Without going overboard on Karanka’s favoured formation, it is difficult to see how Vossen would fit. so doesn't look like we going for vossen

boromad_1973

1.) Need to play 4-2-4 wingers and strikers works better strikers always benefit from a partner

Club closes in on Clayton signing.
Middlesbrough to complete the signing of Adam Clayton, with Jacob Butterfield going the other way.

Interest building in friend with only one year left on his contract

2.) Get him a new contract now and if he wants more wages give him them he's too good to let go and worth a extra wages

3.) I can see friend going, the club would rather get 3-4m than him leaving for free next year. I can't see him signing a new contract unless boro put a clause in saying he can go to a prem club for a certain amount.

4.) £4m for friend could be too much to turn down. Last year of contract so could lose him for nothing in 4 months time if he doesn't want to sign a new contract

5.) I think £4m is a good price. Might think Husband brought in to replace Friend?

I would like to see him stay and it will be interesting to see if Gibbo will continue to bank roll Karanka and offer a new contract to George!

6.) Yes but if boro get promoted I believe that he would sign new contract at the end of the season.

7.) He's priceless 4 mill is rubbish for what he's worth, we should give him an extra few grand a week

8.) 13 Aug 2014 16:02:55
But if we where to get promotion this season that price would surely double or treble, I say keep him try to get him to sign a new deal I' am sure he wants to stay. All the team is missing now is another striker and a couple of kids from Chelsea to stand in for injuries and we are laughing personally I'd love us to go and get Voosen I think for the price we'd pay for him its a bargain look at the lad Britt what ever it is from Peterborough to Forrest over 5 mill untested at this level ( I know voosen is too but older more experience played in champions league all adds up ) come on Boro last piece of the jigsaw.

9.) 4m for a championship player in the last year of his contract would be very, very hard to turn down. Especially since signing husband. For 4m i'd sell him

10.) 13 Aug 2014 19:40:13
The club are currently working on handing George a new and improved deal. There is nothing to these rumours.

11.) Sidgy, its not all about money, he will wanna play in prem and so why sign a contract tieing him down to a club that might get promoted when he can go to a club already in the prem. £4m is good money as he can sign for someone else in january for nothing, albeit he would have to see the season out at boro.

12.) I know he is a footballer and no one can turn down the prem opportunity, but I think cause of the fans connection to George, he'd never leave us on a free, if he wanted to leave I think he'd to the decent thing and leave this month so we get money, he's a good lad our George! At least he'll be here for the Leeds match! UTB

13.) The will be a day that George Friend will have to leave us but hopefully not this season. I think Boro need to offer George a new contract tomorrow, he's played fantastically, he's a good role model and professional and he deserves a new contract. He is usually on Late kick off on BBC and he always comes across as very humble and honest, and I would think that he is optimistic and he would like to stay. That said if he decided against a new contract, £4million would be a very good deal for all parties, knowing we signed him for £100,000 from Doncaster.

Middlesbrough have agreed a fee with Hajduk Split for right-back Avdija Vrsajevic with the Bosnian undergoing a medical on Teesside.

boromad_1973

1.) This will be another interesting one and will show our ambition. If Karanka is speaking the truth and wants two players for every position, we do need another RB. I heard that his work permit might take a while though.

Catalan player of Osasuna Damien Bee has undertaken travel to England to negotiate joining the Middlesbrough Aitor Karanka, within the policy of the club team alleviate Navarre and salaries after the reduction Liga Adelante.
This has been confirmed to Efe sources Pamplona club, which has given permission for Damien to reach an agreement with the English Second Division

just got this off a catalan web site

Damià Abella has already agreed personals, just waiting for last bit of paper work and international clearance.

2.) 08 Aug 2014 22:51:39
Celtic to move for Jason Steele to replace Fraser Forster who is due to sign for Southampton in the coming days. Fee for Steele rumoured to be around £2-£2.5m plus add ons.

Kei Kamara also linked with a move back to the MLS in the next week to ten days, just got to hope this deal goes through as he is surplus to requirements at the Riverside. Boro are hoping to recoup around £500k for the donkey.

Been told that the fee for Butterfield is £750k rising to £1m based on appearances. Sorry to see him go as he is a much better player than whitehead.

If all 3 deals are completed the funds (approx £4m) are to be put towards a left winger and striker that AK has been chasing all summer.

Loan deals for Bamford and Saville have stalled for different reasons. Mourinho is still to sanction the Bamford deal and saville is reluctant to move north. The saville deal is a short term loan with the view to a permanent deal, similar to tomlin last season.

AK has also enquired about Nathan Ake but mourinho sees him as part of the first team squad for this season after impressing in pre-season.

Despite signing Abella we are still looking for a second right back. Lowton deal proved too expensive and the move for Vrsajevic is proving difficult due to work permit issues.

Looks like being an interesting few weeks ahead but I think we would all agree that the squad is looking the strongest it has been for years. Particularly if we can bag the winger and striker Karanka has identified

3.) I have faith in karanka and the way the boro have gone about they're business this year has been good. So we may have to sacrafice butterfield but its only so we can bring in the targets that karanka has laid out, so far I feel his signings have been good although time will tell, butterfield was only a bit part player last season anyway. Well i'm off for a few pints before heading to the riverside, happy new season and all the best! UTB!

4.) 09 Aug 2014 11:33:43
Good stuff Smogmonster.
I hear the Celtic offer has been made, but they only value Steele at 1m.
Barring the conclusion of the Clayton deal, Bamford should be here next week but I gather Saville would prefer to stay down south, alerting Brentford and Bournemouth.
By all accounts we will sign Graham this week after dropping interest in Vossen.
This will leave additional funds for a winger, all of the talk inside club is that this will be a marquee signing.
Anyone got an idea who this is?

5.) Going to the game today season ticket holder very disappointed all ready with the lineups no omeruo or butterfiled or Rhys Williams seriously need to get more players looking at the bench it's terrible no options left I hope Butterfield isn't going but there isn't carayol ledesma cause injured so it will be abut better whn he comes back but Hines man is the worst player ever and he's playibg

6.) Williams is injured, butterfield flatters to deceive and hines has had a stormer so far. Hope you get disapointed more because you don't seem to know anything

7.) I heard that the deal for Danny Graham was too expensive seeing as he earns 40k a week a Blunderland.

Still think there is an outside chance of the Vossen deal happening.

8.) I am a season ticket holder and went to the game today and tbh yeah when I saw the team before the game I thought why Hines? But when he played my god he was on the money! Solid at the back, might be slow but can't fault the lad, did the boro proud today, also Rhys Williams is injured until January, same as carayol, and tbh from our performance today didn't think we needed Rhys, muzzy or ledesma involved, kike is unbelievable, so is the football we are starting to play, that free kick?! Even Birmingham were shocked! - also clayton deal off as he is off to Brighton - butterfield already signed for huddersfield (haha jokes on him bottom of the league on day one) - so we will looking to loan in nathen ake to play in the position butterfield has left (on the bench!) dean whitehead and leadbitter we're solid today! Also lee tomlin my hat goes off to the lad! Top quality with kike today! We're guna win the World Cup! C'mon lads!

9.) 09 Aug 2014 19:00:10
Sidgy, Williams is injured and Omeruo is not fully fit. Butterfield is in talks with Huddersfield
