of him (didn't impress that much on loan at QPR last season). GENCH {editor's note – I do agree with you about Mertesacker, the link has come about purely because he is so tall and Arsenal lack height. I doubt if Wenger has any interest in him, he likes mobile centre backs, not big lumps.}

Sorry to dispell your theory ed, but the link hasn't just 'come about' because Arsenal lack height! He's a player that's been watched by club scouts consistently for two seasons now. It might be your opinion he's a big lump, but Arsene Wenger rates him highly and I value his opinions far more than I value yours! (no offence!). While Wenger admires the talent of Tasci and Subotic, Mertesacker has the experience he needs to confidently replace Gallas and Campbell. As for mobile centre backs – would you consider Phil Jagielka a mobile centre back then? {editor's note – Wenger has done the same as he did with Babel, watched him and decided he is not good enough. Jagielka is very mobile, one of his main assets is his pace, or rather was before his injury, I don't know if that has affected him.}(26)(39)

To who ever said this

"Hi

I am a friend of Niek Huntelaar, the brother of Klaas–Jan Huntelaar.

Klaas is in England at the moment and has met with representatives of various clubs.

He is keeping his options open at the moment.

In an ideal world he would sign for Man United, however he wants regular football and realises that he may not get that at United.

I honestly don't know his destination (if he moves from Madrid at all) but at this moment in time, and with other clubs still to speak to, Liverpool is his most likely move.

Sorry I can't be more clear.

Yesterday saw the release of Eduardo Da Silva to Shaktar Donetsk. The deal is worth an initial £6m with add ons. Best of luck to Edu, such a shame we never got to see the best of him but after an injury like that it was hardly surprising. His departure leaves us with 3 central strikers – given that Van Persie has yet to complete a full season uninjured, I wouldn't rule out another forward being brought in to make up the numbers (although we do have Sunu and Afobe from the reserves). This won't be high priority though and more likely something that may be considered in the Jan window. The main causes of concern to be dealt with before the season gets underway are the centre back and GK positions. A deal for Schwarzer won't happen. Fulham are now believed to want £4.5m for a 37yr old they landed on a free just a year ago. Better value would be David James, who as a free agent could give the club 12 months with the option of coaching thereafter. The reason Wenger is not looking at younger keepers is that he values Wojciech Szczesny so highly. He has been given a couple of games against Barnet and Graz in pre–season after impressing on loan at Barnet last season. He is still at least 12 months from a possible No.1 spot yet though. Sebastien Frey is another possibility.
The centreback will be one of Per Mertesacker, Serdar Tasci, Neven Subotic or Cristian Zapata. This won't be cheap – expect at least £14m to land any of the above. Discussions with Bolton and Everton have priced both Cahill and Jagielka out of consideration.

PS) Arsenal were never interested in signing Joe Cole, nor are they interested now in Loic Remy (overpriced, average goals per games return). Wenger valued him at £6m in 2008/09, Nice wanted £12m. if he was overpriced then, he's even more so now!(42)(22)

Birmingham City have targeted Manchester City and Brazilian striker Jo Alves on loan. McLeish plans to talk with the striker when he returns from the club's pre– season tour. As long as his wages are relative, and a similar arrangement can be agreed with Man City as it was for goalkeeper Hart then a deal should be concluded within the next week or two. Other targets include Moussa Dembele, and Monterry striker Humberto Suazo who played for Chile at the World Cup. – Birmingham journalist(33)(26)

Hi

I am a friend of Niek Huntelaar, the brother of Klaas–Jan Huntelaar.

Klaas is in England at the moment and has met with representatives of various clubs.

He is keeping his options open at the moment.

In an ideal world he would sign for Man United, however he wants regular football and realises that he may not get that at United.

I honestly don't know his destination (if he moves from Madrid at all) but at this moment in time, and with other clubs still to speak to, Liverpool is his most likely move.

Sorry I can't be more clear.

unless im seriously missing something about this players career im pretty sure he cannot turn, is slow and ball watches. maybe someone could clear that up for me.

Ill clear it up. He has MORE caps than John Terry (a supposedly world class defender ha ha) in a MORE successful national team. He can bring a ball down, and play it out of defence. John Terry will tw@ it into the stands.

Fabiano is off to Spurs
Ozil is off to United {editor's note – yes but that is not the point, Terry is over rated because he played alongside Carvalho, who carried him for years. That doesn't make Mertesacker top class because he is better than him, Brighton aren't world class because they are a better team than Histon for instance. Playing for a German side that lacks top class defenders is also no indication of his ability. Mertesacker is good in the air, good on the ball, but he ball watches, is slow and he is easily turned.}(12)(35)

Just heard that liverpool are trying to sign gattuso from AC Milan he has been offered a 1 year contract. These are the type of signings that joe cole and gerrard wanted to see proven internationals. Roy sees him as a very similar player to mascherano. Fee rumoured to be around 6 million. Huntelaar seems like the most likly striker to come in with a fee of 9 million being argeed. They are still exploring the remy deal however things won't change unless liverpool get him for a similar fee. They won't pay over the odds for players especially after the way things went with cisse, cheyrou and le tallec. Wayne Bridge has signed and will complete end of this week to start of next week. 6 million.

Potential LFC team.
GK–Reina
LB–Bridge (6 Million)
CB–Carragher
CB–Agger
RB–Johnson
LM/AM–Cole
CM–Lucas
CM–Gattuso
RM/AM–Gerrard
ST–Torres
ST–Huntelaar

What do you think ed do you think this would be able to push for a top 4/5 finish? {editor's note – Gattuso? Is this a wind up?}(31)(27)

Transfer Facts
EPL
Liverpool – Wayne Bridge will sign by next week
Arsenal – Fabergass is edging closer to Barcelona

SPL
Celtic – Lennon concerned by the lack of goals from open play in tour of America. He has made a decision that two strikers will go (likely to be samaras & Fortune) with two replacements lined up. Concrete information is that Peter Lawell has had advanced talks with both Bellamy and Hooper, with tentative approach made to Hibs on a deal for Stokes.

Lennon has also interrupted his tour of America to call Paul Hartley to sound him out about a 1 year deal.

Expect deals to be wrapped up for;

In – Ramis, Mcfadden, 1 other from Villa as part of mcgeady deal and D James

Out – Mcgeady, Caddis, Hinkel, McCourt,

Now I am aware of the doubt about about Kun Aguero joining Liverpool but do not be shocked if he actually signs VERY soon.

Why?

He wants to link up with Torres again. FACT

He is a boyhood LFC fan. FACT

We`ve been linked with him since 2006. FACT

Atleti are willing to sell. FACT

The only real doubt is regarding his wage demands of £200,000 a week which I honestly believe is just paper talk.

The reds need a landmark signing other than Cole and the way the game is going any decent side NEEDS a forward in the Aguero mould to support the main striker. Gone of the days of the 4–4–2 with battering rams up front, defences need to be unpicked nowadays and this type of player is the key.

Although I still believe its a bit of a long shot (or a dream for that matter) I do believe we will see a squat, powerful, terrier like player up front a LFC next season and Aguero might just be at Anfield come August.

Also do not rule out a move for Suarez or Tevez for the reasons stated in the last paragraph. With the imminent sale of Masch and the selling of Yossi, Insua, Riera and Degen we can definately afford any of these plus a much needed LB (Bridge).

Remember. Positivity breeds positivity.(38)(33)

Do you have nay news on Ozil to Man U? Are they even in talks or is Fergie monitoring him? Having watched the WC i just can't believe Fergie isn't willing to spend his budget on him as he is exactly the kind of player Fergie and Utd love and need. He's young, fast, penetrative and more importantly all things considered fairly cheap because of his contract situation. I know your a LFC fan but do you not think Utd are crying out for a player like him??
Stu {editor's note – he would be the perfect signing for United, but I don't think Fergie has the money to spend to get him. Otherwise I am sure you would have been parading him round Old Trafford by now, you have been tracking him for a few years now.}(24)(26)

Rangers fire sale set to continue, Bougherra, Davis and Miller to be sold by the end of next week. Davis is apparently disgusted with the goings on at Ibrox as he is desperate to stay and play for his boyhood heroes but Walter Smiths hands are tied. Kevin Thomsom quoted that he felt sorry for his ex gaffer as he won't see a penny of the fee Rangers recieved for him as all the profits from sales are going straight to the bank, big fears for the future of Rangers FC, quite sad really.(48)(50)

 22 Jul 2010 09:24:20
Just clear up a couple of things re. Rangers and what they can afford and can't afford.simple fact is nobody on this website knows a thing about the finances, so stop speculating!

Chris Eagles was offered £16k per week + a house, he wanted £20k per week + the house (he earns circa £7k per week at Burnley, was circa £14k last season but got halved when they got relegated), Rangers basically told him 'no chance'. From where I'm sitting this has nothing to do with what they could afford or couldn't afford this has to do with not paying over the odds and not meeting the daft demands of a player (£7k per week in front of 14,000 every second week in the championship or £16k per week to play in front of 50,000 every second week + Champions League + a nice new house to boot.I know what I'd have done, but that's just me!).

Walter Smith stated that players who were coming to the end of their contracts and looking for improved terms may not be able to be accomodated, meaning that new contracts could be offered on the same/slightly improved terms but that vastly improved terms would not be an option. And as much as it annoys me to see players leaving it does make sense to cash in when you know a player is going to leave for nothing in a years time.see Kris Boyd, was offered £18k per week, signed on at Middlesbrough for £28k per week. Rangers were never going to match that! Story goes that Kevin Thomson had indicated he would sign a new contract but was looking for £5k per week extra, that wasn't going to happen so Rangers cut their losses and took the cash just now.

Danny Wilson, looks like he could be a great player. But he had made it 100% clear he was off next summer when his contract ran out.now given that it's doubtful he would be first choice (would be for years to come if he hung about!) than it makes perfect sense to take what was on offer rather than a £600k tribunal fee next summer.

Just get the facts right people!

ps: would be nice to actually see some cash getting spentbut that's another matter!(42)(23)

This is not a rumour, more of a fact. There have been people on here recently asking what happened to all the talk about Ribery etc.

The thing is Ribery will not be bought or sold for the next year or two, this is because he has been caught with an underage prostitute. This is fact he has been charged by the French police.

Also Karim Benzema will not be going anywhere either as he is all tied up in this aswel, I don't know if Benzema has been charged yet but Ribery definately has, and NO CLUBS WILL BID FOR THESE PLAYERS NOW.

Clubs might get them on the cheap in a couple of years time – Also I can't picture Mourinho and co. being overly happy with Benzema.

This is fact check it out i Don't lie.

Ed, What do you think of Roy Hodgson's comments regarding El Nino? Along the lines of he is hoping Torres will commit to Liverpool (but also saying that Purslow has been talking to him for a couple of days). Cause for concern perhaps if after 2 further days of talks (following talks of last week as well) he still hasn't committed his future? {editor's note – not really, he is just a player, if he stays great, if he goes then the club gets a huge wad of cash. I am bored of it, I don't get the big deal, this hero worship of players is getting out of hand. It is the club that matters, whether one player or other stays or goes is irrelevant.}(38)(23)

I have it on very good word that chelsea have bidded £20million for ramires and a deal will be happenning as the player himself fancies the move. Chelsea are also going back to santos with an improved offer after the player made it clear he wants to join chelsea and it is strongly rumoured that a move for kaka could gather mommentum over the next few weeks.

Ok I am not a futureteller or anything but these things are obvious..
As as arsenal fan the arsenal news currently is that after the departure of Silvetre, Gallas and Campbell (also coming back from injury Djorou) Arsene feels a bit short on defenders the centre backs and full backs. He has money to spend first of all and has made a bid on Phil Jagielka for about 16m pounds he is also wants Van Der Weil. Fabregas is not going to leave as Wenger wants 60m euros for him and barca won't pay that hence with arshavin, nasri, chamakh, diaby, song, denilson, eboue, wilshere, walcott and others he has plenty of options in the midfield. Arsene is in the market for a young striker because of edaurdo's exit to shakhtar. Yes it is going to be a typical Wenger unknown new name signing. As for the goal keeper Swarzcher is coming in as a short term solution or Frey also looked at. I don't like the chances of Robert Green West Ham want him alot can't see that hapening after his wc blooper(and that's not wat arsene wants). coming back to the defenders problem heres a name to think about. Although he might need alot of work but arsenal can really make him a better player Pape Diakhate might just be wat arsenal need.
OPINION: I hope arsenal do not pair vermaelen with laurent he is an ok defender but not world class and would love to see Mertesacker at the club and Arsene should buy him. So arsenal's team :

Mark Swarzcher
Sagna Mertesacker Vermaelen Clichy
Denilson Fabregas Arshavin Nasri Chamakh
Van Persie

Subs & others
Almunia Fabianski SZCZESNY vito
Djorou Gibbs Laurent Traore (Pape Diakhate maybe u never know with wenger.)
Song Diaby wilshere Ramsey(injured) eboue roscisky
Remy Walcott Vela Bendtner

wat do u think ED.
–Future {editor's note – I personally don't rate Mertesacker, though I have to say I don't think Koscielny is the answer either.}(13)(36)

for rumours. i'd love to sit here and say arsenal will get aguero
benzema
hazard
casillas
vanderweil
etc

but its not going to happen.
arsenal will hopefully sign a good goalkeeper, but someone 30ish, lloris is highly unlikely, frey probably the most likely, or this handovic played i keep hearing about but don't really know if he's any good.

i don't even think we need a good cb, some cover maybe.
djouro is pretty good to be fair.

ED, any thoughts would be appreciated, you know this all better than i do and i could be an idiot..

GENCH {editor's note – I do agree with you about Mertesacker, the link has come about purely because he is so tall and Arsenal lack height. I doubt if Wenger has any interest in him, he likes mobile centre backs, not big lumps.}(19)(40)

Walter Smith understood all this before he signed on and accepts the challenge, there isn't a better manager to turn boys into men and I do not think this season will be a rite off, infact it will be one of excitment and suprises due to our youths.(27)(38)

Liverpool are close to agreeing a £6.5 million transfer with Manchester City for left back Wayne Bridge who looks set to join a new look Liverpool. Javier Mascherano has been in touch with Hodgson to let him know that he wants a move away from Anfield and it is likely he may fetch around £28 million.
Fernando Torres however has expressed his desire to stay put. Hodgson will use the money from Mascherano's sale to bring in a central midfielder, another winger and a striker.
Hodgson is keen to keep hold of Ryan Babel but has told Phillip Degen, Albert Riera, David Ngog and Alberto Aquilani that they are not in his plans for next season. Ngog is likely to go out on a loan move to West Brom once Hodgson brings in another striker. Remy, Huntelaar and Raul are the possibilities at the moment whilst it is becoming increasingly likely that Ever Banega will replace his fellow country Mascherano at Liverpool and Turk Arda Turan will finally get his dream move to Liverpool with Hodgson keen.

Mesut Ozil's leading suitors currently are Chelsea and Real Madrid. the young German needs to be guaranteed a starting position and that cannot be promised at Real. it will become a two horse race between London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal with the Gunners looking for a replacement for Cesc after his inevitable departure to Barca. Wenger has always been a fan but didn't want to spend for Ozil before the World Cup thinking he could convince Cesc to dedicate his future to Arsenal. However, Chelsea will certainly not roll over and give up as Abramovich is desperate to sign younger players and lower the player wages.

Almunia's replacement will be the underrated Slovenian talent, Samir Handanovic. Wenger will not spend a lot for a goalkeeper so the relatively unknown and young (26yo) Slovenian talent will arrive in North London from Udinese for a nominal fee.

Gallas' replacement will be Cristian Zapata who will follow/lead Handanovic from Udinese. the goalkeeper and centre back have formed a terrific defensive partnership, especially in regards to defending crosses.

backups/young talents will also arrive but starting replacements Mesut Ozil (for Cesc), Samir Handanovic (for Alumnia), and Cristian Zapata (for Gallas) will be the only changes to the starting lineup aside from Chamakh who has already joined.(21)(30)

A few rumours i have heard about my beloved arsenal! but first of all good luck to eduardo on his new club he was one of a kind never seen someone finish as good as him.

so now eduardo has gone it looks like maybe arsene might hijack west ham and liverpool transfer target loic remy for 13.5 mill. aswell he has stated he would love to play for arsenal and has had conversations with henry on what life is like.

another rumour is juventus midfielder that goes by the name of Sebastian Giovinco. don't think this move would happen but if it does. hey i hope he can play! he worth around 7.5 mill which maybe a lil to much for a player who plays in the reserves.

and on going rumour is fulham goal keeper mr swarzher. however you spell it. fulham want 4 mill but arsene won't go over 2 for the 27 year old. also arsene has offered him a traning role aswel to help out the new number one that polish player which name i can't spell. but were is seaman i keep thinking. but hey we will have to see. aswell it doesn't look like we will get handovic the asking price they are asking for is way to much t when what arsene is looking to pay.

last but not least. arsenal are giving a trail to a in form youngster from DC united that goes by the name of Andy Najar who is on the wish list for most south americans teams and national teams like Honduras and USA!

You heard it here 1st.

Why do Arsenal fans think they are getting another striker? They have already signed Chamakh which means they have Chamah, Van Persie, Bendtner and Eduardo, as well as Walcott and Arshavin who can fill in, not to mention the young guns, I think it's highly unlikely that Wenger will go for another striker now.

Well it is highly likely we are because Eduardo s leaving for Shakthar Donetsk and also one of sky sports sources and reporters Fraser Robertson announced as I wrote earlier that Arsenal are in talks with Nice to sign Loic Remy

dont forget about me!

Ed can you please tell me if liverpool are looking at arda turan? have they approached him? does roy want him? and would galatasaray let him go? i know he's a l.pool fan. thanks. {editor's note – they have had Turan watched for years now, Dalglish has recommended him, but I have no clue as to whether Roy wants him or now. If Liverpool went in for him, he would force a move if necessary, but I doubt Gala would stop him moving as that know how desperate he is for the move.}(39)(17)

CELTIC TRANSFER NEWS!Craig bellamy will be sighning for celtic in the next week likely to be loan. John hartson reported in an articul a couple of months back that craig bellamy would walk to celtic if they could match his wages down south. Celtic will also sign jimmy bullard on a years loan deal for 30,000 a week while and hull will pay the other 15,000 of his wages as they are desprate to get him off the wage bill. Robbie keane will not return on a loan deal this year. There is a possibility of Aiden McGeady sighning for Aston villa for 8 million and a swap deal for Heskey. Celtic may also swoop for James Mcfadden as he wants to return to scotland where his family are from. As you no Arthur Boruc has sighned for Fiorentina and celtic are looking at david james to replace him. They are in talks at the moment and he would ask for around 30,000 a week in wages.(44)(45)

"Sharky do you know who is intreseted in the takeover of liverpool fc? tell me all you know please"

I honestly have no idea. Everything is very quiet and I have no reason to not to accept the words of Mr Broughton when he said that the middle of the month would likely see some bids being submitted. I keep an eye on the wire service for any news but nothing comes through.

One slightly interesting thought (pure conjecture on my behalf) would be perhaps a bid being made by Hal and Hank Steinbrenner though their Yankee Global Enterprises. They have been looking in to expanding the enterprise and are a wealthy organization that have looked previously at both Spurs and Bayer Leverkusen. So a bid is perhaps not out of the question.

I guess it would be perfectly reasonable to assume interest from the Middle East and possibly the Far East. Again, it would not be out of the question to see interest from the new oil rich of the central asian countries or from the old Soviet Bloc.

In the big scheme of things Liverpool need to (a) avoid a buyer who will leverage debt on the club; (b) find a buyer who will be fiscally responsible.

The problem with this is that I am pretty sure that Michael Owen is moving in to the second year of a two year contract with Manchester United so it makes no sense to send him out on loan and pay half his wages if he is going to leave at the end of the season. This would also scupper the thought of an optional one year extension.

I'm not here posting something i heard from my mothers fathers uncles gardener LMFAO Just stating my OWN OPINION.. I AM FROM NY EDITOR CAN CONFIRM THROUGH MY I.P ADDRESS.. Personally don't think Landon Donavon will be sold right now the MLS are in stages to make the play more attractive and better so why sell the best player in the league .. watch out for more world class players 30 and above coming to America.(BECKHAM LUNGBURG (SP) LE TOUX HENRY) This will make the squads better with European talent training with them and the youth.. I can say in 5 years MLS will be better than half of EU leagues because of how big football is growing in the states and the cash injection from owners cause in all reality MONEY TALKS.

BTW IM A LFC FAN JUST LETTING EVERY ONE KNOW HOW THINGS ARE LOOKING IN THE STATES..

YANKS ON THE RISE EVEN SIR ALEX GARBAGSON JUST SAID MLS PLAYERS ARE 200X BETTER THAN 4 YEARS AGO IM WATCHING THE FRIENDLY BETWEEN MANCSCUM VS PHILADELPHIA UNION BTW(54)(58)

My journalist friend, who had the back page of a top national paper when the Joe Cole story broke, assures me talks have started between Inter and Liverpool over Mascherano. He cited Roy's friendship with Moratti as a key part of this.

Mascherano is a goner..expect a deal soon.

Torres will stay, the only real concern was whether Gerrard or Mascherano would leave, and Gerrard has made it public that he isn't going anywhere. As for Mascherano, he is a decent enough guy to give Hodgson a chance and will give him a season to prove the teams transformation.

Remy will go to West Ham, Liverpool are not interested, his agent said the player wants to go to LFC and the club would be stupid not to make an offer. Confirming they haven't made an offer.

Apparently Huntelaar was spotted in Manchester airport.
City have made it public who they are after (Balotelli and Donovan)
Fergie has said United won't be making any signings.
Which leaves Liverpool as the only other realistic team to buy him in the North West.
On the other hand, if Masherano goes and LFC get loads of money, Aguero could be on the cards instead,

Roy Hodgson has made it clear that a left back is his main priority, i've read from a number of sources that he will go for Wayne Bridge, if that fails Figueroa from Wigan.(91)(40)

It is really tough to see Gervinho making a move to Chelsea. It seems that Lille are keen to cash in if they can get a good deal on the player and a transfer is certainly being talked up. This is the time of year where French clubs seek a premium on the transfer of their players to England.

I know the player has said that he would like to stay at Lille for another year but I would not be surprised to see the player turn up in England over the summer. As I said, I very much doubt that you will see him at Chelsea but there may be other clubs willing to give him a chance.

"Watford were linked with Gael Kakuta last season before Chelseas transfer ban. As he needs experience, he is getting loaned out to Watford ready for the start of the season. It is possible he will feature in a couple of the upcoming pre–season friendly games."

Gael Kakuta is away with the French Under 19 side and will not return this month. There is a chance that he will go out on loan but I think it more likely that he will stay with Chelsea for the season.

kakuta is going to playing a big part in the chelsea first team this season .. he won't be going anywere ancelotti likes what he sees from him playing in the reserves team and he, borini, and sturridge will be making quite a lot more appearances in the squad this season. not certain about borini as he might be going on loan to a team in the serie A(31)(39)

Ed what is going on with this liverpool takeover you surely must have some info on who might be fav to takeover plus whats the deal with aguero to liverpool please say there is something in this story? {editor's note – unfortunately I don't have anything on the Liverpool takeover as it is all being done away from the club in secret. All I know is that the right people are happy with the way it is going, your guess is as good as mine as to who is favourite though. As far as I am aware there is nothing in the Aguero story, other than wishful thinking.}(51)(31)

I don't know this for a fact, but i do believe that ballamy might come in on loan. There is no way that the celtic board will buy him or anyone for that matter that is going to cost 7–8 million, those days are over.
The reason i think he would come on loan is that man city have more than enough cover and he doesn't get on with mancini. John hartson said in a sun column a few months back that bellamy would walk to celtic if they could match the wages offered down south, but with city being loaded i believe they would be more than happy to let him go on loan while covering a percentage of his wages.
Although this may not come to fruition no one should discredit it because although he only played for us briefly he has a bit of an affinity with us, which was highlighted when ledley asked for his advice prior to signing(85)(76)
