Leicester City have tabled a final bid for Nicky Maynard. In the region of 5.5mil, this is 4 million plus add ons such as appearances and promotion

If Bristol City turn this down, Leicester will be back in for Yakubu The others on his shortlist are Shane Long and Ebanks Blake.

Its a FACT there will be a striker in before the Coventry game as the Madrid game has came too soon for medicals etc

Thanks

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Wow, Sven has said, plenty of times, that he's chasing more than one striker and that he hopes to get a deal in place asap.

So you've basically copied what he has said and wrote FACT at the end just to convince us, for added measure you even threw in a few names that have been bandied around for weeks now, well done.

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't want Maynard anymore. Sven is trying his best to convince Mattia Destro or Khouma Babacar to come to the KP Stadium.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont know alot about Maynard but ive seen some big prices mentioned is he really that good seems like alot for lower legue player

Just seen nicky Maynard in marriot hotel in Leicester looking like he had signed a lucrative contract {Ed003's Note - how do you look like you've si.....doesnt matter}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

To have seen him inside the hotel, that meant you were there too and in that case, what were you doing inside a hotel?

And a point to make to the ED003, Maynard probably had a huge grin on his face. To be honest, if I was him, I'd be all too concerned about finding somewhere to live, settling down and the pressure of upping sticks to join Sven's revolution before I could grin.

But then in saying that, it didn't happen did it, poster?

He is heading to the prem either with us or a prem club. You are just a joke with all this rubbish on here. HAHA get in the real world mate. You are 5 years off the prem at least you can't seriously believe that because you have a half decent striker that you have the strength in depth to get out. LCFC are now the only club willing to continue negotiations with BCFC over the potential sale of Nicky Maynard, after 4 other teams (1 Prem) where astonished with the ammount demanded for the player, who still carnt train fully and won't be able to for another year at the least because of a serious knee injury substained last year, combined with 1 year left on contract.

A final offer has been rumoured to have been put through from LCFC a couple of weeks ago. But this has just been to test the reaction of BCFC to figure the true price it will cost.

The true final offer will be put forward tomorrow, and if accepted will be a speedy transaction as LCFC look to prep for the huge weekend game against Madrid. If rejected Nicky will be left untill his contract expires and picked up free next year, Sven has a back up plan too.

It is obviously too early to predict next season, although the Champions League places are likely to be contested by all the 'usual suspects'. A lot will depend on what happens in the next month.

So far, clubs have been playing 'hardball' over transfer fees, so there has been very little significant transfer action. Until we know what happens with Tevez, Aguero, Sneijder, Nasri, Fabregas, Modric etc. won't know who is likely to perform well in the Premiership next year.

Chelsea have a very experienced defence so might be able to grind their way to another title, as you suggest, but the previous poster is right to point out that they have let their team get too old.

Lampard (33), Drogba (33) Anelka (32) and Malouda (31) will all be declining assets next year and they are hard acts to follow. If Torres comes good this squad might still have enough to mount one more serious title challenge, but if he struggles Chelsea could be short of goals next season.

Manchester United also need to refresh their squad. I am not sure that Ashley Young is going to take them forward - but who knows?

Man City still have the cash and the will to spend it, but are struggling to secure the players they really want. If they lose Tevez then I am not sure the rest of the squad is that good.

Liverpool certainly has the history and in the second half of last season managed to put together the sort of run that suggests they might be able to force their way back into the top four. However, that may just have been 'new manager syndrome' and the jury is still out on the players they have added to their squad.

Everybody seems to have written Arsenal off, but forget that for much of last season they were serious title contenders. If they hang on to Fabregas and Nasri, add a bit of bite to their midfield and defence and if Van Persie manages to give them a full season, they could be the surprise packet.

Similarly, Spurs need to hang on to Modric and Bale and must find a quality striker to lead the line. If they do, then I would not discount them as serious contenders for a top four spot. In the past six years, they have finished 4th on one occasion and 5th on three others. With their relatively young squad there is no reason why they should be regarded as a spent force.

We will see what we will see.

Having spent an unsuccessful spell at Palace last season, this is a little surprising, however Edgar Davids has suggested that his 16 year old son signs for them as he admires the vision Dougie Freedman is showng. I don't know much about him, but apparently he is as good as his dad was at that age so sounds promising. Palace are also being loosely linked with Jake Forster-Caskey of Brighton amid speculation that Poyet won't put him in the squad this season now that the subs bench has been reduced from 7 to 5.

I've got no idea why people spend all their time squabbling about which team is the best when the season hasn't even kicked off, shouldn't we wait until May before bragging about how super we are?

Thus far, Leicester are attempting to buy the Championship and some dullards think they're going to sign 'every player ever'. Some of their fans think they'll win every game whilst others are more realistic but everyone hates a team with money so what the hell, oh and Sven is rubbish.

Forest think they're amazing and point to 30yr old trophies and previous league positions as proof of that. I think it has escaped them that they're still in the Championship despite being so brilliant and it's also escaped them that last seasons final position counts for nothing in the new season.

Brighton are flapping their gums for all their worth and are a shoo-in for the automatic promotion places if you listen to (some of) their fans. They've made one high profile signing of an untested striker and are booking their Champions league places already.

Leeds are still in the doldrums but that's not stopping their fans from following Forest's example as they point to success in the 70's as living, breathing proof of their wonderfulness (a new word i think?) they have zero money to spend but link themselves with nigh on every worthwhile player out there, and Alan Smith too.

West Ham are going about their business quietly although one or two of their fans have started bragging about their 2011-12 Championship title already, a dangerous game for a relegated side to play. Occasionally ex-prem teams bounce back, but it's actually rarer than you might think and i suspect they're going to get a shock.

Blackpool have been super-quiet since maximus swallowed his own head and had a tantrum. He's still clearly sulking and so we have nobody fighting in the Orange corner, perhaps that's a good thing as Ollie is as mad as a biscuit and Kevin Phillips is old.

Bristol City are in danger of losing themselves up their own egos. If you listen to them, their one good player is now worth £10m and they are utterly convinced that he loves them, despite him refusing to sign a new deal that has been on the table for 2 months now. Buy some defenders and maybe you won't lose to Yeovil again chaps.

My brew is ready now so i'll leave it there, suffice to say, this is intended to be a fun site, don't take everything so seriously fellas. Calm down and enjoy the banter for what it is, and don't take the rumours to heart either. Do you honestly think some bloke on the interweb is going to break a confidence and blab the intimate details of a pending deal when even the press don't know the score?

( So what if we go on about signing this player or that player as a Brighton fan and I speak for all the other teams fans we are entitled to brag about our teams because we are passionate about football and yeah sometimes we go over the top but who cares that's what makes football exciting. so shutttt iiittttt {Ed003's Note -

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Did you ask all the other teams fans before taking it upon yourself to speak for them only i see plenty of people who are sick to death of dreamers like you posting utter nonsense for the sake of it. There's a very big difference between posting rumours and posting your wet dream version of reality. Hargreaves to Brighton? Keane to Brighton? Berbatov to Brighton? does this make you passionate or deluded?

Right then Folks How Many of you think that Swansea will come down?, I'm A fan of the club so maybe my heart is ruling my head but here are a couple of reasons.

I think QPR are certs for bottom, I feel sorry for the fans but their board are wastes of space, that's all they want to do is argue amongst themselves on who has the most money and who controls the club, the best thing that could happen to QPR is one of the board buys out the rest and takes some responsibility, give Warnock some descent coin to spend, as for the current team, very average in the last half of the season, and without Taarabat (without doubt the best player in the Championship last year) are going to find life very difficult in the Premier league.

Wigan will struggle Again, I Am not Martinez biggest fan after the way he conducted himself a few years ago (publicly Persecuted players for wanting to leave and then F*ked off himself when a Premier league club came in for him, This I'm a saint because i didn't go to villa is sht, if the deal was right he would have gone) but wigan have been spending big for a while now and for the last couple of years have lingered far to long at the wrong end of the table when sides that spend similar amounts are now established and seem to look more secure (WBA, FULHAM, SUNDERLAND), think this is the year when the bubble bursts.

Of the more established sides I Think Blackburn could also struggle this year, Nothing against their manager i think he will end up being the first manager casualty of the season, they are not spending so will be no better than last year and the board seem to be full of false promises, I Know their fans wont like this but i reckon Newcastle could also be in the mix, We played them season before last at the liberty and the carthorse that's just gone to Liverpool (probably the best bit of business on the history of transfers from Newcastle's point of View) scored the Equalizer in the last 5 Mins, the way they celebrated you would swear they had just won the Champions league, we had 80% of the possession and that was they're only shot on target, and truth be told we Mucked up at the back, I saw nothing different every time i saw them last year.

Along with the other candidates, Norwich, Wolves and of course ourselves I Feel it could be a close battle of any 2 of the 6 clubs mentioned for the 18/19 places and I Feel 16-17 is well within the swans reach.
---------------------------------------------------- Its great to see a welsh team in the prem and the only reason why people are saying swansea will go down is because they're welsh, I support wigan and im just saying that you dont like Martinez, but wouldn't you go to a premier league club instead of managing a championship one.And he's got great memories at wigan like being one of the three amigos, Its too early to say that swansea will go down or wigan you never know.

Andy Webster's future at Hearts is in doubt. Although he has signed a 3 year deal, the Heart's Management team are very concerned about Webster's mental state. He was subbed after 7 minutes of the game against Rangers not, as was claimed due to a groin injury, but because mentally he could not cope. This mental problem has dogged Webster for the past 2 years and if anything appears to be getting worse.

He doesnt want to go to rangers and they have no money. he is too good for rangers. i have good sources who tell me 10 clubs have bid for goodwillie including top flight english teams. he has got common sense not to go to rangers.

Firstly mate you know nothing about how much money Rangers have to spend, secondly how can he be too good for Rangers when Rangers already have better players than him, thirdly your sources? it was all over the radio about the 10 teams supposidly after him, and lastly about his common sense, if he had common sense then maybe wouldn't get himself in a position that he is exposed to allegations of rape or get himself charged with assault, my conclusion is you are a muppet, watp

It was also all over the media that Whyte gave McCoist 15 million to spend. And that was after we bought Ortiz and tied our best players down to 5 year deals. The only cash spend out the kitty is the £1.2 million we spent on Lee Wallace.

With QPR at the moment it seems that any money coming in belongs to the Board and that any money going out is to be paid by the club, their commitment to the club is obvious -- ZERO

Villa spending will stop after Charlie signs this week. AM still wants Hutton and would like to continue his pursuit of Parker if allowed, but Lerner is re-couping money after MON's disaterous approach to transfers.

My brew is ready now so i'll leave it there, suffice to say, this is intended to be a fun site, don't take everything so seriously fellas. Calm down and enjoy the banter for what it is, and don't take the rumours to heart either. Do you honestly think some bloke on the interweb is going to break a confidence and blab the intimate details of a pending deal when even the press don't know the score? {Ed003's Note - It's Tangerine not Orange}

Lol as a Leeds fan I'm sick of the negativity but can appreciate why we're naffed off. Grayson deserves our backing it's just Ken Bates I can't stand - I'm not asking for Publicity Pete Ridsdale style signings, just a bit more appreciation given weve allegedly spent £7m on corporate goings on in the East Stand.
Ps Leicester will be under pressure due to spending but that team needs to gel together. Going to be an intriguing season, West Ham may be ones to watch.

I doubt anybody would actually "watch" West Spam, under Allardyce.

amazin how you can predict exact league positions for the up coming season, if you can do this surley you must be a millionaire.unlike alot of you seem to think I am a leeds fan who is very excited about the season, weve kept hold of gradel and snodgrass who you all have been banging on all summer that they would definately go, they are by far the two best wide attacking players in the league.as for liecster please, tell me what erikson has achieved in this country with loads of cash at his disposal....just about zero really ....and he bought loads of players at city which all left the club for nothing a few seasons later top one. if you think casper is a good goalie after one pre season friendly then good luck to you, I watched him 18 times last season and he was a nightmare

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To sum up: Leeds are awesome, if you could bottle 'fantastic' it would come with a Leeds Utd label on and everyone would love it. Leicester meanwhile are utter rubbish and Sven is the personification of useless, if you could bottle 'crap' (i guess you could actually) it would come with Svens face on the bottle and be sold for 12 pee...

Brilliant, no bias there whatsoever, thanks for sharing with the group. Try not to eat too many crayons.

There are 3 teams in the Championship that have a lot of money. It is well documented that these teams are Leicester, Brighton and Southampton. Now what are the differences in the 3? Well there's 1, Leicester are buying promotion, or attempting to. In my opinion the south coast teams have got it right, build steady. As they are both capable of imitating Leicester and fair play to them. I just hope Leicester do win the league, as I don't think I would survive if they didn't, I would laugh too much

Everyone has been saying that Leicester are attempting to buy promotion but I cannot see how they are. At the end of last season we finished with PVA, naughton, mee, bruma. To make everyone happy would Leicester have to get more defenders on loan instead to stop the jealously.
