Southend's move for Jonathan Forte is dead after the forward could not agree a pay-off with Southampton. Shrimpers boss Phil Brown is hoping to bring in an un-named striker who he worked with at Hull City instead.

As daft as it may sound, West Ham could do a lot worse than to try and get Moussa Sow or Dirk Kuyt from Fenerbahce who have just got Eminike

As a Spurs fan I;m happy to report the signature of Roberto Soldado, I just hope we can now keep hold of Gareth Bale. On another note, hope we also keep Jermain defoe or at least sell him off to anyone else but Sam Allardyce and his unhappy hammers with no striker LMAO. Please answer me this, Why would any person manager be preparing to start a new season without a fit out and out striker. They have Ricardo Vaz Te (useless), Modibo Maiga (lost up front on his own) and Carroll (over priced waste of space). Don't the West Ham hierarchy realise you can't cut corners in the premier league. If you want qulaity you have to pay for it. Hope they get their just deserts against Cardiff and get a beating

Just so you no most west ham fans wouldn't want defoe back full stop we are a club that has somewhere of the region 70 millin in debt which g/s has reduced from 100 million there aim is to be debt free by the time we move the o/s. so worry about your team your just a nearly team

It's not all doom and gloom for west ham, Ravel Morrison has been a revelation since returning to the fold, and Alou Diarra looks like he could make a useful contribution during the coming season, but a strike force shorn of three players is a worrying prospect. Last season's success was based on hitting the ground running and accumulating a safety bracket of points for when things went belly up, this season a good start will be even more crucial.
Apparently money is not an issue (hmm), but potential recruits don't want to play second fiddle to Andy Carroll, what a load of tosh! And if the prospect of not being the main man is too repugnant, then the club should lie, just like every other club does, after all did Swansea tell Bony he would share top billing with Michu? One thing for sure, the owners at west ham need to dig deep and they need to dig deep now and find a player worthy of calling a striker

Just been reading west ham blogs and a name that's appeared from the past would be great attribute is Durk Kuyt. Good out wide and can play as out and out forward

I think its safe to say that West Ham are waiting for clubs to announce the 25 man squads for next season so they can pick up some loan bargains at the right price so you can forget DEFOE, ODEMWINGIE, SINCLAIR and any other player where west ham have to pay fee. I hear Kenwynne Jones may be available on a free but west ham may face stiff competition from championship sides also after his signature.

Something fishy going on at West ham and this is not the first time? How come they pulled out of a move for Zapata because they couldn;t get work permit and yet QPR reckon they can and at £3.3m. Sounds very dodgy just like the Bony Saga where they apparently had him signed sealed and delivered. Chelsea were the only other interested team and then suddenly Swansea were the front runners on a player West ham had apparently tied up but Swansea were getting him at lower price?? I think its about time their was a change at West ham starting with Allardyce. He;s was ted what budget West Ham have on one player who's not going to get more than a Dozen goals this season (if he stays fit). Nice to see clubs like Norwich who know where they need to improve go out and do something about it (and don't whine on to me about £70m in debt). If the owners know they are deep in debt why waste what funds they have on a donkey like Carroll.

A lot of talk about west ham being interested in Peter Odemwigie as are Fulham. Both clubs however have already had bids turned down by WBA

Really can't West Ham signing another attacking midfielder
The Davids clearly think we only need another striker.

If we played two up front and made that public, we could
attract a half decent striker, but nobody wants to be a number
2 especially to a "billy big boots" like AC so we will get an
average Striker at best, AC will get injured and we'll be stuffed.

West Bromwich Albion have enquired about taking Anderson on loan from Manchester United. However, any deal for Anderson hinges on the Red Devils securing the arrival of one of their midfield transfer targets. Expect West Brom to monitor the situation with any developments, if any, taking place closer to the 2nd September.
