I would have undoubtedly taken top 6 at the start of the season but why will we 'run out of steam'? We have a strong squad, a great manager supported by an ambitious chairman and the finances to strengthen further in January.

Er...i think, Max, the year before you were winning the Championship play off final and we finished 7th in league 1 after starting the season with a 10 point deduction. This Saints fan agrees with Maximus. Part of Adkins success has come from respecting every team in the Championship and having a 'winning mentality' NOT arrogance. The cup game was an irrelevance in that both teams had bigger priorities. Its history as is the opening game of last season's league one game which saw the team currently bottom of league 2 beating the Championship's current leaders as a Pilgrim cheekily reminds us on this page.

While were on history the signature tune "Marching On Together" is completely original from tune to words, how many clubs can say that there song was fully composed for them and was in the UK charts for 3 months.

We need a world class striker.Andy and Henderson should be loaned to a club that can guarantee them 90-min per match.A striker like Higuain,Gomez, Villa(though getting older) and probably El-Nino{TORRES}.

U lot make me laugh! Lets get a few FACTS straight shall we? 1. Every team southampton played last season in L1 said we were by far the best team they played (we even beat blackpool and gave utd a good game in cup!) 2. We have absolutely NO debt and our owners are worth around 4 billion! 3. We had over 20 years of unbroken top flight of football (only going down because a certain rupert lowe asset stripped the club, ie walcott, beattie, jones etc) 4.We are top of the league on pure merit and have swept aside all 3 prem clubs that came down. 5. We have the most wins, goal diff, goals scored and the top scorer! So answer me these 2 questions thicko's... how does all that make us a small club? And name any other club in a better position outside the prem? COYR {Ed025's Note - its hard to argue with that mate..

OMG what person mentioned the bloody cup games again! Saints vs Blackpool = the Championships most entertaining team vs last season's most entertaining team in the Premiership. Should be a gud un.
