Did someone say Doncaster are only after cheap players?, that's not entirely true, yes they've got to sell to reduce to wage budget but they'll spend money on the right players, as prooved with the 1.2 million purchase of Billy Sharp a few years ago. Former Barnet striker Izale McLeod has revealed that he is close to joining a new mystery club over the next week.

The 27-year-old finished last season as the joint top scorer in League Two after netting 18 times for the struggling Bees.

McLeod has been linked with several League One and League Two sides, including Portsmouth and Crawley, since his contract expired at Underhill and he told Sky Sports that he is looking forward to starting life at a new unnamed outfit shortly.

"Hopefully, I'll be signing for a new club shortly because I've been in talks with one in particular for a while now and we are very close to completing things, which is great because pre-season will be starting next week.

"I don't really want to say what club it is or what division they are in at the moment, but it is a club which match my ambitions for the upcoming season.

"I'm an experienced player now that wants to win things and help a club achieve what they set out to do.

"I'm confident in my ability to score goals at whatever level I'm playing at and I just can't wait to get pre-season training started and hit the ground running again.

"There has been quite a bit of interest over the summer, but hopefully this one will be the one I sign for and it is just a case of dotting the i's and crossing the t's." - chris

This isn't a rumour, just fact. Gus said that we needed a goalkeeper, cover for both fullbacks, a central midfielder, a striker (target man) and Vicente. We've signed a goalkeeper, 2 fullbacks and Vicente. Now we only need a midfielder and a striker (unless someone leaves & Gus feels we need a replacement who can improve the squad, he won't sign just anyone to keep the squad number the same) and we've not paid a transfer fee yet. Let's have some names of who you think these players could be, let's all try and be realistic.

Matthew Lund will join Bristol Rovers this week on a season long loan from Stoke City .

The deal will be the catalyst to Matt Gill and Joe Anyinsah leaving the club.

Gill is wanted by Luton who are negotiating a small fee for the player, whilst Anyinsah is destined for Cheltenham.

Rovers have not given up on Eunan O'Kane despite advances from League One clubs. O'Kane has a respect for Shaun North from their days at Torquay together and Rovers have the financial ability to match their higher league rivals.

I think that sunderland fan that posted that norwich will finih bottom of the table should be more worried about his own team as we finished in almost same pos as they did and scoted more goals. I would look at how far u are behinh newcastle its becoming a habit

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Becoming a habit? finished behind them once in the last 4 years... not a habbit in my opinion

Agree1 Disagree0

Another geordie on an ego trip as the above lad said 1 time ahead of us in 4 years and what O'neill did for us after bruce had us in a relegation battle was amazing! now O'neill will have funds to get his own players in and I fancy Sunderland to be in the top ten next season, the sad newcastle fan should be worrying about his own club as spme of their better players will be sold and they will have to balance europe with the premiership. I think Norwich will be in a relegation battle but keeping Holt may save them for another season!

Think that just about covers every possible location, can he just move somewhere soon or just sign another contract so its OVER, really bored of Jordan Rhodes stories.

Prem bottom half

11 Stoke
12 Aston Villa
13 QPR
14 WBA
15 Southampton
16 Reading
17 Swansea
18 Wigan
19 West Ham
20 Norwich

Think Hughton will need a miracle to keep Norwich up, has made a couple of decent signings but really don't even with a couple more it will be enough.
West Ham's squad looks like falling short to me.
& it could be one season too many for Wigan you would think.
Obviously this is early doors and a lot will happen with teams bringing in more players and a lot will depend on some new managers and how long they will be given, slightly concerned over Swansea who have lost their manager and not been able to sign who appeared as an outsider as their best player last season (Swans fans may correct me on that)

Whatever happens it looks like an ineresting season at the bottom. Just hope we won't be joinging you there (Sunderland fan)

Believable7 Unbelievable4

My bottom 6
15 Aston villa
16 Swansea
17 West Ham
18 Reading
19 Soton
20 Norwich

Agree3 Disagree5

As a Reading supporter, I am inclined to think this might not be bad. We are certainly not going to be the worst team in the Division, but I think you could probably turn Reading and Southampton around. West Ham fans themselves are worried about their investment, Norwich I think with their new Manager and second season syndrome will struggle, not sure if the other team in the dreaded drop zone will be Swansea or Wigan. I think Wigan might be the new Coventry who for years remained in the top flight narrowly missing out every season, and I like Wigan. Always good to see a club with a small budget being run so well that they can match the big boys. Wimbledon used to be the same. Small attendances, small budget but always sprung surprises.
My estimate for bottom three is Norwich bottom (sorry Norwich fans but I really think you are going to have a struggle), then West Ham then Swansea, followed by Wigan,Southampton, then Reading, QPR, Villa and WBA. Think Fulham might be in the bottom half at the expense of Stoke, who I think are going to be the dark horses. Totteham and Liverpool will be mid table too. Don't rate AVB at all although I think Siggurdsson will be a good signing for them, and Brendan Rodgers has bitten off more than he can chew at Liverpool and will be a huge flop, and out of a job by Christmas with Liverpool languishing in the bottom half, before recovering to finish about 7th or 8th with another new manager. This will be Alex Fergusons last season as a Manager as he watches his Man Utd team win nothing for the second season in a row... Big name form Europe to take over for 2013/2014

Agree0 Disagree4

I have to agree with the first post although I can see reading and Southampton higher up

Thank you Ed003 perfectly put.
Nothing at all to do with saving face (not sure what you mean) or not having faith or belief.
Have supported saints for 30 years and seen a lot of ups and downs. We have had a fantastic couple of seasons but perspective is needed. Some on here are like excitable children who think that just because Norwich and Swansea succeeded last season then it will be a breeze for us. Well it won't and last season was a bit of a one off. Cold , hard stats will tell you that usually newly promoted clubs find it hard in the first couple of years. Nobody would be happier than me if we got into the Europa league spots. I don't think we'll be in a relegation fight as it happens but to dismiss the possibility is just laughably naive.
I repeat this is a very tough league that has got tougher since we were last in it.
I have no interest in scrapping with fellow saints fans, we are all in this as one but understand that you can be excited, full of support and confidence and have faith and belief in your club whilst exercising a spot of realism and perspective.
