Manchester City are willing to meet the buyout fee for Messi, at around £200m and offer wages in excess of £500k/per week should Messi himself be interested.
They can't spend that much, and he's just signed a new contract anyway

Bristol Post running stories on Luke Freeman of Stevenage, many Boro fans resigned to losing him but a cleverly placed clause in Freeman's contract was activated.
