OOH! Those grapes get more sour by the minute!
If we are so poor to be in league one next season -how come we beat you!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Cos you were the better team on the day, but don't go fooling yourself that it makes you the better team, the final league positions are decided after 46 games, not 1.

Haha grow up and stop crying because you missed out on Rodriguez. You are a decent club but you think you are ALOT better than you really are. Looking forward to seeing you on the 24th when Jay can put you to shame and show you why he didn't leave Burnley to become a mercenary

Burnely are a tiny club compared to southampton easily

Believable0 Unbelievable6

How many times have Saints won the league title?

Burnley 2 Southampton 0.

Agree0 Disagree0

Two completely insignificant clubs are battling to overcome a football rumours board. Congratulations. To the rest of the footballing world, you are tiny. Save it for the playground, kiddywinks. {Ed025's Note - a bit like ..jedward..

Agree0 Disagree0

Your just small clubs like Swansea, QPR and Norwich get over it

Agree0 Disagree0

Boys going on and on about judging things according to size- always suspicious...

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Jedward command more slightly more respect to be honest.

i wonder how many people would agree stoke have made a massive mistake in paying 10 mill for peter crouch i think he scored 4 goals last season
[prem] he is the only striker ive seen to be beaten to a header by michael owen and he,s going to be 31 soon no wonder arry redknapp could,nt keep a straight face when he left whl the other night

-------------------------------------

Absolutely right.....if Crouch had fetched £3 million that would have been over the top. Pulis is usually so shrewd, Upson and Woodgate are bothe very intelligent signings given the way Stoke ply......Credit to Pulis.....but Crouch massively over priced and frankly no better than what they have.....possibly biggest mistake of the window.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

No way is crouch worth ten mil stoke could have got a better strker for less than that much such as n'gog

Who gives a that J Rod stayed at Burney, Southampton have some good strikers at the mo and can also score all over the midfield and wings.

A player can be individually good but if he doesn't merge with the team then this can impact his performance. Look at Torres for a good example.

My point is i'd rather have a good team of players that know each other inside out that a bunch of indivdual players thrown together.

Southampton have build a good foundation for the start of this campaign and so far have had good results. If the team needs stengthening come Jan 2012 then improvements to the squad will be made.

Keep your J Rod Burnley, as one man don't make a team.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Quite. Although, Lallana is allegedly the best player in Europe and worth £15m plus. Can you Saints and Clarets stop this dull rumour now the window is closed? No one cares, although it has cultivated something of a dislike for self-important Southampton fans (i.e. not all of them) for the casual football rumour observer.

Agree0 Disagree0

One man team ? tell that to Charlie Austin, Keith Treacy, Chris Mccann, Ross Wallace, Zavon Hines and Junior Stanislas .... we will be right up there this season don't worry about that my southern chum !

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard Lallana is actually heir to Emperor Charlemagne and so good that his passing opens up the soul to gift of tongues. Indeed, there are rumours in Southampton that he cured a lame horse with a simple, humble kiss. Sadly, he cannot cure the delusions of the twenty thousand blind men in the stands at St. Marys though. {Ed025's Note - i enjoyed that..

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds who enjoyed 'Lallana' might also enjoy 'Smell My Sausage' or similar on qpr banter.

Hi Eds, as usual a great job! On the Meireles transfer,
this is just an observation but please post as I want to know what you think.
Againts Arsenal, when the second goal was scored by Suarez, was Meireles showing the finger to anyone during the celebrations? Lucas quickly grabbed Meireles' hand and hid the finger but was that towards the bench? Have a look at it, you'll see what I mean everyone!
Maybe it was the best thing to happen for him to move to Chelsea...and good luck Raul for what you did for lfc. {Ed001's Note - it was at someone, but only because of an in game incident apparently. It was nothing to do with his sale, which had been anticipated before the window opened.}

Wolves can be satisfied with the close season business.

Only 3 new arrivals of which 2 will be regulars. Yet this means the harmony of the club remains. Johnson has made his mark straight away with team mates and Ohara was tried and tested.

Add to this that the full squad is nearing full fitness something that was not the case 12-months ago.

The wage bill has been slashed to allow for two of the top earners at the club to arrive with those surplus to requirement players shipped out or at worst most there wage passed onto to a third party for the foreseeable with them in the shop window for a sale. On top of this a number of the promising youngsters are out getting 1st team experience either in SPL or football league.

All in all sensible business. Only disappointment being we did not land a fifth forward as I remain unconvinced on Vokes (hope to be proven wrong) and with Edwards being injury prone as he is I would liked to have seen Lansbury choose us over West Ham but guess he is looking for the guarantee of a start each week which was going to be difficult here due to McCarthy having his preferred middle of the park two-some.

Wolves will build on their start and continue development in very similar vein to what Stoke have achieved. I suspect Wolves to finish between 12-15th this season with McCarthy's 47 point prediction not far off. With all the West Midland clubs to have an above par season, including Birmingham.

As for rumour I suspect Wolves to return to sign Ridgewell in January from the Blues.

Brighton fans don't have to worry about Blackburn Rovers signing their man unless he is happy to wait until January to play. Blackburn squad already registered with the Premier League.

Haha stupid burnley fans saints don't need overrated Jay rod we have already got a great set of players so u can keep Jay rod and look forward to league 1 for u next year

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Adkins and Cortese seem to rate Jay Rod and are willing to pay £5 million for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why doesn't Cortese just buy Burnley - he obviously rates most Clarets' players and wants them to replace the average dross they have at Southampton.

I am surprised they did not try to sign self-confessed lifelong Saints fan Wade Eliott. He may be nearly 33 now but Birmingham paid £500,000 for him so obviously rate him. Cork only cost £750,000 and he is only 22 so Wade, at his peak, was a far better player.

Agree0 Disagree0

What about Leon Cort? He could solve your central defence problems and would easily fit into Saints' wage structure on £15,000 a week.

Laughing at Burnley fans who are mouthing off because they kept Jay Rodriguez, tbh, it's out of relief because you lost so many other players.
Danny Fox, Jack Cork, Wade Elliot, Chris Eagles, Tyrone Mears, anyone I've missed? And replaced them with Ballmouth players.
Jay Rodriguez just doesn't want to leave his mummy.
-------------------------------------------------
the reason Jay rod did not join Saints is because he wanted to much money..so don't give me all this crap about loyalty, had Saints bowed to his demands he would have been out of turf Moor on the first bus, Saints would not break their wage structure for the player...he thought he was a big time charlie and could demand what he wanted but we quite simply told him to DO ONE.... End of

Believable1 Unbelievable0

If Saints are stupid enough to pay a useless donkey like Danny Fox £17k a week, Rodriguez knows he is worth a hell of a lot more. Saints have NO wage structure and pay silly money for ordinary players. They'll be bankrupt again soon I predict.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jay didn't demand any kind of stupid money. That's your only excuse becuase you missed out on your target and you have to have a reason for it .... he just turned you down, get over it.

Bigger and Better... yeah, rightho! Your bubble has already been burst, see how the rest of us fall about laughing when you fail to repair it and slide all the way back down to where you belong, tata----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have lost one game and you are saying our bubble has burst...what a D##k, who is your team or are you to embarrassed to say.
We build bit by bit at St Mary's unlike a few teams in this league

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Southampton's rightful place is a mid-table Championship club - they'll find their level soon enough.
