After a terrific season in the premier league, Head Coach Steve Clark may be a wanted man with the massive manager shuffle the Premier League is experiencing at present. Although the Manager of the Season contender is happy at the hawthorns, the lure of real Premier League clubs may be too strong for his loyalty.

In the very likely event of Clarke staying in West Bromwich, he will have to scrape the little money he has together to purhase good players. He is proven to sign good players on the cheap that will no doubt leave when bigger clubs, such as Stoke, start circling. The likes of Giorgio Samaras from celtic and Shaun Derry from QPR are said to be first in line to wear the classic blue and white shirt next season, while Charlie Austin and James McFadden both rule themselves out of the move.

With defenders due to depart, another rumor gathering momentum is disgraced defender Roger Johnson opting to stay in the midlands and hopes for WBA to give him a premier league lifeline. Also, Titus Bramble and Gary Caldwell seem to be on the cards due to the relegation of Wigan Athletic.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Since when were Stoke a bigger club than Albion, oh yea, never

Wow! A friend just rang me and told me that he was sitting at a table in the Shore Cafe, sandbanks poole and overheard a conversation.
He didn't know who these people were as he don't support football but he said they were saying the reason a Temp South stand is going up is that the club might move location. If next season is a massive success and is sold out for most matches then it is on the cards due to partly the landlord, but also Bournemouth Council was mentioned as well as there is only one road to exit the stadium. The view was AFCB may out grow Dean Court.
There was no mention where the club would move to.

My HUMBLE opinion is the Russians are here to stay and expand the club into a Reading or Brighton but it depends all on next season.

A pattern is starting to emerge. if a player is linked with Southampton its a case of "if we want him we'll get him" but yet if a player is linked with a move away from Southampton its a case of "he'll never leave us" granted in this instance i'd imagine Cork wouldn't want to drop a division as he is most certainly a prem player but it's time a lot of Saints fans woke up and realised that you are a small club and if a club of a decent size comes in for a player they WILL go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

'if we want him we'll get him' - see the Erik Lamela rumour to disprove that one, although Ed016 is not discounting it. As for the rest of your post, whatever. Funny how people make these statements but never leave a name.

Apparently Brands was recommended to Ipswich by former fullback Fabien Wilnis. Brands is keen, but wages could be a stumbling block, talks are due to be held after the weekend in Suffolk. The fee is likely to be minimal due to Willem II's relegation and Brands's lack of appearances.

Eddie Howe has been linked with numerous jobs in the past few days however he will only leave for a Premier League club and one which is within commutable distance which rules out Everton and Stoke.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would he leave the future Premier League and Champion's League winners for some other, smaller team? Like Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal etc.

There are lots of Southampton FC transfer rumours flying around already so I thought I'd try and add a bit of logic to it. Feel free to shoot me down. Saints will be entering the transfer market for the following reasons:
1. Replace exiting 1st teamers.
2. Strengthen weak areas in the side.
3. Add depth to the squad.

1. Two of the most confusing/worrying rumours so far are those involving Jose Enrique and Wanyama. These players will surely only join if Shaw and Schneiderlin are going? I believe in strength in depth but None of the above players will be happy sitting on the bench much will they. The same goes for Jesus Gamez. Will he start or will Clyne? They seem strange areas to be splashing the cash on? MS and JC are outstanding, I don't believe we need to spend in this area.
2. For me there are really two priority areas. We need a centre back and we need a striker. Poch has improved the backline but in terms of personnel we can get better. I think Jos will be gone this summer. We need a top notch CB to lead the backline leaving Fonte, Yoshida, Stephens and Forren to healthily battle for the other spot. I am crossing my fingers for Victor Ruiz personally. Now I love Ricky as much as the next saint but he is the wrong side of 30 now and Poch's energy sapping style means he will be used more sparingly next season. Sure he'll start a fair bit but expect to seem him used as impact off the bench too.
Lee, Guly and Sharp will be sold I think leaving JRod, Mayuka and a new signing to battle it out with Ricky. Personally I would love to see Adrian Lopez. I know some will scoff at this but let's not forget when Gaston was linked people thought we were crazy, People said JRod and Clyne would go to bigger clubs and Forren would choose Liverpool over us we heard.
3. I feel that we will buy a solid but not too costly left back ( probably from la liga) to compete with Shaw. Clyne will have competition from young Calum Chambers as he will break through this year. Boruc, Davis and Gazza are ample cover for GK though maybe expect the latter to go on loan for part of the season.
As we did last season with Shaw, JWP, Chambers and Stephens there will be more youngsters drafted in to bolster the squad. I believe Gape, Seager and Isgrove will be in along with the four youngsters above. This leaves plenty of cover in all areas if we buy big on a CB and striker and also bring in a LB and Attacking mid/winger. and nobody leaves. What do you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For a better response, think you should've put this on the Saints banter page and not the general one. Why does everyone keep forgetting about Matt Targett? He's only 2mos younger than Luke.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Newcastle really need to bring in a lot of new players in the summer not just the 3 that has been quoted.
GK
Krul is great but we need a better back up than Elliot.
DEF
Coloccini, Taylor and Yanga-Mbiwa are all good but the fullbacks have been poor all season. Debuchy has been shocking so far but Santon is not bad, just inconsistent. And with the way we seem to play the fullbacks get a lot of the ball and are expected to create (which doesn't work).
MID
Cabaye and Ben Arfa are great. Tiote does nothing but give free kicks away and get booked, he can't pass but works hard. Same for Gutierrez, works hard but doesn't do much. Sissoko for me again is not creative, not a goal scoring midfielder and can't tackle. So what does he do? Not much. Have not seen much of Anita so he must not be anything special. Obertan and Gosling must go as are not worth their wages.
ATT
Cisse has proven he can score but can't do it all on his own. Gouffran will get better but never seems to make much impact.

So we need.

Possibly better fullbacks, a defensive midfield who is good in possession, a midfielder that can pass and create, a left winger and 1or2 strikers. Basically half a new team. (Only £100 million or so then).

Veratti from PSG would be great but he looks like going to Madrid. Matuidi and Sakho of PSG would be good also.
Aubameyang looks good but will go to a better team than us. Tom Ince also probs won't come to us and looks like Carroll is going to WestHam. Wilfred Bony could be an option.

Would like to see more British players though but the prices are rediculous.

Anyone have any other good players in mind?
