Despite several social media calls for Cambridge United to sign Adebayo Akinfenwa, Cambridge have ruled themselves out of the race to sign the big striker. Cambridge are interested in Barnsley back up Keeper Nick Townsend as well as also looking at making a shocking move for Royston Town goalkeeper Ronnie Yates.

10 Jun 2016 00:25:46
They can take Nick Townsend, not League 1 standard certainly don't want him as No2 in Champ.

10 Jun 2016 21:12:42
Nah got to love big Nick lol he's so bad.

28 Jun 2016 09:07:32
Agree with Eternaloptimist . Got to love him he is mad.
Maybe it's about time the supporters gave him another chance the young man came in and had a WA. of a manager who broke his confidence and what I heard bullied him LC was a prize knob so let's give him and some of the other players LC belt the crap out of a go.
I think townsend can be L1 and poss championship material and on his dad is good as Davis but just needs to be more consistent which will come if coached right along with some of the other players .
I keep my thoughts open on this one .

28 Jun 2016 09:28:13
I seem to be correcting my last comment . A one off!
I agree with chellosportlates . disagree with Eternaloptimist.

Doubt the rumour about Barry Corr is true, Patrick Cryne (the owner) said the only way we would have a 30 year old player, playing us is if he had been there since his twenties and Barry Corr is 32 now, don't know much about Dean Parrett though, maybe back up if Brownhill goes to Bristol.

AFC Wimbledon are looking to sign Adam Legzdins and Connor Clifford in the next week.

Adebayo Akinfenwa is yet to sign his new contract with Wimbledon. He is currently touring the USA and is looking likely to move to LA Galaxy, to link up with his hero Steven Gerrard. Akinfenwa believes that he will get work in Hollywood, as he begins to forge a career in media and film. The Beast won almost all the Player of the Year awards at the Dons last season, and would be a big loss. Wimbledon are already looking at bringing in striker Ryan Bird, released by Cambridge.

Wimbledon look set to lose young goalkeeper James Shea who is likely to complete a move to Brentford before the start of the season. Shea was outstanding for the Dons last term. After arriving from non-league Harrow Borough he was expected to provide backup to Ross Worner, but he outshone him and ultimately forced him out of the club. Wimbledon will hope Legzdins or another goalkeeper will be able to replace him.

Wimbledon are also looking to complete deals with free agents Joe Martin (Gillingham), Ben Tozer (Northampton), Joel Grant (Yeovil), Lewis Montrose (York) and Joe Partington (Bournemouth).

05 Jun 2015 10:25:29
Akinfenwa will re sign for wimbledon but is taking his time. Most of the above players hold no truth. Sorry X.
