Man city only signed 1 player in the window because in the summer thy will get rid of any unwanted players and make big signings.thy are hoping thy can make the champs league so that thy can attract the best players.

Little dissapointed spurs done nothing yesterday, but harry knows best. anyway, a pal of mine is on books at leicster (youth) and reckons everyone was excited y2day, thinking shay given was going to sign permanently, but city won't be without a proper recognised no2, he won't even go out on loan.

I was having dinner in the Standard (pub just by Melwood) today when a feller I know, who in the past has got little bits of inside info came in. We got chatting about the Transfer Window and the incomings at Liverpool, he reckons Kenny tried to get a 3rd striker who played in the German league but they were asking a bit to much, but he may go back in the summer. He said he heard his name was gus or gustfa or something like that.

so we have £35million plus whatever we get for selling players in the summer, and if ashley is kind enough maybe abit more for staying up. so lets say about 45-50million.
Hulk from porto would be a good replacement for carroll.
we need to strikers a cover left back and possibly a centre back.
Think ryan taylor and wayne routledge will go along with xisco. maybe smith & guthrie.
been linked with wolfswinkel in the past so maybe we will have another look. would like to see gary cahill and also N'Zogbia (NOT N'somnia like joe kinnear thought lol) back at the toon after he has had a good season at wigan. Maybe Mario Gomez from germany would be a good target man for the toon army. Some people might not know him but hes 6'4ft, 25years old, powerful and can have a leathal finish.
excited to see what the toon can do the summer 2011.

One england cap
Supossedly injured on a night out recently
2 convictions (both for assault. .)
Only player 91 times for NUFC
35million is a "fair" deal. I hope he still doesn't have to stay with Nolan because that would be awkward!
And if you think Im a bitter NUFC fan, your right, I think he's priceless. I have his name on the back of my shirt, but 35 million is still a massive gamble for Liverpool. Whatever the reason he left, good luck to him. All the best to a Geordie lad!

Van Der Wiell (spelling) from Ajax? Although no previous interest, we have money and he can't stay in Holland forever. after they let Suarez go for 13mill less then carroll it appears that Ajax is the place for a class bargain. Obviously this is poor speculation, but I am open to suggestions!

Love the site and had it on all day following the thrill of the countdown to the transfer window closing. Ed, got anything definitive on what happened with Charlie Adam? Really sad to see that business not happening as having him spraying around passes picking out Carroll and Suarez would have been great and if we were paying over the odds for Carroll a couple of million extra for Adam would seem like money well spent. {ed's note - simple really, Oyston refused to sell, he wouldn't even speak to Liverpool, even with Adam asking for a move.}

Newcastle: Pardew chasing Pato and/ or Hulk as a replacement for Carroll.
Although time was a factor, Pardew was handicapped by Newcastle only receiving £15 million up front for Carroll. The rest is being paid in installments with several add-on clauses as well.
Same as Steve Bruce at Sunderland only receiving £8 million for Bent because Spurs took the rest from what they were owed by Sunderland from the original deal as well as the pay-on clause.
Expect Pardew to return for Pato and/ or Hulk in the summer, with Hullk being the prime contender. Newcastle see him as the ideal targetman.

Heard a rumour that AFC Bournemouth might be denied promotion, because of their ground and finances.
Has anybody heard similar?
No.
1) They haven't gone up.
2) Ground is ok.
3) Over £1.5m has come in from transfers this season meaning they are in the black now.
4) As the FL monitor their signings closely still, they wouldn't have let them sign 2 players yesterday if there had been financial issues.

Charlie adam wanted to leave us, fact , was with him sunday , he was rowing with the oystons regarding the value of him! charlie thought 5/ 6 million, the oytsons said 12 mill, then upped it to 15 mill, just to put teams off! it nearly backfired with the late spurs bid!andy carroll is a good player , but 35 million! think liverpool have been had!

How does the court order bailing Carroll to live with Nolan affect his move to Merseyside. Will he have to commute from Newcastle or will he have to move in with Carragher or Gerrard. Perhaps he should move in with Kyrgiakos so they can share on hair care product costs.

Typical Ken Bates. Just when we needed to speculate and bring in some quality to push us to promotion we finish up saving money and basically getting nobody other than a third choice keeper. As always we were close to deals but he won't pay the wages. Think of the money you would rake in getting promoted Bates. Fair play to Simon Grayson though, he must get ped off having his hands tied and dealing in the loan / freebie market. It just shows what a top manager he is, getting us where we are.

Must admit i am a bit dissapointed we (leeds) didn't buy a defensive midfielder or new defender. i never thought we would be bringing in lots of new faces but 1 or 2 to freshen things up at the back would have been nice. but at least we kept hold of our first 11, after some good performances on telly a few prem clubs where sniffing around the likes of gradel, bechio, snodgrass, howson and shmichael. we also got rid of a lot of dead wood at the club .we had a massive squad of players who were not up to playin in the championship. i think we released or sold nearly 12 players, no offence to these players but it was good to get them of the wage bill. garyd MOT
