Liverpool and Middlesborough reps will meet after the game on Saturday to splash out a 12m deal, Albert Riera was Rafas main target after Barry but Espanyol will only sell him if a team meets his Release Clause of 15.5m. Gareth Barry will be Rafas main target in January but his price will not be reduced it will stay at 18m, he can however buy himself out of his contract which is very unlikely.
Anyway on to rumours, Rangers are looking at a new right back, name most being batted about is Oddo from Milan, however, i have been told that Phil bardsley would welcome a return to Ibrox!!!
Anton Ferdinand is joining brother Rio at Manchester United as a direct replacement for Silvestre whos joined Arsenal.
With Southamptons financial woes reliable word is Stern John will be loaned out to Forest for 2 months to cut a high wage earner from the bill. Forest need cover as only Earnshaw fit upfront.

I am an Aston Villa fan and I have some bad news on our part. Apparently Gareth Barry is fuming at the fact that Martin Oneil was so stubborn and would not drop his price, which scuppered his desired move to LFC! Anyway Barry has now dugg his heels in and said that if Liverpool do not buy him now he will stay on and refuse another contract untill he can happily leave for around £1.6m in 12 months and that I am afraid is a bit of terrible business from MON in my opinion. He has cut his nose to spite his face. I'd rather we sold him for £15m or £16m and used the money on a quality player! Now we will lose one in 12 months and gain no money to replace him!
Having given up on their pursuit of Arshavin, Spurs are set to launch a shock bid for Emile Heskey. Ramos has identified the need for a greater physical presence up front and a daring 10m raid is being prepared for the highly talented front man. Ramos is a known admirer of big Emile having seen a bid rejected during his Seville days and hopes to tie up the deal before the transfer window closes.

Liverpool will be eager to sell Xabi Alonso to Arsenal in order to fund a move for Gareth Barry, however this sale would be a gamble, as they may not be able to sign Barry even after the sale of Alonso. If Arsenal do fail to sign Alonso then expect them to turn to Gokan Inler. Silvestre was reportedly undergoing a medical and Manchester City before he recieved a phone call telling him that Arsenal are also interested in him. He apparently abondoned his medical at City and went straight to Arsenal to meet Arsene Wenger.

Rafa has relectantly dropped his interest in Barry, for now! Rafa will now look to Stewart Downing to provide balance/width on the left. A opening bid of £11m will be made ahead of the match with Boro and negotiations will be held after the match. Shevchenko will move to Milan on loan for the season. Scolari will bid for Angel Di Maria of Benfica, who is atracting interest from Madrid as well as Joao Moutinho of Sporting Lisbon. Man Utd will up Berbatov bid to £25m and if rejected will then bid £18m for Huntellar. Arsenal will bring in Silvestre and Gokhan Inler. Newcastle will get Saviola on loan for 1m euros from Madrid. Ever Banega to join Athletico Madrid, Sunderland to sign Nikola Zigic for £5.5m from Valencia.
Who ever said that Barry was from Brighton was not quite right. He was actually from Hastings, and played for a local youth team called Spartans. I no this because i played against him once. He was a striker for them and scored a hat trick, which has always stuck in my mind. However he did join the Brighton and Hove Albion youth team which is where Villa poached him from for peanuts. He was not loyal to Brighton because he wanted to further his career so why Villa fans have given him such a hard time for wanting to join Liverpool and further his career is beyond me. However it appears he will stay for the time being and i doubt he will let them down.

As usuall expect the transfer market to hot up in the next few weeks. reason its been so slow is clubs are negotiating with several targets and clubs at once, eg is nufc and arsenal both being after similar cm targets, both clubs trying to get the best deal ie the cheapest given the prudence of the people that run both clubs. ive been told both are negotiating with udinese and gokhan inler and hernanes of sao paulo, nufcs negotiating team off this week round the world to try and get closer to a few deals. its like this with a lot of clubs ie man utd/spurs over berbatov/santa cruz/huntelaar, clubs are almost daring one another to make the first move as it then makes negotiating much easier as agents have less chance of playing clubs off against each other. thats all straight from a former player of nufc whos pally with the ex arsenal/spurs london crowd in football, that how he knows the crack with arsenals targets. whether its true i cant tell you until something happens like everyone else, im just repeating what i was told from someone that met this player recently and chatted to them briefly.
Dean Whitehead from Sunderland should be announced soon as a new Birmingham City player will sign for £1.2m.
A centre back for Birmingham is a priority so Rangers defender Christian Dailly has been lined up and should join for £1.5m.

To the fella keeping watch outside Anfield for the arrival of world class players – keep it up – I think it is wonderful one of our ardent fans is reporting to this site the wonderous goings on around that hallowed ground. Good news for the arsenal fans out there, Andrei Arshavin is set to lower his wage demands in order to push through a move to the emirates after seeing totenhams intrest droped.
In the wake of Arshavins move wenger will only be prepared to spend upto 10 million on a defensive minded midfielder targets are Gattuso and Inler all targets though if he can shift on Senderos, Eboue and Bendtner he may spend bigger on veloso or Alonso providing the prices aren't to high.
There may be a forward signing on loan with the option to buy, but not certain.

Fulham are interested in taking Johan Djourou on Loan. Djourou has been out of facour for a while, and finds himself behind Gallas, Toure, Senderos and now Silvestre.
With the signing of Mikael Silvestre, Arsenal could be tempted to sell Senderos to Newcastle who were reportedly taregeting the Swiss international, however they may no longer be interested now that they have signed Coloccini. The signing of Silvestre could mean that Arsenal may no longer want a midfielder, as they could play Silvestre alongside Gallas at centre back and move Kolo Toure into the anchoring centre midfield role that needs filling behing Fabregas, with Nasri and Rosicky on either wing. However I would much prefer Silvestre to be used as a back up defender and we sign a new midfielder, as Im sure most Arsenal fans would. We also look set to make a bid for Liverpools Xabi Alonso, who would link up very well with Cesc.

Since the American owners had sensationally pull the plug on Barry transfer, Rafa was left without any clue and reportedly he had a bust up with Rick Parry. He was devastated coupled with the snub from David Silva. He threatened the owners with his resignation but Tom Hicks talked him out and told him he'll support him with other transfer ideas except Barry. So reluctantly Rafa had to change his plan drastically. Now initially he wanted to sign Joe Cole and the board backed his idea, but this is unlikely as Chelsea doesn't want Liverpool to challenge them in the league with one of their own. Stuart Downing is the other option, but not versatile enough for Rafa. So the name came into calculation is Royston Drenthe who will cost 8 million. Real Madrid is also eager to offload the Dutchman. The negotiation is in advance stage and should be completed this week. Other transfer targets at the moment are Jeremy Menez (also 8 million) of Monaco who can play at the right and middle of the park, and Ibrahim Afellay of Dutch side PSV for 10 million who also can play in multiple positions around the park. One of these 2 transfers is likely to go thru' next week. Now Rafa is also trying to make a sensational swoop of 12 million rated Harnanes from Brazilian side Sao Paolo, who is dubbed as the next Kaka, but faces competition from Barcelona. Now with these 3 new faces coming in Rafa is going to offload Xabi Alonso (as their relationship is beyond repair) for 14 million to AC Milan as a surprise replacement for Kaka who's heading to Chelsea, Voronin to Hamburg for 5 million, Pennant to Blackburn for 6 million, Finnan to Boro for 2 million and Itanje to PSG for 1 million. But the inside information from Anfield is with his crazy obsession for Gareth Barry, Rafa has lost valuable support from Tom Hicks and this saga has brought Gillette and Hicks close together again and that is a real worry for Rafa.
Ryan Babel and Lucas are on the way back to Anfield, Liverpool will not be spending any more cash this summer unless the player or players valuations are dropped. Cash is being held in reserve for the January sales, this is because the Americans will support Benitez on a final push to win the EPL if Liverpool are in position otherwise if they are not Benitez will be out and the incoming manager will have funds available to strengthen the squad.
